Hi All,
Got my Galaxy Buds with the S10+. I am noticing that audio is skipping very frequently if I start walking with the phone in my pocket. Tested with Sony 1000X and if I enabled best audio quality (for LDAC) audio starts skipping. However same doesnt happen with the Sony XB41 wireless speaker. Have no issues if I use the same devices with my Note 9. Nor had any issue with the Note 8 and S9+.
Is anyone else facing the same issue?
Have updated the Galaxy Buds to the latest firmware and the S10+ as well.
Regards,
Shuvadeep
I've had my buds for almost a week now with no issues similar to yours. In fact, I wore them with my phone in my pocket for about an hour with no issues the day I got them. I have received two updates since I got them though. Try manually searching for an update, you should be up to ASC4.
My s10 plus out the box did the same thing as the OP when I first connected it with my car bluetooth. Honestly since then, it hasn't happened to me again. It would even skip in my pocket while at work. I thought it was going to be a problem, I'm not sure what exactly fixed it though

Thank you for your response.
I have already updated the buds to the latest firmware. However the issue is not only with the buds, but aslo with my Sony 1000X which are pretty high end headphones from Sony.
Not sure if this is a HW issue or a software one.

Oh I'm sorry, I misread your post. I thought that you were saying the Sony's didn't have the issue.
I would say try to rule out any interference you may have in your home. Bluetooth is 2.4GHz so you're WiFi, or other similar devices, may be causing an issue.

I have the same issue - it's only when I put the phone in my pocket and start walking. If I hold my phone, the quality is back to normal and there's no skipping. I never had this problem with my old phone and with different wireless audio devices.
Phone and Galaxy buds are up to date as well.

At home I am on the 5GHz network. I have the 2.4GHz radio switched off.
Strange thing is this happens out on the road as well. The moment I start walking with the phone in my pocket, audio starts skipping big time. I take it out of my pcoket and things are back to normal.
Oh !
experienced the same yesterday with the buds. Walked around in the street and the sound started to crack. Changed the bluetooth settings to focus on connectivity vs sound quality but no change.
I thought my app (Plex) might be sleeping in the background whilst my phone was in the pocket but no. That said, it seemed to get better as I unlocked my screen.
Anyone else ?
Do you have the latest firmware ASCA on S10+, my Buds are working much better after the firmware update

Clear the cache from recovery to see if there's an improvement: Volume Up + Bixby + Power, mine improved a lot with this firmware, reset your buds and pair them again
I've had the same problem with this phone and the S9+
Seems to be having the device close to the body. BT5 doesn't push enough power for going though all the water in the body was all I could come up with.
If I set either device on the counter I can walk all though the house, even out to the patio. Actually really good range with no drops.
In pocket walking down the road Buds drop out.
I use the ShureBT2 cable now, no drops even in the pocket. The cable is like a pendant so it sits closer.

Pretty much having the same experience. On way to work they are fine while sitting on the train. When I get to my station and get off to walk to the office, I get drops. In the office I was surprised when I dashed from my desk to the bathroom I pulled the buds out and placed them in my pocket as I expected them to disconnect anyway. After washing my hands in the bathroom, I placed the buds back in my ears, surprisingly as soon as I opened the bathroom door the reconnect and music started playing. The distance is a good 30ft through 2 thin walls and a payne of glass.

Yep the same goes for my sony xm3. Broken music ldac+optimized audio when playing flac. Its annoying enough when it changes my music because screen keep getting touched in pocket, sometimes i had to wake up the screen to fix it. Never had this problem with my note 9.

Sold off the Galaxy buds and got myself the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless and all issues are resolved.
No audio skipping while walking. Heck I even used then while riding my bike (R3) and the helmet (SOL) on. No audio skipping at all.
Audio quality is great and the buds are worth $300.
I was looking at the 1000XM3 however with the audio issues on LDAC with the 1000X drove me to the Sennheiser.
On the latest firmware, the Galaxy Buds connectivity was better than before (did a full factory reset) but didnt resolve all the issues.
One thing that I have noticed is with the Galaxy Buds and Sony 1000X, if I keep the phone on the table or couch, I dont see any audio skipping even if I am moving around.

I thought it should have been fixable with firmware/rom update. I just updated my phone to asd3 but still broken audio if i stream using ldac+priority audio quality. I guess for now i must do away with ldac/best effort to enjoy my music

Hey,
I was planing on getting this phone due to how cheap it is and wanting to try wp7 out.
I read a lot of issues about the phone and kind of discouraged.
The big question I have is should I just wait and see what "if" any newer wp7 phones are coming to Tmobile or should I take the plunge.
Please be honest lol You'll be saving a life if this phone really is a hassel.
the problems with this phone are fixed via new firmware and mango (most likely)
if you waited this long you could wait for the next batch to come out (like the searay)
but if you want a keyboard - this is the phone to get. It is also mad cheap!
i picked one up even tho i already have a w7 phone and i plan to get the new nokia too. (but i'm crazy)
A lot of the problems are reportedly fixed by the new (.212) firmware, which is due out this week! There's a good write-up in the article below.
http://wmpoweruser.com/dell-venue-pro-users-new-fw-report/
My phone is very stable with wifi disabled i.e. no lockups or reboots in over 3 months. The wifi issue is apparently caused by a DMA conflict - the new firmware reportedly fixes this.
It's a very nice phone. I don't regret purchasing mine.
On the downside, the camera is relatively poor. It's also thicker than most phones as it has a (very good) hardware keyboard.
Your decision is whether to get an ageing phone (i.e. DVP) cheap or wait for the next generation devices. This is something you will have to decide for yourself
Great phone...
1. Terrible camera
2. Low (read very) heatset volume
Hence spoils your upload to Facebook fun and also the the zune experience...
I honestly don't recommend this phone
Using .212 .... very stable with wifi
Strange. For me, headset volume has been very good using ue-18 pros. Very powerful at 15/30. However, my DVP is running old firmware(.105) and crashes alot. Like the device, but am still waiting for an update.

