[SOLVED] Hizpo Headunit issue - Android Head-Units

Hi all,
Long story short, I messed up my headunit by fiddling with some settings. I selected Spotify to be a navigation app accidentally and now the system changed the Spotify sound behaviour to work only on the navigation-volume channel. As this is inconvenient when using navigation software next to spotify, it also changes the system (overall) volume when spotify is not active. It's just messed up.
So, I truly hope that I someone can help me, or show me how to reset the spotify audio settings back to default. I already tried:
- Uninstalling Spotify and reinstalling.
- Going through all the settings everywhere, there is nothing I can change it with.
- Reset (apparently this only resets some CAR menu settings and app shortcuts on the homescreen but it doesn't really reset to factory default.
As an alternative, how can I reset to factory default? I tried to find it but I can't, looked everywhere even in the secret system menu.
Tried to reset it with the reset button on the front panel but this only seems to reboot the device.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Ben

I can't really speak to your problem but a word of caution, I just did the factory restore on my head unit and now the navigation that came with it is gone. Which is why I just registered to see if smarter folks than me can help me figure out how to get it back among some other issues.

Thanks for your note Hicksvilleshick, I send you a private message. I don't mind losing the 'default' navigation as I replace it with a different one. I hope someone can help me with this issue

Solution:
For those headunits without any apparent reset to factory default options in the menu here is the solution.
In my Hizpo Android 8.1 unit I could only reset settings in the 'Car info' menu, this resulted in resetting the car info menu and it's home screen items to default. It did not clear any other settings like wifi, bluetooth or other systeem deep settings. In my case it was not sufficient.
Also the reset button in the SD card slot did not seem to do anything initially when pressing this short or long or with other buttons combined.
Word of caution:
- Assume all data on the device gets wiped. Back-up important stuff.
- Remove de SD card for safety and otherwise the reset might hang on that.
- If it comes delivered with nav software, assume you will lose this install / application. There are other fine free alternatives (that are probably better too) like Navmii, Here (we go), both with offline map support (after downloading) or Waze, Google Maps with online map support.
- After the factory reset all settings, accounts and stuff have to be redownloaded, geconfigured and resetup.
And now the instructions:
- Remove SD card. (Otherwise the reset hangs on the card)
- Press RST button shortly with a paperclip for instance (Behind SD card slot cover in my case).
- Keep tapping the screen with 5 fingers. In the upperleft corner in small text you can see the status.
- It will eventually switch to a sort of round halo with the text; 'resetting'
- After a longer boot it will come back as a factory fresh device.
Hope that helps anyone.
Cheers!

Help S7Edge Nougat - Two finger scroll/tap (talkback off) won't go away

Hi together,
just was able to update to upgrade to Nougat. (O2 Germany)
I just have one big problem. I have to control the screen like Talkback is activated. But it isn't. (two finger scroll, tap and so on)
Does anybody have an idea how I get rid of that really annoying thing? If possible without factory reset. My Phone isnt rooted.
My Google and forum search hasn't helped me. The answers were always turn off Talkback, which it is already.

I had the same problem yesterday after the update, took some time to change back to normal behavior: restarted in safe mode, changed the resolution back to WQHD, changed some accessibility settings, like turning it on for Nova Launcher and turn off optical reader (I don't know why it was turned on...). After that I restarted to normal and seemed to work ok but then I turned on the accessibility feature optical reader again, too see what it does and the screen was only with 2 finger operable again, so I turned it off.
You can disable/remove Talkback in the application settings. Try in safe mode if it's not possible in normal mode. I tried to change the Talkback settings in the system settings (searched for Talkback) and it said in a pop-up that it isn't compatible with the system, so I removed it completely.
Thank you so much norti!!!!!!!!! Had the same issue with S7 (T-Mobile USA), and your advice helped!!! Actually, it was the only one I could find so far
Thank you Norti
Thank you so much. I had the same problem after performing the software update over night last night. I was so frustrated with it and the techs at the sprint store spent an hour with my phone and could not fix it. The techs recommended that I back up all my contacts and everything and then do a factory reset. I did not want to do a factory reset and searched the internet for a long time before coming across your post. I turned off optical reader and it fixed the two finger problem. Thank you so much for sharing this as I would have been lost without it.
Exactly the same happened with my S7 edge, almost drove me crazy before I figured out that it was Optical reader in accessibility that caused the problem.
That worked
Thank you for the correct fix post. Optical Reader off did it for me, too. Spent all morning wading through "Cool features of Nougat" and getting ready to break my S7 while calls were coming in...

