I have just bought a Samsung galaxy s5 from a for sale site. Seemed fully legitimate. Get home and try setting it up and I'm stuck on the screen that reads " this device I'd locked because of an abnormal factory reset. Sign in to the Samsung account you have already signed in to on this device to confirm it belongs to you. "
I do not know this information. And now have no way of getting the information off the owner. I have tried a couple of methods to bypass this And watched numerous videos on YouTube.
Some tutorials to remove it tell me to press "forgotten your ID or password?" Did that. Put my own samsung account. Entered the captcha and then went to the next screen. In the videos they tell you to them press my email which is highlighted in blue and then it takes you to the Web and it carries on from there. However it does not let you press the email anymore. It isn't a link or anything.
Please can someone give me some advice or help! Welcome any questions or anything. Thanks very much. Jordan.
Go in recovery and wipe data/factory reset. If not works I would suggest you to flash a new firmware through Odin.
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app
thanks for reply
Hi. Thanks for the reply. I have tried the factory reset and all that on recovery mode.
I am not the best expert on rooting or rooting. So any advice would be kuchly appreciated as I currently have no phone!! Thanks. Jordan
Seems you have bought a used S5 right ?
Are you sure this is not a lost os stolen device
As you describe de situation i`m thinking on the option Reactivation Lock o security tab.
If the old owner let this option active you will have a hard time trying to use the phone without the samsung account information.
Very much sounds like a stolen device I take it you didn't take any ID from the seller?
Might be expensive learning curve.
Peace ALL,
Hopefully someone can please help me!! I recently purchased a used OP2 off of Amazon. Phone received was in good shape and looked brand new. The problem I have however is that I can't bypass the initial set-up (I think it has something to do with Google factory Reset Protection).
Whenever the phone is in the initial setup process its asking for a gmail that was synced to the device before it was wiped--which of course I dont have access to. Is there any workaround for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
i had the same problem as i got it second hand. The thing with me was that i knew the owner.
The problem is that the previous owner wiped the device from the boot menu ( the one that looks like twrp) and not from the in menu setting.
this is why it asks for a previous mail.
I asked for his mail and password ,logged in, went to settings did a factory reset form the menu and all ok.I dont know what you could do without his mail and password.
Maybe unlock it put twrp custom rom open it and then reset it to factory settings?
Does anybody know if unlocking bootloader and flashing the stock ROM will bypass Google Device Protection (not sure if this will work as i think the OP2 is already "unlocked")?
Someone please help
I am having the same issue. I've read how you have to wait 72 hours but I am not sure if it will work.
Hey guys! A friend of mine gave me her old phone (Samsung Grand Prime(SM-G530W)) and I planned to reset it so my Father can have a new phone. Unfortunately, after a hard reset the phone kept asking for the previous gmail account (My friend said it's a very old gmail and have not logged in with it for so long).
So far I have tried to flash 2 stock firmware (both lollipop 5.1.1 and even tried to flash a bell variant firmware) with Odin and no luck so far.
Thanks for the help in advance!

It doesn't matter how many different versions of firmware you flash. It's a security feature built in to the device to deter theives from stealing it. (Think iCloud lock for Android, similar concept).
There are methods to bypass this but I won't discuss them as I don't know for sure how you came across the phone and don't want to be complicit in theivery, but be sure to check google.
Your best bet at this point is to give your friend some truth serum and torture her for the old password (Or to ask her to initiate password recovery in order to obtain a new password. Please note that after the password has been changed you will have to wait a further 72 hours before accessing the phone.... another google security thing).

Cannot add a new gmail account to the phone unless he is able to access the phone... which he needs the old account information for. The problem is he cannot access the phone because
The phone was already hard reset (No Contacts or Data on the phone, it's been wiped) so this is a mute point.
1- Perform a factory reset using recovery mode
2- when the phone boot up , Connect your phone to a wifi and complete all necessary step until you have to verify your Google account .
3- When you are to the point when you have to verify your account use the the OTG Cable in order to connect your phone to some memory stick which contain the bypass app
4- Navigate to the app and install it .
5- immediately after installing open the app , it will redirect to SETTINGS .
5- open it and navigate to Backup and Reset
6- proceed to the factory reset again
7- choose erase everything
Done
The next time it boot up , Frp should be gone

