Unknown brand for Citroen C5 ( New Android 9 ) - Android Head-Units

Hi XDA
We bought a new android head unit ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bes...103320.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.4cbf3c006VNKDW) for our Citroen C5 2010 and it works great. Seems like the CANBUS support is way better now, than just 2-4 years ago in the old Android car radios. It detects when doors are open etc. Pretty cool .
I have a few question and maybe some of you might be able to answer.
1) The cable that supplies the USB connector ( on the picture ) also splits out into a grey cable. I was wondering if any of you have seen this cable before and know what it is for?
2) I'm still trying to figure out what brand of radio this is. Maybe someone can help with that?

Here's a picture of the about screen.

Picture of the grey connector would help.
Is there a diagram illustrating connection to the unit?

Here's a picture of the cable.

Btw it says "Mobile Inter" on the connector, so I would guess it's a connector for the USB 3G/4G modem, but I have never seen this connector before...

Color wise it looks like USB, 2 power pins and 2 data pins. You could check if there are 5 volts between red and black.
I found your thread because I'm also considering a Android headunit for my C5 III (2009). What radio was installed before and was the display a drop-in replacement or where any modifications necessary? Are you still satisfied with the unit?

Faster Charging with Android Auto?

So, my 2014 Kia Soul ! got a new map update that included Android Auto. I love the functionality, but the Soul only outputs .5 amps to the phone and it isn't enough to charge it, I slowly lose a charge while driving, about 5 percent in my 47 minute commute. I've been trying to figure out a solution and think I may have based on this thread.
https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidAuto/comments/48e65c/way_to_fast_charge_with_android_auto/
if I were to get the same cable mentioned in there...
https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-3-Feet-Cable-External-Drive/dp/B0047AALS0
And then put a Micro USB to Type C adapter on the end, I'd get a faster charge and have Android Auto still work, right?
Anyone else think it's worth a try?
Got any other ideas?
I should update this thread, I got the cable mentioned, really good quality THICK cable. I hooked it up to 3 different chargers, it didn't make a difference at all. Guess I'll return it.
Anyone have any other ideas on how to increase the charging capability?
I'm also trying to work it out. Although I don't have Android Auto, I have a headunit which is AOA2 (Android Open Accessory, USB audio,) and has an apparent power output at 2A on the USB port.
With Google Maps and Play Music both on, I'm losing roughly 5% an hour driving.

Good to hear someone else is looking at this.
I'm trying to figure out how to hack the actual port on this thing to provide more power, you'd think we could do 2.4a, right? Or at least 2.1?
I use Pioneer unit avh-x8700bt and my phone is charging during using android auto. I use nillkin flat usb c cable. In fact 1 hour drive gives 14-15% juice. You can Google for this unit specs to check what are usb details.

I don't think you'll be able to get faster charging with Auto - since it has to directly plug into your head unit usb, the only thing you can 'get' is the output from it. Not like you're changiner the lighter adapter where you can buy ones with different outputs.

Thanks, I'm not going to swap to an aftermarket HU though, the one in this car is fantastic.

I should have explained, in the Soul, the USB plug isn't in the head unit, it is an easy to remove module in front of the shifter. I've taken them out before for other modifications, and the wires are easy to access. I'm just wondering if there's a way to modify it there to output more power.

Hmmm, it almost sounds to me like:
Buy a higher output cigarette car charger, rip it apart - but then you'd have to jump the electrical straight to the car + solder the usb connection to it and then remount it?
Yeah, I was leaning more towards that direction of thinking.
Any update?
Here are my ideas (view picture), though there are some possible problems I can't confirm. I'm currently using the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado 8" Mylink system and my phone is a Droid Turbo. I just ordered a wireless charger so I should be able to test that idea in a few days.

Number 2 is what I was looking into but I really hate trying to splice tiny wires like this.
I do agree that the end solution should be wireless, allowing us to use a quick charger of our choice and having a small USB Wi-Fi dongle that you can plug into your vehicles usb port.
Has anyone gotten anywhere with this? I can tell you that I have my Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi running in one of my cars with a Y-Cable. I have a 2.1 (actually QC2.0 but that doesn't matter,) charger plugged into the power side, and the data side goes into a powered USB hub. I actually intend to snip the power supply wires to the hub, so it can't drain the tablet no matter what.
I still ran into draining issues even after powering the hub, so I ended up using a cheapo microcontroller to keep the tablet charging for 20 minutes after the car goes off. This keeps the tablet topped-off. I'd be real curious if you could somehow trick a phone into quick-charging and data simultaneously.

