Very nice.
Any chance of adding flashlight to the AI button functionality?
This is clicking once?
Sow the double click remains from normal settings?

I will try to find a way to toggle specific apps while remapping the button.
I think that priority is to add the double tap remapping and then I will try flashlight and google camera

The problem is that remapping the single tap functionality results in miui not recognizing the button as "AI" button so it cannot perform the double and long press functions! This means that you have to use some 3rd party app to assign these functionalities
Very nice! Any way to toggle between silent/dnd modes?
nice work
thanks man.
Nice. Also works on my Mi MIX 3. One thing. Im running Pixel Experience GSI, and single tap works, double not (Yes i know its in beta). Also, the the fingerprint scanner thinks its a mouse pad or something. Cus if i tap the scanner it click things on screen.

+1 for Google Camera
Better to assign it for double tap. So we can set main camera on double tap power button and google camera on double tap AI button.
If you use tasker you can assign double tap, trible tap and even more. I wrote down some actions I programmed for my AI button https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78523778&postcount=38
I can share my tasker events if anyone is interested.

Thanks for your input. I mainly edit the /sdcard/Downloads/gpio-keys.kl as you describe in your post so I think that the combination of this mod and tasker is the best bet here! I have also posted in the Mi Mix 3 forum but you can include me in your post if you want and you find the mod handy, cause you do not mess up with files and editing (for new users).
For your other question Yes the button works when screen is off. For example, when I set the "Next Media" function, the song changes when I press the button even if the screen is off
Easy solution: Xposed Edge, the must have tool.. Register this hardware key in "Keys" section and easily configure tap, double tap, and long tap.. Nothing special required for this phone (Samsungs often need enablers first, then again you remap it with Edge). Even can mix with XIAOMI settings if you want. And can remap much more (volume keys, headphone insertion event and tons more). No brainer.
I'd wish Xiaomi would give us the option to just completely turn off the button :crying:

yep, search the forum for hbutton should be version 2.2 i think, allows you to assign up to 5 functions per button, the nice thing is that if you just want 1 button reassigned it won't screw with your other butons. when you install it i adds the ability to minimize or quit. so it will do exactly what you want. also can be set to vibrate or beep when the button is held down to signify that the second function is being run.
Just for knowledge quick menu 2.7 also allows telling the ok button to close apps.

for me Hbutton is working, just assign "OK/Close" to the OK button, that's it... (it's my 2nd Hbutton recommendation within 2 minutes today )
When you're using HTC Taskmanager with "End programs by tapping X" it's working great with Hbutton. Never tried without HTC's TaskManager

Thanks for the advice! However, will it allow me to tap OK button to minimize then tap and hold to CLOSE? I played with it before but it seemed like when I assigned "OK/Close" to the Ok button, a single tap CLOSED the application. Basically I want the two opptions on one button, and to never have to touch the X button ever again.

You have probably seen a lot of suggestions thus far but this is probably the easiest. HTCTaskManager does exactly what your looking for by default. A press minimizes and a press/hold closes.
Small foot print. Easy to use.

If I accidentally long press my home button it opens the Google App. Is there anyway to disable this? I can't find it.
I think if you go into Applications and clear the defaults for the Google App it will stop that. The next time you long press it will ask you what you want it to do as the default. I don't recall what the options are after that.
Thx it was in applications but, the tab default applications. Than "app device support" than you can choose for Google App, svoice, grenify or none. Thx for guiding me to the right direction.

Ok I've done that, however now when I press and hold the home button nothing happens....I've also reset the Svoice defaults ?
The strange thing is whilst I'm connected to my Bluetooth car kit if I hold down the talk button it asks what to set as default, once S Voice is set I then try the home button but still nothing ?

I've managed to get S-Voice back, in case anyone else has the same issue this is what you do....

There's an app called HomeBot that will let you customize what a long press home button does, including showing Recents.

My Thoughts EXACTLY Juanito157! I just don't understand why the Hell these companies feel the need to "VIGOROUSLY FIX" SH!TE THAT ISN'T BROKEN!! And 9 times out of 10, they Remove or "Hide" options and widgets that were Just Perfectly Fine where they Freakin were to begin with. I Swear between my PC's, Android Devices, Gaming Systems and others like FireTV Box etc... I Must waste on average, at LEAST a Hour, Almost Every Damn Day, Just WATCHING & WAITING for UPDATES! It's getting really Outa Hand & Insane Lol.... Anyway's, So Sorry for the Rant, a little off topic... BUT YES, PLEASE Let us know if anyone has found a way to Revert or Change back to the way Google was before they HAD TO "FIX" IT ; ¤ }
I loved it because I could long press Home & "Force" Copy /Paste Info from almost anywhere, Even Screen Shot Pics. Now, If this feature is still available and I'm just being a Moron, Which is very possible, can someone Chime in and Help a guy out Please!
*** And I know that there are 3rd Party Apps that will do the "Copy Anywhere" thang... It was just NICE & CONVENIENT having the option built right into Google..
THX & AS ALWAYS, XDA IS THE SH!TE!!
Title says it all.

