Hey Everyone,
I purchased the 10 Plus 128 GB Prism Black on 19/04/2019. The device is excellent however I am not satisfied with their quality of packaging. When I peeled out the back plastic film I could find some very minor user level scratches which could be seen under bright light from a particular angle. On the front there were very tiny air bubbles under the screen protector which were visible under bright light only when screen is off. The free case which came out from box had minor scratches as well on the outer side.
The phone came out of the sealed box and the store from where I purchased it (Reliance Digital) is one of the best electronics store in my country which is the authorized reseller of Samsung, Apple, Redmi, LG, Htc and many more. I tried showing the scratches to the staff over there but they said they couldnt find any scratches and it might just be fingerprint smudge mark or dust. The same thing happened with me when my iPhone X Silver came out of the sealed box, from the same store. All other phones that I purchased from that store like s8, iphone 6, iphone 6s, honor view 20 came out exactly perfect.
Also, the device's box had 1 imei sticker missing.. I don't know why. My other phone Galaxy A50 had all the 3 imei stickers on the box, Galaxy A8+ also had 1 imei sticker missing from the side of the box.

I think you have personal issues if you're analyzing packaging under bright lights.

With bright light I mean normal daylight or when some light shines on it.
It's been awhile but I can remember my packages arriving kind of messy...
I found the box itself to be flimsy, cheaper feeling than my S3, but to be fair is the same box as my S8 so it counts for that too.
Aside from that, the inside was 100% perfect, specially the case, because the case comes inside another box, so if yours has damage, you probably should return if possible

Bad luck for me then,
I wouldn't say that exactly as damaged/broken/deeply scratched/bent but the scratches present on the back of s10+ and the cover were typically due to dust during packaging or manufacturing/testing and since the colour which I chose was black, it was very easily detected.. It has been 2 days and I got some more scratches/marks on my case and the back side of my phone (like small shiny dots and thin lines which shine in light under some angle even if the phone was all the time in the cover since I purchased it.. Except of the very light scratches on my device, the device is working stunningly without any defects. Some other people had also found air bubbles and scratches over their screen protector on s10+ because there is no extra protective layer above it.
About case, yes its inside a white box along with the papers, but there is a big hole in that box and enough gap to allow dust to go inside and scratch it during transportation or during packaging/manufacturing. I just wrote a feedback to the store and Samsung, both.
About returning, I tried it as soon as the box was unsealed and I found it, but the guy said he was not able to see the scratches though. Also, there is no return/refund policy in our country for Samsung/Apple phones.. I dont know about other brands because I didnt tried any. The process here is that if your device is not functioning properly or if any defect arises within 14 days of purchase, you have to take it in service and if they are not able to fix the issue, they will sign the DOA Certificate and seal your phone and accessories in its box, then you need to visit back the store (from where you purchased that device) and show the DOA certificate. After that, you can purchase anything from that electronics store of that same price or more price. Apple don't have even DOA/Return/Refund policy in our country.. all what they do is repair if there is any defect and nothing in case of cosmetic damages.
I hope they bring soon return/refund policy for electronics store in my country.

What is the little black square sticker that comes in the box? It says VOID all over it. I know it's some sort of sticker, but for what?
Goooood question...i dont know
Thats a really good question, I thought maybe it was a gift to my kid from HTC?
LOL has me thinking also....
Maybe when exposed to light it goes to VOID...... can anyone who has a Touch on order please open the box in the dark to check this?? j/k!!
Was it attatched to anything? With the Diamond, the boxes were sealed by Void stickers. When you cut them or peel them, they reveal the word to basically say you've no guarantee that this is an unopened product. Makes quality testing a *****... But the ones from Orange haven't had that sticker.
I had presumed it was to seal the box to indicate it was untouched from the factory .... rather odd to place it inside the box, then
Mal
My guess is that the box should have been sealed with this sticker after the reseller had checked the contents and added any relivant items if they were selling it as a package (like extra memory cards etc.)
I suppose in this case they did not bother.
No, see that's what's wierd to me. It's just ........there. Here, I'll upload a pic of it.
Here it is. So, any more ideas?????
Phones have a moisture tamper in the battery opening that dies in red if the phone has been in contact with water- this voids the warranty. Could it be a tamper to check if the box had too much heat or was in a too humid place during transportation?

