I manually updated to pie just few hours ago and this is what I found
1. Ambient Display : settings>display>advance>Ambient Display
It works only when you get a notification (its dope would like it being enable always) though Daydream nowhere to be found.
2. icons in overview/multitasking screen
Settings>apps>default apps>home app> quicksetup(new name for launcher3)>home screen>home settings>change icon shape >go back to your preferred launcher.
3. text selection zoom
Click hold on text>use those selecter thingies> thats it (its a good accessibility feature but causes problem for me)
4. fast animation disabling
Go to accessibility settings (I'm getting lazy)>scroll down>remove animation>done(0.5x animation is better)
5. iPhone style unlock
Security>faceunlock>show notification (it see's your face and shows the notification but you need to swipe up up to unlock)
[Longcut : apps and notification >notifications>on lock screen>detect face to show notification
6. automatic system update
Now in developer settings
7. system tracing
Dev settings>system tracing (improve performance by learning my activity?)
8. display cutout
Dev settings... (Asus added pixel 3xl notch, galaxy fold and top+bottom notch why not tear drop or iPhone x size? IDK)
I will add as I find more....
New findings
9. pie Easter egg
About phone>Android version>click on 9 in pop up screen (sometimes crashes on me using nova launcher
10. no fingerprint gesture
Button remapper> add new button >swip no results.. (if you think it wasn't there i tried a app when i first got the phone 8-9 months ago and it worked the stopped after a update...)
11. camera2api
Used the camera2 probe and it shows legacy ( I didn't unlock camera2api in oreo or in pie will do it in future when i get access to a pc).
Again if I find anything more I'll let y'all know
12. lock as if power button press
Nova users go to nova settings scroll down to advance lock method ( no more waiting 5 seconds for screen locking or not being able to unlock with fingerprint/face unlock)
Good work, seems you have been checking out the features diligently !

The rom is not booting. I have already tried multiple times using magisk 18.1 and 19.0. With 18.1 i got a black screen after the asus logo while booting and with 19.0 the screen just gets stuck at asus logo. Looks like i will have to patch boot image.

Yes u need to Patch it via Magisk Manager.
0. Select “Patch Boot Image File” in Magisk Manager
1.It generates patched_boot.img file
2.copy that file into adb folder in pc
3.Flash it via fastboot on boot partition.
Command: fastboot flash boot filename.img
*Replace 'filename' with the right bfr flashing .

Special thanks to rootjunky. I used part of his work to get this done. Enjoy
1. Startup priv
2. Connect to wifi
3 when priv shows checking connection then immediately it shows software update switch of router to stop connection with the priv
4 hit next till u get to the setup pattern screen, setup a pattern lock then restart phone
5 when phone restarts phone will be locked with the pattern u setup earlier.
6 launch the dialer button from th locked screen and dial *#*#4636#*#* to enter secret menu.
7 hit on usage statistics
8 hit on the back button and u will find yourself in settings
8.1 go to users and add user
8.2 enter any existing gmail account details
8.3 after completing setup for new user go back to settings>user and tap on owner
8.4 from here proceed as per step no. 9 and 10
9 scroll down to backup and reset
10 reset phone and when phone starts up, setup a new device. That's it
Special thanks to rootjunky for tips
Detailed explanation from 8.1 to 8.4 by me.
Hello guys. I am facing a weird problem/bug. The problem is when I want to use my phone I press power button and it ask me to enter the pin. I enter correctly but then wallpaper shows for 2 to 3 seconds, then again it asks for pin. It keeps asking until I restart my phone (only then the pin works and I can use my phone) and if the phone goes to sleep it again goes to lockscreen loop. I am using Ressurection Remix 6.0 (MM) rom in my Qmobile i9 (replica of Explay Fresh). Kindly help me.
Here's a video of what problem I am facing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0f-0SpXua2M
P.S: I can't change pin or turn it off because whenever I want to change it or disable pin my SETTINGS force close. "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped working". It worked fine before but I don't know how it started happening.
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
I can't reset my phone because it asks for pin, when I enter pin it says Settings has stopped working.
Also SPFT is not working. It does not start download. I don't know what is the problem with it because last time I somehow managed to download rom with it. It sucks because it keeps detecting my phone, no downloading start!!
Help.

May be its a strange bug in the ROM. Have you tried to install stock rom through SPFT?
I use Bliss 6.0 and have no such weird issues.

Yes I tried installing stock rom but download doesn't start. I can hear the device plug in sound (windows sound when device plugged in and out) but SPFT doesn't start downloading!!!
Here's the fix of this bug:
I somehow managed to fix this bug. The things I did are:
• Uninstalled Nova Launcher (I had also installed Arrow Launcher and Trebuchet Launcher (stock launcher). So I think that uninstalling the additional launcher (which you don't use) will fix this problem.
• I set root access to "Apps and Adb" from Settings>>Developer Options
• Restart the phone and hurray device works fine!!!
So it means that Launcher is the main issue of this bug. You can try uninstalling all launchers if the problem presists (make sure you don't uninstall the stock one) LOL |
GUYS THIS IS THE TEMPORARY FIX BECAUSE I AM FACING THIS ISSUE AGAIN!
 :good:

