6T Dead - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hi!
Went to bed last night and plugged my 6t in the original charger and cable.
Today when i wake up, the phone it completey dead. Just a black screen.
Ive tested all the stuff, changing charger, plugging it in to my computer, holding down powerbutton + vol down for both looong and short time, powerbutton + vol up for both long and short time.
Doesnt show up in the device manager on my computer either.
Nothing works, it doesnt even vibrate.

Yes, the power cable is plugged. Also, the same happens when I docked the TF101. Looks to me this thing is dead
Mine did the same thing twice now; while trying to root or flash or whatever...
Just leave it plugged in for an hour or two...and then try again...

Phone not turning on and led flashing rapidly

I just flashed MOAR rom on my phone a few days ago and everything was working perfectly then while at work I pulled my phone out of my pocket and noticed my case had slipped off and was holding the power button down. After fixing the case I tried to unlock my phone and nothing came up on my screen. I held down the power button and the only thing that happened was my LED indicator is flashing green rapidly and at different brightness. Then I pulled the battery and left it out of my phone for 2 hours and still the only thing that is happening is the LED. When I plug it into my computer without me hitting the button the LED is flashing. It wont boot into recovery and I don't want to send it in and them find a custom rom on it so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am assuming it won't go into download mode either? Try holding the power button in for at least 30-40 seconds.

No, I've tried holding just the power button for a minute or trying to go into either download or recovery mode and got nothing.

Try the same thing with the charger plugged in.
"Try holding down the power button for 1 minute with the charger connected. If this doesn't present the screen, try holding the power button AND both volume buttons at the same time. This should bring up a menu. There should be an option for reboot or force reboot"

Thanks for trying to help, I've tried holding both volume and power button for a minute and nothing. After having it plugged in for a few minutes my battery started to get warm.

Just something I found while looking for answers. At least your battery is getting warm. That is better than the alternative.

Will it do anything? Like if u hold the power button down does the screen slightly lighten showing the power is turning on but no animations or anything? Have u tried plugging it in and seeing what it does. Or plug it in and hold power button. Maybe pull battery for min and plug back in.
Does not do anything, which is weird because before it shut off it was in odin mode.I don't think that would brick it.

Phone died now no response from anything

So my phone was at around 40% today, when it decided to die on me. In my pocket, don't know what happened, or how. I have tried charging it, and trying to get to twrp, but with no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I don't know if I should try taking out the battery, or for how long i should charge it?
Have you tried just holding the power key down for 15-30 seconds? Could just be SOD...

I have tried that, and no response, phone also does not heat up when plugged in either.
What do you mean by SOD?? Is it fully dead at this point considering it shut off at 40% and now I can't get any response?

SOD is "Sleep Of Death"... Basically the kernel can't wake up from deep sleep, but if you held the power that long it should have forced a hard reboot.
Does it show anything at all in device manager when you connect it?

Ah ok got it. But yeah i figured it should've responded to the power button being held down.
Shows nothing in device manager, and adb devices returns nothing

Nothing at all? Not even a Qualcomm QDLoader device? Hmm... Not good.
I would try different USB cable and charger combos... But at this point opening it and disconnect/reconnect battery might be best chance but honestly most phones in this condition never work again.

Nothing at all haha. It doesn't seem good at all. I'll try the battery, but you're probably right, I'm guessing it's done now and not going to work again.
Thanks for your help, most likely time for a new phone
Same happened on an s4. It was that the power button was trapped. Try to hit your phone on the power button

I don't know if this would be the case, I'll try disconnecting the battery, but it would've been super unexpected for the battery to crap out, as it has been performing fairly well and was not really showing any age until now.

Not to get your hopes up... But sometimes you can just disconnect the battery, wait 5 minutes, then reconnect it, and it will take off.

There's always the old freezer trick. Put it in a plastic bag then into the freezer for a couple of minutes and then plug it into a computer. I've had to do this before (unresponsive after a modem upgrade) but nothing over 5 minutes. This was way back in the Gingerbread days...
I know this is probably something weird, but the same thing happened with my X Style. Phone was working fine and then suddenly stopped working after a reboot (died after turn off). Nothing helped me till now. No idea what to do.

I had mine plugged in and suddenly it started flashing the white charging screen, then I tried to boot it up, and got about 0.75 seconds in when it shut off and started randomly flashing the charging screen every couple of minutes on and on... Has to have been a hardware failure, something has to have fried inside. But try what acejavelin posted a few days up, see if holding the power button 30 seconds works for it to power up. When I did that mine tried to power up, but then shut off, you will maybe have different luck though

I just considered mine dead because of it's sporadic behaviour trying to boot up. Plus @acejavelin said most phones in this state don't come back, I actually went ahead and got a OnePlus5 and retired the mxpe

That's sad to hear. But good to see you got a OP5. I've been thinking about getting a Pixel 2 (when it launches)

Help! My OP6T is bricked!

I was going to shut off my phone and let it charge, now that I came back and tried to turn it on it's stuck on the "The boot loader is unlocked and software..." screen.

unplug from charger and try to restart phone by holding power button..
if that doesn't work - let it discharge by itself

Dude you're not bricked. This phone doesn't like being charged when it's off. Same thing happened to me. While stuck in that menu hold vol+ and the power for 5-10 seconds. It'll reboot. It also may go into fastboot mode...if it does, just boot into system from there.

It's been around 17 hours and the display is still on, what should I do?
Hi you can shutdown the phone. by pressing both volume up and down and power button simultaneously for 10 seconds or 20 untill it shutdown. that is the way to force shutdown the oneplus when its stuck.
dont let it charge when the phone still in shutdown start the phone and charge it.
