Android Auto - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Just evaluating AA and looks great (tried with Waze and Spotify)...
But my op6t becomes quite hot. It's not the case running Waze directly on the device.
Does someone got/knows that issue?
I feel that it's because the device is charging in the same time (because USB connection is a must for current version of AA)
Rem: I m on Ford Sync3 (Nov 18)

Yes, my device gets warm while connected and running AA.
Now if they would just fix the lack of sound for notifications.

Nougat just ruined bluetooth on this phone

So I guess I was spoiled with last version of android because for me with that last version, I could reasonably easily install android auto, have it start playing when I got into my truck, have it stop as soon as bluetooth disconnected etc. Predictable in other words.
Since the upgrade... bluetooth is... just bad. Selects one of many music apps at random apparently to open when I connect to bluetooth... And apparently likes to just sit and lag like 5 seconds before it realizes its no longer connected... so I have music blasting out of my phone when I get out of the car.
Removing all pairing information and resetting wireless connection info and re-pairing didnt resolve anything at all for me.
Any one else experiencing the same thing?
I had wacky issues with multiple 3rd party music apps (rocket player, amp) and found that only Samsung Music and Play Music were at all reliable when interoperating with my car via BT or my various BT headphones.
Same behavior KK/MM, haven't bothered trying the 3rd party stuff since getting N.
Currently I only have Play Music on my phone and it works fine in all use-cases.
So, I don't so much think it's the BT so much as it's the other apps and how well they do or do not integrate and behave with the system.
I"d advise paring your system down to one music player and testing and working up from there. PITA, to be sure.
I use power amp with no issues
I typically use Android auto and Pandora... But it's definitely considerably less predictable. I manually installed qa6 prior to being officially available. Is it possible that this could be the reasoning?
Earlier today turning off the car the music playing didn't ever stop when what I've noticed is I get like 5-10 seconds after car shuts off.
There have been issues with Bluetooth on some devices after the update. Sometimes a factory reset fixes the issue, but not always.
My Bluetooth has always been stupid when it comes to Android in general, I'll be last listening to Spotify and when I hop in my car my phone will start playing the last podcast I was listening too instead (even though that app was killed and not running anymore) or it will start up Play Music which I haven't used for days instead, sometimes it will connect right back to what I was last using but most of the time, even before this update, it would randomly pick some other app that streams over Bluetooth instead. Needless to say, I never had this happen with my iPhone when I had it, no idea why Android is so wonky when it comes to this stuff
I have no issues with BT and connect to about a half-dozen devices regularly including AA in my car. If you use Smart Switch or other method of restoring apps used by AA they won't work. You have to uninstall them and reinstall them manually. That isn't Nougat related it was the same way with Marshmallow. I learned the hard way when I went through two Note7's to end up with a S7 Edge.

I use Spotify with Adroid Auto with no issues since getting N. I have connected to two BT 4.0 devices and a 4.1. As another poster mentioned, it could be the apps you are using, but I think it has more to do with qa6. If you manually updated, there is always a risk. I love hacking my phone, but there is always an accepted risk. Best bet is probably a factory reset and/or rolling back your update (if possible) to allow the automatic update take effect.
When I am talking in my truck via Blue Tooth since the update it will randomly drop the connection. It seems to work fine with my Earbud (PLT_E50) though.
the main issue I've seen... music playing does not stop when my head unit turns off anymore. Thinking the early released OTA nougat qa6 was what I was running and that may somehow be different than what att actually sent out, I fully wiped, reverted back to pk1, let it do the att upgrade to qa6.
This morning, I noticed the exact same thing... its pretty good about start playing when I get in the truck and it connects to bluetooth etc... it just doesnt turn off for a LONG time after blue tooth device is turned off.

