I know I may be upsetting some people with this thread and I wish to not do so, so I appologize if I am ahead of time... but I have been doing alot of searching and reading and with all of these cooked roms now, I cannot decide which one to use or which ones to try first...so I was thinking -I would like to know which ones are more geared toward Eye Candy? And which ones are more geared towards performance / stability? Is there one geared towards both? (I would like the most possibly eye candy...at least just to try it out )...
Any recommendations or anything of the such ?
Again, I am sorry if this is a bad thread to start... really REALLY do not want to upset anyone, I appreciate all the work done here -really, and I am currently studying computer science programming so I really do understand and respect the work done here and one day would love to be able to contribute, but with this being my first time back to win mo in a longgg time, I need a little advice to get back into the recent times of winMo.... please help ?
Did you check out the ROM forum? I think you could find a better answer there.
I do not want to make a double post? Maybe the mods could move it ? Or maybe I should just start another one like this in that section ? -I thought this would be the right section since it is Q&A but maybe its just generalized Q&A ? ...not too sure
Check out the EnergyRom in the rom section.
He build's his ROMs with four main goals.
Eye candy ( I want my ROM to look great and for it to all flow together nicely)
Speed !!!
Smoothness, consistency and good aesthetics
Stability through private beta testing before public release
Bet there are other roms with the same goals so just flash some and see for yourself. Most threads have pictures how the rom looks like.
maybe the most famous eye candy - performance roms are energy and xannytech.
u should try both and decide which is the best for you.
personally, i prefer close to stock roms and do the customization separately.
there are several very good roms for this: dutty's, laurentius26, etc. but it's obvious which is my favorite .
mumbasa!!!
i prefer having a ROM closest to stock but tweaked to best performance. n the best in tht department in my opinion wud be Miri's 6.5.X or 6.5 (i use the 6.5 as i cant gt myself to like the 6.5.x arrangement by microsft + its still far frm perfect). They r the fastest, smoothest n the mst stable roms i've used, n i've been flashing miris for 2 years nw, since HD/Blackstone days. I'v tried duttys, asian, energy, n a few more, but none came close.
as for the eye-candy part, if u r looking for simply candy, energy's the best, n performance wise is also pretty gud. but agn, personally, wat i do is flash miris n customise it every last bit according to my needs. trust me, theres a sea of customisations rite here on ths forum n is a childs play to find if u r willing to look. cus wen u do sumthng according to ur needs frm scratch, its turns out tht much better cus nobody knows wat u wnt best bt u.
hope i helped. njoi.
Keep in mind, I need a TMOUS 1024 compatible version ...
Laurentius26 V3.0 WWE Ultimate POWER best one I have used
Hey everyone....
Mostly to those of you who have just stumbled upon XDA!
This may seem like a strange post, and some will say it's in the wrong section...But I'm sure many will agree with me.
With the release of Gingerbread for the Galaxy S, and the fact that all the hard work of our ROM Chefs here on XDA have made it easier and easier to create or modify a custom rom, I don't think I'm the only one that's noticing hundreds of ROMs popping up in the last 2-3 days or more....they're spreading like wildfire!
Don't get me wrong here...I might even post my own modified version of a rom for anyone that might be interested in my particular arrangement, and that's what these forums are about; creating and sharing ideas for all to find their perfect combination of what's out there.
I just would like to take the time to say to anyone who has just bought a Galaxy S and stumbled upon this wealth of information to STOP, READ, and READ MORE!
Do your research, don't flash the first thing you see. You don't want to end up with an expensive paperweight. Find out what's tried tested and true and don't forget to thank anyone that helps you along the way.
Just a thought. Happy flashing
So, what is the point in making other ROMs if you're suggesting every new user to choose only the ones which are long on the scene?
i think marky means that newbies should read up before flashing ... and at least try flash a stable rom first before proceeding to betas or changing from one rom to another rom.
And marky i really agree with u, there have been alot newbies asking on how to flash or pop up and say they had this, that, there problems while i am sure alot of us didnt encounter before, even though on the first time ... some problems are self debug-able, some had to read then apply fix .. problem is many doesnt READ ...
Nope most newbies dont read and dont want to read/learn .
Many seem to arrive through a word of mouth /other forums posting xxx rom is brilliant .Multiple posts on the same topic follow help, help .

