I have several drive mappings to my PC on my 2017 Shield that I would like to edit or remove. I established them during my learning curve, so several are redundant or unneeded. When viewing them in ES File Explorer or File Manager HD, they are all named, "SD Card". I can find no way to rename them, edit their targets, or remove them. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling ES File Explorer, but the mappings persist, indicating that the settings are retained within Android rather than the application. Is there any way to manage these mappings other than doing a total factory reset?

I guess you can manage them in the PC. The logic (to my limited knowledge) seems to be you mount network shared folders in the Shield's settings. That's why when the network drives don't mount in the Shield's system, they won't show up in any other app.

Accessing the Shield from a PC allows fiddling with its internal storage, but there is no visibility into the mapped shares nor into the mounted network shares. I need to manage (rename, delete, edit the path, etc.) of those mapped shares.

So I want to clear my stored entrys. I go to the options and hit the clear button but it doesn't work. were is the file so I can edit it or delet it?
There are two files in the Windows directory:
1. eT9Cdb
2. eT9Rudb
Delete both of those files and your "stored entries" are now gone. By doing this you're reverting back to the ROM's stored words.
It is absurd that we have to do this method just to clear our stored entries rather than tapping on the "cleared stored entries" box in the input option. But nonetheless, HTC make great phones. *sigh*
Enough of my personal vendetta. This work for me (HTC Cruise) so it should work for you.
i tried deleting these but i cant! this is so annoying!
if you're using the file explorer it will not work. windows will detect it as a root file and will deny the deletion. you'll have to use resco explorer.
Hi! all. recently i have this problem copying large video files from windows explorer to the iconia. everytime i copy & paste a large file such as 1 or 2gb, windows explorer will stop functioning & restart. i notice that small files such as pix & mp3 do not have this issue. but if a folder that is 1gb in size with lotsa pix or music in it is transfered, the same thing will occur. i tried wifi file transfer but it keeps getting disconnected halfway & i have to redo the whole process again. anyone can help?
What I recommend is getting ES File Explorer from, the market, its free. Then share, say your home folder over the network in windows, as ES can access Samba file share. Then copy and paste within ES instead of your computer not only does it work wonderfully, but you aren't tethered to your home computer and you don't have to use Acers terrible driver Lemme know if it works.
Even easier, withthe File Expert (free), yuu don't have to have a permanent network share, it has a web interface for transfering to and from the tablet. It also has root access, so no need for a separate root explorer.
same with es on root access. I find sharing a folder easier for me, but thats just me.
Hi,
I have swapped some bits of my PC - including HDD.
Before change I had drive C (SSD) and all my files on separate drive.
I have added new HDD to my system, and changed location of My Documents via Folder Properties settings - all worked perfectly.
After that I have swapped CPU, motherboard, RAM and have "thrown away" my old drives.
I have turd on PC and all went well until it run into problem and done system restore... unfortunately System Restore point was made when old HD drives were active.
So, now I got all my "My Document" files on new drive but I am missing My Documents shortcut in User Files - where you got My Music, My Videos, etc...
How do I get it back in proper way - I don't want to just create simple shortcut- and connect it with new locations of my files?
Any ideas???
Guys, I really need to sort this out, please!
The easiest thing is to copy your files to c:\temp or onto a DVD, log in as another administrator, delete your original profile, then log back in as you. That will recreate your profile and file structure. You can then move the documents and pictures back to the correct new folders. The easiest way to delete your profile is in Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced Tab > User Profiles > Settings. If the delete button is grayed out when you click your account, just reboot, log in again as the administrator and it should be able to be deleted. BE SURE to copy any files/data you want to keep!
Thanks, all is sorted now. All it need was editing of registry and changing paths in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
This isn't necessarily a nexus question, but I thought you guys would probably know anyway.
If I look at the file structure over a USB cable from my PC, I see what I think is on the "SD card". I have a list of directories and I can see the files.
However, if I use ES File manager, I can go to /SDCARD0 and I see the same file list but an additional directory called "maps" (created by my mind map application).
if I use ES File manager and just look at where it starts off (the Home directory), I don't see that "maps" directory.
So, how can I get my PC to see that extra directory? Is it some sort of permissions or is it more complex than that?
regards
Alan
Hello!
More portable USB drive and pendrive "not removable" type, always created $Recycle.bin folder.
How to fully disable $Recycle.bin folder create?
Need: plugged drive do not modify filesystem with $Recycle.bin or System Volume Information
Not need any reply this text: "hide hidden folders". Need real solution.
I have old patch to "Open file" window size set to any size, and patched explorer.exe (not registry mod, real file patch). Need real patch to disable folder creating.
Recycling disabled: all drive zero bytes and disabled.
All registry tips not working:
HKCU/Soft/MS/Win/Curr/Explorer/BitBucket/NukeOnDelete=1
Gpedit only disable "move to recycle bin", not disable folder creating. Not working.
Now created in all drive $Recycle.bin FILE with zero byte, now folder not created... all Windows starting (or delete files) say: Corrupted Recycle bin, recreate? ...popup message for all drive (with this fake file).
SysVolInfo:
Disabled search, disabled thumbnails create.
Available any solution, patch, customizes, manager, etc. for this problem?
Thanks!

Enable Recycle Bin for Removable Drives in Windows 11 Tutorial
The Recycle Bin provides a safety net when deleting files or folders. When you delete any of these items from a hard disk, Windows places it in the Recycle Bin and the Recycle Bin icon changes from empty to full. If you have multiple hard drives, partitions, or an external hard drive connected...

Not ok. I have... many USB pendrive builded HDD type, not "removable" type. And all removable external HDD recreated this folders.
Hi, I also tried all those registry mods and policies but nothing works on my Win7-x64. I found that $Recycle.bin folders on all volumes are created everytime explorer.exe process is started. But a quick look doesn't show that explorer.exe would contains $Recycle.bin string, so maybe it's obfuscated some way or it's in some DLL that explorer.exe calls. I wonder nobody cracked this crap yet...
