[GUIDE] [ROOT] Enable T-Mobile VoHSPA/HSPA+ - Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discussion
[size=+1]This guide was written as a primer to attaching RCS/IMS services to carrier networks that normally do not carry this type of traffic. Additionally, this guide will help you maximize your phone's capabilities by allowing you internet access while on a call simultaneously on networks other than LTE/WiFi. I expect in smaller towns where LTE coverage isn't as great this will help give you back that functionality. I will only be providing instructions for HSPA/HSPA+ (aka HSPA-DC or Dual Channel) as it's the only one I've tested, but since you'll have access to everything, you can experiment a little.[/size]
Prerequisites:
Rooted Samsung S7 (I used SM-G930F, may work with S6/S8, haven't tested), w/XAA CSC (TMB CSC may work as well, haven't tested)
Phone INFO
A little bit of balls, and willingness to deal with possible blowback by T-Mobile (they haven't said anything to me, yet, but this is breaking the standards!)
Steps:
Launch Phone INFO, open the main menu on the top left (3-bars), select "Secret Codes". (If you get any errors, hit YES to continue anyways, let it sit for a minute and if it doesn't stop searching, just tap to stop the searching early.)
Scroll through the secret codes, look for the app "Settings" with applet code "com.samsung.avdp.imssettings.SecretCodeReceiver" (On my SuperStock 2.8 S7 it's code number 467), select it and finally select Launch 0.
In the IMS SETTINGS display you now have click on IMS Profile.
Select TMobile LTE/WiFi
Select Network Enabled (>)
Here you can select which network types you want to enable IMS service on, the options "lte" and "wifi" should already be checked. You can now check "hspa" here as well for this guide.
[highlight]NOTE:[/highlight]
If "lte" is true 4G LTE (All carriers);
"hspa" is T-Mobile's original "4G" (high speeds >10mbps, slightly higher latency, rolled out to compete with Verizon's speeds prior to LTE)
"umts" is "3G"
"gsm" is "2G"
"ehrpd" is Sprint/Verizon's "EVDO" (for Sprint/Verizon users this may be an option instead of hspa?)
"tdscdma" is Sprint/Verizon's "3G".
Press back on the phone, next click on Service (>)
Scroll down to the "HSPA" section, you'll see all the services are blank, we need to enable which services to use on this type of network;
mmtel
smsip
slm
im
ft
presence
euc
Press back on the phone, and finally hit the Save (disk icon) button at the top, and back out completely.
Now when you're on HSPA/HSPA+ on T-Mobile's networks, you'll have the VoLTE icon and calls will be handled over data versus tying up the entire radio. (Check out my screenshot!) You can be bold enough to enable additional networks, though I caution that none of the other T-Mobile valid options umts/gsm will likely have enough throughput or low enough latency to be effective at all. Additionally, I noted when a call started, the phone took a little bit to adjust the jitter buffer to play the call smoothly, resulting in my voice coming through the other person's end garbled and jittery for the first few seconds (they came through fine to me). Once the call is up for 5+ seconds it's likely fully adjusted and you should have no problems afterwards. Do remember that because of the additional latency on the lower networks, you are going to have more delay in your conversation, though on my test call in the middle of the California desert along the I-5 between SF and LA, it wasn't noticeable on either side of the call. During that test call, I kept my Google Maps updated with the latest traffic conditions on my car's tablet via hotspot, so mission accomplished (for me at least).
Let me know in the replies if you attempted this tweak, where you tested, and if it worked for you!
An interesting idea... I'm gonna try this soon on my G930F.
It's rather clever that you flashed the CSC from XAA or another US carrier on top of the international firmware, to enable carrier specific features.
Been struggling with this for while, going about the wrong way by loading /patching certain modules/app to accomplish this. Why didn't I think of this?? he-he
Which initial CSC firmware did you use on your G90F, OXA/UUB/XEF/XEU?
In addition to selecting WiFi, LTE, HSPA etc, which one of these did you select for Tmo?
mmtel, smsip, slm, im, ft, presence, euc
I have AT&T as my carrier.
Thanks!

Firmware is XXU (SuperStock v2.8), for you add the XAA CSC (it has all the US carriers blended into it), and when you go in to tweak these settings, you should see just LTE enabled for you (since AT&T does not support wifi calling at this time as far as I know), just copy all the options selected there, EXCEPT video, video is far too heavy to be put on any other network than WiFi or LTE.

Great, I also have a Qualcom S7 (G930A) with original AT&T firmware, which has VoLTE (Voice over LTE/IP).
That's the primary reason I'd like to try your mod to get VoLTE working on the Exynos S7 (G930F).
I understand I have to select WiFi and LTE, but I'm a bit confused when you said "just copy the selections",
which particular items should I select/enable from this list?: mmtel, smsip, slm, im, ft, presence, euc
Would you happen to know the meaning of those acronyms?
I understand that I just flash the CSC file only from the XAA package, but what's the REGION code of your main XXU firmware?
XXU has to be a sub-set of one of the ones below, but not sure which one.
If you look at the last few lines in your CSC file with a hex viewer, you should be able to see it.
As you can see in this list, after the "/" would be your sub-code XXU, but I need the main region code in order the obtain the same main firmware as you have. Though not absolutely necessary, I'm just curious about the XXU version.

That is the list you need to select and on WiFi and LTE, settings should already be there if you flashed the XAA CSC correctly.

