OTA Update location A501

I have an A501 with 3.01 (Acer_A501_1.037.03_PA_ATT) The OTA update downloaded but I did not install it yet as I don't want to lose root. I can't find the update but I would like to back up the file if possible. I tried doing a file search but with one of the file manager apps but it got into a loop on a recursive symlink.
Some questions:
1. Where do I find the update (it is not in the cache directory)
2. Is there a good file explorer that can deal with recursion
- or do I have a corrupt file system?

Here's an example:
/sys/dev/block/7:0/bdi/subsystem/7:0/subsystem/7:0/subsystem/7:0/subsystem etc

Just in case you didnt find it, I used root explorer and it was in the cache folder long numbers.zip

There is a process to use it to update your tab.. I however forgot all of the steps..
i know you have to decrypt it. pull the update.zip out remove the boot loader.blob file.. This is not intended to be instructions just a guide as to what you can look for to find the information to do so .

Is that phone totally abandoned by htc ? i just baught it 2 days ago
if saw i would replace it with other phone

thats what i gues : no software , kernel source downloads available for this device . i even tried to contact htc about lp update and the Simply don't know

We shouldn't expect any lollipop firmware unless maybe we flash it.
My phone had lollipop out of the box but I flashed kitkat so that I could root it and modify it, but I found it to be too boring, I'm looking to revert to lollipop

So I downloaded the zip file sized about 1.8gb.
On extracting the zip file, I only get three files:
Android - info. txt - 92B
Userdata.img - 136034KB
Cache.img - 6972KB
I don't know where the other files have disappeared to

Yes I can delete them. I tried contacting them, they said it's an encrypted zip file couldn't be extracted. Don't know how it's going to be flashed

So when I repaired the zip file with winrar, I was able to recover these files.
Scatter file shows HTC_A50ML which is the D820ys, it comes with Lollipop out of the box.
This zip file is encrypted, only if one could find a password to crack it, or if someone has the knowhow to extract this kind of files

Android 7.0 on P9 lite

I found a site with a tutorial on how to install Android 7.0 on P9 lite.On version VNS-L31C636B361 there are 3 files, and acording to them, you need to follow these steps:
Extract the contents of the zip files you downloaded from above.
Create a folder named “dload” in the root directory of your device’s SDcard.
Copy all the extracted contents of the zips into the dload folder.
Open the dialer app and dial *#*# 2846579#*# *
Select Project Menu > Software upgrade > SDcard upgrade > confirm the installation.
The firmware will begin installing and once that is done your device will reboot automatically.
But the problem is, if I extract all the contents from all 3 files, some of them have the same name and overwrite, and when I try to install by *#*# 2846579#*# *, it stops after 5% and gives me fail error.
What is the correct way to install and why are there 3 separate files ? (also, do I need to have some settings ? the phone should be connected to PC while installing ? )

Seems you have another oeminfo...

i have the same problem, it runs now on version vns-l31c432b161, if a want to install android 7 i get the same message as above

the omeinfo is 100% the same, otherwise if would have said its not compatible.The problem is there are 3 different files for this model to download, and if u extract them in the same folder, they overwrite ? What is the correct way to install them ?

EDIT: i tried again and it stucks on 5%, doesnt say anything.

If you are in MM 6.0 you can not go to Nougat 7.0 without some preparation until Huawei release official version.
I you are already in Nougat 7.0 (B3xx) you can go to B360-B361, directly with Sdcard upgrade or with three keys pressed method.

U dint answer my question though.Let me be more clear.

On my model, there are 3 files:

update_data_full_VNS-L31_B361_hw_meafnaf.zip
and they say

But some of the files from these 3 .zips have the same name, and when I copy them in the same folder, they overwrite.
Is that tutorial sh1t ?

[ Fix the BalongC**B*** issue in build number ]

i hope this help you!
You have a phone locked to a provider, like Vodafone, etc, etc and you had installed a ROM that give you the BalongC**B*** issue in build number insted of of the rom build number is because your vendor is missing in that rom and your installation is not completed!!!
Is easy to fix it, you need to have Huawei recovery, doesn´t work with TWRP, just extract the dload folder to your sd card from this zip bellow and install like a default ROM, this will change your vendor to hw/eu, the vendor that came in provider free ROMs!
Just do a factory resete after flash! :fingers-crossed:

Download the file
Reboot into TWRP recovery
Tap install
Find the file you just downloaded normally in Download folder select it
Swipe
Wait for finish
Reboot into system

Download the file to your device
Unzip to a new folder named Dload in the root / of your SD card or the internal memory
Switch off phone
Restart to huawei recovery power and volume up
It should automatically detect file and flash
