Is Bootloader unlocking and TWRP installation procedure of 9 Pie (stock rom) is same as Orieo ? / or any different files for Pie ?
Different decrypt script.

I've already unlocked, installed TWRP and custom ROMS on several devices, so i know about fastboot, ADB, USB drivers for my device.
But with zenfone3 it's still pretty confusing for my brains so please be patient with me and explain the following:
I have a new zenofone 3 updated to stock oreo 8.0 already by OTA and i want to unlock, instal TWRP/Root and a oreo custom ROM.
In some guides for unlocking in this forum i read about flashing a RAW image before unlocking. Is this really necessary? If so: what for?
And then after unlocking i read about installing stock OREO again. hmm...
Please could somebody post here short necessary steps for my zenfone 3 with stock oreo 8.0 to instal a custom ROM OREO 8.1 on my device?
Thanks a lot in advance!

1) There are 2 ways to unlock
Official- This method is very easy (just download the bootloader unlock apk to unlock but this method will void warranty and you will not get any OTA Updates
Unofficial- This method is safe too, but it requires to flash RAW files (this method retains warranty and you will get OTA Updates)
The reason why you should flash Oreo RAW because Factory RAW can only boot FASTBOOT and touch screen will not work.
Just follow my steps and you can install custom ROM without any issues.
Hello everyone
I have issues with my Huawei P9 Lite
I want to get to the Nougat Stock Rom (lastest version); Here's my situation :
• I have access to bootloader (unlocked + still have the unlocking code)
• I can access TWRP (3.0-2.0)
Everything is wiped. I can't access dload for some reason.
Thanks for help
Flashed recovery2, recovery, boot and system from an MM stock update.app using bootloader. Can access dload now
Successfully installed stock rom. Now here's my issue. I want to update to android Nougat without having that "NRD90M test keys" software. How can I achieve that exploit?
How do I update from EMUI 4 to EMUI 5 through a twrp zip? I don't want to use dload because that will lock my bootloader and I can't get the update normally off huawei for some reason, I really wanna use Nougat because I'm bored of being on Marshmellow but I don't know how to upgrade. Every Nougat rom says that you have to already be on Nougat to flash a Nougat rom unless that's false
Model Number: Huawei VNS-L31
Build Number: VNS-L31C432B131
EMUI 4.1 Android 6
Single Sim
[Edit] Method:
Find the C636 (Asia) OEMInfo that's flashable in TWRP made by HassanMirza01 (iirc)
Download VNS-L31 (if that's your model) C636 B36 (make sure you get the one with OTA- -PV 1 (use Huawei Software Finder (TeamMT iirc)) don't forget the data zip
Go into twrp and flash the update zip, then the data zip and reboot you now have EMUI 5 Android 7 that works fine
Optional:
Unlock bootloader and flash Meticulus's TWRP via fastboot (meticulous.co.vu (get the one for emui 5 which is version 5 iirc not Warsaw))
Boot into recovery and flash magisk v17 (if you have a previous /data backup from EMUI 4 you can use it)

if you already have the oem-unlock code then use dload method and just unlock bootloader after.
Hi,
i've made a big mistake, i have flashed TWRP and LineageOS/Stock-Roms from Oneplus 5T on my Oneplus 5. There was only a few things that don't work. Now when i boot into Recovery i can't install LineageOS for the OnePlus 5 because of Error 7. Is there a special TWRP for Oneplus 5T and Oneplus 5 or is it the same for both devices? At the moment there is no OS installed. I have flashed this Recovery https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...overy-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-oxygenos-5-0-t3725723 and tried to flash LineageOS for OnePlus 5 but it failed with
zip treble compatibility error!

Yes, there are 2 ways.
1. Flash OOS from bootloader, or via adb sideload. Else use MSM Tool to flash OOS. Then lock bootloader, and unlock again to flash the TWRP. After that all back to normal.
2. Lock the bootloader and unlock, then flash CodeworkX Force Encrypt TWRP from the same link. Format data and try.
#1 will make it all clean with no need of vendor again.
#2 will have the need to flash vendor image again.
is it stable? did u have navigation gestures hahaha just wondering
what didnt work?
Most works. Microphone didn't work and sometimes bluetooth.

It is possible with no problems. Answering here right from the rooted Mi 9T QFJEUXM 11.0.4.0
Actually, you don't need TWRP to install Magisk. Just follow OP posts (also my posts - they are specifically about QFJEUXM 11.0.4.0) in the following two threads:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/how-to/guide-easiest-to-root-twrp-t4000209
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/how-to/root-k20-indian-rom-v10-3-6-0-twrp-t3958566
In short, you need to patch from Magisk Manager the boot image extracted from Recovery/ZIP QFJEUXM 11.0.4.0 and then flash it from Fastboot.
Instead of patching yourself, you can use the patched boot image for QFJEUXM 11.0.4.0 from my Mega:
https://mega.nz/#F!hllnSIpA!amAG8moMYW_tG8r731Tzgg
So you don't need TWRP to install Magisk but you can independently install TWRP (e.g., upon installing Magisk). It's good to have if you ever install a Magisk module causing bootloop, you can then just remove that module in TWRP from /data/adb/modules and reboot to the previously rooted and working setup
Use the official TWRP from:
https://dl.twrp.me/davinci/twrp-3.3.1-0-davinci.img
For official TWRP do not format or wipe anything like VBMeta, Data, Persist or whatever; except, if you wish, Dalwik and Cache
Official TWRP supports encryption - when you boot to TWRP, just ype in your Android unlock pass/pin.
Same holds for OrangeFox custom recovery - you can install its zip from TWRP