Is any app you could use to prevent from screen to shutting down? I mean, I used to use "always on" app but with 7.0 is not working correctly.

On my G3 there was an option called "Smart Screen" that kept the screen on while you were looking at it. I loved that option. I don't know why LG got rid of it. It was a separate app. I wonder if it would still work on V20

True. I don't use any lockscreen - so I always forget about that. If requiring you to not do anything to turn your screen on is important to you - then why would you even have a lockscreen setup?
With bxActions you can remap the Bixby button on Note9 to any action or app you like!
Use the Bixby button to mute your phone, take a screenshot, turn on flashlight or launch any app you like!
Also works on lockscreen or when the screen is completely off!
You can also disable the Bixby button if you like.
Optionally you can remap the volume buttons and Skip tracks with the volume buttons even when the screen is off!
Remap as you like!
FEATURES:
No root needed!
Zero battery consumption!
Double and Long press support!
Remap the Bixby button on Note9 to any action!
Remap the Volume buttons to any action!

As the Bixby button cant be disabled anymore on Bixby 2.0, double tap and long press features are not available currently
Just pushed a new update which should be partially compatible with Note 9
Should be online soon.
Thanks for this.
As I haven't got the note 9 yet, can you or someone explain what we can and can't do?
Can we only remap to basic functions like camera and google assistant etc? Only single push remaps?

@Jawomo
Alright so I have the Note9 and I tested the latest version.
Jump to last app is broken.. it just does the endless looping between the last app and Bixby.
Also, every time you press the button for any action Bixby shows up for a split second and then the action is performed. I'm guessing this can't be changed..
That said, all other actions work fine. I haven't tested pro features as I haven't purchased the app and also the auto rotation since I'm not near a laptop right now with ADB.
Please, please, please I hope you get this working properly on the note 9! Would monetary donations make things any easier? I can't give up this app from my note8.

All we can do is send Samsung a complaint, that its not possible anymore to disable launching Bixby home with the Bixby button in Bixby settings.
Using Bixby voice on long press is ok, but its should still be possible to disable launching Bixby home on single pressing the button.
Theres always a way
Thank you very much for your great work.
BxActions is already updated. I can confirm that disabling the button work with using the app, although, you see the bixby home for less than a second. then it will take you out of it. I hope that you will be able to totally hide bixby home, I don't want to see it at all.
Also, the app is not yet fully functional. I hope it will get better.

If you disable it you will kill the button completely.

Hi everyone! With Android 9.0 and latest Bixby button, now you can natively remap Bixby button to do many things, BixBye adds a bit more to these 'many things':
* Launch Google Assistant
* Launch an App
* Power Dialog
* Recents
* Home
* Toggle Flashlight
* Back
* Lock Screen
* Open Notification
* Quick Settings
* Take Screenshot
* Toggle Split Screen
More:
* Nothing - to prevent accidental Key Press.
* Powerful Tasker Plugin - lets you perform any type of complex task using Tasker.
Download from Google Play Store. (Please don't forget to leave a review at Google Play Store!)
As it goes without saying, the App is experimental and is in Beta Stage, things may not work as you expect to. However, your feedback will definitely help me improve the App. I don't own a Galaxy Device, any screenshot/video will be much appreciated.
NOTE 1: You must open and configure/setup Bixby to launch 'BixBye Actions' App upon Bixby key press.
NOTE 2:If you face any issues/warnings with Secure Startup when you enable BixBye's Accessibility Service, please note that it's an Android bug. Just disable Secure Startup temporarily, enable BixBye's Accessibility Service and then finally re-enable Secure Startup for everything to work in harmony.

BxActions overwrites the Bixby button completely. Once enabled, it allows you to remap the single press to Google Voice Assistant or any other app. To use the long press button you then need to buy the Pro version. You will also loose the double press functionality when using BxActions.
This, on the other hand, integrates with the stock functionality. You set the single or double press to BixBye Action, and in BixBye settings you set the desired action, I have it set to open Google Voice Assistant.
Now in Samsung settings I have, single press opens Google Voice Assistant (via BixBye Action), double press opens Bixby Home and long press opens Bixby voice Assistant [emoji846]

Well, I don't want to use bixby at all - I use single press for Google Voice Assistant, long press for auto rotation and double press for torch. What do you mean, "you lose double press functionality"? It works great for me on BxActions.