I don't know if I'm supposed to to post this thread here , but just don't know where to . It is more dedicated to developers forum , but I'm not allowed to post there ( and not sure should be - I'm not e dev and it is stupid to post smth like : "U r so great , keep on .....)
I'll be glad to see a little collaboration of our developers . BlaY0 is great dev , so is Ogo2 and Ali Ba , not to forget whitetigerdk , TGF and few others . But if u help each other , it'll be better .
Ogo2 is trying to do something very nice and interesting , but he is alone in this . At the very beginning he asked for help . But all he gets is : " It's not that difficult but you have to know what you are doing." - a statement which is sounds more like : " You cannot do it buddy , forget it ". AFAIK Ogo2 did a lot . And such a words could be posted only from a developer who can REALLY fix the WI-FI issue , and who REALLY do something about it .
I hold BlaY0 in high esteem ( in fact I'm using his B.0.8 ROM ) , but he sounds like he become jealous of not being the first to develop Sense 2.1 . I don't want to offend him , but first he had a lot of work with B.0.8 , well it's done ; latter there were a holidays - they past . Now what should it be ???
Bonesy is absolutely right - he isn't obligated to do it .This isn't collaboration for me
I'm not offended and I already explained why I'm not really interested in that particular project at the moment. Besides that I also have a job and a family which I tend to spend most of my time with.
And you are wrong if you think there's no collaboration among us... I am always available for technical questions via PM and I always respond to them. I also got response from other devs (for instance Ali Ba) whenever needed.

I'm glad hearing this and I read your replay . But I support @alexhtclegend for that you could give some advices to someone who could play with his Legend .
By the way you owe nothing to any of us .
And since you explained him what to be done , let's hope it will help
EDIT
Well , thanks . Today I see u really like to help . Let's hope someone can manage it ( 'cause I don't have a clue what were you talking about )
i found multiple thread about this topic but no one is giving the proper answer .just wants to knew what is the best rom .and nothing else So pls just give the rom name and not criticize about this topic .
Best ROM for what? Making calls, taking pictures, what exactly? Every ROM has his bugs and things you may not like. Test them, and you will see.
in my opinion.cm7 is good for playing games. miui is beatiful and 4.0 is good for its camera and music.

Hello Friends From XDA!
The Intension Of This Post,
is collecting signatures (or orders) to know how many users want to have a multiboot kernel (GB / ICS / JB)
as the current and (Turbo Kernel 3.1) but more stable and with better performance ..
Users who want to, and they would like a kernel so ..
please do so knowing in this post ..
if possible then we'll ask the developers,
to see if any are encouraged, or have time to continue with the development of (turbo kernel 3.1)
which still has some bugs and lacks optmizar a little more for performance ..
PS: I think we can have (GB / ICS / JB) installed simultaneously is one of the most brilliant things we've had for our device, not it???
Really, do you think that the multiboot thing that is not developed for months will be restarted only because you do a poll and ask to someone else to do the work?

No one will do what you want, if you want to get this problems fixed, just learn C and kernel programming and do it for yourself, don't forget that people have a real life...
Wow this thread didnt go as the op intended lol but people need to be realistic. Im sure evryone would like to see a kernel like this. Anyways my play seems to have finally died (i think its the flex cable) so until im back in the usa i cant fix it and by then i might just not bother
@gangstermartorell & @[email protected] , I think you have no right to make that kind of comment, if someone does not like the idea, or do not sign the petition and ready .. the only ones who have the right to complain if the developers do not like the idea .. or sorry! you are developers?? no ... lol.
ah! and @ abdel12345, thanks for your comment. and sorry about your Xplay .. : (.. I just came a few days you thinking of buying a flex, to have spare just in case, and now with this that happened to you .. and I am convinced ..
I keep my Xplay much longer .. and now I see PPSSPP progress, and future NDS emulator (DRASTIC) even better ..
And do you have any right to demanding such thing to people? I think that these threads have to be deleted because are extremely contained with SPAM.

I think you did not understand the intention of the post .. the intention of the post.'s collecting signatures to see if people would like a kernel multiboot .. and then if people support the idea.
Please ask the developers .. and if you do not want any problems .. no .. this all more than good. no intension to demand anything from anyone .. is more, the developer (DiKeJ) .. very kindly said he'd be happy, (when I have free time) to support this idea .. and what's more, they also help to several developers would ask as (extremetempz & Wegdess)
Wedgess already said that he will not work to the multiboot things months ago cause this is the work of cosmicDan, so it is also a form of respect for him.
Extremetempz, really I will not start any flame, but looking his thread (not haved time to look his github, maybe I am wrong) seems to me more a user that recompile sources and add some overclock than a kernel developer, so I don't think that he can/will pick up this work.
Sorry if I say something that you don't like, but what we are saying sadly is the reality, our board haven't a lot of skilled developers, we have only some ports from the mogami board, so don't expect so much

We don't need a multiboot kernel, we just need a 3.x.x kernel, which would allow us to have a working and smooth android 4.3 on our xperia plays
