dual clock and +1 added to numbers on some received calls - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I have recently switched from HTC 10 to S10+ on ATT.
I have so far two major concerns:
- I can't find automatic dual time traveling clock on S10+ or weather clock widget with dual time traveling clock like HTC offers, where the phone displays Home and current time and weather respectively
- the phone adds +1 to numbers of some received international calls. It is impossible to modify the number in Recents and call back
I would appreciate input on that.

If you go to clock in app menu, is there not four options at the bottom, alarm, world clock, stopwatch & timer, world clock has two different time zones, you could do a dual clock widget, not sure about weather tbh...

Thank you, but this works, if you want to find out what time is now at certain location. I am looking for an automated actual location picker for the current location and Home time simultaneously. The widget is supposed to tell you what time and weather is a location you land as well as at your Home. It is nicely done on HTC phones.

You may have to use two widgets of the same app to achieve your goal. One widget from the same app use current time zone and the 2nd widget of the same app use another time zone.

GS2's Accuweather Widget

Two questions about the GS2's Accuweather Widget.
First, it doesn't seem to update the weather without me hitting the update sync, it also doesn't update locations like Beautiful Widgets does.
Second, I'm also using Launcher Pro, but when I try and resize the Accuweather Widget, the blue color back ground doesn't fit.
So anyone know how to resize in LP?
And get the thing to update the weather and locations?
Thanks

Go launcher, launcher pro and adw fail to resize stock widgets correcty.... You can see that in this video too

Ok, thought so on LP.
What about the updating of the Accuweather widget and locations?
I'm using the AccuWeather Wideget, and I found that disabling the "Enable current location" on AccuWeather causing the high power consumption service "Wifi Sharing Service" disappear from Battery Status list, it used to take 30-40% of my GS2 battery.

I'll try this now. If it works, you would have solved a problem that has been bugging me since May!

Well I've been running Launcher Pro and went back to TW4 today, I had the Accuweather widget running all day with the check mark on Enable Current Location and I have to say my battery life was much better than running Launcher Pro. I didn't use the phone that much today, sat on the desk at home, but push email from K9 was running all day a few text messages ect and for at least 3 hours it showed 100%, right now its at 95%. Thats with WiFi Bluetooth and Sync ON.
When I'm on LP I use Beautiful Widgets, I like how that widget updates your location and weather, but maybe thats whats draining my battery faster than Accuweather.
But exactly what does Enable Current Location do in Accuweather? It doesn't detect my Current location thats for sure.

Please also disable the following functions beside AccuWeather Enable Current Location:
Voice Command & Voice Talk (preloaded on GS2)
Uncheck Settings -> Use location

As my understanding, the Accuweather will keep detecting your location in certain interval to make sure it reporting the weather on your current city and display on the widget. When you have your WIFI On, and you have "Use wireless networks" checked in "Location and security", it will wake up the "Wireless Sharing" service and Accuweather or Voice Command / Voice Talk will use that "Wireless Sharing" service to keep detecting your location, that's why most of the time you see that service drain your battery for 20%-40% daily. Maybe I'm wrong but proved on my phone this method really work.

Thanks Sleepycat, please tell us the result! Hopefully the solution can temporary fix on every GS2 phones' battery problem before Samsung releasing the new firmware.
I think I might have figured out the Enable Current Location feature, it looks like it uses the GPS. Now I'm not sure if it updates on its own like Beautiful Widgets, which btw doesn't use the GPS since I always have it off.

[Q] Asus Weather Widget - Tap to Open Forecast App

is there a way to open another app when you tap on the standard asus weather widget?
i tried using tasker but couldnt find a way, any other apps that can do this?
i want ironically to open the accuweather honeycomb app just by tapping on the asus weather widget
this would be great. tapping it to open the weeks forecast.
i stopped using the widget because i noticed that many times when id come back to my home page, the numbers (say 89 deg) was cut off. it was weird, but half og the numbers would end up "cut off" on the screen
I have the same problem, sometimes it's cut in half. But the weirdest thing is: Since the last update the temperature is wrong, about 10 C.
Just to chime in...
I also have the "cut in half" issue often. On top of that I don't get the temp updated on schedule. I set it to every hour and it will randomly update but not every hour. It may not be random, but I haven't spent enough time to determine the pattern.

My Samsung Galaxy S2 has such a widget, which opens the Accu Weather website, when being tapped on.
Search the market place, there's a free Accu Weather widget for Honeycomb with the same functionality, though the design isn't that nice looking for my taste.

It seems to be a bug in the widget, because the system logs say, the Accu Weather servers are unreachable. The widget of my SGS2 always reaches the same servers.

I used to have that, but since using ADW EX Launcher it's a thing of the past. It's almost as if the 'transparent' box which determines the size of the widget somehow becomes smaller so you can get the clean cut on the numbers.
With the ADW EX launcher, you can make the transparent box which controls the overall size of the widget a little bit bigger so you don't get the problem.