Hello all, i am planing to describe all good and not working things about this Nougat version i found and also process i did to install it.
I would be grateful if someone can help me resolve not working things or maybe this will help developers fix them.
First, one month ago, i unlocked and rooted my phone because i wanted some additional features. TWRP was installed and worked like it should. I did not unroot phone.
Yesterday, i downloaded those 2 files needed for Nougat 336 update. I used DLOAD method.
Steps i did was:
1. Put BOTH files on SD car in dload folder.
2. Power off phone.
3. Enter TWRP via Power + Volume down button.
4. Flashed 1st (Update.zip) file and got some red line errors. (Because i read it is normal i went further).
5.Flashed 2nd file WITHOUT reboot. All was done in 1 or 2 mins, and no loading and installing screen was shown, just rebooted normally.
6. Huawei logo showed and phone start normally with nougat update (1. December security patch).
Good things i noticed while few hours of testing:
1. Better battery life
2. Twin apps working
3. App drawer working
4. System is a bit faster (apps load and work faster)
5. Less ram is used (900-1000 MB free when cleaned)
THING THAT DON'T WORK AND I NEED HELP TO GET THEM TO WORK:
1. Camera app show black screen, than shut down and restart itself. That happens all the time until i close it with square button and click on trash can. SO CAMERA NOT WORKING. I even tried some apps from app store. App works but screen is full black.
2. I have no Huawei stock apps like clock, alarm, stopwatch, calendar, calculator, file manager, not even stock sound for ringing nor message etc. They are MISSING FROM PHONE apparently.
3. Problem with sound manage. Those bars that regulate sound dont work very well. I put my Ringtone bar to MAX and i hear phone ringing and SMS sound but I dont hear app sound like Viber or Messenger sound.
4. "MOST IMPORTANT ONE": I thought maybe 2nd file did not install normally so i tried to enter TWRP again and flash it again, but I CANT ENTER TWRP!
I pressed Power+ Volume down like 10 times, I tried Power - Volume up too, even all 3 buttons, nothing happens. Just Huawei screen and phone boot up normally. When i did 3 buttons EMUI screen appeared and it said, installing updates, went to 5% and wrote: FAILED, Reboot phone.
So now i cant flash ANYTHING again. Can someone help me with this thing please. Maybe many other people will find this thread helpful.
Thank you.
Hello
I think best and remake to own.
It seems to me that the
MM recovery solution, is written at the bottom of this post. Http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...t/android-7-emui-5-0-vns-l31-l21-l23-t3513816.
To install nougat b336, maybe you should follow the original post also that is also written down this post.
your bootloader is locked
did you face nfc and bleutooth not working in that case what may i do to fix the problem and thanks in advance
So I updated my rooted 6t to Android 10 using Magisk, and everything went as expected prior to rebooting. I hit uninstall and restored images via Magisk, downloaded and installed the Android 10 update package to the inactive slot, downloaded the TWRP A/B partition module then finally installed Magisk to the inactive slot as well. Finally, from there I rebooted and it seemed to boot normally, hung a bit longer on the animation than normal but no more than 30 second or so.. it then skipped the lock screen and went straight to my wallpaper (the same one i has set, not default) BUT the system doesn't start. No icons. Can't pull up the app drawer, can't pull down the notification menu. No notification bar... Nothing.
The only thing I can do is restart the phone by holding PWR button but that just brings me right back to the same deal. I tried fastboot>TWRP recovery and was able to determine that all the system data is in fact present anyway but rebooting from TWRP also lead to the same situation.
I'm asking for advice BC the last time I messed around without knowing fully what I was doing, I hard bricked it. I'm using Blu_Spark TWRP if that makes any difference at all...
It's possible that I just need to wait longer, I read a number of reports of pixel users needing to wait hours after OTA updates but they were stock on the boot logo/animation. I'm beyond that point, only it skips the lock screen, goes straight to my wallpaper and that's it. I can't do anything at all from there.
PLEASE HELP?
Thanks!
QNE
Use MSM tool.
Download MSM tool. Unzip it on PC desktop. ConnectUSB typC cable to PC. Shutdown your OnePlus 6. Open msm download too. Click start. Press volume up and dn key simultaneously(don't touch power button). Now connect cable to phone. Progress bar of MSM download too will be active. Let it completed. Phone will boot to os. Now upgrade to Android 10. That's it.
I ended up factory resetting prior to your response, but thanks just the same. Fortunately, I didn't lose root which was my main concern anyway so no harm done. Thanks again!
Hi
RP2, GSI roms (I tried three: LOS 17, NitrogenOS, RevenageOS), arter97-kernel-r12, Magisk-v20.3
I am installing a GSI ROM, the system is working. after the third or more reboot, the phone is booted to a black black screen.
Wipe all data, phone booted.
doing something simple (install software from google play, restore data from old device via google restore)
restart
phone booting to blank black screen with sound. computer (USB) recognized the phone.
Tried with Magisk, withour Magisk, restored vendor.img from origin (I was deleted the two apks for BT).
clear data
phone booted
restore
blank again
where to start debug it ?

Yea I've had the same results as well.
Try Havoc and PE from these links. They are phhusson based and work with some bugs but at least you can boot up after the third time

If you want/need to restart if you do it via the power button then hitting restart, it will boot to a black screen. But if you hold the power and volume down till it reboots, it'll boot perfectly. Happens every time for me

Not if you let go when you see the screen turn off, then it's just a dirty restart I guess?
In my case, it only happens when you use the Encrypt password to start the device.
So I suggest skipping the encrypt part on startup setting and the problem should gone.
*Sorry for my bad English.
In my case, Don't use the "Secure start-up" thing when you set up your phone in Android 10.
Nor It will mess and cause a black screen on your device.