Worked for my SM-G530W (Solo Mobile Canada, but has nothing to do with the firmware as is factory unlocked w.w.)
I had the same problem, and i used KIES 3 (not compatible with my phone anyway), but if you go on Kies toolbar to "TOOLS", "Firmware Upgrade and initialisation", it asks you for your device model (for mine i typed SM-G530W, and then it asks you for device serial number (S/N) found under the battery by the IMEI number. After this, follow on screen prompts (Restart your device in Download mode/ PDA, connect USB cable, etc), and let the software download and install (factory rom); After your device restarts, you are good to go (sometimes if it gets stuck on booting, remove battery for fer second and start again.) Now you have to go back and set up everything you want, including re-rooting your device... Good luck. (My device is Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530W Factory unlocked rom, Android 5.11.
Hi,
I am somewhat in the same boat. My friend's SM-G530W just crashed in her hands, and she ended up buying a new phone. When I got to her place she told me nobody managed to do anything with it, not even her carrier (Telus) , so I said gimme that and i'll see if there really is nothing you can do. Factory reset didn't fix the boot loop , so I grabbed the latest firmware from sammobile and reflashed it using Odin. I didn't even know about FRP until that day. After flashing , the phone came to life.. so I said to myself.. Too easy! .. Then FRP hit me. Because she didn't even understand what a google account is , I ended up resetting her password using her new phone and a google code to change it. Afterwards the phone told me I needed to wait 24h after a password change. It has now been 2 weeks , and same issue. I know I have the right password because if I type another , it tells me wrong password , but when I type the correct one it says to wait 24h, but it never goes beyond that.
I have tried every method possible that I have seen to bypass FRP, including OTG , disconnect wifi during update check, realterm and a few softwares , yet the same problem persist. I also tried Freelancer's tip , but same thing. It still asked for the old account because password was reset, and again tells me to wait 24h because of a password change.
Any more ideas?
SM-G530W Telus
Damn
Out Of all the phones in the world you had to get that one.... that one is impossible to unlock, it uses multiple built-in software and has a glitch in the systems hardware to make it impossible to unlock I have two of them since 2016, december 12th, it is 2017-12-25. and let me tell you I would give anyone 1000$ who ever can prove me wrong... I am very confident that this phone can not be unlocked, it was one of the first phones to use frp and honestly it kinda sucks, I got a samsung galalxy 8s now... perhaps in the distant future someone will unlock this phone.. but ofcourse by then it will be ****...

This is going to sound crazy, but I guarantee that it will work. I have unlocked a dozen plus grand primes SM-G530W phones. You will not need any OTG cables or flash any firmware. But you will have to download a couple apk's to remove the account. So that said. Take your grand prime to MacDonalds. . When there connect to the MacDonalfs free wifi. Normally you cant open a captive portal on google locked phones. But you can with the grand prime. The macdonalds splash screen will open up and you can scroll down to the bottom and click a link for policy. That will open your browser. From there you can download technocaretricks apk and quickshortcutmaker apk and bypass the google account .

I will gladly take your thousand dollars. Let me know when you have it and I will send you my address to etransfer it. I have proved you wrong. And hope you can keep your word cheers mate. I will be waiting for my private message requesting my email address for payment.
I bought an S7 Edge of a friend recently, the phone had this "custom blocker" app installed which prevents me from easing the data, etc. It was in retail mode which i managed to deactivate and have now managed to factory reset it but its asking for the previous gmail (which is not me) and the previous owner gave me his gmail and it didn't work. So i tried the download mode method only to find i cant enter download mode! but i can enter recovery mode. I also can not enter bootloader (locked). I'm running out of options, if anyone has had this problem can they share some advice?