Thanks for all the info.
By the way, the CSC code ZTO stands for Brazil, and secret code 467 stands for I.M.S.
In case anyone is interested, I have found a shortcut to the CSC changer activity as follows:
Root the phone.
Install the "Shortcut Master" app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
Search for "Preconfig"
Run com.sec.android.Preconfig.Preconfig
Select the carrier CSC, and press Install.
Reboot the phone.

[Q] Carrier doesn't appear
Just a (stupid) question. I bought Atrix ATT and I have it unlocked but the name of the carrier in Swiss does not display. I tried all the anothers networks and they appear any ideas? Thanks
Try flashing a different radio with rsd lite
wow. alot of people try to get their carrier to disappear.
Sometimes its really helpful to have it shown, like me for instance, I travel back and forth between two countries and I need to know which carrier I'm on. I know there is a roaming indicator, but its not near as visible as a carrier name. So I too like to know a way of enabling that feature. Oh by the way, the suggested radio change didn't work for me, no carrier name showed up. Sent from my Atrix using Tapatalk

You may be lacking your carrier's info here.

Samsung galaxy S5- How to enable ussd codes
Sm-g900f in Oklahoma with At&t as carrier Would like to change my data from H to 4G or LTE. Seems I need my USSD codes running to change the band. Also have been experiencing issues with my keyboard not responding correctly and games crashing. Aux port pauses when I turn my music up loud as well. So how would I go about fixing these issues and making my S5vnore suitable for the US? Thank you in advance -CodyLarry
Dialer codes aka USSD, secret, factory or service mode codes are embedded into the Samsung i.e. Touchwiz firmware. The codes that are possible vary from one firmware release to another. It's highly unlikely that your dialer codes are disabled on a 900F model like Verizon does for some of their handsets. You can confirm this on a rooted phone by looking for the following setting in build.prop Code: sys.hiddenmenu.enable=1 There are innumerable threads listing the dialer codes and you can find out which ones work on your phone by trying them. Be warned that a few codes perform functions such as factory resets, so it would be prudent to know what the code ostensibly does before employing it. You can also look at my post here which explains that more codes are accessible if entered on the CLI than through the dialer. e.g. Code: su am broadcast -a android.provider.Telephony.SECRET_CODE -d android_secret_code://27663368378 rather than *#27663368378# .

Offline mode unavailable & unable to d/l UK English
Good afternoon. Hope someone can help as I have never expereinced a problem like this on my previous S3, I just got a new S7E and I set it up to use UK English, when I click on the microphone button in the message box (either text or WhatsApp), it beeps and says "OFFLINE MODE UNAVAILABLE". I then clicked on the gear icon and looked at the language settings, the US English is up to date and set as the default, I also d/l'ed the French language pack without any issues, but when I tried the UK English, nothing happens, the pack is there looking like its ready to d/l and I can cancel it, but nothing is actually happening. This is with SwiftKey. I have also tried it with the Samsung keyboard & Google speech and its the same. The UK language pack just isnt being downloaded I am based in Dubai and I have tried this on my home WiFi, via a friends VPN connection and via my mobile data so it's not something specific to the Middle East (and I had no issues with the S3). The phone is completely upto date with all the software etc done. Could anyone point out what I am doing wrong or if it is a general error and I am not admitting defeat to my Apple friends who said I should swap from 'droid to IOS - they can bugger right off...! Many thanks Claire
Volte settings for Pakistani networks
Hello guys.. as title suggests, volte is soon to be deployed across country and Telenor has already activated it according to them (although there is still not much about it on their website) and Zong will soon follow Telenor. So for guys who are using S7 series in Pk, our phones are near the end of their software support (unless samsung updates their policy), we may not be able to receive the volte enabling updates in our phones for Pk networks, but the updates will come for S8/S9 series for sure. So, in this regard I have created this thread if anyone of you owns an S8/S9 too and gets those volte updates, do share those csc specific settings embedded in the rom here : root/system/csc/pak/system/csc/customer.xml&others.xml I am sure someone at xda would be able to copy those settings for S7 series too (if its possible). I have attached the current pak csc settings if someone wants to modify them to test for volte networks and others to try them. I will keep this thread updated accordingly in case of any development in this regard.
[Help][Guide][Philippines]SM-N9860 TGY/BRI/CHC Snapdragon Users|5G Reception Fix|Updated Guide for OneUI4.0
Hi! I created this thread for SM-N9860 HK/TW/CH variant users from Philippines. The GOAL is to make our units work with our local carriers': 4G Carrier Aggregation (4G CA) (i.e. 4G+/LTE-A). 5G network and resolve any carrier related issues that you want to address. First, I will share my personal experience with my unit using my Globe 5G enabled postpaid sim. My N20U 5G unit is from Hongkong with TGY (Hongkong) CSC. While on TGY, 4G CA and 5G on my unit were NOT working. I am only getting max 20mbps with 4G and not getting the 4G+ signal. Note: To check the existing CSC, go to settings > about phone > software info >service provider SW ver. You should see something like TGY/TGY,TGY/TGY. However, I was able to change my CSC from TGY to BRI (Taiwan's CSC) using the procedures in this thread. I am now on BRI and I am glad that 4G CA is now working. I am already getting 70-125mbps on speedtest with it. Check this post on how to check 4G CA. However, I have not tested the 5G signal yet as I am far from a 5G enabled location. It's noteworthy though that Taiwan telcos use 5G bands n78, n257 and LTE DSS which include that n78 5G band being used by telcos in the Philippines (source: List of 5G NR networks ) I am hoping for fellows to hit this thread try this change and test if this will work on his/her network, hopefully on 5G network too.