I figured that it had to be the optical reader as that was one of the incompatible apps it reinstalled after the upgrade. Had to use two fingers to get through most menu-options, frustrating, to manage to disable it. Glad to see I wasn't the only ripping my Hair out experiencing this issue. Hope they fix it.
For future reference (in German):
This works:
Einstellungen > Eingabehilfe > "Text & Bildscanner": turn off ("Aus")

Remove Lock Screen from Android Head Unit

Hi,
Just got an Android Head unit. All was working well until I installed Bit Defender. I stupidly tried the anti theft function (Which sets a "one time" pin on the device).
Problem is I now need to enter a pin every time i start the car. Its some how turned on the android lock screen and I cant see how to remove it.
Any ideas? I >think< this is the standard android lock screen rather than something bit defender specific. Uninstalling Bit defender does not remove it.
Tried contacting the seller who advised not to perform a factory reset. Looking at other posts it seems others have performed factory resets... What (Apart from normal apps etc) will i have to set up again if i do so?
Thanks very very much for any advice. This is driving me crazy.
I also had the problem once and i had to do a factory reset. But if you use titanium backup it´s not so bad.
Screen lock Allwinner QUAD CORE T3
I did the same exact thing using Find My Device, thinking that the password is not changeable but removable so the only solution to get rid of the password each time the car starts is to hard reset it?
Hello, did you manage to solve the problem?
Hi again, I also set a password and I can’t disable it, this is bothering me a lot, did any of you guys find a solution? Thank you in advance for any and all help!

How to hard reset android head unit? can any one pls help on this.
Solution for this for me is Quickshortcutmaker. When you start the app, then search for the app that's called search suggestions. And open it.
Now you can search all possible settings in android, which often are hidden and not accessible. Try secure or something like that, to access the lock settings and there you can remove it.
Thank you, I will try this today and report back. Will it require root?
No root needed
Hey sorry to bother you again. I tried it, but the app just takes me back to PIN settings on Android settings which is grayed out and not clickable. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong? I’m a noob and not sure what the purpose of this app is to begin with. Here is a 40-second video I shot about what I did, below. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it a lot and don‘t take it for granted.

Strange, for me it is working. My PIN bar is active, when i click on it. It asks me for my PIN.
Can’t remove screen lock
Hi everyone,
I am having the same problem - I cannot remove the screen lock / pattern set up on my Android car head stereo device. I have tried all sorts - going into advanced settings and turning off the ‘screen lock service’, turning off ‘find my device’, removing my google account.
It is so frustrating having to type this in every time the car starts!
I am currently in the process of downloading QuickShortcutMaker. Will keep you updated...
I was in my car trying to solve the problem when you posted your message, and I think I solved it!!! I just cleared credentials and the PIN went away. Go here: Android settings / Security & Location / Advanced (Trust agents), I can’t see what’s next because once you remove the PIN it doesn’t show you the menu, it just says “To use, first set a screen lock”. But somewhere in there, there is “Clear credentials” which did the job! It didn’t affect anything else as best as I can tell, but it’s been only 2 minutes since I managed to do it.
Hi!
I’m currently on quickshortcutmaker and can’t find what you’ve found. Are you on this app?
Thank you so much for your help by the way! I feel like I’m close
There is “trusted credentials” on here tho
No, I didn’t use the quickshortcutmaker, I did it through the Android settings. Here’s a video of what I’ve done, your setup may differ but this is the general idea:

Maybe it's a ROM issue. I use Malaysk ROM.
Contrary to the topic starter, I found this thread because I wanted to have a lockscreen. I don't like the idea that when my headunit might get stolen the thief can view all kinds of personal information.
So I tried quickshortcutmaker and I could enable it. So far so good.
However, with the screen lock also automatically came a screen timeout which is set to about 10 seconds. So every 10 seconds the screen goes blank. This is of course totally unacceptable for a car head unit. The screen has to stay on until I turn it off.
Unfortunatly I haven't found a setting for the screen timeout. And about the screen lock: you can turn it on and choose different methods, but you can't turn it off. The option to turn it off exists, but it just doesn't work.
I had this problem yesterday and just figured out how to fix this. Deleting the Credentials and disabling through the regular settings menu does not work. Everything would just revert back, so I downloaded an app from the Play Store called Android Settings X. There you can reach the hidden settings. Choose "Choose screen lock (SetupChooseLockGeneric)" to remove the Screen Lock. If that option doesn't work there is another one, 2 options down, called "Settings (ScreenLockSuggestion)". Remove the Lock Screen here. Bam, fixed! This is the only way I know of that actually removes the Lock Screen and will not revert back.

