I shared a contact to Viber from contacts stock app and for mistake I pressed always and not only this time.
Now if I want share a contact from stock app it open directly Viber and I cannot chose other apps.
How can reset it to have the list with apps where to share?

Settings - Apps and notification - default apps. Change contact app from Viber to whatever you want
sorry for my bad english, but I wanted say an other thing.
Using contacts app and pressing "share" in top right (see attached file) it open directly Viber where to share selected contact.
Before my mistake, when I pressed share button, it open the list of app where I could share and the question "always" or "only this time".
I would like to go back to stock status but I cannot find how.
thanks
uninstalled viber and so it cancelled the dipendence, but no way to reset that option?

Open the App info, there would be an option named "Open by default", Tap that and there would be written at the bottom "Clear defaults", Tap that and it would stop being the default option for whatever you've set it.

Hi guys,
Just noticed how the Nexus, when i go to messaging and compose a new SMS i cannot view my contact list and select someone. Instead i need to type the first 2 letters of their name and they appear in a dropdown box. Is their no way to bring up the contact list and choose someone?
Thankyou
Download "Handcent SMS" from the market
sorry not what i asked. Just would like to know if it is possible or not as i cannot find any results via google.

Yeah, I don't understand the logic there either. Although you could just start in your contacts list and select the text message link from there. Still not as intuitive.
Find the person first, then type the message?

Thanks so i guess its not only me that finds this simply problem annoying. I hate it when i make a mistake accidentally hitting the wrong key and need to delete. Would be such a simple process just adding via contact list.

Well... yeah. Go to your contact list, find the person, and you have a centralized screen where you can choose, inter alia, to call, sms, or email them.
add contacts to sms
Assign your contacts a label i.e. home, mobile etc..
This will solve your problem.
You might have to do this individually for each contact.
Can someone please make a flashable zip to disable this feature in froyo ! I hate having my messages history in the call log feature ! Very annoying ! I don't know why on earth samsung thought this would be usefull!.. and they don't even give u a option to disable it and only have calls in and out show !! Smh

As you know, the app currently allows viewing by missed OR dialed OR received calls, but we can't view ONLY our incoming and outgoing calls without also seeing the logs of text messages (i.e. we can't view only our calls!).
Adding a "see all calls" option to the existing list would solve this issue by excluding the messages from the list. (Duh, Samsung!)
I'd prefer adapting the existing phone logging function to a new app because a) this would hopefully be an easier mod than creating a new app, and b) this would allow the user to continue to keep a log of messaging but not have to look at it if they don't want to.
And by the way, c) you Developers ROCK!
+1
This new functionality is very ANNOYING!!!!
In the meantime. See if this meets your needs. Although it's not exactly what we need and someone still needs to fix this.
Instead of going to "Logs", go to "Favorites"
(Optional) Menu > Frequent first
(Optional) Menu > Grid View
UNFORTUNATELY this is only based on out-going calls.

There's a free app in the market called Advanced Call Log by NickyCho which does what I'm looking for -- anyone know a way I can have the phone app open this program instead of the stock log (when I open phone, and press the Logs button at the top of the app)?

Awesome, thanks! This works (so far) for me - I'm on dk17 currently using viperROM 2.6.
I downloaded the .apk from the thread, and then used root explorer to rename the existing LogsProvider.apk (found in /system/app) to Logsprovider.apk.bak. Then I pasted Mammon88's into the /system/app directory and rebooted. Voila! Only calls now. Thanks Mammon88! And posters who found it and posted it here!
You know how if you have more than one app that performs a specific task, like lets say you have the basic messenger app that comes with the phone and then you get a second messenger app like Handcent, and then when you click on a contact and say send message you get the option of which messenger app to use.
and then you can say "use by default for this action."
If you check that box, then then next time you try to send a message you won't get the option of choosing any more, that's the only app you can use to perform that function like sending a message.
Well, if you did that by mistake, how can you get back to using either app?
If you understand my question.
thanks.
Go to settings, applications, manage applications, then scroll to find the app and select it. At the bottom you'll see "clear defaults".
You need to clear defaults for the app that you chose when prompted, not the app that prompted you. In your example, you'd "clear defaults" for Handcent if you wanted to use the stock SMS app.

Hi, I'm using Nova Launcher Prime and the stock Messages app.
About 50% of the time when I try to launch the Messages app I get one of those "select an app" pop-ups from the bottom that prompts me to select "Android System" for SMS2 (but it doesn't ask me for "Always" or "Just Once"; I can only select one icon called "Android System") and it's always followed by a second pop-up for "SMS" and the icon is "Messages".
It's like it keeps forgetting each time how to access the SMS messages or something. Anyone else running into this?
The same here.

It's the Nova. With Touchwiz there is no issue. Reboot does not solve it. I've reported it to Nova.
Edit: There was an old Messages shortcut recovered from Nova backup made in another phone. After deleting it and taking the new one from all apps the problem disappears. Credits to Nova support.

What he did was, he deleted the messages shortcut on his desktop that was created by restoring a backup for Nova. Recreated the shortcut by copying the new shortcut from All Apps again.
Hi,
Couldn't find an answer to this.
My text/SMS messages get deleted after a certain limit is reached when using Google Messages. I don't see an option to stop this from happening. Google Messages on my non-Samsung device (Nexus 5) doesn't delete anything.
Is there a setting somewhere I can change to prevent any texts from being deleted?
Thanks.

This doesn't exist in Android Messages (by Google) - at least not the version I have (2.4.035).
That option is there for the Samsung app but greyed out for me since I have the Google app set as default messaging app.
I've set the Samsung app as default, turned off the auto delete, then assigned Android Messages as default again. I'll see if that changes anything but I don't see why settings in a Samsung app should change my Google apps.