Yes.... that's my take on it as well.
The stickers are LDI's or Liquid Damage Indicators. If they get tripped and turn red or pink your warranty is null and void.
....Or to put it another way ~ HTC's 'Warranty Get Out Clause'
Beards
don't jhave it in my UK Orange box...
No matter what... you can use it as a badge

Orange may have bought a batch of uboxed devices, get them branded by a third party company and boxed in the destination place, that's why they don't need the tamper, the box comes form a different logistic point.
That's a good idea clope, but here's the problem with that.............It was inside the plastic that the discs, memory card, & etc. come in. It would take a butt load of moisture to get in there. By the time the moisture got into that plastic, the phone would have started to mold. But, great idea. I was just curious. If ya'll don't think it serves a purpose, I'll put it away.
Its a light sensitive sticker
Its light sensitive... My family works at logistic and transportation for manufacturing, and for example the roll of fiber optic cable of Corning (yeah the same ones that make Corningware kitchen pans, pots, etc.) came sealed in hard plastic containers with a lid and a numbered lock, some of the big rolls come with a bunch of those inside so they know no one tampered or opened the container i.e. cut some of it (say a mile or two, this are really big rolls!!!)save the buyer...
That still doesn't make sense lucasabeto as mine was at the very bottom of the box in the plastic bag the discs etc came in. So someone could still take the phone and leave the black sticker thing intact.
I think its all a consipiracy I tell ya, I do muahahah. Uh umm right I'll be going then
None of the above is true, close though
THE STICKER IS THE PACKAGE SEAL AND IS INCLUDED IN THE BOX FROM FACTORY.
On some HTC products, one or two of these stickers are used to seal the package, as is the case with ALL REAL TOUCH DIAMOND PACKAGES as they can only be sealed using stickers, the box simply has no other way to keep the lid on.
In case of the HD box this is not true, it is magnetically sealed.
Second, what was guessed once above is true: resellers often use this/these stickers to put a permanent seal on the package, which you'd void once you try to remove/open it.
And I found a good use for it!!
My battery cover had a liiiittle gap Nothing serious, but sometimes I could hear/feel a squeaky sound when pushing on the side of the back cover. I put a piece of this sticker on the inner side of the cover and - Voila! it sits tight as hell
As stated it's probably there to seal the box....and of course they don't put it on at the factory just incase the reseller decides to pull your 8gb card to resell it
I just received my Xoom from Motorola yesterday (I got the 25% off) but when I opened the outside delivery box, I immediately noticed that the Xoom package box does not have any plastic wrapping on it. I can easily open the lid and see the Xoom in it.
Not only that, the plastic screen protector has finger prints on it. I first thought that someone had opened it and used it but when I turned the Xoom on for the first time, it had a start up screen telling me how to get started so it looks like it has never been used. The battery at that time was at 80%.
I was about to sell it as "being brand new and never opened" so it would sell easier. But after looking at the package and thinking that it has been used, I went ahead and used it so it is no longer brand new. Therefore, I can no longer sell it for a better price.
So what does your package look like when you first received it? Does it have a plastic cover on the outside box? For those who bought it at Best Buy or other retail place, how was the packaging?
From other posts and me looking at the box at BestBuy. The box is not shrink wrapped and there is no tape holding the lid down. Some what of a poor packaging design in my opinion.
Your Xoom was new. The box isn't wrapped at all. You will see prints on the plastic cover because someone handled it and got it all ready for you.

I agree with you on that one. I wonder how many peolpe accidentally dropped theirs when they first opened. Oh well.
My packaging sounds the same as the OP except in addition to the fingerprints, the clear sticker covering on the sides were slightly peeling off the corners with noticeable dust/residue sticking to them.
If you didn't have to go through the whole setup and registration process upon turning the Xoom on then someone else has messed around with it. Other than that it might be that the packagers checked the item before shipping but I highly doubt that. It was indeed very poor packaging for a $800 device. Another rush decision on Motorola's side?!?
I received mine in much the same condition. Box was open, papers and Xoom jostled and out of place. The corner of plastic protecting the screen was peeled up and debris was stuck to the plastic. I didn't notice any fingerprints so I doubt it was a 'used' product, they just did a lousy job with the packaging. You would think that for an $800 device they would have done something fancy.
Thanks, at least I now know that I am no the only one.
Unfortunately, now I cannot sell it as "brand new" since I am now using it. Oh well, the worse that can happen is to sell it at the same price that I paid for it within the next 6 months. At least I get to play with it for the next 6 months while waiting for a better tablet.
Brand new, no smudges or fingerprints.
Box was not sealed with any plastic, however the inside was very organized and the plastic covering the Xoom was fully attached
Box arrived packed in a brown shipping box (standard shipping box -- via FedEx 2 day) packed with large-size bubble wrap.
Yours might not be used but mines came in a bag. I ordered a speaker dock with it and the gel case.