You might try Android Settings X as mentioned in my reply to the thread. Even though you have the opposite issue, i.e. wanting the lock screen, I'm pretty sure I saw a screen timeout option in this app, and since normal methods did not work to remove but using this app did, you might try it out.

TS9 Android 10 head unit Issue - Doors shows open when its closed - Android 10 head unit

I’m new to this formus, and I’m not sure if I should post here or not, so sorry in advance.
I just purchased and installed my 10inch android 10 head unit (system version v11.1.1)
MCU: Ts9.4.3
I managed to install it on my Honda Civic 2018 and it works great. However I noticed one issue, when ever I turn on the light, or change the gears, it shows a notification that doors are open even though its closed.
I tried everything in the setting but I couldn’t find something that turns off this.
I was wondering if its possible to fix this issue or just turn it off the feature completely.
thanks in advance!
Not MTCD/E, requested mod moves to Android head units forum.
Try searching for your MCU version, or part of it to find appropriate threads, they may also hold your answer.
I managed to fix the issue after I played with the setting.
I believe this issue happened because when I installed the screen, the doors were open, and it stored this information.
To fix this issue for Android 10, Ts9. You have to delete the “stored info”.
This can be done by going to the setting> Car Setting>extra setting (passcode 123456) - this worked for my screen > app memery (click on system apps memery)
I changed more setting on that menu but I think this one that fixed it.
I turned the car off for about 3 hours then when I turned it on it was fixed.

I managed to fix the door option. however, for some reason I caused the bluetooth app to stop working, I can play music anymore on the headhunt through bluetooth. It seems like it deleted the information everything I close the app.
I tried resetting factory setting but it didn't fix it.
---Dont do the steps I did above. ---
Hello!
Same problem with the doors. Did you solve that?

YT9213A lost RDS after reset

I have a 9" YT9213A running YT9213A_00009_V001_20200810
It says it's Android 10 but it's obviously fake
It has the usual bug where balance and fader don't work (and I don't care).
RDS used to work perfectly out of the box.
Then, playing around in the factory settings, I changed the radio setting from "FM inside" to "auto match". I know, I know, that was stupid of me. I just wanted to see if I could just disable the radio somehow.
Anyway. I lost sound from the radio and from ALL apps. The radio was completely mute.
I tried to go back to "FM inside" and to the other option (NXP6851) but no change. Of course I rebooted after every change.
In all this, the RDS function continued to work perfectly with all radio settings - only the sound was missing.
Wanting to get back sound I went for a factory reset from the android settings. I didn't have a backup because I thought I didn't have anything worth backing up. After the backup, the radio seemed exactly like when it was new.
After the factory reset (and a key off / key on cycle) I finally had sound back, from all apps.
But now no RDS .
Oddly enough, changing the "radio setting" option seems to have no impact whatsoever on sound or on RDS function.
I'd like to get back the RDS working again. Any ideas?

Couple of strange problems with my Chinese headunit

Hi,
I have got a YT9216CJ head unit which, generally speaking, works quite okay, except for a couple of strange problems.
1. When I want to use Google Assistant, I am able to invoke it only by clicking the app icon. I am aware that they Hey Google feature doesn't work on most of the Chinese headunits. However, each time the car starts up and I load the assistant, it will go into the Settings screen and prompt to set Google as the default assist app. If I do that, it works perfectly fine until the next key off, after which the same thing repeats again.
2. CarWebGuru is unable to access any notifications - e.g. Google Maps, which is required to show turn by turn directions within CarWebGuru. It complains that I need to grant permissions to read notifications. No matter what I do, it doesn't work. However, this particular feature works magically if I go to CarSettings and change the bootup to be "reboot everytime". Then the notifications seem to work fine. However, each start of the car causes the headunit to take a minute or more to basically load up, which is a real inconvenience with my car usage pattern.
Any ideas of how to fix this or even if I can have any workarounds? Help is much appreciated as I have beaten my head for many, many hours trying to fix these things
have you solved the problem with google assistant ? i have the same problem.. please help me !!
