Hey Guys I need some help please!
I have a friend, which will be joining this thread soon, that has a samsung tab 2 GT-P3113 7" .
He is not able to power on the device, I suggested holding the power button down for 30-40 seconds but that didn't work.
He charged it overnight and he can see the charging icon, he then tried again holding the power button for 30-40 seconds...still nothing.
He informed me that when he connects his tab to his computer it says:" I should install OMAP3440 driver for connection".
Sorry , this is all I have, I'm not familiar with the tab 2 .
Thank you!
Isnt there a reset button/procedure? Like hold power button and volume up or down?
My P3110 will not arrive till next week so i can say for sure.
Try holding the Volume Down button and the power button. Keep holding them and you should get a warning about running custom software. If you get this, then you could download an Odin restore package and flash it to the tablet to get it back up and running. The fact that it shows the charging image is a good sign, Hopefully it can be fixed from there.

Yes, I did, but it doesn't work for this tab. Only there is a good sign I can see: the charging icon come up when I plug tab to wall or pc, and when I try to connect to pc, I get a message from pc saying I should install driver for OMAP3440. This is the driver for Texas Instrument processor that come inside tab.
I don't know if this tab is bricked or not, so I'm stop just at this step.
Thanks & thank you so much to spagman72 for his valuable help

Yes, I did exactly as you have said, but it doesn't work, nothing warning about custom software, just black screen. Also, pls note that when I try to connect to pc, I get a message from pc saying I should install driver for OMAP3440. This is the driver for Texas Instrument processor that come inside tab.
Thank you
It is for omap4430 driver (not omap 3440)
Correction: when i have connected tab to pc, message is for install drivers OMAP4430, not OMAP3440 as I have said before. Very sorry for this mistake. :crying: :crying:
Anyone to help pls..!!
When you see the charging icon unplug it from the charger then try and power and vol down. Don't keep holding power for to long or it will hard reboot it before it gets to download mode.

Thank you RomsWell but when I unplug the charger and then press power and vol down keys nothing changes, just black screen. I think this tab is totally dead and another friend told me that I'll need a JTAG service. Anyone know about this, or where can I get it?
Thanks again

Love your rom btw try volume down, (for download), or volume up, (for recovery), First then hold/engage power button and hold, then release power button after boot screen blacks out and continue to hold up or down volume for recovery/download. Appropriate screen should pop up...if you get that far there are many options and I'm sure someone here can help you

Ok, I'll check it out and will let you know later, because at this moment I'm out of country.
Thanks a lot..!
My tab does this periodically...I usually just let it sit then hold down the power button and it boots. All stock, unrooted.

If you can get into download mode it may be a good idea to try flashing firmware through Odin to rebuild it back to factory.
I had the same issue after flashing the wrong kernel/ Rom combo while trying to get ubuntu touch to boot.

I had this same problem with one of my Samsung tab 2 GT-P3113 7.0's. After trying everything I could find online I decided to open it up and have a look inside. Opening a 7.0 is different than a 10.1 so check a YouTube video to see how it is done. After removing the back cover I immediately noticed that a small ribbon cable had some how become disconnected. I simply snapped it back into place then checked all of the other ribbon cables I could see and then tried to turn the unit on and it worked! problem solved!
If you have tried all of the other methods posted then you should give this a try, because at that point you have nothing to lose.
My Tablet gets handled by a lot of people daily and most likely it was dropped which caused the cable to be knocked free of its connection.
Hi All! I apologize for making a question just joining the site but I am desperate! My S4 turned off randomly last night and won't turn on/charge. The weird part is that if I disconnect and reconnect the battery, the phone tries to turn on, show me initial screen and then go black. Keep in mind I did NOT touch the power button! The device, by itself, Turns on and then goes black. If I leave VolDown button pressed, and NOTHING else while connecting the battery, I get to Download Mode automatically, but after a couple seconds, the screen goes black again. I am desperate, my local Sprint stores haven't opened yet, so I can't go to them. Any and all help is Greatly appreciated!!
(P.S. Any way to recover data like pics etc from the phone?)
Sounds like your power button is stuck. You can try to pry it out to make your phone usable, but as long as you're under warranty Sprint should fix it rather easily.

+1 on this. if you gave a safety pin, rin it around the edge od the power button to see if you can unstick it.
power button stuck...yea use a needle to ory it out then clean around it... all else fails, id try a new batt.. OR if your trying to charge off a laptop or a weak 500ma charger., by nature alot of.times the phone wants to boot whenever it detects a charger connected, but in your case the batt is to dead to stay on and the charge is too weak to.keep it on.. therefore simulating a " bootloop "... if this is the case, you need to find a 1ma or 2ma charger...
but.id try the checking the button first.

