Got a Canadian S10+... Received the new fingerprint firmware ... And whatever I do it won't install.
Just vibrates twice and says couldn't install please retry. I thought it might have been secure folder messing with it, but even after disabling nothing worked.
Kind of lost as to what could be causing the issue cuz others have successfully completed installed it
Anyone fixed this bug?
Try turning off or disabling secure folder
Had the same problem. Went into a different wifi and was able to download and install
I have the same problem, as do many others. I get the notification, can download it and the installer starts, and then fails with the "can't install" message. Canadian S10+, direct from Samsung.

.... because that thread is about forcing the update for people who can't see it.
I am having the issue where I can't install it
I had the issue and finally decided to factory reset the phone. When I got the update notification the following day it installed without issue. It's a real pain to reset the phone even with restoring from backup. Be sure to re-enter fingerprints afterwards.

Forcing the update is (as noted above) only good to get the update to show up. It does nothing for us who aren't able to install it and constantly get the "couldn't install" error.
Just an update for others ... The April software update has the biometrics update already included within.
So if someone else is having the issue... Just wait for that.

Hi to everyone,
I downloaded Android 4.3 via OTA but I didn't install it immediately. After some days by mistake I cleared all the data in the Cache, so I couldn't install it because I lost the data.
I tried to clear the data in google service framework process after I checked for the updates but my phone says the system is up to date even if I have the 4.2 installed on it. How can I download the 4.3 update again in the simplest way?

Keep trying the same trick as it won't work in the first attempt.. I had tried it for almost 15 times a day..
Simple way is why dont you try any 4.3 custom rom if you are rooted??
Rooting your phone won't harm you or your phone... all upto you. :good:
I'm having little same problem.
Yesterday i received my RMA Nexus 4 and it was shipped with 4.2.2. I received notification for 4.3 to installed but when i clicked on restart and install. Notification disappeared and nothing happen to phone. since then i'm not getting any update for 4.3 at all. Triad many times since yesterday.
Any advice or trick would be welcome.

Go to settings-->Apps-->All Apps-->Google framework services.
Delete cache and data etc.
Go to dialer and 'call' this: *#*#2432546#*#*
Go to System update and your update should be there.

I havent rooted my phone because I don't want to lose warranty. I rooted my old HTC desire and partitioned the SD card as it had no space for apps. So I'll keep trying. Do you think Google will let me download again the ota? Or I'll be disabled for downloading the 4.3 seen that I already downloaded it?. Thank for your reply

Try it a couple of times. And make sure to clear cache AND data.
Maybe also Force close it.
You can also try the following:
Do exact to same but instead of typing *#*#blabla#*#* after deleting cache etc you gonna restart. After reboot go to system update it should be there.
I was lucky it worked for the first time but I remember members here tried it 7+ times and then got result.

Thanks I'll try to get the code for the URL. I have two questions:
1) Once I get the URL and I direct download the ota how can I install the updates? I mean (no root, no custom rom) just upgrade "legally"
2) Does the OTA delete the apps I have installed or any data like photos or music on my smartphone?
Thanks :good:

hahahahaha Legally? you act like rooting is going to get you thrown in jail.... LOL, well I have never done it "legally" as you say but I would assume there are directions in the link or on the web. Probably download zip to phone and there should be an update.zip option to use in stock recovery. OTA wont delete anything you have on your phone but ya know if you rooted it you would be able to nandroid all of that.
The pros of rooting out way any con you could possibly have but hey its your phone so enjoy. Also 4.3 stock is not exactly a major upgrade that you will notice but hopefully it fixes something you may have had an issue with on 4.2.2

Today I had to restart my phone because it dropped data connection, the moment I restarted it said my phone was being updated and I should wait, it wasted my time and it shoved 10o update down my throat.
If I had recovery installed, this could have been disastrous, no?
Not only for recovery related problems, but this may also prevent people from being able to install certain things, or even one day in the future with a different update just block root?
How do we uninstall then disable OTA updates on an unrooted phone? When I disabled and cancelled notifications for Software Update app, I thought it was fixed, but it probably made it worse, it just installed without any notification or prompt.
I was planning to root and install twrp this weekend, now with all the horror stories I've been reading, I don't want to do it. :crying:
How is AT&T even allowed to push it without explicit permit to install on device.

I did that when I first got the notification. Notification disappeared. 2 days later I restarted my phone for the first time in over a week, and bam, it installed without any notification at all. So disabling notification won't stop it from installing, it seems..
I know this doesn't directly help your situation since you're not rooted but this should help someone who is.
I had to freeze "Software Update 2.3.0.5" using titanium backup for it to stop. Not sure of a way to do it without root or without the pro version of titanium.