Where to buy a replacement device cable

I have an Android head unit I received for free, but it's missing the device cable. The unit has a sticker on the back that says AC-9216B-2+16GB. I was able to figure out what pins were for the battery connection, ground, and accessory. using some clip leads I was able to get it to power up and I found a complete wiring diagram in the settings displayed on the screen. I just need to find the 16 pin connector to be able to use this unit. The clip leads barely hold on and fall off with the slightest movement.
I'll attach some pictures with the device info and the connector.
Any help for where to buy the device cable would be greatly appreciated. It came with the GPS antenna, the backup camera cable, the A/V cable, and the two USB cables. It was just missing the main cable that has the connections for the power, and speakers. It also came with a USB dongle that is supposed to add Android Auto.
I see a lot of posts about this type of unit (8227L) with instructions for how to unlock the bootloader and flash custom ROMs. So if I can find a cable, I should be able to make this unit work pretty well.
You can buy the cable from aliexpress just search for shops:
Carload
Podofo
Both sell 8227L devices and you can get the cables from them.

Thanks for the tip. It took a little searching, but I found the correct cable. If you search for "XY AUTO Android Solution Interface" They come right up. The power cable was only $1.82. I ordered two since I was paying almost $5 for shipping. Of course they will take a month to get here from China.

CarPlay only working when using the USB port on the back

So I got an aftermarket Chinese android head unit (this one!) which generally seems pretty good to me, however one issue I'm having is that for some reason, wired CarPlay only works if I use the USB port on the back side. The HU has 2 USB ports on the front. The front upper port is for charging only I think, since it has a charging icon next to it and also because if I connect using that, the HU doesn't detect anything. But if I use the front lower USB port and then open Zlink, a 'Connecting' message appears and after about 10 seconds I get the error: "link fail, try another usb port". If I connect using the back USB port however, CarPlay starts within seconds! But according to the manual, the back USB port is for the rear camera, which also came with my HU.
I also have an Android phone. I tried connecting that to the front lower USB port and I could use Android Auto. So the issue is only if I use CarPlay.
Is there any potential reason why CarPlay doesn't work when using the front lower USB port ? Is the HU potentially defective, or is this a software issue of some kind ?
My iPhone's iOS version is 15.0.1, if that matters. The Zlink version is 3.8.34, and it's an Android 10.1 HU.
bump. Any suggestions/comments ?
Your link does not work. Maybe you should provide a new one or provide the head unit description here.

Link seems to be working for me, but you can also see the head unit if you search for this on Amazon.com: B09KH7VQ2N
It’s an Android 10.1 head unit.

Be sure it's not Android 10. Most head units shows a faked version info and yours is to cheap to be to to date.
Does your car has an USB socket you could connect with the USB connection on the back of the head unit?

12 pin usb connection

Hi,
I recently purchased a usb cable for my android head unit and the lead doesn't work. I didn't buy the unit so I don't know the brand etc. The unit was in the car when I bought the car.
I'm guessing the wires that plug into the usb connection are in the wrong order. I have no way of finding out the correct order. Does anyone on the forum know the correct order or even show me a picture of their usb cable.
I've bought 2 cables so far, neither of them have worked and they cost close the £100. It's very frustrating that I can't get them to work
Thanks in advance
What does the seller suggest and what happened when you tried that.
Also, with no information and detailed screenshots, how did you want help
When I plug in the usb cable and try any basic usb connections like phone chargers usb sticks etc. Nothing happens at all.
I've attached a screenshot from a product guide I found online if that helps.
If anyone knew which pins were for data transfer or voltage, that could help me loads.
Thanks
Measuring is the magic word. 8 pins will be connected in the original cable. (VBUS)+5V 2 times and 2x GND
...then you only have to find out what is D- and what is D+ for the data lines.
If you don´t want to measure: Open the magic box and have a look at the pins from the connector inside.
Just with your picture no one can tell anything. Each supplier does it´s own magic.
By the way... Connecting that wrong, may damage the internal USB-Hub and you can buy a new mainboard... just to mention. Trying around is not a good idea.

Android 11 head unit with canbus

I am having trouble getting support from the company I purchased my unit from. They are either very slow responding or just ignoring me. Didn't help that I didn't give them the best review in a follow up email. Anyway - maybe someone here can help me. No manual or instructions were provided. The unit is specific for 08 cadillac sts, plug n play adapter to the car doesn't match. I have the wiring diagrams and prepared to cut and splice directly to the car. There are 8 wires on the plug - yellow and black for continuous power - 4 speaker wires - and 2 wires that I don't have a clue where to connect them. I have asked for the instruction booklet or where these 2 wires are to be connected - no response. Any advice would be appreciated.
