Was trying to install the latest USB driver for OP6T on a work computer but the installation was repeatedly getting blocked by the AV software (Cylance Protect), apparently due to the presence of VBS scripts in the installer package. This is a work computer so I cannot disable the AV software, even temporarily. Is there a way to unpack the installer and install the drivers manually? The driver was downloaded from the unlocking thread in the News forum.
If it is a work computer, ask your IT guys for help. They may create an exception.
If they say no go, don't try to work around it. It's not worth losing your job over.

I have the SDK for windows installed and have the drivers downloaded but they can not install. Even with my phone plugged in, i have tried all 3 different usb settings and currently have debugging turned on.
NOTE: The driver im trying to install is the adb driver.
Also this may be my first android phone but i do know my way inside and out on a computer
farquep,
I'm an Android newbie myself, but I don't think you need those SDK drivers. I tried installing them, and they weren't working for me, either.
I'm not sure if you're trying to root/enable sideloading on your phone, but I found that the drivers included with HTC Sync seemed to get me where I needed to be as far as THAT effort goes.
If you're just trying to hook up your phone to your PC, and expecting to be able to access it like a removable drive, I'm pretty sure you'll be unable to do that until you go through the rooting/sideload enabling process. I never had any luck with it UNTIL I rooted my phone, and I'm pretty sure that's by AT&T's design.

Corporate Dog
You need to modify the .inf file for the driver to include your device/vendor code manually or just do what I did which is easier and install HTC sync won't hurt anything you don't have to use it. It will modify the file for you. Or you could have someone upload there modified file. At any rate the problem is the USB plug and play system that does not recognize your device. It only recognizes a handful of devices and the ARIA is not one of them. Good Luck.
Hello all I'ave been trying to root my epic 4g for the last couple of days now without any success. I narrowed the problem down to not getting the USB drivers install. I am running windows7 32bit and have downloaded the same drivers from links on this site and also from samsung's site directly. The file that I downloaded comes as a "windows installer package type" after its unzipped so it installs automatically upon opening.
After the attempt install I get the following message:
Device driver software was not successfully installed
Coprocessor X No driver found
Base System Device X No driver found
Base System Device X No driver found
Can someone please help on this issue. I have searched the forums without any success and I refuse to believe that I'm the only one with this problem..
reinstall the .exe file, but right click and run as administrator. when you plug your phone in, uninstall the drivers through the device manager to make it "search" for updated drivers. worse comes to worse, instead of "automatically search for drivers" in the device manager, manually choose where the drivers are and navigate to the program (usually samsung something or another) and tell it to search.
make sure you have any other samsung driver or program uninstalled. some people have been having trouble with this.
This is the problem because this file is a windows installer package type after unzipping if I right click on the program my only option is to install, repair or uninstall. I'm not getting an option to run as administrator or am I even getting to see any files much less an EXE file.
Is there any way I can change the file type from the Windows Installer Package (.msi)?? And what should I change it to so it would act a little more friendly.
I would install pda net which is bundled with the app, plus you get a decent tethering app.

That did it.
Thanks alot. Now I can get some sleep.
You guys are great...
Goodnight.
I personally would like to know of any foolproof way of installing drivers on windows 7... I scripted an all in one root and recovery program, and by far the biggest issue is failed drivers in windows 7... I've been avoiding installing window 7 on my bootcamp partition, but I may have to just so I can experience the same hell as everyone else.
Even if Odin3 is Windows only, at least drivers aren't an issue on my Mac.

You can install regular drivers by holding F8 at windows boot and disabling "driver signature" and then installing the drivers.
You can also permenantly dissable "driver signature" just google it,i forgot how to do it,its in gpedit.msc somewhere,i think.

Thanks for the response, I'll look into it...
Does that mean to install 32 bit drivers even on 64 bit windows?
Just trying to clarify...
Once I find a solution that works reliably, I want to put it in my original posts so that others can benefit from it.

not to beat a dead horse or anything....but .msi's shouldnt need to be unzipped, they should be executable that will bring up windows installer...maybe im missing something but glad you got it worked out!
For an extremely long amount of time I have tried figuring out why my wifi wasn't working in Windows 8. I finally narrowed it down to the fact that the Wireless card doesn't have the correct drivers. So I go to download the new drivers and when I try to install it won't let me. All it says is I have the wrong version. Even when trying to install in Windows 7 Compatibility mode.
So I simply came to ask, is there a way to force a driver to install?
Or has anyone figured out how to install these drivers?
I have an HP Folio 13 1020us with an Atheros and Broadcom Wifi Cards
Thank you for your time!

Extract the installer package, most manufacturer's driver packages have installers that are just wrappers around the real installer. Extract your driver package and run it's setup in compatibility mode. Worst comes to worse, update your driver manually by extracting and selecting the folder containing the inf files in device manager.

Okay, let me preface this with the following: Yes, I've searched through XDA, Rootz, and Google to try to solve this. I've unlocked plenty of devices before including both the LTE GNex and the GSM variant.
I cannot for the life of me get my Nexus 7 to be recognized as an ADB device. No drivers automatically install regardless of what mode the device is in when connected...which is fine, I'm used to manually installing drivers...assuming I can FIND the d*** things. I've uninstalled all Samsung drivers just in case and yes, all SDK tools and drivers are up to date.
I found this thread with the Universal Naked Driver v0.7 and tried manually pointing to it from Device Manager (on Windows obviously). It says Windows found the driver software but that "The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file." blah blah it won't install the drivers. I've tried redownloading to be sure the download wasn't corrupt and that didn't help.
I'm literally pulling my hair out and it's incredibly annoying that Asus doesn't make drivers available on their website. Does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks!
I had to uninstall the drivers for it in device manager then install the new ones. Until I did that it wouldn't work

Step by Step..
Use this Toolkit, follow it's instructions; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
Hope that helps,

Well guys I've been trying for hours now, whenever I try to install the USB drivers in order to unlock my bootloader, when I plug in my Nexus it installs the MTP drivers on it's own, if I try to install the google drivers downloaded from ADB all I get is a message saying the best drivers for my device are already installed and it doesn't let me overwrite them.
If I go with the use disk option it doesn't let me choose the usb_drivers folder because it just wants to use a .inf file, whener I follow the instructions the toolkit dictates I read the dead end with the "The best drivers for your device are already installed"
I'm so angry right now.... Please help me.
Are you on a Windows XP operating system by any chance? There are major issues with MTP mounting on WinXP regardless of the service pack you're on. Some people claim they've gotten things working by updating WMP, via a Naked Driver and even by installing the Android SDK. Let me know if you are indeed on WinXP & I'll get you some links
Did you try following Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit to install the drivers? That helped me. I cannot post a link so look around for it.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, thanks guys, I just gave up and did it in my sister's laptop, it worked on the first damn attempt, maybe the drivers of my N10 were screwing something up, that's my best guess.
Glad you got that sorted--just for future reference, a common recommendation for people having driver issues with their Nexus devices is to simply go into Win Device Manager, uninstall all your current Nexus & ADB drivers and restart. Then plug your phone in via USB and let the auto installation do its thing. Usually this fixes all issues w conflicting device drivers