What version of the G2 do you have? I'm on Sprint and I don't have "Software Update", I have "Update Device 4.5.1.10" which I just froze.

I'm asking the same question OP is asking, is there a way to disable the update on non-rooted phones? And from experience with several other Android phones... I know it's pretty much impossible to downgrade unless you start flashing, but I'm gonna ask anyways. Is there a way to downgrade the upgrade that was forced down OP's throat and my own throat? For me it actually updated in my sleep, I woke up and it said my phone was updated. OP and I are on AT&T's D800 variant.

Well, it would still help to avoid further OTA's from being applied if we are rooted and do not use custom rom, there is always a risk of getting OTA and messing everything up, therefore if freezing above app worked for you, it should be all we need. Is Software Update the actual app which checks for version and receives pushes from AT&T when a new OTA is available, or if there are other apps/modules that does this. The problem is, if it is incorporated into android system like some of the other stuff AT&T incorporated, it would be impossible to completely eliminate it without running a custom rom.

you have to flash the old version by using LG Flash Tool, like I did.
So, I have a question for you guys. I got my phone yesterday and I'm on 10o. I installed the CWM recovery for 10o via Flashify, and now I'm concerned about OTAs - I disabled it via the Hidden Menu, but if there's an OTA to update the phone to 4.3 or 4.4, I'd like to receive it and not worry about bricking my phone.
I don't plan on doing a lot of custom ROM flashing, I really just wanted to root and install Xposed. Do I need to flash a stock ROM and go back to stock recovery, so I don't have to worry about OTAs? Or should I be good with CWM and the stock ROM that I rooted?

Hmm, possibly the removal of the 2/18 nightly screwed up the system.
Try manually updating to see if it restarts.
I know that the Xperia ZL updates don't automagically flash... (they download on the internal sdcard drive, but attempt to flash from the external sdcard drive...)

Sorry for not answer hichem but at least I see you came right.
To report back though...update went through smoothly last night.
A small (related) thing that has been bugging me though with Opendelta updates is that sometimes it takes a few Check now presses before it finds something...then it will stop and report that your system is up to date after having verified the update file you presently have and downloading the update file...press Check now again and it now patches the file before reporting that there is an update and you can flash.
Any reason to this behaviour?

I'm having the same issue. Was on MMB29Q, stock, rooted (latest 2.68 systemless), no mods. Used Fastboot to flash the MHC19I factory images. I've tried re-downloading and re-flashing the factory image with no luck. Backing up user data now to do a factory reset.

Will test and report back. Thank you.
My guess is that data needs to be wiped prior to flashing the images, dirty flash is causing problems.

I've recently got my Nexus 6P, and after setting up for first time, it received Jan update. Yesterday, I did the Feb and March OTA via adb sideload. I'm completely stock. I've reseted my device twice now, once I did restore, and 2nd time I set up device as new device. Yet my notification pull down won't work on home screen.
I haven't tried flashing factory image yet.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: I've now tried flashing 2 different builds of factory image (MMB29P and MHC19I). I still have the issue.

Are you wiping userdata when flashing? As I pointed out earlier in this thread it's most likely caused to due a mismatch in data.

yes I was wiping userdata when flashing.
I turn on debugging mode and enabled show touch, that top part (only size of status bar) wouldn't show any touch, so seemed like hardware issue.

Is there a specific version to use? Have you fixed your issue with it using an Older one?

Okay then this confirms something I redd yesterday, in the newer version of flashfire there was an update which "increased the time bomb for the free pro features to 4/1/18" so I'm guessing if you used the free load feature, the app becomes unusable after that time?

With any ROM I try to use or any Root method I try to use with the ENG kernel, everytime I grant Flashfire root and it'll go through its start up "enumerating partitions" and all of that, once it gets to the end "Checking for Pro" the app force closes and i have tried everything to fix it NOTHING works, Google the issue didn't help either, anyone know why this is happening?

I just got my phone root and was having the same issue, I went to the app on the play store and someone was saying the app was discontinued. The only people with pro can use it now. Not sure how true it is tho.

I tried that and it still crashed, reboot tried it again, same result. :crying:
Flashfire pro works as it doesn't have the time bomb
The app is not discontinued. Chainfire is just taking a break from development, so he hasn't released any updates in awhile. Either buy the pro verision, or go into system settings and change the date to something before 4/1/18, then try FlashFire again. You may need to reboot after changing the system date.
setting older date works
samsung g935a user. installed latest flashfire from store, reset date to 2017 date, rebooted phone and then flashfire works.