In my case the problem with the cut off numbers also didn't happen again ... don't know why. I don't use a different launcher, only a new keyboard. I use the Hackers Keyboard, because it has cursor keys, which come in handy, when answering forum posts

Download "The Weather Channel" app. You can place a widget on one of your screen, tap on the widget to open up the full weather app. I have the said app and works well. Just that the widget isn't as fancy as fancy as Asus' weather app.

Call me paranoid, but I would NEVER install a weather app, that needs the permission to send SMS and make phone calls. Ok, on the TF that's not a problem, but it makes me wonder, what info this app is trying to spy out ... read the details HERE.
I would stay away from this app.

HTC weather app Vs Google Now weather

I love the HTC weather app as it looks so beautiful, but I must say a lot of the time the weather forecasts seem to be incorrect compared to Google now weather forecasts...Has anybody else noticed this, or just me lol?
For example it's raining right now and HTC weather app says it is a clear night whilst Google now app correctly reports that that it should be raining...there is nothing wrong with the location on the HTC spp app as it gets its location via GPS...
Would be cool if the app was updated do the user could change weather providers ?

Most weather apps contradict each other. Google now gets its data from The Weather Channel. HTC gets its data from Accuweather.
Just keep an eye on both and see which you trust. right now its party sunny where I am. Google reflects that and says 16 degrees, so too does HTC. Its a draw where I am!
That sounds like good strategy thanks for tee reply
But the HTC weather app doesn't use the integrated barometer sensor for a more accurate prediction in the area?

No it uses... just read the picture....
I use Beautiful Widgets Weather Widget because it's just..........well.......Beautiful. It can use either Accuweather or Weather Underground. I use Accuweather and it's always spot on.
I agree with @theandies i am also using BW and uses accu which is always spot on for me.

Yotaphone 2 wishlist

Let's hear your wishes for features for the yotaphone 2 in particular panels, apps and uses for the EPD, let's hope the developers at Yotaphone are monitoring this forum and take some ideas from us.
Here's mine for starters.
1. Notifications.
A Yota panel that acts as a Notification centre for all the notifications other than calls, emails and sms. The present system of getting you to flip over the phone is clunky and the weakest part of the whole experience. I would like to select which apps send notifications to the panel and then scroll, swipe and select them from the EPD as the appear. An Android wear compatable panel could be awesome.
2. Browser
A search bar yotapanel, like the google now one on the main home screen, this would open to an EPD optimised Web browser.
3. Some system toggle short cuts.
A panel where you can select system stuff E.g bluetooth on/off, airplane mode on/off, silent/buzz/normal volume toggle.....etc.
Sent from my GT-N8010 using XDA Premium HD app
Good idea for a thread.
Notification wise I love the sms and phone part of it, the other 2 are nice but I agree. They could be much better integrated. If yota could get the panels to integrate the mirror function on the notification widget bit, or just allow for customised assignment of apps to the email and notification app then it would be a bit less annoying.
Something like htc's blinkfeed or the flow home launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.larvalabs.flow&hl=en_GB) would be good - a hub for general notifications, social media, rss feeds and whatnot.
Also agree that an EPD optimised browser would be nice, something basic and clean.
A settings panel would be excellent, I don't really use the music or book one, settings would be a nice function and a good way to keep use localised to the EPD if needed.
Need a few more options for the big panels, don't really use the reader or music player panels as I tend to use kindle app for reading and music player wise I listen to a lot of audio books and find that skipping back and forth is quicker using normal display.
Some more half page panels could be nice too, like a calculator and /or unit converter.
One thing i really miss so far is the clock alarm widget for Yota panel.
Sent from my YD201 using XDA Free mobile app
Just FYI, there is an EPD optimised browser, there is just no easy way to launch it. You can launch it by either clicking on twitter/rss links, or by launching chrome on the normal display and then holding the home button and selecting the place where YotaMirror usually is (the yota mirror icon will be replaced with some weird arrow icon).
Yes there is an easier way to launch the optimised browser - you just need to add apps launcher widget on yota panel and add chrome shortcut to it.
Sent from my YD using XDA app
Apps are starting to appear in the app store, if you search the store with "Yotaphone" some third party stuff is showing up, there is a great currency converter with a Yota panel widget for the EPD and a couple of e readers and even Office Suite (says Yotaphone optimised)
There's stuff that doesn't mention Yotaphone in the notes so why they come up I don't know, anyway stuff us starting to appear which is great

If you're using the big analogue clock which covers half the screen, then the digital time will show in 12 or 24 hour format below the clock hands according to system settings.

I find it quite clumsy to switch to Yotamirror (unlocking the back screen, press and hold home, select mirror). Should be possible with a gesture or doubletap on statusbar or something.

I just released a small widget which addresses these suggestions/issues. Behold, the Yota Toolbelt!

Stock Weather & Clock Widger

I removed the stock widget that came on my home screen and tried several widgets from the play store, and was unable to find one that I liked. Unfortunately I cannot see to locate the original one. I see the clock widget that had no weather info, and the weather widget is too large. Can anyone help me out with this (or another suggestion)? I just want something small that just displays time, date, and temp. Thanks.
Chronos clock and weather widget has a lot of options, I'm using the paid and have been for years so I may see more than you.
Stock widget is called OnePlus Widget