Mine was shrink wrapped.
Got mine from best buy exacly how the op got his.
I got one from best buy on launch and the 25% off model and they both came the same unsealed way. The motorola one came with the box inside a clear bag but still unsealed
Mine came from Moto unsealed, half open, and everything jostled.
They shipped in a box that was too big, and with not enough air bags to secure it. So in transit, the bags shifted, the top of the Xoom box opened, and then contents got shuffled around.
Sounds just like mine. Big letdown to see it dusty, fingerprinted and the plastic peeled up.

Mine came from Moto in a box bigger than needed without padding and the shipping box itself was beat up and crushed. Moto inside was in brand new condition as was the box but the XOOM box was unsealed in a plastic bag. Moto inside looked like it had never been touched.
Hey I made these videos so you can all laugh at me ok? You can probably guess I'm not the next Youtube sensation... The videos were done by the X5. The pics by a Galaxy 5 (What a crap camera...)

A few notes:
Purchased from this link: TPU Case
Would I recommend this case? Hell Yes.
Would I recommend this eBay seller? Probably. Postage was pretty slow, but I had no problems at all. (I ordered on the 26th of May today is the 14th of June)
Also included with the screen protector is some kind of scratch repair stuff. I don't know how to use it though, luckily my screen is scratch free.
I got the first generation of the sikai cases. The fat, ugly, matte ones. Still they fit perfectly, and can really absorb shocks. The included screen protector was of above average quality.
They are a bit pricey though, I got an amazing TPU case for my Desire Z for 5$ or something wichi is actually 2 cases due to the weird design of the device. Anyway, I dont see any other option right now, so I recomment the sikai cases too.
I bought a black Sikai case off of Taobao. But it is different from yours. Mine covers more of the front on the phone. Awesome case, it will protect the screen should you drop it face down. Screen protector, not so awesome. Caused the screen to have a grainy image by distorting the pixels. Went and paid 40 RMB for a heavy duty screen protector custom cut for the screen and camera lens. What is the blue film thing that came with it?
Hey Poulsen8r
Can you give any feedback on a couple of things...
I have a Nillkin case i bought off e-bay. It fits nice but I found that when sticking the USB in the case got in the way and stopped it from going in all the way.
Same with the headphone jack.
The holes were too small on mine...I noticed your USB hole was much bigger and wondered how you are finding plugging in.
Cheers
Ordered one and it arrived yesterday...it took almost 30 days.
The case is excellent especially around the the USB port. The headphone space is still a little narrow for some of my headphone jacks but better than before.
It feels sticky to the grip which is nice as the phone is less likely to slip out of my hand.
I got the blacj shiny one and it looks great. The fit, especially around the front face lips perfectly.
The sent me the wrong LCD screen protectors but that's OK. I didn,t get any of the extras like cute badges or anything like that.
I recommend this brand
i have one and is near perfection
yeah i have one too, and its great!
Poulsen8r, what is color of the cover you have bought: Light Blue or Dark Blue? I'm guessing its Dark Blue, am I correct?
that's a light blue case
Are you sure? It seems more darker than the light blue.
Sent from my u8800 using xda premium
yes, i'm sure. i have the same one.
Thanks! Now buying it!
it's a great case though the screen protector that comes with it sucks
Thanks for the review! It made me buy the sikai case
hey everyone
today, 2 weeks after I purchased my Galaxy S 2, suddenly I saw a stain
I went to the lab of the store i bought the device from
they claim it's some kind of liquid which got into the screen from the speaker above the screen.
of course they can't open the screen and check what kind of material is it because it will ruin the screen.
but there is no way a liquid came in touch with my device. I watch it very carefully
last night I only played some angry birds and everything was fine
and this morning (after charging it at night while turned off) this stain showed up
does anyone familiar with the problem?
got any clue what may cause it
here are some pictures of it:

if anyone can help I'll very appreciate it. thanks
I have never seen anything like this (embedding your first two picture)
Is it possible the case you have is too tight?
The discoloration is on the inside of the screen?

