Using Redmi Note 7 Global version, 4G+64G, MIUI 10.3.2.0.
VoLTE
I entered *#*#86583#*#* and dialler confirms that VoLTE carrier check is disabled (test page 4636 also shows VoLTE provisioning is ON).
On different phones using same SIM, same location, I see "HD" icon confirming "HD calling", or "VoLTE" but NOT on my Note 7.
And no new android menu items about VoLTE have appeared.
So, at first glance it seems that VoLTE is not working.
HOWEVER If I make a call, the display continues to show "4G+" and data keeps streaming, so VoLTE must be working, right? or maybe not?
WiFi Calling
I entered *#*#869434#*#* and test page now confirms that WiFi calling provisioning is ON.
And yes, a new menu item appears SIM card settings, "Make calls via WiFi". (OK so far)
However when I enable WiFi and disable mobile signal with flight mode, I cannot make a call. Dialler tells me "mobile network isn't available. Connect to a wireless network to make a call".
Also if I go to an area with no mobile coverage (instead of flight mode), same error.
I believe that my carrier (Three UK) is supposed to support VoWiFi.
So is WiFi calling broken in MIUI 10.3.2.0 ?
There should be a VoLTE icon when you open the notification shade. Works well for me, even though I have the MIUI 10.3.2 EU ROM, and I had to enter the *# code in order to get it working and for the toggles to appear under SIM settings

Thanks for the reply. Hmm yes, that's what I expected, but icon is definitely not there.
It's especially strange since I have definitely had VoLTE with the same SIM successfully on different devices.
What do you make of my phone staying on 4G during a call, does that suggest VoLTE is actually working?
If your 4G icon doesn't change into 3G (H) while in a call, I'd say VoLTE is working for you. It might be that there is something missing in the VoLTE handshake between the carrier and the phone, not passing all the checks and resulting in the phone not detecting "full VoLTE connectivity" and not showing the icon. If a call to another phone also using VoLTE starts ringing really quickly, if the sound quality is really good and your phone shows that it's connected to a 4G network, that should be it. HD or VoLTE icon or not, the functionality is there.
You said the same SIM has had VoLTE on other phones, so the carrier side should be OK. Although I suppose there might be a device whitelist on the carrier side – there sure was one when VoLTE was first introduced, as not all VoLTE-enabled devices were eligible for the service. At least that's how it was in my neck of the woods. So if all else fails, you might want to verify that with your carrier.
On the Redmi Note 7 though, as I said, it required that I enter the *# code for VoLTE. After that, the VoLTE toggle appeared under SIM and wireless settings. I can't tell if the toggle was in the "off" position when it appeared, but I'm quite sure that right after seeing or switching the toggle, I checked the status bar for a new icon, and there it was. No restart was required. You could try re-entering the code and seeing if the toggle appears (as in the screenshot).
Your profile states that you're in a brexiting location, which makes me think – do you have the Global ROM or the EU ROM? My MIUI version says PFGEUXM and VoLTE has been known to be disabled or not working in certain editions of MIUI.
I enabled VoLTE toggle and also Calling over Wi-fi but when I try to make a call it won't work saying I need to establish a cellular network connection.
Is there a way to make it work?

Your mobile carrier needs to have VoLTE enabled on your account to make it fully work
use *#*#86583#*#* as ON/OFF switch !
===================================
use it once = it turn VoLTE "ON"
use it second time = make VoLTE "OFF".
For "Use Wi-Fi to make and receive calls" type *#*#869434#*#* once.
for turning "OFF" use the same code (*#*#869434#*#*) second time.
Easy-peasy !
(btw. I'm on MIUI Global 10.3.6, no root, original ROM)
@kljoki
I have it exactly like this. Because when it is deactivated you can't see toggle options in settings.
I am on MIUI Global 10.3.10 Stable PFGMIXM
So what am I doing wrong.
My provider O2 Telefonica is supporting Volte?

Sorry I'm on Xiaomi Note 7 .
( I think there is no help from my side.)
Has anyone got WiFi Calling to actually work?
If so which carrier are you using?
Have the feature activated but like the other poster, I cannot make calls over WiFi (T-Mobile) made wonder if there's any additional steps needed to activate the service
Could someone already test if VoWIFI is working with the Miui11 Beta versions, plz?

Derpfast-Rom is unfortunately not updated any more - had VoWifi working...
Have a feeling they disabled it on purpose to not canabalize their higher end model sales.
It's been the same story since MIUI 10.3.5

I'm using latest crdroid with no success on this subject. BUT i use TIM Brazil carrier so i believe this is not a rom related issue, but a device+carrier issue.
VoLTE has worked great for me from the start. Had to enter the VoLTE code in the dialer to get the switch in the options to appear though.
VoWIFI - what's your motivation to use that? I have good coverage where I live and I'd rather have a real cell phone call than for it to go through my home or office wifi without QoS set up to prioritize voice calls.
is it right that vowifi doesnt work with miui 11.0.5 on my redmi note 7? VoLTE works?