Thanks for the reply guys! I had some time to head over to my local Sprint shop, because insurance. Technician said it's a known issue, and that changing some internals (audio port, charge port etc) fixes the problem. Although this was not the case for me, I'l be getting a replacement on Tuesday. That being said, I would still like to get my info off of this phone. Any suggestions on the workaround of that power button? Thanks in advance!

As for getting your stuff off, sounds like Sprint might be the only way. Maybe you could mount your S4 to a computer and see if it will let you get stuff off.

Tried mounting, phone won't turn on so it wouldn't get recognized by the computer. I'll try prying out the power button to see if that fixes anything...
Hey guys, I just joined and this is my first post so pardon any stupid questions/statements I made
My Essential phone suddenly switched off while driving and it seems like it self-bricked itself - there is (almost) no life to the phone besides it coming up as "Qualcomm" when plugged into my laptop.
I've tried the following:
Hard-resetting it with the volume down/up + power button many times, for longer than a minute, with no response from the phone, so I can't get to fastboot etc.
Charging it with different 3rd party chargers/cables
Using adb (but can not get debugging mode on)
Charging it for atleast an hour before repeating the above
I've read other forums/topics and I can't seem to find a solution.
Another thing, I've made zero mods to the phone.
Can someone please help me, I'm using an old LG G3 at the moment lol.
Thanks

That sucks dude sorry to hear. Did you ever figure it out? My wife has the ph-1 & hers just shutdown on her running latest bone stock build. No root, no mods, it refused to boot for me. After several attempts I gave up for a while. I've been dealing with android for years. I was baffled. So I went back to it & held down power+vol up one last time & the damn thing boots after about 20 seconds. So far its doing fine. This just happened earlier this morning. Before it booted up I tried everything like you & it wouldn't respond. Weird. Definitely keeping an eye on it for now.

They've been very helpful to me.

My post from her other day didn't seem to post .
In it I suggested you hold down power + vol down for 15sec (maybe longer) as I think that does a virtual battery pull, but you might need to try some other combos. You should maybe put phone in draw for a week or two, then try .
Also see,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/es...icked-essential-phone-regular-update-t3732566
If the "chilling" trick works you might have a bad solder joint, not good, likely cause intermittent problems if it does fix. Or maybe phone shuts down internally if too cold (

thanks for the advice ... I tried all combinations for atleast a minute:

doesnt seem to have any life. I'm not sure if I mentioned but there's no sign of LED lights when charging - only sign of life is the Qualcomm port on device manager (windows) ... Sadly this country does not have any authorized entities to open up the phone

It sounds like your only choice is to try leaving it for a prolonged period eg a couple of weeks (don't charge it) & cross fingers you get lucky like some of the others have. Though it does sound like it may be bricked (might be worth installing Essential drivers on another PC & seeing if that gives you any thing more than the Qualcomm port)
I'd be in the same situation as you as I'm in Australia these days. It doesn't seem like local repair shops have any special Essential service tools, but if you have no chance of warranty repair local repair shop might still be able to identify some internal failure even if only basic electronic tests and order part (though might be hard/impossible to identify specific component failure without a circuit diagram or working phone to compare to), so long shot.

PS. You probably tried this already but just in case, try boot into recovery, hold down
vol up + vol down
(NOT power)
probably won't work, but just to cover all bases

Haha read this at work and gave me some hope, but sadly nothing.
When my phone is plugged into my laptop, Windows makes that signature connection sound; and when I hold power+vol, it effectively makes the "disconnect" followed by the "connect" sounds again, which is surprising