Nexus 7 To Replace Head Unit

Good afternoon,
So after seeing a bunch of videos and out of boredom I ordered almost all the pieces to make the switch. Was amazed by how simple it was until I noticed that the OTG cable was not supported by the Nexus 7? And that to my understanding I would have to root and install a custom rom in order to do this?
Well I did some research and found timurs rom and installed it. Well noticed gapps wasn't installed. Went to install gapps then I spent an entire Saturday trying to get it to work with no avail. I'm not skilled in this line of work. Alot of the articles I'm finding are from 2012 -14.
Just wanna make sure I'm making the right steps not sure if there has been a new way of doing this or possibly an easier method? Would greatly appreciate it if someone could assist with this.
I would love to have GAPPS on which ever ROM will give me the requirements to install the Nexus as my head unit. Im just not entirely sure how to get it to work proplery. I apologize for my lack of knowledge in advance.
List of parts
-nexus 7 (wifi)
-radio harness
-otg
-usb hub
-dac (behringer UCA222)
As well as some other misc items such has a volume knob, just awaiting the Amplifier.
Thank you for your time, hopefully someone can help me with this :good:
So from what I've gathered Autodroid is the newest rom, just downloaded it. Will be giving it a shot tonight. If someone could help me with Google apps and installing it on there that would be awesome!!!

For Autodroid, look for Slim-Addons-mini_gapps.4.4.4.build.9-20150107.zip from Here.
I had issues with OTG+Charging with Autodroid, but the more i have been tweaking and trying different things, I think the high temperatures were what caused the tablet not to charge. Monitoring the battery, I have noticed when the temp is over say 110* F, it will not charge, but will hold the charge and not drain the battery. The lower the temp gets the faster it starts charging.
I would suggest not converting to F2FS if you plan to use OTG. I could not get it to work properly.
I'm currently running LineageOS 14.1 with Powereventmanager 1.8 installed. This has been working well for me the last week or so, but some issues have me wanting to go back to Autodroid. One issue i've noticed lately with LineageOS is the sound quality doesn't seem as good as Autodroid. It sounds decent for my factory system, but what bugs me is the volume control is not sensitive enough, its either way too loud or too quiet. There may be ways to fix this though, as i have not had time to research a fix. I dont run a DAC, I run my tablet via bluetooth to a headunit hid behind the tablet, so you may not have this issue.
Another issue i have is with PowerEventManager. It will put the tablet to deep sleep, but usually not the first time i turn the ignition off. I have to turn the ignition back on then off, then it will trigger powereventmanger. No big deal, but is a pain since i have to constantly make sure it does go to sleep.
You can also add the volume control buttons to the nav bar through the "buttons" setting. You can add media controls too. This works well for the most part, but there are times the icons disappear, though the control is still functional. I think this issue is caused by my icon size, but not 100% sure.

Hey thanks for the response!!
I ended up getting timurs rom to work. I attempted to go with Autodroid but it would never load up. Attempted timurs rom and it worked and figured I'd try gapps and finally it worked perfect and I have no issues now.
Now I'm trying to find the best method to incorporate Bluetooth to the car. I'm replacing my entire head unit with the tablet. I wanna be able to play music from my phone and have it come out of the cars speakers.
Any suggestion on that?

Autodroid, you have to flash the kangaroo kernel after you flash the rom. there are people that say you have to flash a version of SlimKat and dirty flash Autodroid over it, but i never had to do this.
Check out HeadUnit Reloaded. it is an Android Auto clone. allows you to make a receive calls, stream music from your phone. There is a 5 minute trial, so make sure you have everything set up before you give it a try.
I've been debating on switching to a DAC, just so i can have better volume control. Something about using software buttons for control is just a pain. I've also thought of hard wiring my removable face from the head unit to somewhere it is accessible, but not sure i want to go through the trouble.
Have you thought of just using the phone as a hotspot and using your tablet for everything else? This is what i do and it saves me from having to fidget with my phone all the time.
Another tip for you, though i dont know what DPI Timurs rom is set at, but on AutoDroid I always increased the DPI to make things on screen larger and easier to control, since it is in a vehicle. I believe i had mine set at 230..
I'll be switching back to Autodroid this evening. the bugs i encounter using LineageOS have just been too much to deal with. Worked great for awhile, just need something more stable and worry free.

I have thought about being able to supply a hot spot with my note 5. I found ways of getting around it without rooting it but those have seemed to be disabled. Still hoping to come across a simple way of doing it without paying for it or rooting the phone since I'm currently on the "lease program". I plan to keep the phone once I'm finished paying on it so I believe I should have an issue. I just don't wanna end up screwed if for some reason I have to turn it in and I get hit with a large fee since it's rooted.
I will definitely look into that app, can it be connected thru Bluetooth or just wifi? If wifi I will have to wait until I figure out how to make my phone wifi tethering enabled.
Also I though of an idea, I have found the Bluetooth devices for everyday car stereos. Box with usb to charge and an aux to plug into the car audio. My Dac has an input and an output. I'm currently not using the input since it's all thru usb. I'm wondering if I can hook up the $20 Bluetooth piece and then aquire a female 3.5 aux cable to make rca and hook that up to the input on the dac.