The problem is "FRP"
Factory Reset Protection
maybe the gmail is related to wherever he got it from if he has not reset it before.
i dont have an answer for you other than to begin your search on - how to bypass FRP lock
i have seen many threads around on xda of users having the same issue of FRP lock so be sure to search XDA as well as google..
Hope you get it sorted

Try this
http://www.techoxygen.com/bypass-factory-reset-protection-on-samsung-galaxy-phone/
Good luck
that worked right upto the last step where it told me to go to google account manager and click on "email and password", instead of saying email and password, it said "Error". When i clicked on "try" there was a communication problem with google. I looked online and it said to download the google play services (which i did) but to no avail? /:

If you are like me (an amateur) and forgot to OEM Unlock (in Developer Options) and flashed a custom rom, and now stuck on FRP lock and cant boot your phone, this guide may be for you.
You probably tried flashing the original firmware with ODIN and it keeps failing.
After spending a lot of time trying to revive my S7 with different original firmwares, I realized that the device wouldn't take anything older than the firmware on which it got locked.
It also failed when I tried to flash the whole firmware at once. So I had to flash it in pieces - The order below worked for me, not sure if it will work for everyone else.
Here is how I finally got it to boot after being stuck on FRP lock:
I Used the most recent Firmware, location (CSC) didn't seem to matter. - All you're trying to do here is to get it to boot.
You can try using the one I used, I uploaded it in pieces to Dropbox:
BL - https://www.dropbox.com/s/2wwu8wn54...3_QB19588892_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5?dl=0
AP - https://www.dropbox.com/s/c8vgdyfb1...9588892_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar.md5?dl=0
CP - https://www.dropbox.com/s/dldh07gjxe5e607/CP_G930FXXU3ERHC_CL878338_QB10643129_SIGNED.tar.md5?dl=0
CSC - https://www.dropbox.com/s/1u66yrt11...1_QB19668317_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5?dl=0
PIT - https://www.dropbox.com/s/yacn187sp4xok9v/HEROLTE_EUR_OPEN_HIDDEN45M.pit?dl=0
Odin - https://www.dropbox.com/s/sblzsuetto2qreu/Odin3_v3.13.1.zip?dl=0
USE A RELIABLE USB CABLE
1. Using ODIN, flash PIT -> Reboot
2. Flash CP -> Reboot
3. Flash BL -> Reboot
4. Flash CSC -> Reboot
5. Flash AP -> Reboot
6. Your phone should now boot and bypass FRP.
7. Once it boots, you will have to verify your Google account.
7. Once verified, go to Developer Options and switch OEM Unlock to ON
Now you should be able to flash anything you want without getting FRP lock. :victory:
I hope this method works for those stuck on FRP lock.
Is this working on SM-G930XXX ??? thank you

I am trying to unlock an old S7; I have my google credentials (fully working) and a new phone that shows the google notification, but the FRP process on the S7 simply starts over and over
i fixed this problem by flashing same firmware again with home_csc. no data lost, everthing like before.

Hi, I'm in the same situation but I try to hard reset from recovery first: do I have some chances to see my data again?
Is a Factory Reset Protection Lock, in the end, isn't it?
I found the same firmware than before, do I find there home_CSC?
Thanks

hello xda,
I recently purchased a S7 edge with firmware G935FXXS8ETC1 from ebay , the seller had just upgraded to an s9 and sold this s7 edge to me. Upon receiving it i turned it on and was met with the "enter pin or fingerprint " to unlock .
So i emailed the bloke straight away and he said it should have been factory reset and there was some concern about his data being still on the phone. However , as i was emailing him i could see the email notifications of the emails i was sending appearing on the screen whilst it was locked (push notifications)
Anyway he gave me four or five different pins which did not work so i did a factory reset on the device by holding volume up, home and power button and when the phone boot up i was met with the frp lock.
I was on the phone to the bloke for around an hour typing in every possible gmail account possible he could have had . i got one and it processed , asked to verify by text and entered confirmation code which the guy emailed me but the device just went back to beginning again. there is absolutely no doubt the phone is legit as the dude owns a business and was very well to do , and i could see that he did have the phone registered to the email address i was sending emails to..
The guy offered me a full refund but i really want this phone up and running and paid 100 quid for it
but im unable to do anything with frp , it just isnt taking the details hes giving me.
There is no adb enabled , no oem unlock
i have fixed , unlocked , rooted many devices via help from you guys and i do know the policy for certain files and how there are folk who misuse the site . So as a last resort i ask the ones with the knowledge for some assistance and what to do next .
As always thanks in advance , much appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read my post