Unfortunately I'm just having wifi during work inside my hospital.
Means I'm not getting any calls on my mobile as a backup. Quite disappointing. :/
Update:
By a HowTo in the german android-Forum I made it possible to activate VoWifi on my Redmi Note 7 , without rooting or bootloader unlocking.
Had to delete row_commercial profile and activated Commercial MTS for Telefonica in Germany.
Works perfectly -. @Antaril

Can you share the link to the German thread here?
I'm curious how they determined Row Commericial must be deleted.
That's what my phone defaulted to and showed as active under the Sub0 column when I connected it to PDC

Last I saw, it appeared that OTA Marshmallow 6.0 on Moto X Pure Edition had voice call problems with VoLTE enabled, on T-Mobile.
The workaround was to disable VoLTE (Disable "Enhanced LTE"), to maintain good voice calls quality.
Can anyone offer info on whether this is still a problem with OTA MM, T-Mobile, and VoLTE?
I'm staying with 5.1.1 until I see this resolved, either on T-Mobile end, MM, or maybe with a fix to some offending component or app.
TIA...
Please everyone let Motorola know about this bug so that they will fix it.
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-X...l-audio-after-MM-upgrade-w-VoLTE/td-p/3239629
I read that thread a while back. My conclusion was there was insufficient resources when the screen off when on VoLTE. I'd think using a kernel manager with a custom kernel would let you set a higher cpu speed with the screen off, or maybe enable more cores to be available.
There still no fix for VolTE voice calls bug on this phone?
No fix. Motorola/Lenovo is basically ignoring us. You can see this in the long running Motorola support forum thread. Kernel change does not help as it has been tried already. Moto sucks.
That's a bummer. I think I'm going to return it before I loose the window. My last phone was an LG G2 and the VoltE worked flawlessly. It is sad that a newer/better specs phone is worse in that area than a 2013 phone.

KitKat does not exist for this device. Lollipop does not have the VOLTE bug. But you will loose band 12 LTE.
I don't think this is a Lenovo issue. I'm on AT&T and pretty much they only support VoLTE on their branded phones. Blame your carrier, not the phone. VOLTE does work on Verizon as I know two other people with this phone on VZ and once they got MM update, it worked.

I don't want to jinx myself but I have had my XT1575 (US) since October but recently switched to T-Mobile from VZ. Although my bootloader is still unlocked, I am running stock 6.0 (24.201.3 - Feb Security Update) and have had zero VoLTE issues (even on VZ it worked fine once enabled on my account)... Still no Wifi-Calling (on either carrier) with my XT1575, but HD Voice works great when calling another T-Mobile VoLTE phone (HD icon appears and voice quality/audio range is noticeably improved).
Not to state the obvious, but have those of you with VoLTE issues go into the hidden "testing" menu and made sure the VoLTE Provisioning Flag was set to "ON"? Access the Testing menu by entering these keys from the dialpad: *#*#4636#*#* and go under Phone Information then scroll down...
Also, make sure you have the T-Mobile LTE APN (Access Point Name) configured and enabled (should be auto-provisioned as "T-Mobile US 260 LTE" but if not the APN is "fast.t-mobile.com" and there are instructions for manually configuring their APN on their website).
Hope this helps.

It really doesn't matter if you upgrade the phone from Lollipop because VoLTE didn't exist on the phone until the Marshmallow upgrade. If you have problems with calls you can turn VoLTE off which is what you have now.

Your move from VZ to T-Mobile may support it is a carrier thing. Perhaps because your phone was already provisioned to with VOLTE on VZ, it carried over. I know the phone supports it, but let's face it, U.S. Carriers seem to hate not having control (especially AT&T). Any means to keep features limited unless you use their branded devices is one more control they have.

I understood what you said. But band 12 opens up a larger coverage area. Without VOLTE calls do not work on band 12.
One thing to note is that if the screen is kept on the jitter goes away. So it may also be a power management issue. We have already tried disabling power management on call services. But it did not help.

I am not disputing the fact that you need VoLTE to make calls over Band 12. Fortunately where I live in the Boston area T-Mobile pretty much operates exclusively on Band 4. So if I start having call problems with VoLTE enabled I can just turn it off. However, if I was still on Lollipop and in areas of the Country that use Band 12 exclusively I would not be able to make any cell calls using T-Mobile, since VoLTE was not enabled on the phone until the Marshmallow upgrade.
I would like to be able to blame T-Mobile for the problem but unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case. Other third party phones like the recent Nexus phones, the Axon Pro, and the iPhone 6s and 6s plus all seem to have no problems making voice calls with VoLTE enabled. In my case I have noticed that the static problem does not occur with every call. It seems to come and go on an intermittent basis.