Hi All,
I was trying to flash the latest firmware for my device (G9750ZCU2ASG4) and during the odin process, my computer restarted which failed the update halfway through. I rebooted the computer, tried again, and it was trying to establish a connection for a really long time, so I disconnected my phone from the USB port on my computer, and held Power and Volume Down to try and force reboot the phone. I was going to try and go back into download mode to restart the process. My phone mentioned something about needing to do an emergency recovery, but I continued to hold down the power and volume down keys and then everything went black on the phone.
I've tried multiple USB cords, all of the button commands known for the device, and have even tried to perform the emergency mode recovery on my device, but it seems like it's in some sort of locked state; What I mean is the phone is stuck on a black screen. I can't "boot" into recovery or into download mode. The phone doesn't even vibrate when I hold the power button or power and down to try and force reboot it. Odin doesn't recognize the phone when I plug it into the computer nor does the device manager on my windows computer.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of issue or any idea of what else I can do to try and get into download mode to flash my firmware again? All help, suggestions, or comments regarding this are much appreciated.
Dead battery may be part of the problem
i had a similar problem with lg g3 some years ago, if your pc at least detects it as unrecognized device you might be able to use qualcomm drivers and some software to rewrite everything though i dont know if this exists for samsung. i think it showed up as qhsusb_bulk in device manager
It's basically soft bricked. You can use Odin and flash the official firmware and it should unbrick it.
The official route is to use emergency recovery in Samsung's Smart Switch software.

Yes use smart switch and emergency recovery.

Did you get this resolved? if so, how? My phone got bricked in the middle of update through Smart Switch. Black (seem to be off) screen. None of the key combinations work and when I plug the power cable nothing comes up. I have an appointment at Samsung service center but was wondering how you ultimately fixed yours

Hey man, unfortunately my phone was absolutely trashed and I had to get a new one entirely. Same symptoms as yours, no button combinations worked. I even tried to let the battery drain and charge to turn it back on and it failed. I guess now we know that there is definitely a way to hard brick this phone.

wow sorry to hear that. How did Samsung handle warranty? Mine got bricked in the middle of update through Smart Switched. The phone wasn't rooted or anything. Taking it to uBreakifix today.

Well, if you have a warranty and are unrooted, you're good to go. They should just replace it for you. However, I did not have a warranty as I have an international version, and I had to just eat my loss with a side of humble pie.

so took it ubreakifx as it was the only option on Samsung website when I clicked on service. It made me to make an appointment with ubreakifix but It turned out to be completely useless! They looked at it and said probably motherboard need to be replaced so advised me to call Samsung and send it to them for repair. Talked to Samsung and they sent me shipping label so now the device is with them for "repair". I wonder if they will send a replacement device or actually repair. Will report back in a week or so once I get it back
Got the phone back a few days ago. They replaced PMA motherboard and the phone is back to normal. IMEI remained the same. No cost to me as it was covered by warranty
@elliwigy I kinda wonder if since the board was replaced and your IMEI is still the same if there might be something left behind from the engineer firmware that would help with gaining root. Im guessing it was probably fully wiped but who knows.

Same issue as you guys. Odin update failed and gave me the "recover via Smart Switch" language. Hold down power to restart the phone and screen wouldn't light up again. Cannot believe how fragile Samsung phones are. No actual recovery mode
Do you not get Updates like us with carrier phones on an Unlocked phone?? Never use Smart Switch for Updates.
I like to flash mine with unlocked firmware and never bother with carrier stuff. In any case, I am at the Samsung 837 store in New York because that’s a hard brick. Samsung say they replaced the screen, board, and battery under warranty
Hi all!
My device’s power button is misfunctioning, and in the future my phone will probably run out of battery.
Thus, I need to find a way to turn on my device without using the power button.
I have read a lot, and I think that there are 3 ways of doing so:
Using Samsung 300K Tool (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/samsung-300k-tool-t3847487) – This option is not working for me, the software doesn’t read my phone.
Entering Download Mode – It is supposed that when pressing Volume Down + Home + Pluging in the phone, it will enter Download Mode, but I have been unable of doing so.
Using ADB – When the phone is off, the device doesn’t appear in the list when typing adb devices.
I think that is a driver problem, but I have installed the drivers from here (https://samsungusbdriver.com/download/samsung-driver-v1-7-11-0) and when the phone is turned on, ADB recognizes the phone perfectly, it is listed as “device”. I suppose that the driver problem is only when the device is off, because when I plug the phone turned off, windows throws a message saying “USB device not recognized. The last USB you connected malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it”. I have tried to install manually the drivers, but it said “You have the best drivers already installed”. Also, I have enabled USB Debugging.
Does anyone can help me? Maybe I’m missing something (some configuration parameter or whatever) that prevents the PC to recognize the phone when it is turned off?
Thank you very much in advance!!!
If the phone is off ADB can't work, that's not a driver problem.

thats what we do homie!! i remember fixing a "hard bricked" S3 back in the day with my jig. The mystery of a "hard bricked" phone was "unsolvable" before the jigs became widely known along with the recovery image (which im sure i still have on a hard drive somewhere LoL)
