I know with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, you have a regional carrier menu which can be accessed using a key sequence on the dial pad. When accessed, a list will be displayed showing all the carriers which the phone supports using their 3 digit abbreviation. When you select a specific carrier and click reboot, the device will do a factory reset using the specific carrier settings you selected. I know the S4 will have the same regional menu but I'm curious as to whether or not I can access this through a dial pad sequence and if so, what the sequence would be.
Thanks in advance for any help which could be provided!
RESOLVED
Unlike the Note 3, the CSC (Consumer Software Customization) otherwise known as the Regional Carrier menu is a hidden menu within the Samsung Device model lineup. This menu will show a listing of scripts in the phone, depicted by a 3 letter code and specific to the carriers which can be preloaded on your device. If your device is unlocked and you wish to use it with one of the specified carriers, you can insert your carrier specific SIM, access this menu and "INSTALL" the specific configured script for that carrier. The question is always asked... "What is the benefit?".
Answer: With smartphones, they are mini computers and not just your typical "telephone". As such, you have multiple settings which vary among carriers. As such, by configuring your device to be carrier specific, it will modify specific settings which are proprietary to that specific carrier. As an example, it will modify the APN details, update your network settings to reflect access to specific modems such as 3G, 4G, HSPA+ and LTE and will also brand the device with specific apps which have been preloaded and configured for that specific carrier such as a "My Account" app. These are just some of the things to name a few which implementation of the proper CSC settings will provide.
Samsung realized that tech savvy people have figured out how to access these menus and this has resulted in fixes implemented in OTA updates to hinder people from being able to do this. As such, you cannot use the typical dialpad entry to gain access to the menu but do have the ability through ROOTING your device. Unfortunately, a ROOT will most likely "void" your warranty so it's at the discretion of the "end user" whether or not the warranty is important.
Thank you to all who assisted and happy trails!

LOL... Well there is an option to Edit/Delete and since I can not "delete" my post, I mine as well indicate it has been resolved and provide the underlying solution.

What has been resolved?.I understand what you were after as in your 1st post; but your 2nd post indicates you can get the dialler menu if you are rooted.
Since I am rooted......care to tell me the code for me to test then?.
It doesnt matter if you cant, as when I insert a sim, a box normally opens up for me to select which network I want, which then triggers inbuilt settings (apn etc)......and the phone works.
Many people do not wish to "root" their device thus "voiding" the warranty. As an alternative, they can unlock their device and dependent on their OS, they can access the "CSC Menu" through *#272*[IMEI]# Should their "new" carrier be in the default list of supporting scripts installed on the phone by the manufacturer, they can install the script which will "brand" the phone to the new carrier/SIM complete with all the required settings for that carrier. Doing this will BRAND their phone to the new carrier settings without having to root and install a carrier specific ROM etc...
Is this beneficial for you specifically? Absolutely not as you have rooted your device but many on here looking for information find threads which talk partially about something and then you see a posts claiming it's been resolved with no further detail. If I solve something on my own and feel it would benefit some, not all, I may as well post my findings so if someone encounters the same problem, they can access a thread which provides a solution instead of simply saying "FIXED".
You said it best by "It doesnt matter if you cant, as when I insert a sim"... Yes, when you insert a SIM on your rooted device you have access to everything you need. That does not help someone whom does not wish to "root" their device. Maybe I'm reading into matters too much but you seem upset about my posts That being said, ignore them. I'm not bolstering my post count but if I resolve something, I may as well post it since I cannot officially delete my thread but only "edit" it. By posting it's resolved and providing details as to how, this will alleviate someone wasting their time by providing an answer while helping those who may possibly encounter the same situation.
Cheers!

No.You state in post 2 that you can acess the menu if I am rooted.....so explain how its done since I am rooted.
Also the box that opens up happens when a sim is inserted on all the unrooted samsung phones Ive had, which then triggers carrier settings etc.
So to recap, you did not answer how to get into that menu, and I cant even see how anyone would need to anyhow.
That is all
You are reading way too much into the post and it's asinine. I asked a question, received some feedback via PM and resolved my issue. As quoted from my "Post #2": "As such, you cannot use the typical dialpad entry to gain access to the menu but do have the ability through ROOTING your device." -- I am simply indicating the dial pad entry cannot be used unless you have original firmware which has not been updated. If updated, you can ROOT which allows you to brand your device using alternative methods. Reading way too much into everything...
ROOTING = You can customize your device using many methods and as per your post: "I cant even see how anyone would need to anyhow" is correct for those who are rooting.
*#272*[IMEI]# = You can customize your device to a specific carrier should that carrier be listed in the pre-installed scripts. Your device must be unlocked but this method will not void your warranty by installing a carrier ROM already pre-configured on the device.
I may also add that you're correct! If unlocking a device and not rooting, once you input a non-carrier SIM, you will be prompted for a code but the settings do not always change. Sometimes APN settings are incorrect and there is manual editing required. The suggestion I made regarding the CSC menu will allow you to configure the device to the new carrier ROM without rooting. This will also "customize" the device to that specific carrier so unlike simply features such as APN etc... being changed, you will also have pre-defined apps installed specific to that carrier such as "My Account" and other specific apps you would not obtain by simply unlocking.
I'll make it clear that you ARE RIGHT! Let's leave it at that but for those who do not read so deep into my posts, I find many of them have been helpful as have yours otherwise we would not have received the thanks we have.
Have a great one!

