S-pen near screen as mouse-over effect

Maybe this is old news to many, but I just discovered that when the s-pen is near the screen (but not touching), there's a mouse-over effect. Cool!!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Yes old.
There's an option to activate a graphical pointer while over it

It is. Very useful in the browser, too.
For me I don't like the pointer option(in papyrus app for exemple) , to remove it :
\system\usr\idc\sec_e-pen.idc
Enable touch.deviceType = pointer
Disable touch.deviceType = touchScreen
Reboot after change

I'd assume that this will not work that well with a screen protector over it?

So mine is not working ...
This effect is somewhat similar to Xperia Sola the floating touch thing. Developers should take this effect even forward and try make scrolling possible while hovering over the screen with the stylus button pressed it'll be awesome
How To Enable the Pointer
pls how do i enable the Hovering pointer?

I found it very useful for S Memo and other painting apps. I discover this option even when first ICS leak comes out.
+1 for the scroll option
In ics there an option to show pointer even for touch with fingers, its in developers option section in settings,

A new IDEA......

Hi guys...
I dont know how many of you are annoyed with the way u ''multi task'' or bring ''recent apps'' in S3.. im certainly...
I feel ''pressing and Holding the home button'' for a while makes me think its a lllllllloooooooooooonnnnnnggggg time... so being lazy & impatient i came up with an idea....
:good: why cant Samsung or Someone could use the gesture "SWIPE UP FROM THE ""BOTTOM EDGE"" OF THE DISPLAY" to bring up the recent apps screen? Just like the way we bring down the notification bar from TOP EDGE of the display
Logically I want the device to look for the initial value of Y=0 on the screen to enable this gesture
We all know there is enough gap between the HOME BUTTON and the BOTTOM EDGE of the display?
Kindly say what do you think about this ? A request to Senior Members of the forum to make this idea reach the Samsung Engineers please.. Thank you
Can't be implemented until there is some hardware change.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
When the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update hits soon, that gesture will activate Google Now.
hm.why dont implement it with gestures+siyah kernel (link)
but instead of swiping above the hardware button, swipe on the bottom of the screen to up.

I set that gesture on nova launcher prime. If I Swype up from the app drawer icon it opens recent apps so I don't have to press the home button to see recent apps!
Hope it helps!

He's looking for gestures on the small area between screen and the hardware home key. That's not possible because the screen doesn't have touch sensitivity there.

You will not need Samsung engineers for this. If it attracts any kernel developer here then that's all you need. Try gokhan or Franco.

If you use Nova launcher prime you can set up gestures. I just tested it I set a two finger swipe up to show recent apps and it works like a charm
Edit not sure it works when any app has the focus but it does work when on the homescreen

Mate 8 pressure sensing

Hi
I just found this activity while checking
this app QuickShortcutMaker.
Application: Settings
Activity: Pressure sensing
Package/Class: com.android.settings/com.android.settings.pressure.PressureResponseSettingsActivity
How can we benfit from this?
Bye
Here is a screen shot
is it working or just useless function enable !!
I think that's just some old code from the Mate S Emui which they weren't bothered about removing
I slid the slider to the left and I swear it now takes less effort to press onscreen buttons.

Oh well, despite glove mode on I had a few touch screen registration issues here and there, caused I assume, by tempered glass screen protection, and I'm 75% positive it's way better and snappy now.
Menu has other hidden but undoubtedly working features, why this one wouldn't ?
Thanks for this !
I can't find the settings for the pressure sensing. I feel that my touchscreen is not as sensitive as other phone. Would really appreciate if this method works
Use an app that can open activities. As for me I used that good ol' lmt pie. Pressure settings can be found there at the very bottom of the endless parameters activity list.

Hiding the navigation bar NO ROOT, non-immersive via ADB

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share a juicy little piece of information I came across today. If you already knew about it great, for those who don't, listen up!
On Oreo, setting the navbar height to 0pt does not work. So instead, do this!
adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,-143
That's all you need. It can also be used to set the height of the navbar to your liking. -143 just happens to be the value at which no trace of the navbar can be seen, and apps will utilize the whole screen, similar to immersive.
Why would someone want this? Easy, gestures. I personally use OnePlus Gestures, but choose whatever you want!
Anyways, enjoy!
To reset back to original settings:
adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0
Do u have pics of how this looks?
So would changing -143 to 0 bring it back? Would like to try this on mine to see if it works with Android P DP2

Hello!!.. I use this also to hide my navbar but with -170
Haven't seen the navbar since then
The only thing that you will miss are the bottom accesses on the lockscreen (camera, assistant), although they are still accessible by swiping from corners...
For gestures I use "Edge gestures".

Good Lock 2019 (One Handed Operation) / System - Display - Navigation bar

Good Lock 2019 is superb from Samsung no doubt about it but in case of System - Display - Navigation bar - Navigation buttons or Full screen gestures AND One Handed Operation which is available in Good Lock...what's the use of having both why cant we disable system navigation buttons or gestures if we ONLY have to use One Handed Operation which in my opinion is super awesome!!
