Hello,
I am using Motorola Droid Turbo phone. And I really like it.
I want to upgrade Android 8 or 9 for it, now I have a room Stock version. But I cannot root the device. I followed the link https://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-install-t3292684, but when I came to App Sunshine, I was unable to pay them $ 25. Currently in Vietnam, this machine is only about $ 30, with the cost of $ 25 to root this machine I found unreasonable.
Please ask if there is any other way to root Motorala Droid Turbo for free. Please help me.
Tks!
unfortunately there is no free root Sunshine only

If any are like me, have a Verizon Moto X XT1060 running on Kitkat, and was unfortunate to have bought a device whose bootloader cannot be unlocked, free tethering on your device might seem impossible. I just moved from a Foxfi tethering device, the Motorola RAZR, to the Moto X a few months ago, unfortunately at the sacrifice of My Precious (Lord of the Rings) Foxfi app, which allows you to tether for free; which is awesome when you have an unlimited data plan. However, it appears that Kitkat has come to be the much hated Bilboa to come and take away my beloved Precious.
But not so fast ...
For those who cannot root your device because either fastboot fails to retrieve your device's boot info or once you're gotten the boot info the Motorola website says "Your device does not qualify," here's the solution to your problem: Foxfi, of course, does not work on Kitkat, but from the Foxfi website, it does however mention that your device will tether on Jelly Bean (4.2.2). And so, the solution is to revert back to Jelly Bean, which is fairly simply and does not require you to have an unlocked bootloader. Just follow the instructions from this website. http://www.android.gs/downgrade-restore-moto-x-stock-android-os/

Yeah and apparently cricket has it for $49.99 with an unlock code from ebay running around $5. With the poor support from alcatel it's not a phone I'd recommend to anyone anymore. I've moved onto a new device as have several others although I keep hoping alcatel might surprise me.
I get better performance with my $50 at&t go phone zte zmax2 (z958) which doesn't even have a root method.

You seem much more knowledgeable with the Idol 3 than me, I purchased the phone used from Craigslist, apparently the previous owner had an older version of TWRP on the phone and thought he was rooted but still on LP, anyhow after getting phone home there were some weird issues and random force close of system apps, so I factory reset it, and it bootlooped on me, I used mobil upgrade Q and it updated it to MM, its now running pretty good with no issues, but now im stuck with no fastboot or access to unlock bootloader, install TWRP and root. I know I can use the Panasonic Eluga Switch method to downgrade. My question is,if anything goes wrong or I manage to screw up something, will the Eluga Switch software change anything on the phone that will prevent me from running mobil upgrade Q again and installing factory firmware?? I'm just worried that if the Eluga Switch changes anything that will prevent the mobil upgrade software from recognizing the phone, and leaving me with a brick :crying:

You should asks your questions in the Q&A forum rather than here but as a quick answer...nothing you do should stop mobile q from working. You'd only be on the eluga software long enough to re-install twrp...once you upgrade to marshmallow via @The Marionette's marshmallow rom you can then use @Unjustified Dev's instructions to re-enable fastboot by flashing the package he put together from twrp.

Ok thanks for the answer, I was hoping that was the case, sorry for asking in the wrong place. I just wanted to be absolutely certain before I took the chance. Been reading up for past couple of days and knew the available options, just needed the confirmation that mobil update could save me from myself  , again thanks for the help!!
Hi Guys,
Please tell me how can I root my mobile Motorola Droid Turbo 2 xt 1585 7.0 nougat...
, I have many application to try this phone but not yet to root help me if possible to root this mobile thanks everybody
Hey, With the physically identical 1580 you go to motorola website, fill out a form saying you don't want your warranty and they send you the code - put the code in and wallah. From there you can flash a firmware from any Kinzie phone. With the 1585 version, Verizon have locked it down and won't give the codes out. There is a thread somewhere on here that was started a few years ago with people trying to work out how to get root via an exploit. The last few posts I saw people were getting tired of no results an moving onto other devices which could be more easily rooted / more reliable / newer.
Good luck on your adventure. Great phones while they work.
Thanks for the suggestions and support...

Nothing you are going to be able to do.
Verizon Droid Turbo 2 never got bootloader unlocked and rooted. The sibling Moto X Force, yes through the bootloader unlock code from Motorola.
All the dev work in this forum is for the Moto X Force.
Both are "Kinzie" (same phone series) but the Verizon branded one is totally locked down, thanks to control freak Verizon.

I have verizon unlocked MOTO DROID TURBO 2 XT1585,
1 ) I want to know how can I make backup of existing rom or firmware? so that I can restore it when required.
2) Also I want to know how to root this phone?
I have google both questions but unable to get right answers, therefore posting here.
I already have experience for backup/ restore MTK chip based phones using SPFT, so any equivalent method for droid turbo 2 as well ?
