I read a lot of reviews about the Omnia 7 before buying one (can't have it until Christmas - I'm being good you see!) and a lot of them complained about the power button being in a place you're likely to press during a call.
My question: what happens if you press the power button during a call? On my HD (WinMo 6.5), it just goes in and out of standby but the call stays connected (so you can turn the screen on to use the keypad or switch to loudspeaker, etc). Is it the same with WP7?
My question too cause im looking to buy this phone also
I use the Omnia 7 for about 2 weeks now. Never had the problem of hitting the power button while making calls. But if I do so, nothing happens, it just turns of the screen, the call is still on. Same thing as you put your phone near your head and the sensor turns your screen off.
On other hand i "had" little problems with the back and search buttons. You can easily hit those buttons while doing other stuff. But its not as a big deal as it sounds.
Thanks very much - just what I needed. I was a bit worried as the Engadget review went on and on about the power button being just by your thumb, but it doesn't seem a big deal to me.
Edit: I thanked _ivo_ as well by accident - didn't mean it! No hard feelings

This almost put me off too. They must hold their phone in the most unusual way known to man, because my thumb sits nicely between the power & camera buttons...
The power button needs to be firmly pressed to turn off power, it would be very hard to press this unintentionally unless you hold your phone as tight as possible while calling.
As the title asks...
Just bought one last week and I'm curious. It seems as though it should and I wish that it did. It feels a little cheap without the clicking sound and sometimes I can't tell whether or not I pressed the button. It just feels mushy.
Yes it should. If it isn't and it feels "mushy", id guess there is something in there stopping you press it all the way down...
Anyone else been noticing issues with the power button on the N4 since upgrading to Kit Kat? (Fully stock)
I've found that sometimes my power button won't register a 'long press' to bring up the power/volume/airplane mode control, unless I reboot.
Other times, I've found that pressing it seems to register twice.
Is it just me?
it's not kit kat the power button on our phones is of really bad quality they only last for a few months you should get it replaced from the service centre.

You are not alone my friend..It happened to me when i upgraded to 4.3..Ever since i am having issues with power button..At first i thought that it's due to 4.3 because the button was all fine in 4.2..But then i had to accept that the button is dying..It's not due to the upgrade..
Sometimes my button won't register long press & sometimes it feels like i've pressed it 2 times lol..Phone locks & then unlocks just by pressing the button once :crying:
For me, the power button sometimes wont turn the screen on. I have to press 2 times.
And i feel this after upgrade to 4.4
You guys should just change the power button. It is a known problem for Nexus 4.

Same is happening here, my phone has less than 3 months. I don't believe it's a hardware problem, I can hear the "click" when I press, and sometimes it works perfectly, and sometimes is just horrible to lock/unlockscreen.
I'm starting to consider about flashing a ROM/Kernel with doubletap2wake.

I replaced the button and now its fine.
I noticed this the other day, but figured it was just a fluke thing......I've now made about 10 calls on my OnePlus 2 and when I'm finished with my call, I don't have a hang-up button! I have to hit the home button, then swipe down and choose "Hang Up" from the little window there. Doing this is a quite a chore because the sensors detect when the phone is by your face and shuts off the screen, so when I try to touch my screen it will shut off the screen. I eventually get it, but it sometimes takes about 30-45 seconds to end my call doing it this way.
Am I missing something? Is one of the softkeys (on the phone) now the hang up button?
u have to press the dialer keys button and it will minimize and reveal the round, red end call button. yes, kind of strange. but u can also set your power button to be an end call button i believe.

Thanks!
But, something weird just happened.... I lost my "clear all recent's" and read if you boot into safe mode, that will fix it..... So I booted into safe mode and it fixed my missing "clear all" X......But it also seemed to have changed the behavior of my dialer??!!?! Now, I have the red hang-up button that shows all the time (like it should).
So it just sounds like it's a little buggy still?
My power button gets stuck and as you know when you long press it it reboots the phone. So basically my phone is just constantly rebooting and rebooting, its practically unusable. I need help if anyone knows a way to disable the function of power button, I mean so the power button wont do any function anymore, or swap it with another button.
I had the same problem. Got the button replaced, it worked for a month or so and I started getting the random reboots again. A search on the internet reveals that this is a common problem with the S3, and I doubt they fixed the issue for the S3 neo.
1.5 years of use and my power button is broken, my volume buttons are mushy and my camera doesn't focus at all. The build quality on this phone is a joke.
You'll probably have to have your power key replaced as well. Or do what I did and remove it from the motherboard. You won't believe how flimsy the solder is. I now use the accessibility shortcut button to lock / unlock my phone. It's a hassle and it takes up screen real estate, but at least it works.

Mine stopped doing it now but I'm sure it will start again. You are right, build quality of this phone is really lame. That part on the sides that looks like metal is mostly worned off from my phone. Camera focus is crap and volume is lower than before, I can barely hear notifications. Maybe I'll remove the button too, but I'm concerned about how to boot the phone if it turns off.
You can turn on the phone by connecting the charger, immediately booting into download mode (before the battery icon comes up) and restarting from there. It's not the best solution, but at least I have a functional phone until my oneplus x arrives sometime this week
try to do this

That's actually a fantastic idea. I thought about flashing cm that has no offline charging and booting that way, but this is better solution lol.

You can try nova launcher since it has a gesture for double tap to lock screen, or maybe a 3rd party app.
use soft lock to lock screen without pressing power button
