In case I am mistaken, currently I own an unlocked ATT model on Tmobile. Recently my area was refarmed to take advantage of the HSPA+ so I get full high speed data on my phone with Tmobile. I was looking at the Japanese Xperia PLAY SO-01D model and it supports all frequencies that US Tmobile uses. So perhaps if you want full support you should look into buying the Japanese Model:
See here for Japanese model Specs, notate the Frequencies:
http://www.umnet.com/phone/6637-Sony_Ericsson_SO01D_Xperia_PLAY
Japanese Model Specs:
Sony Ericsson SO-01D Xperia PLAY Specifications
Networks GSM | UMTS
850 | 900 | 1700 | 1800 | 1900 / 2100
Wireless Data GPRS | EDGE | FOMA
Tmobile USA:
UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV),
1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
Just thought I would share my findings.
Edit: Nothing on Ebay in the US however there is a Amazon.com link to buy them.

Very interested, hopefully someone with it on tmobile USA will reply. This interests me very much

I have been watching for a Japanese model for sometime. I figure I have a prototype model and thought it nthrope be cool to have the JPN model as well. It seems to me tis model could be used worldwide. It has more frequencies then other model.
Either way I found it interesting

But does the Japanese model support HSPA+?

...and it runs on fuel cells. It slices! It dices! Makes salad in a snap!
OK, this is getting a little silly: I'm sure we'd all know if it had HDMI out.

Japanese xperia play is originally the developer edition of xperia play which has a hidden hdmi port that you can use it by removing the cover of it

Please stop. Developer/Prototype is not what the OP meant by "Japanese version." You act like it was never available normally from a Japanese carrier when it was. See the NTT DoCoMo package linked in this thread? Yeah. Also, this was developed by Ericsson, which was not owned by Sony back then and not in Japan.

sorry i miss understood this
my english is not much good the japanese version doesn't have hdmi output that was z1 model
HDMI had only the model for a fairs. There weren't on sale. Only to use by SE (for example when the showed Minecraft PE).

I bought an R800at ("Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY 4G") and have been using it on T-Mobile - I do have HSPA+.
Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY 4G (R800at)
850/900/1800/1900
GSM | GPRS | EDGE | UMTS | HSPA (HSUPA/HSDPA) | 4G HSPA+
According to the Sony specs, there is no difference between the R800a and R800at radio hardware. So really, the only difference may be the kernel's radio that was stock flashed on the device.
I haven't found any solid specs on the SO-01D frequencies - some sites list 1700, some list 2100, some list both. But the old T-Mobile frequencies required both 1700 and 2100 to get 3G. Since T-Mobile started refarming the 1900, it can work with the 1800 to achieve the same results - so as long as you're in a refarmed area you wouldn't really get anything more out of SO-01D than R800a/R800at.
EDIT:
But I'm willing to go get a model SO-01D and do a speed test comparison.

Hi
No unfort. you cannot unlock bands .. When you buying phone these days and you WANT 4G/LTE it is necessary that you check band compatibility first ..
Here is LTE table check freq. in your phone version and check which matches with german operators..
I don't understand really. That's from my Mobile Phone. You think works whit Vodafone or Telekom?

I'll explain
That picture what u posted shows your phone supports FDD LTE .. focus on that bcos u in EU
SO.. It says B1 B3 and B7 right ?
So now u need to know what that means
B1 - 2100 MHz
B3 - 1800 MHz
B7 - 2600 MHz
So now you know what all B means and check my table which operator has same freqs ... OK ?
So I can see that on
B1 (2100MHz) you have NONE operator supporting 2100MHz so this B1 is useless in germany ..
next ,
B3 (1800MHz) I can see two OP support ; E-Plus and Telekom so nice u have some support ..
next
B7 (2600MHz) here is again Telekom and Vodafone
So conclusion ..
Your phone will work on 4G with E-Plus ,Telekom and Voda
Your phone will never work on 4G with O2 ... bcos your phone doesnt support FDD LTE B20
Got it ?
Ok. I will try tomorrow whit Prepaid Card first. Thank you so much for your Help. Wish you nice Sunday...
Now I try the different Providers. Only E-Plus works in my City. I think Vodafone and Telekom same O2 and use Band 20 here [emoji24]

Although GSMArena says that the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro supports LTE 800MHz, as well as 1800MHz and 2600MHz, the sellers on ebay do not show the 800MHz band.
Does anyone know if there are maybe different versions of the phone for different counties/regions?
Yes, look here: LTE Band differences between the Chinese and the ROW

CN smartfone only FDD LTE 1800/2600MHz
Just like some other Chinese phones the Axon 7 "flagship" will lack the 800mhz 4G/LTE band it seems.

Thanks for your reply, I suppose and I hope it will work for me too..
Do you receive OTA updates normally?
Yes, even after a month of test I didn't find anything causing problem
The only thing I had to change is the SMS/MMS app because the stock one don't work on standard MMS network
Very good news ! I use mood for sms/mms so not a problem for me.. I will probably buy this phone in few days.
Thank you again for your quick replies ?

Canada as mentionned works fine... The only issue I see with France is LTE bands. Are yours supported? Check the LTE bands with your operator and what the Z-Force supports, otherwise you might be stuck with 3G only (Which has all bands)

Z-Force droid is a verizon branded and exclusive phone... Was never released anywhere else from what I was told, so you'll have USA bands. You're supported for LTE, as B7 (2600) and B13 (700) tough. The Global version of the Moto Z (Non-Droid) would have global bands.
Verizon screwed people and moto over badly by making this phone an exclusive. Moto Z Force should have been the flagship Moto, not the Moto Z or the Z play...

So I am glad to hear that the French operator "free mobile" is totally compatible with unlocked verizon USA bands, and it will good to know it for future smartphone bought in USA, because it's a good deal (at least 100€ off with Europe, z force at the price of z play...) to buy flagship in USA
Just so you know, if you want to get a replacement shattershield, you'll have to order it from Moto and have to have a US shipping address... I can't get one shipped to Canada, sadly.

Yeah, I know shipito, I've supplied it to a few people in the forums Only issue is it becomes expensive for a 30$ screen replacement. I have friends in the US who can forward the package to me... So that'll be sufficient I think! Thanks though
