I purchased an HD2 from eBay, it was locked to T-mobile. I immediately purchased an unlock code, installing my old iPhone sim (making O2 aware of what I was doing) and punching in the unlock code. All appeared well, however it won't connect to the telephone network. I'm getting the GSM icon and I can strangley check emails when out and about sometimes. But I can't make nor receive calls.
I've taken the T-mobile ROM off and replaced it via HSPL with ...
RUU_Le2_UK_1.43.206.4_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship
Which is the standard O2 ROM. It throws up the following error when searching for networks and trying to connect to O2.
"cannot register on selected network, choose another network".
I've tried everything and I'm just about losing it, smashing the phone passed my mind at one point.
I've tried my sim in another O2 HD2 and it worked fine, on all account. His O2 sim didn't work in my phone, which is annoying. So the issue is with the handset.
Before I go insane, I don't suppose someone knows a very easy solution to this issue?
Regards,
Sii
Info....
OS Version - 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81)
Manilla Version - 2.5.192.02525.0
ROM Version - 1.43.206.4 (70315) WWE
Radio Version - 2.04.50.22_2
Protocol 15.26.50.07U
It's sat next to me on the desk with an exclamation mark on the network icon but the mobile web icon is connected.
Very srtange.
automatic network selection brings back a failure to connect, however manual selection brings back all UK providers, selecting O2. I get "cannot register".
I wonder if it's something to do with O2 barring the handset? Brand new before I opened it. Also it was locked to T-mobile.
There must be a very simple explanation for this I hope.
Sounds like you may have to contact T-mobile for an unlock code.

I've paid this company ....
[unlockdata dot co dot uk for a code and have used it, however that does appear to be the issue from what I can see.
They sent me a code, when placing my O2 sim in the phone asked for it, I entered it and all appeared well. However it must not be the case deep down in the phone somewhere.....
are you sure it hasnt been blocked by t-mobile? Could well be an insurance scam: data usually works on blocked phones whereas GSM doesn't.
Well I've took my O2 sim card out and stuck my T-mobile one back in and the T-mobile one works and the O2 one doesn't, but I can't make calls.
Did some diggging that this ....
I've not been able to use the phone due to it actually being barred from service. Please use the below link ..
www . checkmend . com / uk / verify
With the certificate ID of - CM4510856-D4848
Looks like it's not stolen or lost, but just barred. I wonder why.
Is there any way I can get this removed?
Its blocked then: blocked and barred are the same thing. More than likely the seller has sold the device then immediately reported it lost/stolen to claim a new one and thus not only have a new phone buy also a nice slice of cash in their back pocket.
There is no way that the phone will be barred without having been reported as either lost or stolen and there is also no way of having it unblocked unless you are the original owner, haven't made an insurance claim, and ring T-mobile with the blocking password provided when the loss was first reported to the police.
Personally I recommend you lodge a claim with PayPal immediately as any other line of enquiry will only serve to delay the inevitable: you will not get the phone unblocked.
Best of luck sorting it out.
Complaint logged with Paypal, just have to wait and see what comes of it. Included the link to the file saying it's barred, let's see what the seller has to say about that.
c*ck omlette that he is
Thanks so much for the info and shoulder to cry on, heh heh.
All the best, Sii
Good luck with it mate, hope you get it sorted quickly.
Well I spoke to T-mobile and they said "no idea why we blocked it, it's not listed as stolen or anything, there you go, unbarred".
I can make calls on my T-mobile sim, however it still REFUSES! to connect to O2, even though I've put in the unlock code supplied by the company listed above.
Spoke to O2 customer support and T-mobile, no bars on the phone, no issues are barring by either provider. Just refuses to connect to O2.
Any ideas?
If not, anyone want to buy a £360 2 day old HD2?

I've had 3 sims from O2 already this week, they've been really cool about it.
I've also had to ROMS on, the original t-mobile one, and the latest HTC ROM too.
I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is, it's very annoying.
I may just put it up for sale on the bay of E, it works perfectly on T-mobile.
I'll try some other flashes this evening and see if that fixes it, however I don't think it will. FUnny thing is that it won't connect to the network but the large [G] connects, which does make me believe it's something radio based.
Been told to check the following ....
Yes in the sim card options type mepd
Network active - locked
Network disabled / inactive - unlocked
ANy ideas how?
Bit of an obivous thing really, but did you have to go through connection setup when you put the O2 SIM in?

