Has anyone felt that their S10+ is heating up every now and then. The heating can be sensed to the left hand side center of the device (near the processor). There is no particular pattern of app that seems to be causing this. The only thing that I have noticed is that by simply taking a couple of snaps with the camera, the heat starts picking up. I have the exynos variant and am running the latest firmware with march security patch.
Camera use for me is making phone hotter than usually and battery drain in very noticeable (few photos and few short videos) yesterday drained 20% in 15 minutes... Also exynos

LTE in general or VoLTE? Is this an issue or expected to happen? I dont remember any previous samsung device heating up this much. Kindly uncomfortable to hold once it starts heating up.

Mine doesn't heat up on data, which is normal. LTE didn't cause heat spikes on my N8 either. Edit: using U1 S10+.
Out of curiosity, are you using ceramic or regular glass S10 Plus?
Yeah mine gets warmer in comparison to my S9+ down the left but that's where the heat pipe is so I'm not concerned
I am using a glass S10+. Not the ceramic version. Plus I have noticed a reduction in the heating by turning off VoLTE, WiFi and Bluetooth location scannings. I am not sure which of these three did it tough.

VoLTE is forced on U1 when using T Mobile, but I've never seen HD calling spike temps. I'm using bluetooth atm with my Buds whilst listening to music. (App is in imm mode so there's no status bar). Wifi is the only one I don't use.

hi, i just ordered a note 4 and now considering order a case for it as well.
however, with my note 2, i noticed that some cases has caused my battery drained faster significantly. this might be caused by high temperature within the case ( i am not too sure anyway)
does anyone has similar experience? if yes, what case are u using for ur note 4?
thanks!
*sry for my terrible english
It does make a different but only when you will be using the phone for example as a navigation longer than like 5 hours but to the Note 4 it can managed it self even under big pressure for long time new snapdragon processor has some stages where it gets really hot it can cool down even when being used in extreme pressure.
---------- Post added at 04:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:08 AM ----------
ohh sorry i forgot to replay to your main question get the case you really like and don't worry about battery drain. Good luck
Some cases may affect battery life. Some cases with metal bezel inside may interfere with phone antenna and cause phone modem to work harder to keep connection.

I'm betting the Note 5 will run hot!
When the battery dies on my Note 4, I pull out a hot battery that has been discharging and replace it with a cool battery from my spare battery charger. The cool fresh battery cools down the whole phone.
You wont be able to do that with the Note 5. The Note 5 will produce heat while it is charging and discharging. You are going to have a hot brick it your pocket.
I believe the Note 5 will have a circuit that shuts down the FAST CHARGE CYCLE when the phone is "over heated". Then it will default to the normal charging cycle.
Also here's a FACT: Cool batteries charge much better than hot batteries.
Any Comments?
Hi actually my note 5 has a very high temperature just on the normal use...no games even not charging! !!any body have suggestions?

Negative. I'll be glad when all these bashing Note 5 threads get shut down. Half the people complaining don't even have the device.
...and yet ANOTHER worthless comment/opinion/bash from someone who doesn't even have the phone.
PS - I got mine last night and have been using it very heavily so far to today. You lost your bet. I'll PM you my Paypal so you can pay up.
Guys I'm from UAE and we are among the first countries got the phone even before 21 August. .why you think we complain for something we don't have in hand! !!!!

I have had my note 5 since monday, I have had no issues with overheating or even feeling more than warm to the touch. It never got to what I would consider "hot". Even during charging.
Yes it seems some application issue (hopefully )..I disabled the Facebook and now temperature much less. .will see

Mine does get relatively warm evenbunder normal/light load. CPU Z shows 40-50° under light load. Is this normal?

My N5 does not feel hot, at all. Even during heavy gaming IE: Need for speed. OP apparently doesn't even own a n5. Buy the phone or don't, don't mislead everyone else based on an assumption.
Had mine for a week now. Never gets hot with all my 121 apps installed, even during gaming. I can't say the same about the galaxy s6 whcxuh used to get extremely hot for no reason.
Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
OP you don't even have the device so stop bashing the Note 5. Thread closed.
I came across this bug earlier today and just tested it out for the past hour or so. When the phone is on WiFi it heats up twice as fast and gets hotter than it would have just on mobile data. Depending on how many bytes your phone is transferring will depend on how hot it gets which is why some of you are experiencing freezes/reboots when updating multiple apps at the same time through the play store.

Jeepers, what the heck is up with Qualcomm? The 810 was a disaster, and now you guys with the 820 have been posting all kinds of issues, I really feel for you guys.
Are you on 2.4ghz or 5? I noticed on 5ghz the battery drains very quickly, the speeds and wall penetration is nice though.

I guess. I'm just lucky or not as picky. Zero lag. Battery gets me 6 to 8 hours sot a day over 18 to 24 hours. No heat issues.
I've had the g2, g3, nexus 6, Droid turbo, galaxy s6 and this. Best phone I've ever used. With out question.
My only complaint so far is slow motion on the camera can be choppy and skip frames.
Million sold bound to be some Duds, I'm just glad mine wasn't one of them. Or I was and I'm too naive to see it. In which case I would say ignorance is bliss LOL
5ghz probably draws a little more power but shouldnt be enouhh to make the phone heat up

Normal heating
I did hands on this but did not find excessive heating issue during the wifi use , Will not say their is no heating . Same issue raises during the use of heavy app . But I would again say its normal heating .
Would like to know if everyone's experiencing better or worse battery life on mm vs nougat official release
I was only on mm for a few days but I'd say better...

This is my battery usage from two different instances, battery life has been very good to me on Nougat, however a week ago or so I had to factory reset my phone because "media server" drained my battery very quickly. These screenshots are made after that factory reset.

No unfortunately not. But after a factory reset it never came back in such a huge way, before the factory reset it suddenly appeared on top in the usage list with 45% usage, dropping my phone's battery from 90% to 40% in less than 1 hour.
My settings aren't really special, I only use sync when my phone is charging (regular charging, I don't ever use fast charging), I don't use AOD, Location or NFC, and I have disabled pretty much everything that can be disabled through the phone itself, without using a package disabler. Also, my screen resolution is on 720P.
I love the batterylife on my s7 edge with 7.0 btu. It's way better then mm