Hello today i come to you with a small problem in the S6 EDGE Sprint variant Model SM-G925P. As seen with the picture below the APN settings are unable to modified via the main system settings, now i didnt let this stop me i took the liberty on researching how to edit/create APNs via Buildprop Editor but no dice there as well seems as Sprint may have taken the extra step to prevent these changes from happening.
With this SS you can see that ADD is Grey'd out along with all the APNs Tht Came Stock on my Phone.

Hi, basically the problem is when I go to settings there is no option called "users". when I swipe down there is no user avatar. by the way android lollipop is the software version. I was watching a review on YouTube, there they had the option. but I don't. anyone knows why?
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201506/20150620020245043/GEN_SM-T550_Galaxy-TAB_A_ENG_UM_LL_OC5_R2_AC.pdf - Page 66 describes how to set up another User account. Maybe after that it will give you options in the Settings? Not sure, don't have access to one of these tabs to play with.
I checked it out. It says go to settings > users.
my problem is that option does not exist. but thanks anyway
Might be something the carrier or region where you got the tablet doesn't support. No idea why, but there are carriers here that asks the manufacturers to not enable some options, such as the Download Booster on Galaxy phones. Either that, or maybe another updated version of the software enables it. You might look into custom roms based off of less restricted software.
I purchased an unlocked version. No carriers
The other way to do it is from the quick settings pull down, touch the profile pic (might be the standard person-head icon)
when I pull it down there is no user avatar (profile pic) nothing at all
What's the Build Number of the software?
Lollipop 5.0.2. The manual says the option of USERS in under the device tab in settings. but I don't have it.
Here is a screenshot:
http://i57.tinypic.com/9pur5w.png
5.0.2 is the android version, not the Build Number of the software.
oh sorry. The Build Number is: LRX22G.P555XXU1AOD9
I'd try to update to the newest version available, just posted at the beginning of the month:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-P555/
One of the ones that ends in OH2 that corresponds to the region you are in.
Thank you. I will try that and let you know what happens.
anyone found way to bring back multiuser option ? (im on H2)
This guide was written as a primer to attaching RCS/IMS services to carrier networks that normally do not carry this type of traffic. Additionally, this guide will help you maximize your phone's capabilities by allowing you internet access while on a call simultaneously on networks other than LTE/WiFi. I expect in smaller towns where LTE coverage isn't as great this will help give you back that functionality. I will only be providing instructions for HSPA/HSPA+ (aka HSPA-DC or Dual Channel) as it's the only one I've tested, but since you'll have access to everything, you can experiment a little.
Prerequisites:
Rooted Samsung S7 (I used SM-G930F, may work with S6/S8, haven't tested), w/XAA CSC (TMB CSC may work as well, haven't tested)
Phone INFO
A little bit of balls, and willingness to deal with possible blowback by T-Mobile (they haven't said anything to me, yet, but this is breaking the standards!)
Steps:
Launch Phone INFO, open the main menu on the top left (3-bars), select "Secret Codes". (If you get any errors, hit YES to continue anyways, let it sit for a minute and if it doesn't stop searching, just tap to stop the searching early.)
Scroll through the secret codes, look for the app "Settings" with applet code "com.samsung.avdp.imssettings.SecretCodeReceiver" (On my SuperStock 2.8 S7 it's code number 467), select it and finally select Launch 0.
In the IMS SETTINGS display you now have click on IMS Profile.
Select TMobile LTE/WiFi
Select Network Enabled (>)
Here you can select which network types you want to enable IMS service on, the options "lte" and "wifi" should already be checked. You can now check "hspa" here as well for this guide.
NOTE:
If "lte" is true 4G LTE (All carriers);
"hspa" is T-Mobile's original "4G" (high speeds >10mbps, slightly higher latency, rolled out to compete with Verizon's speeds prior to LTE)
"umts" is "3G"
"gsm" is "2G"
"ehrpd" is Sprint/Verizon's "EVDO" (for Sprint/Verizon users this may be an option instead of hspa?)
"tdscdma" is Sprint/Verizon's "3G".
Press back on the phone, next click on Service (>)
Scroll down to the "HSPA" section, you'll see all the services are blank, we need to enable which services to use on this type of network;
mmtel
smsip
slm
im
ft
presence
euc
Press back on the phone, and finally hit the Save (disk icon) button at the top, and back out completely.
Now when you're on HSPA/HSPA+ on T-Mobile's networks, you'll have the VoLTE icon and calls will be handled over data versus tying up the entire radio. (Check out my screenshot!) You can be bold enough to enable additional networks, though I caution that none of the other T-Mobile valid options umts/gsm will likely have enough throughput or low enough latency to be effective at all. Additionally, I noted when a call started, the phone took a little bit to adjust the jitter buffer to play the call smoothly, resulting in my voice coming through the other person's end garbled and jittery for the first few seconds (they came through fine to me). Once the call is up for 5+ seconds it's likely fully adjusted and you should have no problems afterwards. Do remember that because of the additional latency on the lower networks, you are going to have more delay in your conversation, though on my test call in the middle of the California desert along the I-5 between SF and LA, it wasn't noticeable on either side of the call. During that test call, I kept my Google Maps updated with the latest traffic conditions on my car's tablet via hotspot, so mission accomplished (for me at least).
Let me know in the replies if you attempted this tweak, where you tested, and if it worked for you!
An interesting idea... I'm gonna try this soon on my G930F.
It's rather clever that you flashed the CSC from XAA or another US carrier on top of the international firmware, to enable carrier specific features.
Been struggling with this for while, going about the wrong way by loading /patching certain modules/app to accomplish this. Why didn't I think of this?? he-he
Which initial CSC firmware did you use on your G90F, OXA/UUB/XEF/XEU?
In addition to selecting WiFi, LTE, HSPA etc, which one of these did you select for Tmo?
mmtel, smsip, slm, im, ft, presence, euc
I have AT&T as my carrier.
Thanks!

