Hello, after probal pixel experience, dot os, extended aosp, and crides based on foot, I can say that the point is the best in terms of battery and performance, since it has published problems and social networks, but I would like to know if someone has tried some better?
Huh?

Will Active Display from the Moto Suite still work once the Moto X Pure is rooted? I know with using certain ROMs you lose this feature...

Rooting would not break anything except for Android Pay (due to security concerns). Flashing a ROM depends on the features of the ROM. CM and AOSP based ROMs would lack any Moto features like Moto Voice and Active Display but often substitute "stock android" features like Ambient Display instead.
Have anyone noticed any improvement in a particular custom rom (LOS/RR) in battery life compared to stock N?

Battery life looked better than stock in most ROMs, but the biggest gripe from my side is the sound/volume. For example, Invicta ROM has everything you would expect from a custom ROM (according to me, its the only ROM you could have for the moto g4 plus), but I immediately came out of it as the in-call volume and speaker volume are way too low - which are the BASICS for a phone. After this, I tried out several ROMs and all appear to have the same issue. Stock is the way to go buddy, because at the end of the day, you can live without all those features, but without hearing the other person on a call or unable to hear a sound playing out of your phone will totally turn you off.
Hope this helps.

I have been using LOS on my moto g4 plus since it was officially released (7.1.1 now 7.1.2) and I have seen how the devs take leaps and bounds when making a custom rom stable. In the beginning, LOS was far more stable than any other rom and that's why I used it however it still had significant battery drain. Today LOS is very stable on 7.1.2 and the battery life is pretty much the same a stock rom, however with more power saving features. I am now using resurrection remix official (7.1.2) for the moto g4 plus because, due to it being based off LOS, the battery life is around the same as LOS however it has many more features which is why I use it. If you are looking for stability and good battery life, look no further than the stock rom (at least until the custom roms are stable) because on the custom roms there are still many bugs that need to be fixed and sometimes random battery drain. If you want customizability and the bleeding edge versions of Android, go for a custom rom. I suggest resurrection remix because it is a great mix of stability and customizability, however, most custom roms will be fine (just make sure to look at the reviews and make a backup)
Hope this helped

Battery life is almost the same when compairing the stock rom to the LOS(on Stock kernel). But I must suggest you using the Elemental x kernel with the Lightning Blade tunables. The Kernel tunables give you a noticable amount of battery life increase.
LOS is the most Stable and battery efficient rom available for the Moto g4 plus.
One thing that I noticed on the LOS is that the battery percentage drops very quickly while playing games.

Same happens with the stock ROM too. It's basically due to overheating,

I heard that marshmallow used to give great battery, is it true or just nostalgia? I believe that their shouldn't be any reason why marshmallow would surpass nougat ROM on battery performance. Any clue?

Yes but you'll lose out on other Nougat features and security protection.
Stock Rom has better battery life since the March security update. I was on LOS Invicta, because I wanted to be on the latest Android OS and security updates. But I just got tired of the many bugs, reboots, and updating to the newest release to fix other previous bugs. Stock is now improved and I do miss the Invicta customization, but I like how everything works right on Stock.
On stock the camera works better, for some reason it charges faster, and everything works perfect on Stock. Also Moto has been releasing the security updates faster than any other manufacturer. So for now I am going to be sticking to Stock.

Oreo roms are still in alpha builds, If you want to try oreo you can flash babyfish or frosbiten anyway, but I suggest you to install a nougat one because of battery and stability
Sadly, custom ROMs (LOS and RR) on Moto G4 Plus are really bad in terms of battery and stability. I only tried those two and I had bad experiences with them to the point that the inestability and power consumtion beated the other good things such as customizations and all that great custom ROM's stuff that stop being important when your phone starts rebooting, heating, and cant handle one day without charging constantly. But you should try them, maybe you wont experience those things. What I can say is from my experience with those ROMs.
However, I have LOS on my Moto G2 and it works like a charm on it.