the case fits fine. I bought the device with a friend and he have the same case without any strange signs on his screen
I tried to remove the screen stamp - it's not that
the touch works in the defected area
and there is no hearing problem from the ear speaker
if it is liquid, considering the way it speard
it probably happened in my pants pocket judging by the angle
but it doesnt make any sense
at the store's lab they told me if they seperate the led screen and the touch screen to check what is this stain, they can't assemble it back.
but since they dont give me warranty on the screen i'll have to pay them for new screen anyway.
any chance I can send it to samsung so they'll do the check and if it's their fault the replace will be for free?
I thought maybe some part melted into the screen, but they said every part was in it's place

That's your best bet. If something happened during assembly they'd cover the cost. If they find it's not a defect you'll probably have to pay. But I'd imagine you're still better off having it repaired by Samsung directly. Someone had their screen replaced due to breakage and it was 300 GBP just to give you some sort of reference.
I have seen moisture cause this (it does not take much) and it will normally dry/clear up albeit very slowly.
the stain keeps growing
and i'm sure i didn't add any water/moisture to it in the last 24hrs
it's so strange...
I'm having trouble contacting the local samsung here
hopefully they won't send me to the store I bought the device from
I saw a display replacement on ebay which cost 85 GBP (will loose the warranty of the other parts, not to mention ruin the whole device)
if I'll do it at the store it'll cost 220GBP
it's a hugh bet to send it to samsung. it can cost 300 GBP not including delivery
any suggestion which path should I take?
it almost sounds like the digitizer/screen sandwich is coming apart?
You are out of the store return window to just return for exchange? If there was a return period (not some shady store with missing return policies), just demand a refund, tell them it is not from water. Demand to speak with the manager.
Does your unit carry warranty from Samsung? I think the way this one works, you send it in, they evaluate it, if they admit it is their problem they will fix for free. If they say "it is water damager, user error" they will offer to fix for a fee, and you can still refuse and pay for the return sipping of your phone. So I believe most you will be out is shipping both ways.
Swapping the screen yourself may require some good skills - do you have them?
no returning after turning on a device
warranty on hardware only except screen&touch (had to sign on it when bought the device)
I dont think I have the law at my side
I guess I can only count on the manufacturer
no store here gives warranty on screen&touch
and this store was the only one which let you change the ROM without loosing warranty on hardware
the device also comes with their custom ROM and no recovery mode (so no one will steal their ROM)
Is it cancelling my warranty with samsung itself?
update:
here is a fresh picture
h++p://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/28/img20110712wa0000.jpg/
you can see it grows
and this time i used a whole white screen and found something new
you can notice there is a burn of the status bar in the corner
That is definitely a "liquid" stain. Aim next time bud. That is all

Hello,
I am having small light leakage issues exactly above the s8's front camera and iris scanner. Also found it on all the sides of the screen. At some places it is more but at some places it is more brighter light ( for e.g. just directly above front camera and iris scanner). There has been a long debate going on over internet whether this is a defect or light refraction and will this affect dust/water resistance ?
Some people advise to replace the device having this issue, when they get a replacement they have this issue in it too.
It would be really helpful if any Samsung Staff could officially check it in his/her S8 and with this colleagues about this and reply.
P.S. : The light leakage is more visible in a dark room, with a white background on screen and on full brightness. (Just for reproducing this issue).
Thanks.
I don't think you need worry about this. I noticed the same on my s8 when I received it. When I broke the screen, I had it repaired through Samsung's Premium Repair. Premium repair points do in-house repairs while retaining OEM warranty. The screens are supplied to these repair points directly by Samsung. Screens are already attached to the metal housing when they're supplied for repair. This means that replacing a screen requires replacing the housing as well.
All this to say, after the repair, I still have the same (slight) backlight bleed above the camera, even though my screen/housing were replaced with a factory OEM part. I think it's normal.
EDIT to add the following:
When it was repaired, I was assured it would stay water and dust proof. For screen repairs, they lift out the electronics of the phone through the back and put it in the new screen/housing. After the repair, I noticed some transparent, rubbery residue on the back of the phone. I assume this is the adhesive they use to stick the phone together, whilst making it dust/water proof. Since it is clear in nature, it would be no surprise that even though it passes light, your phone is properly sealed.

I Visited two different Samsung stores and tried their S8, S8 plus live demo units. Issue is in the retail units as well. I guess I will not waste my time anymore to visit the service center because they can sign a replacement for my device only from the store where I bought my device and the issue is in their live demo units as well.