Firmware is XXU (SuperStock v2.8), for you add the XAA CSC (it has all the US carriers blended into it), and when you go in to tweak these settings, you should see just LTE enabled for you (since AT&T does not support wifi calling at this time as far as I know), just copy all the options selected there, EXCEPT video, video is far too heavy to be put on any other network than WiFi or LTE.

Great, I also have a Qualcom S7 (G930A) with original AT&T firmware, which has VoLTE (Voice over LTE/IP).
That's the primary reason I'd like to try your mod to get VoLTE working on the Exynos S7 (G930F).
I understand I have to select WiFi and LTE, but I'm a bit confused when you said "just copy the selections",
which particular items should I select/enable from this list?: mmtel, smsip, slm, im, ft, presence, euc
Would you happen to know the meaning of those acronyms?
I understand that I just flash the CSC file only from the XAA package, but what's the REGION code of your main XXU firmware?
XXU has to be a sub-set of one of the ones below, but not sure which one.
If you look at the last few lines in your CSC file with a hex viewer, you should be able to see it.
As you can see in this list, after the "/" would be your sub-code XXU, but I need the main region code in order the obtain the same main firmware as you have. Though not absolutely necessary, I'm just curious about the XXU version.

That is the list you need to select and on WiFi and LTE, settings should already be there if you flashed the XAA CSC correctly.

Thanks for all the info.
By the way, the CSC code ZTO stands for Brazil, and secret code 467 stands for I.M.S.
In case anyone is interested, I have found a shortcut to the CSC changer activity as follows:
Root the phone.
Install the "Shortcut Master" app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
Search for "Preconfig"
Run com.sec.android.Preconfig.Preconfig
Select the carrier CSC, and press Install.
Reboot the phone.
Hi
I tried searching on xda if there is existing query like this but there wasn't that is why i created a new thread.
I have bought an LG v20 H910 unlocked in Pakistan with internal 64gb memory and on android 7.0 (not sure if rooted because i am not tech savvy, i just use stock rom). The device is unlocked and works with the sim that i put in but there is a branding "Pakistan telecommunication network" in the lock screen as well as on home screen taskbar when the sim is inserted. I tried changing the sim (on a different network) but it didn't resolve. I also tried finding the option in settings menu to hide operator name in the taskbar but there is no such option.
The point is, it is taking a lot of space on taskbar which is almost half of it and blocks the view for notifications. Also, it is quite annoying to see it. If it were a logo i would have ignored it but since it is taking half of status bar that is why i am annoyed and want it to be removed/hidden.
Please help me with this. I really love this phone but this thing is turning me off from using it. I have put my sim in old phone and using it till i find some solution for resolving it.
For reference i have attached the screenshots.
Same problem with "Telephonica 02 UK Limited" taking up about a third of the status bar.
Did you find a solution in the end?
Guess it depends on the carrier. I'm in Canada with "Videotron" and it's nowhere to be seen in the status bar...

Well not as of yet. I have found some workarounds but i don't know which one might work.
1. first option is to install system UI tuner from play store, granting adb permissions and see if the app opens any settings for hiding the carrier name.
2. flashing it with some other rom.
3. rooting it and then installing custom rom.
i have tried the 1st option so far and there is no such option in system ui tuner to hide the carrier name. I am afraid of doing the rest of other options because i am not a techy person and i dont want to end up with a bricked phone.