I'm not sure about Bluetooth with Headunit reloaded... you can use USB. To be able to make and receive calls, you have to have it connected to a "Bluetooth headset" according to their page, but i think this is just for phone calls.. I could be wrong though. I've been curious if my head unit would act as a "headset" since my tablet is connected through Bluetooth...
One day I will buy the app and play with it more, I'm just cheap
About your DAC, I dont see why that wouldn't work. I've read of people using stand alone Bluetooth adapters with their DAC. But like i said before I dont know anything first hand when it comes to DAC's.

S10+ problems with Android Auto

Hello, I have an Exynos S10+, I bought it on the launch and since new I noticed a few issues with Android auto
1. The phone gets too hot, to the point it's hard to hold it on your hand
2. The dark phone on night never kicks in
I know there is nothing wrong with my car because it works very well with my OnePlus 6.
Any of you have the same problem? Any suggestions on how to fox them?
I am on the March update and I hope it gets fixed on the future by Samsung
Exynos s10+ here and android auto is working fine, same as it was with my s9+
mine works fine just wont play the sms messages when driving. uk Exynos
Do you guys get whatsapp notifications popping up on your android auto screens? Mine doesn't
Even i think no notifications pop up at all except song name change
My android auto won't even activate. This is the only phone I've had with this issue. What would you guys suggest?
2018 Mercedes c300
128gb T-Mobile s10+
Everything works except for screen mirroring, and reading messages
Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
s8+, Note 8, s9+ and now s10+ all with Pie and worked pretty much the same. I expected more from the 10 just because it was newer and it wasnt Beta Pie, but very little change. Only thing new , but not that new, is Google maps shows speed limit now. But ONLY during a trip. You must be actually on and navigating. For the life of me i cant think of a good reason Google would do this. Please Allow your map to show the speed limit when Maps is on screen. I've tried phone screen or through AA but No speed limit at all Tried downloading the maps, that didnt help. The only reason i even turn my vehicles on board NAV on is to see the speed limit, I use the map like a screensaver. Never know when you need to take that quick short cut! Rant over-Back on topic.. Only issue i've had and it has been consistent through all models is no notification sounds. Dodge Uconnect. (it might help the thread a little if you mentioned what car or aftermarket head unit you have.)

Please help :,) seicane HF series

Hi all,
I have a seicane hf 235 (MTCE_HF_v3.30_1) that I'm having issues with
It's the 4gb ram 64gb rom with the Cortex A53 octa core processor on android 9
My issue is it keeps freezing in apps, especially when I'm using android auto from my phone.
I'm utilizing a car play dongle plugged into USB so I can use android auto with my galaxy s20 ultra. The radio keeps freezing every couple of hours or less in use and it gets stuck on a part of whatever music I am listening to and just repeats itself very fast. The only way to fix it is to pull over and shut my car off and wait a minute or two.
It freezes the entire radio and my GPS stops working as well.
The radio also randomly disconnects from my phone while it's plugged in via USB and I'm using car play. It boots back to the main car play screen where it says "please plug in the device" but it won't pick my phone back up until I restart the car.
It also freezes if I'm streaming music over YouTube music app while connected to my phone wifi hot spot. So I know it isn't just a car play issue.
Any updates you guys recommend or any fixes I can try?
The freezing has gotten worse as of late and the radio has become almost unusable because I know it's going to freeze every time I use it.
Any help is greatly appreciated

13.6" PX6 Tesla Style Radio (Phoenix) CPU core Temps @ 119c ??

Yes, running at 115-120 at times - and usually shuts off - crashes and doesn't come back on for a bit.
Originally, about 90min of use - the radio would crash as above - Phoenix tried MCU/CanBUS updates and even a format and restore.
Same.
So I got curious to see if heat was an issue - and yes - 2 independent apps report these temps - maxing out about the approx. time my unit would crash.
It's 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid TT.
Not sure if they HU have active cooling? I doubt it.
Options? I was thinking about maybe adding a 5v USB fan (if it will fit..) or some Heat sinks but the vast majority of the unit is plastic...
Thoughts?
