Service Provider SW Ver - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Regarding the service provider SW ver information in settings, what does each of the 3 variant designations actually represent.
I have an unlocked s10+ with the original unlocked firmware and a Tmobile sim. When initially putting the tmobile sim in, the phone re-configured itself according to the sim's carrier. The service provider SW ver shows as TMB/TMB/XAA. I know that TMB is tmobile and XAA is US unlocked, but what does each of those 3 positions exactly represent?
Note that I don't have any of the carrier bloatware, have the unlocked specific features working (built-in caller ID for example), and some carrier specific features work (wifi calling / VoLTE). I haven't done any firmware flashing on this device yet.

AT&T phones are network locked. Not region locked. I used my S4 (with roaming on) in UK, Canada, Penama, Korea, Thailand where AT&T local network is available. To use local network or other network, your phone need to be network (sim) unlocked.

I am an AT&T user for 20 years and AT&T always deny to give me the network unlock code. They do provide the network unlock code for the iphone users if they the phone was already paid off (after 2 years contract).
When I asked the network unlock code for my previous AT&T phones, (nokia, LG, HTC) AT&T told me to use the AT&T roaming network and they put me on the worldwide roaming program.
When I tried to unlock my S4 i337, AT&T asked me to go to a link for the unlock instruction but S4 was not listed in there. AT& T told me that if the phone is not listed they could not provide the unlock code.
I end up using cellunlocker.net for all my phones network unlocking. It cost about US$ 30.00 .
You can try to request unlock code from AT&T first at www.att.com. Explain to them about your situation. They might help you. If they denied, just use the paid service like I did.
If AT&T doesn't provide a free unlock code, try ebay.

The free method seems to work on very old bootloaders and modems.

Specification need for G935U vs. G935U (AT&T)

https://www.phonemore.com/compare/p...5u-vs-samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-sm-g935a/5532054
This compares a G935U vs. a G935A
What firmware would I flash to get the features of the G935U (left picture)
I just flashed my phone with the G935U (AT&T) and although it works fine with no AT&T bloatware, it is missing
some of the GSM bands of the G935U (Left picture) and all of the CDMA bands.
Thank you,
Ken
Unless your phone is a true "U" unlocked model, it will not have the same bands as each of the specific carrier variants such as the AT&T variant. I've never confirmed if flashing a different firmware and modem (CP file) will open up other bands on a carrier branded phone. Maybe someone else has tested this and can offer their input. I tend to doubt it's possible because i think the bands are hard coded onto the chipset thus making it virtually impossible to "activate" unsupported bands on any given model. good luck.
Nope, the modem bands are not changed by the firmware flashing. I have flashed "U" firmware over my "V" phone and it still had only the "V" bands. This is similar to all Snapdragon radio modems - it happened the same way on my older moto and Asus phones too.
The bands can be software forced "on" by flashing the Qualcomm NV memory (with Qualcomm tools) but, in my experience, they will still be not be working. More, at every official upgrade, the "old" value of the NV is reset to original hardware bands.
I have flashed my 935V with 935U (AT&T) firmware and besides the no more bloatware I do
get bands LTE 12 and 30 for sure that I did not get with the 935V when in the GSM mode.

I know for sure that flashing the U over V did not change the bands on my phone (not the A firmware), the NV value remained (reverted) to the original bands. Did that even after the OTA Oreo upgrade of the Nougat U version.
Cell #06828 has the value 4190 on the V version of S7.
If you use the LTE Band Calculator you will see that's 2,3,4,5,7,13.
Can you post a service screen with that working (dial *#0011#)?
LE: I stand corrected. The U firmware re-flashes the modem's CSC file with every change of the SIM. In that process it activates ONLY the bands needed for that CSC - this includes the 2G, 3G and 4G/LTE. This is unlike any other Android phone, where the bands are always the same.
There are other things affected by this file, for example the APN, or the accessibility of the Service menu (*#0011*) or the menu to view/change the LTE bands (*#2263#).
With a Tracfone/Verizon SIM, I get only the Verizon bands (except 66 that is not supported) and a couple of international ones. The flashed CSC file is TFN.
With a AT&T SIM, I get a lot more bands, including all AT&T (except 14 and 66 that's not supported) and international ones. Flashed CSC file is ATT.
With an international SIM (Vodafone), flashed CSC file is XAA.
The U firmware has available the following CSC codes: ACG, AIO, ATT, BST, GCF, LRA, SPR, TFN, TMB, TMK, USC, VMU, VZW, XAA, XAS.

