So since there are a lot of mods available to improve battery life and memory management as well i thought it would be a good idea to have a place to talk about what fellow users are using on their daily driver to improve the most important things on pixel lol
Magisk modules scripts kernels build prop edits and you get the idea
So lets begin
for me, any custom ROM's battery life is better than stock ROM, the usual SOT is 7.5-8 hrs on average. If yours is much worse, the battery seems to be replaced.
As for the management issue, you can flash the custom kernel and expand the volume of ZRAM which is a conception of virtual.

Im new here soo i dont know which kernel is best for performamce nd battery, Green Apple, duki994, or the stock one...presently im in xtrestolite..
It all depends on your personal preferences.
Stock provides the best stability and performance with good battery life. But if you want to try, go for Boeflla Kernel.

Try stock, GreenApple v1 and Duki mms v1.9 beta kernel each for a week
Which ever you feel it's good use it
Because each has their own settings and battery life and performance will vary
So I recommend you to try all three each for a period of one week

See This pic
I have turned on Wi-Fi whole night and used then then only
And got 11hrs backup and still 4 hrs left
Sot 2hrs approx
When device more idle I get 1 full day battery backup on Using GreenApple v1 kernel with S7 Edge Rom
I have not tested Duki kernel fully yet so can't give it's feedback
????
All of them.
none of them
There is not so much differences between N Roms.
It s mainnly :
the apps you use (Facebook, whstsapps ....)
The brightness
LTE use far more battery than wifi
And you can change governor with script like glassfish, you will notice it will impact the heat of the cpu and then the battery drain

Has anyone used this [AKT] Advanced Kernel Tweaks with their LG V20?
If so, how good is it?
If so, what device did you choose in installing it (as it doesn't appear to have v20 as an option)?

Just an FYI the akt tweaks only work on nougat. Development ended quite awhile ago. My understanding the devs moved onto oreo and developed some tweaks search xda for something called helix engine I believe

I tried AKT on Classic rom with BTTF kernel on Ls997 and had no luck. Not sure if it was rom or kernel or what. Seemed to cut battery time in half instead of doubling. AKT would be sweet if I could get it to work right. Kernel already has no touchboost imbedded I guess btw.

Go figure...the first selection lol. I will test over a few days and see what comes about and then Ill post results.
Just a quick update so far... I am currently in midst of testing the Xana Extreme again because on my cell I was experiencing no lag or if any very slim and wanted to real test as I got it working properly via app version. The Zanah didnt seem to cause any issues as it also did increase a few hours of battery life. So far however with the Xana extreme I am currently on 26 hours since full charge and no plug since at 56% battery left. I know it is about SOT, but total life is just as important. No restarts as that kills the test. Im happy and impressed so far. Will post more after battery nears death
Here of some pics of current test so far...

Here is a shot of my initial rundown of a new 4100 mAh Li polymer battery that's the same size as the stock one (mentioned in the Accessories section and the V20 Subreddit), getting past 10 hours of screen-on time. You can ignore the averages section of the screenshot as it's the first run.
Setup: LS997, ClassicROM ZV7 | mk2000 BTTF kernel | AKT 1.6, OnePlus3/SD820, Project Zhana Battery profile
I also turn on aggressive doze when idling overnight using Naptime, dim the display down after sunset using CF.lumen, and auto-brightness is on.
So I decided to switch up atm because I wanted my GPU to not be bogged down at all. I checked the Xana battery in the balanced area and was fairly impressed. For absolute no bog down and fully clocked GPU/CPU for full performance and good battery I recommend this. Sure the results seem less, but my battery has also had hundreds of restarts and charges since I got it and who knows how many before hand. A brand new would show better. I also have a dynamic wallpaper and am running Dolby and Viper as well. Same kernel. Same rom. Same phone.
Also the pic shows 15% because phone died before I could get proper screenshot, the 95% is the key and results are still accurate.
This is my final post as to testing for this thread.

Mysticblaze,
I wanted to bring the conversation from "[Discussion] Improving efficiency and battery life of the V20." back to here since we started to get into some talk about this AKT.
There, you said, "I can get around 10hrs sot (depending) using Xana extreme battery. That's the one I'm currently on.
Have a 4200 mAh battery (reg size)"
1st - what ROM and kernel are you using with that?
2nd - is the battery 4200 or 3200 (mine's a 3200)?
3rd - any other settings I need to know about to pull 10 hours SOT?
Thank you so much!

Yes, 4200. It's a Shemnz. Got from eBay. Rom is Classic for ls997. Kernel is latest 7.0 mk2000. Hard to say on other settings. My test tho was an up to.
I left screen always on with a live wallpaper running with a covered proximity sensor for lowest Auto. Got about 10 and a half.
Okay so I've placed a brand new battery in my phone and I get about 7h SoT and 10%.
Can you guys recommend me the best ROM from your personal experience? Without any kernels!

Damn, is that an OEM battery or after market? I'd recommend ROMs with 3.18 kernels for now, because it drains a decent amount of battery. I got around 2-3 hours of sot on current unofficial pixel experience rom.

Personally, nothing beats the stock ROM is terms of battery life, still I am using lineage os 15.1 and satisfied with its battery backup as it charges superfast anyway, there is a multitouch bug on 8.1 which xioami hasn't fixed, hopefully it gets fixed in pie and I'll be back on stock. Btw how much they charged you for the battery?
Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk
I got spectacular battery life (approx. 7 hours SOT / 20% remaining) with the August security patch. I've been playing with custom ROMs, but I'm going to go back to it.
Or is it best to just stick with stock kernel?

Battery life is subjective to personal usage if someone gets 10hrs sot + 1 day of standby doesn't mean you will get it, Best advice is to try different stuff and see which suits your needs.

I meant personal needs not every kernel is built with battery in mind some are performance others are just generic code compile with latest GCC and disable warnings... Not worth wasting time with but try them for yourself and see which you like best. Yes roms are worth it if the dev is optimizing for our SoC and not just cherry picking random sh!t.

Battery life is pretty subjective to personal use as previously mentioned, but i think there is another option in town. The Oneplus 6t MC Edition charger is the solution. I needed proof and YouTube got me the evidence. Check out the video by Dave Lee on Youtube. He does a test on it.
I second Smurf Kernel.
On average I get about 10 hours screen time over 2 or 3 days before I need to charge my phone again.
