OEM Unlock - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hello, i've installed TWRP, and rooted my sgs8 with magisk, when i was on 8.0 Oreo stock rom, then i did update the software to 9.0 pie, thorught TWRP, using the ROM found on this forum.
Now i'd like to install TWRP and root my device, but the OEM unlock option is gone. And yes, i did wait the 7 days after updating firmware. What should i do? I'm kinda newbie here.

If you installed a custom Pie rom and kept TWRP, and you can access TWRP, you're fine. If it's stock ROM, and you didn't patch RMM, you'll need to re-wait 7 days.

[kenzo] No Data on Nougat, TWRP problem ?

Hi guys,
So I have a lot of data problems with Nougat roms (7.0 and 7.1.1).
CM based roms don't work for me, no data at all.
Last week I tried CitrusCaf 3.0 and my data worked a day then disappeared...
So I tried CitrusCaf 2.2 and it worked great until a few hours ago, I rebooted on TWRP didn't flash or do anything then rebooted the system and no data ....
I backed up and tried fix contexts, still no data.
I am on TWRP 3.0.2-2.
Do you think TWRP did something? Is it possible? Can we fix it?
I got the same problem, but only in 7.1.1 roms. If the roms were 7.1.0 or lower, data was working fine. I tried several firmwares and nothing. Only in cm based roms.
I have my problem fixed now. I have flashed a miui rom with miflash via edl(my bootloader was locked), and applied to official bootloader unlock.
I already got the official unlock, and I tried cm 7.1.1 and data works.
So I just need to grab a rom from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/links-direct-official-download-links-t3449488, reboot into edl, flash with Miflash and reboot then fastboot twrp, rom, gapps....
My bootloader is already officialy unlocked.
Well, at least it worked for me. You can try. If your bootloader is unlocked, you don't need to go from edl. You can do it from fastboot. You might need to flash firmware after coming from miui.

Axon 7 2017G OTA Updates with unlocked bootloader, TWRP, and root

Hi, I have an Axon 7 2017G with an unlocked bootloader, twrp, and root. Now I have the stack rom V1.0.0B09 and I have some OTA updates to do.
How I have to proceed if I want to update? There is some issue if I will update with TWRP or with an unlocked bootloader?
What is the procedure to have the last rom and, at the same time, maintain an unlocked bootloader, TWRP?
Thanks ,
youngz
Find a firmware thread, download what you need and flash in twrp. You don't get ota now.
Ok, so, if I will able to find the updates (also from the zte website?), can I flash them with TWRP? Have I to perform all the steps or I can install directly the last update for my device?

Use raystef66's thread. Download a stock recovery from there (for example some Nougat stock recovery) and the latest stock ROM. Then flash the stock recovery through TWRP and reboot to system. After that go to Settings - Updates, and it should find the update, just le tit update

How to Root OP2 running on the latest update 3.6.1?

I recently downloaded the latest upgrades to the firmware. Need help with rooting this device now. It's running Oxygen OS 3.6.1 and Android 6.0.1.
u can use same methods .. like unlock boot loader and flashing any custom recovery!
You need to unlock your bootloader, then flash TWRP recovery through fastboot, and then flash Magisk or SuperSU through TWRP.

Always returns to stock recovery

Good morning all,
I tried 2 days ago to upgrade to Oreo and since then all my troubles began.
I have unlocked bootloader and encrypted device.
The problem is that in every reboot a stock recovery shows up ,while i have installed the latest blue spark or any other recovery.
Now i can only install stock rom with no root.

Are you going for root? I think you have to flash Magisk (or other root-solution) in order for your custom recovery to stick.

In Nougat that was not the case, maybe in Oreo there is something different?
I'm having a similar problem! I'm rooted, unlocked, and decrypted but I can't seem to install any Oreo Rom. Do I need to re-encrypt my rom??

No, I managed to load the latest twrp recovery and without reboot I installed the xXx rom Oreo.
After that there was an App installed already called TWRP recovery. Since I flashed the recovery again through that app the problem is gone.
Now I have Oreo xXx rom and everything works fine.
After fastboot flash recovery, reboot into recovery and flash recovery IMG again. Then it will be there regardless of what ROM encrypted or not.

From Oreo Rooted to Pie Rooted

Hi i've actually a S8 on Oreo base band G950FXXU4CRI1 it's rooted with TWRP installed and Magisk. I would like to upgrade to Pie especially for the Dark mode option. I would like to know what is the good process, actually my S8 do not propose any Update from the settings. Do i've to install it from TWRP ?
When rooting the device, you'll lose the OTA auto-update function. You'll need to flash a new ROM on TWRP.
It's pretty straightforward, the procedure us the same as with updating an installed ROM (however in this case it's a good idea to do a full wipe before flashing).
If you want full stock ROM, you can flash it with Odin.
OK thx so i can download my firmware from updato.com flash it after a wipe with TWRP and TWRP will stay on the device i'll just have to redo a root process after Pie upgrade, that's right ? And if i install with odin i'll lose TWRP am i right ?
Hello, I rooted my Galaxi S8 exilon with V-8.0.0./ Android Oreo whit odin v- 3.13 . want to upgrade to 9.0 Pie... someone knows how and where to do it?