I think we all agree that Moto ignoring the issue is the worst part of the situation. I don't think they have even acknowledged it as a problem yet. There are a lot of things about the phone I like. However, at this point I would never buy another phone from Motorola. All phones have minor bugs. However, this is a major problem.
Hey Guys
i found the solution to enable VoLTE on your rooted devices
1. You have Root
2. You need a Root explorer
3. Go in /system/build.prob
4. Go and search this: (Note: Default values are all-->0
change all to--> 1
#ifdef VENDOR_EDIT
persist.dbg.ims_volte_enable=1
persist.dbg.volte_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.vt_avail_ovr=1
persist.data.iwlan.enable=true
persist.dbg.wfc_avail_ovr=1
#endif
5. Save it and reboot
6.After reboot enable it in Settings --SIM & network
7. A Big Note: Your Carrier provider must support it......if not.......you have enabled it and nothing happens
------>You can test it if it works,by doing a call....when 4G still shows by your call,then your provider supports it
If 4G disappears.....hmmmm then not
cheers
try it out

Thanks a lot mate. Worked for me.
Should this just work if the carrier provider supports it or does the carrier need to support this specific phone as well?
I think I'm on the same carrier as danmaman (Vodafone in Germany). They support VoLTE in general but primarily for Samsung phones. OnePlus devices are not on their list. If I remember correctly it's the same with Wifi Calling.
I tried to activate VoLTE this way but it didn't work for me although it's available in my contract. Wifi Calling doesn't work either.

My phone is MHA-AL00C00 and I want to use VoLTE in Rogers network. But the menu of volte is missing and I heard some body using C636 and enabling Volte in US T-Mobile networking. So I re-brand my phone to C636B191. But still there is no VOLTE menu available. Then I used QuickShortcutMaker to enable WIFI calling setting anyway. Then I upgraded to Andorid O(MHA-L29 8.0.0.0.360(C636)) and I found Volte menu is available and it is enabled. But the real phone call is still back to 3G and there is no VOLTE icon in status bar. So I used another SIM card with VoLTE enabled in Iphone 6+ and I found there IS VOLTE ICON in status bar. Please see the attached screenshot and I placed a call and it didn't switch to 3G so it is real VOLTE call. But unfortunately this icon is gone after a while. I guess the Mate 9 phone is not VOLTE certified device in Rogers network.

From Rogers forum somebody mentioned to contact level 2 support to add your IMEI to Rogers database then you should be good to use volte.

Afaik, to get working VoLTE phone must support this and mobile operator too. And they will turn support by request if they can do it.
Just chat with Rogers and this function is not enabled on my account. After enabled you have to update your emergency address and submit to Rogers. I have done this on a Rogers iPhone 6. Now I have volte icon always.

Yes. no fall back to 3G when calling. But it only lasts 2 hours and this VoLTE is gone again. Re-chat with Rogers agent and they said it is not working on non-Rogers phone even you are lucky to get working for a while.
Sad!
Update:
This morning I just found the VoLTE icon is shown on status bar. After place a call the call log shows it is a VoLTE call (It also indicates it is VoLTE call during the call)
It looks like Rogers remove VoLTE restrictions on non-Rogers phone.
If the IMEI on your account is VoLTE capable, then VolTE will work for non branded devices, as long as the imei doesn't change.

Listen dude, the settings which you are showing in your screenshot can be enabled and disabled very quickly ( by tweaking your rom or you can say editing your build.prop) an easy way is to open magisk, and flash the "VoEnabler" module right in magisk and boom settings of volte are available. But you never ever ever make jio volte work on Nexus 6p because it doesn't contain the band on which jio work. So chill those settings are just for showpiece. If jio volte really work on any stock android, then there is "HD" shows in the left top status bar, as it is in Pixel and Pixel 2. So if you on jio and want to make voice call, just grab Jio4GVoice app from Play Store. Thanks
Unable to fix with currently available things.

Flash Magisk module = settings available for VoLTE, but not working!
Any other mods for Oreo?
Hi, so I know you can enable wifi calls on your Redmi note 7 phone, but that doesn't mean wifi call will work. I believe phone operators needs to support your phone for this. I use "Onecall" which is based in Norway. They only support iPhone's, Samsung phones, and a few huawei phones.
Is it still possible to make this work? I really do need wifi call, and now I'm considering getting a phone that truly supports this feature in Norway.
I think it's an IMEI based feature,for example here in Italy with Vodafone just some devices can use VoLTE and some of them needs to be sold by Vodafone with a branded software, so the VoLTE will work only on that IMEI, i don't know how your carrier work but i think it's something like that.

Those commands is just so that VOLTE or Wifi calling will appear in the settings which I have already done. I have also enabled it of course, but still not working.

You need to have the volte service enabled by phone operator for your sim card. If working for some phones (ex. Samsung) it's like my operator (Digi EU), it's enabled automatically for some IMEI types. If you can, try to keep your sim in a supported phone, or try to ask the operator to enable the volte service.
This way you can make the volte working, for the vowifi... if you are lucky, your Redmi Note 7 have a working vowifi modem config for your operator... I needed to change the modem profile using the Qualcomm PDC tool...** https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83310915&postcount=26