Yes, and it won't connect/register/logon/access the O2 network.
This is the confusing thing, it can see the network but won't register with it
im not sure exactly which ROMS you have tried so i dont know whether they would have included a radio update... to be sure flash the radio ONLY!

Can anyone on O2 UK please list the Radio flash they're using and working with?
I did list the ROM I'm currently using in my first post.
I tried this with the originally installed T-mobile ROM (unknown details, apologies) the latest HTC ROMs (United Kingdom 1.48.405.2 and WWE:1.66.405.2) direct from their UK site and then the O2 listed in my first post.
I'll give everything another go tonight, seriously running out of steam on this topic though

Excellent, thanks so much for the information, I'll give that a stab when I get in after work. To save me hunting around, I don't suppose you'd be so awesome as to link to the ROM

Hello? I live in Austrlia, I don't know is there any person who can help me with my galaxy s. I believe my phone is unlocked (I bought from optus they are the only one who sell in Aus currently because exclusive for Aug. however I am currently using different service provider) what I realise is the phone itself comes with basic programs for optus and it always there at the same time on the sevice on top of the phone, I can't see 3G logo, means that I never can know my internet on the phone is on 3G network either roaming.
and if I bring this phone to 3 service centre when they release the phone in Sept, can they completely delete the phone, and re-install their stuff... or when my (3) service provider release the firmware update (which is android 2.2) if I install from different service provider, it affect on my phone (apn settings and etc will cahnge???)
I know that I should wait,,, now really stressed out becuase of that I cant do anything about it..
please help me....

They probably could, but you'd pay for it since it's not under a warranty with them. Alternatively try and find a VHA CSC and flash it, or a any non-Optus build and live with it.

Who knows if it'll wipe APN settings? If it's an Optus phone you'll likely get an Optus CSC. Anyway, you can always re-enter them.
Just install new rom and it will get rid of the optus junk. And even if there is a 3 version of the rom you can always flash that in the future ,With the 3g icon problem, you need to set up your vodafone apn settings. Simple

Please see this comment for how I weirdly got WiFi Calling.
Hi guys, signal in my house is horrific - I've been trying to get WiFi calling for ages, and loved it when I was with EE.
I'm now on Voda and don't have it.
From what I've seen, it doesn't appear to be possible with an unbranded phone (why Voda!?) through any normal/configuration means.
I have the option to turn it on under settings -> applications -> phone -> wifi calling, and I've sent 'CALLING' to 97888, but only get the confirmation of the text, and nothing to confirm it's been set up. However, I don't get the little icon to signify that I'm using wifi calling.
Is there any way I can get wifi calling?
Does it require flashing?
If I'm going to have to root/flash anyway to get this feature, is there a way to do it one of the nice custom ROMs I see on this forum, but retain the vodafone branding?
Thanks all.
Easiest way is to flash a Vodafone firmware. Had to do the same to get EE WI-FI calling working. There is an option in unbranded firmware but activating it does nothing

Just flash latest Vodafone firmware that way you will not trip knox and you should get wifi calling
I suggest you check with your provider, if the unbranded phone was not bought from them.
Wifi calling may not be allowed because the imei is not registered to a vodafone branded phone.
They may have blocked the wifi calling feature.
Hey,
I've got the Google Pixel phone which I bought from Carphone Warehouse. Vodafone have told me that WiFi calling should work with it without any special firmware. I've tried using my SIM card in a friend's Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which he bought from Carphone Warehouse and it worked! I too didn't get a text message from Vodafone when I texted 'CALLING', but WiFi calling is now active on the SIM card, albeit not the phone. Have been in discussion with Google who have escalated my problem to their technical people. Hope it can be resolved very quickly, otherwise returning the Pixel, which I don't want to do.
Thanks very much for the replies guys - I have something to report back to you all too. Unsure HOW this happened, but it happened... I somehow got WiFi Calling.
I'm scared to try do anything else like switch off my phone, because I don't want to lose my new WiFi Calling.
Here's what happened:
I have an EE iPhone 5s, locked to carrier. I'd recently requested an unlock from EE. It had been switched off, and was recently hard factory reset. Unsure of iOS version.
I put my Vodafone SIM in the iPhone today to see if it had been unlocked... it hadn't. SIM was in there for roughly 1 minute.
I put the SIM back into my S7E... started getting the usual texts from Vodafone about changing SIM, blah blah.
Somehow, I now have WiFi Calling on my unbranded S7E on Vodafone!
At no point did I switch off my S7E during SIM changing.
*NOTE* I'm not sure if something has changed recently, but I definitely did NOT see the WiFi Calling symbol before I did this:
I have no idea why/how and I can only speculate.
But... there we are!
Not sure if anyone else can try/vouch for this, as I realise it's a VERY particular set of circumstances, but I hope this helps someone!
Please do respond to me if you try this out and get it working... it'd be interesting to see if it works for others, and maybe figure out why it works.
Cheers!