Obtaining ATT Specific Functions On An Unlocked Phone

Hey Everybody,
So I've come to realize that my unlocked US S10+ on AT&T didn't have VOLTE or Wifi calling as options in the communication/call settings menus. this is pretty disappointing as it seems that using the unlocked phone with Verizon you get these features, and they make a decent impact on my use of the phone.
My understanding is if I flash the ATT firmware to the phone I would get the functions, so being an amateur I followed some simple guides to SamFirm AND ODIN, and downloaded the ATT CSC firmware for my model number. However after going through the Odin process and resetting my phone it is still showing the same Software information as prior to my installation, and I do not have the features.
I saw a thread on the board stating that the ATT firmware isn't available yet, so I'm not sure if what I downloaded was actually any different than what is on my phone, and my phones "Service Provider Software Version" did already have ATT in the description, which is a bit confusing to me.
Am I correct in understanding the only way to get the features would be through a firmware flash? And would anyone know if I had flashed the right firmware, and what the original firmware CSC would be for my model if I needed to revert?
My information is:
Model Number:
SM-G975U1 (S10+ ceramic white 512GB - Unlocked US)
Service Provider SW ver.:
SOAMC_SM-G975U1_OYM_ATT_PP_0018

If it's anything like the S9 was, you can't just ODIN the firmware/CSC. You'll just get the bloat with none of the features you want.

I've heard this as well. If you want those features on a Samsung phone, it has to be at&t branded. I ordered an at&t phone from Samsung since I make good use of wifi calling. It works fine on my unlocked P3XL but no dice on the Samsungs.
I have the same phone and service and when I went to update my imei they told me it could not find the phone. So I was without lte/4g for a day until I gave them a imei to a s8 active. Now I have data at least

So I have the same service provider software, on my unlocked s10+, however when I went into an ATT store and looked at a branded S10+
I noticed the service provider software version to be : SOAMC_SM-G975U1_OYM_ATT_PP_0033( thirty three at end),
so anyway to update the service provider version? does that come from the SIM ??
I have an unlocked S10 plus and I flashed the AT&T Firmware. I now have VoLTE and WiFi calling unlocked on my phone using AT&T. You need to make sure you flash the U version of the firmware, not the U1 one. Unlocked S10 is using the U1 firmware already so flashing that one again changes nothing.

I kinda doubt it but did any of you with unlocked phones that flashed the AT&T firmware get any better service? I've been considering it to get VOLTE but just wondered

I followed this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/how-to/att-ota-ota-updates-t3909697
At first like you I downloaded the wrong version and nothing changed. I finally flashed G975USQU1ASBA and now have VOLTE/WIFI Calling and of course all of the bloat. But at least those two functions are working. Make sure that you complete a clean flash when I did a dirty flash I had problems sticking on the loading screen.
I believe you just need to call in ATT to take care those carrier specific features .
Which firmware can I flash with Odin to my S10+ Xfinity Mobile unlocked to get AT&T OTA updates? Currently have ASF7 flashed from the latest unknown firmware uploaded to Sammobile. I flashed w/o USERDATA. I just want to be able to get future OTA updates as I just switched my carrier from Metro by T-Mobile to AT&T. I was using U1 US unlocked firmwares on my Note9 & S10+ but want to use carrier perks now with AT&T.
What's with AT&T being the only ones to not release update files? You would think they all would be required to release them. More AT&T customers need kick up a fuss about it.

S10+ Unlocked Firmware Help

I just got a question, i flashed unlocked firmware on my Verizon S10+and i have a AT&T sim. under the software information in settings, i see if i check the Service provider SW ver it shows ATT/ATT/VZW, is that normal or is it supposed to show up XAA/XAA/VZW? if it is not normal how would i be able to fix this?
I would say it doesn't matter as long as your phone is working as it should.

A question about firmware flashing due to recent ATT 3G shutdown issue

I have a S8 purchased as factory unlocked from samsung directly, which is U1 version.
Recently, I got notice from ATT about 3g shutdown, and I can see that S8 U1 does not support VolTE, but S8 ATT version does.
I know I can flash U1 to ATT version, but I have some questions
1) what is carrier switch?
I know there are 3 tutorial, flashing from carrier variant to unlocked, flashing from unlocked to carrier variant and carrier switch.
For my case, what is the different philosophy (not asking about steps) between carrier switch and flashing from unlocked to carrier variant?
2) can I keep my data while trying to resolve VoLTE issue? (carrier switch with Home CSC?)
3) Is there any way I can keep the bloatware-free OS while working with VoLTE (like unlocked AP + ATT CP hybrid)?
4) If carrier swithed to ATT with my S8, does it work with other sim card?
5) side question, I got a S20 from ATT, and I flashed it with U1 firmware, is it true unlocked version (I see ATT/ATT/ATT)? How can I make it true unlocked version. I am confused with the change of ATT/ATT/ATT and flashing firmware