LOS in G2 is amazing, thanks to Luk. Man he's a legend
Is there a possibility of porting the stock PIE rom from either G7 or other Moto phones down to the G5 plus? I don't care if it is 32 bit or 64 bit. Would not it be awesome to the stability of stock plus the sweetness of PIE?

I don't think so. There's a ***load of custom Pie ROMs out there, stock like, pixel like and what else you want. They're all based on the kernel source of the Moto G5+. A Moto G7 is a completely different device and porting that software would be inefficient and almost impossible.
Also I don't see any advantage in doing something like this, the difference between a G5 and a G7 is 90% hardware, not software.

Why would they waste so much of their time when there are **** load of pie roms out there. Android q is around the corner.
If they have time They will do bringing up of q. Why waste time on this??

I say why not? With so much overload of PIE roms for the G5 plus all over with major issues like low in-call volume, low media volumes, the "hyped Gcam" not able to take decent nonstuttering videos, would it not be prudent to have a stock PIE rom ported from either the G7 or G7 power which would definitely work out in terms of better performance for our G5 plus?
Do they even have custom ROMs for the g7 yet?

That's your opinion. These are not major issue in most people's eye. If you consider this things issue no one is forcing you to you use custom roms. Most of the users including myself don't mind these things.
That's your opinion that stock is better most of the people and devs don't share your opinion.
Second most of the devs and users don't want to use stock Android. When devs themselves don't want to use stock why would they try to port it. As it's just a hobby as most of the devs are collage / school students they do it as their hobby. They won't develop something which they don't use.
Third it's waste of time and energy most people want to use latest android in their limited budget. When q is around the corner no one waste that much of a time in this.
And last at littery require lots of work which is not feasible.

Not a major issue. It would be a major issue if you couldn't hear anything.

I think that it is 'hyped' for a reason. And, as far as I can tell, ported apps tend to show more problems. There are many options around that could probably take better, 'nonstuttering' videos, you can go ahead and try to find one that suits you.

Porting can lead to many, many bugs. Its not like you could just copy and paste and call it a day. Lot of work has to be done. If nobody did it yet is probably because either there is no reason (eg there is already a stock version, many custom ROMs available, etc) or because it would require so much work that it isn't worth it.

Now that i bought moto one power after using stock android pie now i get what you were trying to say. Its lot better experience overall. Because its android one phone it has all pie goodness like app actions , slices , digital wallbeing , proper pie recents with search bar and predictive apps in recent apps with moto goodness like moto display , chop chop . Twist to camera.
I never new what i was missing.

My main complaint with stock ROMs when compared to customs ROMs on all of the Moto phones I have owned (5 of them) is bloat. Secondly, performance and battery life tend to be sub-par. I have tried several custom ROMs on my G5+ and they all have pros and cons. That said, I recently settled on ArrowOS Pie with Opengapps pico and am quite satisfied. It has great performance and battery life without any of the apps I don't need or want. Furthermore I don't see any of the issues you mention above. Finally, the camera works well and doesn't have the lag seen in other versions. Give it a try! :good:
Please suggest a custom rom for moto g5 plus which is completely bug free and great performance and smooth experience.
I already tried Pixel Experience both CAF & AOSP and faced black screen issue during call.
Any other custom is better and bug free ? Please suggest here.

If you're looking for something that's completely free of bugs and top performance I recommend rooted stock Oreo.
Every custom ROM out there has some small issues but if you really want to change to a custom it would be up to you to test them by yourself. Just read the ROM threads and what the users are saying. A good indicator is the number of posts.

Yes, It is 100% correct. I always thought it. The original stock rom is completely bug free and there is no others.
I've used OmniROM for years now, the previous and current version. I haven't had any bugs whatsoever. I'm not sure the differences from Stock but I love the options Omni offers.
I'm using 8.1 currently. https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/rom-omnirom-t3735886
Hello, I would like you to recommend roms for the Moto G6 Plus based on your experiences. If you can recommend me a ROM based on your gaming performance that would be great. Or if not, it would also be great if you could recommend me a ROM that is stable and works well, I look forward to your recommendations