So,
I was using my XT-1563 on a CyanogenMod in one of my local carriers. I bought a new phone and decided to sell this one, so I went back and installed stock rom. So far everything was ok.
The problem came when the person that was buying it tried to use her simcard. The phone didn't show any error, but it never connected to that network. Then I tried another sim from different carrier and it didn't work either (but it does work using my old simcard). It recognizes there's a new simcard, but fails to connect, only allowing emergency calls.
I've been trying all day to fix this. I have flashed nearly half of all the stock roms available, obviously starting with those from my zone, but so far none has worked.
I also tried the simcard into my new phone and it works just fine.
So, I know the following:
- The simcard is ok.
- It's not a signal problem (I have tested it in different parts of the city and zones I know have very good signal).
- The phone works using a simcard from one carrier, but not the others (and it doesn't ask me for some unlock code).
Thanks in advance for any help, it'll be greatly appreciated.

At this point I'm not 100% sure.
When I bought the phone it was supposed to be unlocked (I got it from someone else) and I'm pretty sure it was, because it was originally bought for one carrier (Entel Chile) and then I used it with another one (Wom Chile). By law, every phone sold in Chile since a few years is mandatory unlocked and this one is not that old (2015).
Right now it only works with Wom Chile, even tho I've installed Entel's stock rom. I think it's some baseband issue from what I've read, but I can't be sure.
P.S: Sorry for bad english.
Yes u r right
i used cm14 on xt1562, i'v feel my network was drop around 30-40% specially on Reliance JIO 4G VOILET.
Over all - rom is good for enjoy but not for stability

I have an s7 sprint phone, after calling for two weeks and hearing the same tune, they unlocked my phone. I switched to tmobile and have a loaner phone even as of now because of stupid sprint. When I put the tmobile sim card in it says invalid sim card. So, I go to sprint and they said yes it is in fact unlocked. The guy seems really he wants to help, He can't get the t mobile sim to work also, matter of fact there is no options for network apn or nothing with the new t mobile sim card in. You have to put in the old sim card from sprint and there is the options. He even tried to some how change apn there on the spot by swapping sims while the sprint sim gave him options. He typed in all the t mobile info from t mobile site and it says unrestricted network. So he said its prob. sprints software locking the other networks. He said t mobile will have to flash it with their software. I go back to t mobile they have no idea what flashing even is. Unlike the sprint store they don't have a tech room with workers dedicated to working on phones.
SO, basically I'm trying to say my phone shows unlock on their side but i'm not to sure if it's showing it on myside. I can't use my phone at all i'm paying t mobile loaner j7 phone and stuck with an almost brand new s7 that either side has no idea. T mobile says its not unlocked over and over, sprint is saying it is unlocked.
I found a similar post at sprint, but it dead ended with nothing.. I can't post links, but by reading it you may understand more it's on the sprint site titled: samsung galaxy s7 edge SIM unlock

I have a Galaxy S7 N930P from Sprint that I use here in Canada. I ended up flashing the unlocked N930U firmware (the Sprint variant), and all works well now. No Sprint bloatware, full access to my APNs again, unlocked bands, etc. I had to get the new firmware from SamFirm (or Sammobile), connect phone to computer via USB, reboot to download mode, run odin, then flashed the BL, AP, CP, and CSC (not the home CSC...the other one) files in the firmware's .zip using Odin 3.12.7. Worked for me, and sounds like something that might work in your case too. Worth exploring at least
Try flashing the unbranded firmware or if you moving to T-Mobile you can flash the T-Mobile branded firmware too.

First off, changing the firmware will not sim unlock the the sprint device, if you do flash to say a tmo branded firmware you will basically have a tmo branded device but still locked to Sprint. same thing applies if you flash the U firmware on a locked sprint device.
It's best to first have sprint unlock the device remotely then flash tmo or u firmware.