As mentioned by aFo3262, the type of headset / earbuds you have can also make a big difference.
I listen to my DVP on the underground using cheap Creative EP-630 earbuds and have never had a problem with the volume being too low. Earbuds that fit inside your ear often give the best volume. They also reduce noise leakage, as long as you have the right size rubber pads, so people around you don't hear what you're listening to.
These are the earbuds I used to use with my iPod. The iPod is louder - however, the DVP goes loud enough that I always leave my iPod at home
Thought I'd mention as I'm not sure how much Dell can / will do to increase the output of the earphone jack.
You should not be using earphones playing music loudly to cover up other loud noises. You will destroy your ears. I am travelling in the UK and I have to agree with magicsquid, on my Skullcandy over-ear headphones the trains and underground seem dull compared to my headset volume of 17/30.
I work outside (very noisy equipment) all day every day and use these:

Highly recommend them.

nod nod to that.
the camera.. even in bright light, is crap!
volume is fine.. but i always keep it maxed. its max is lower than you'd expect. But i'm find with it
running 212 and mango beta 2.
I received mine from the eBay deal 2 days ago. It came with .212 firmware on it and I've had no issues. I put Mango on it today. Performance is good and I have no headphone issues - I'm listening at about 20 (out of 30).
I thought my GNEX had crappy volume output, but this thing is even worse. I love the phone, but I listen to podcasts and audiobooks all day and through my BT and headphones they are really difficult to hear if anything else is going on around me. In my car I used to have the stereo set to 18/40 (with GNEX) to be able to hear the spoken word, now with the 4 I'm cranking it up to 35 which introduces some hiss and distortion. Any ideas how to boost the volume? I've looked into a few apps but none seem to work with JB. Any suggestions would be awesome. And just to note I know it isn't just me. At my brothers house parties music is supplies via a 3.5 plugged into speakers. Everyone's ipods/iphones sound so much louder than my phone, which bums me out.
Agree fully. I use Sony XB500 headphones and coming from my Xperia Arc S + Power amp to e Nexus 4 and power amp, the loudest volume setting is pathetic. It's so frustrating. Is there any way we can get a flashable mod to address this issue? Anybody else experiencing the same issue?
The AUX out is an issue and has been posted and discussed a lot on XDA and Google's pages. It's a problem with the Nexus 4 not just individuals phones. Whether it's hardware or software I don't think I've seen it determined yet.
Bluetooth and headphones shouldn't be that big of a problem. I agree it's a bit quieter than my Gnex but these are still very much usable.

Its usable yes, but for me it's simply not loud enough, even when tweaking around with Poweramp's settings. There are probably a handful of apps on the Play Store which will attempt to ifx it but surely changing the DB (decibel) parameters in the software is something simple to do? That's my train of thought. Just disappointed is all Music is vital for me when working because it blocks the world out for me but I can hear little distractions now.
Hey there,
I'm no audiophile - but this has been bugging me ever since I unboxed my Galaxy Gear and paired it with my Note 3.
I listen to music a lot on my phone using my bluetooth headphones. I noticed that whenever my Gear is connected, bluetooth audio quality suffers a lot - it feels like the bitrate is cut in half or something (shouldn't be necessary, I know BT 4.0 has much more bandwidth than SBC encoded music requires). Highs crackle and feel tinny, and the lows become shallow.
Is there a way to remedy this? I'd hate to have to disconnect my Gear everytime I want to listen to music, which is what I've been doing for the last eight and a half months. Custom ROMs don't help, and it doesn't seem to matter either whether my Gear runs Tizen or Android.
Thanks in advance, I'm psyched to try anything anyone has to offer.

PS. Even if you can't offer a solution, if you've noticed the same thing please reply to this thread so I know I'm not insane or anything. Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion.
CSR diagnostics revealed that bitpool was indeed dropped from 52 to 35 whenever Gear was connected, however this problem counts as solved because I actually managed to enable the hidden aptX support in my headphones, so low bitpool is no longer an issue.
In short: Stop using SBC and the problem will go away.
I don't know how you do that. I got the same issue with my gear and galaxy s5 paired with my sol republic track air. those headphone are supposed to use aptx but my music still suffer a lot when connected to Gear

I got the gear as a gift and I didnt use it anymore ... my music is more important that a watch ....
It seems like the sound on the Note 4 has some dynamic EQ or compression going on, always trying to balance out the volume of the sound. Whenever I'm listening to a track that lacks bass for the first few measures - the song will be really loud, and then when the bass and drums come in, the song will abruptly go to half, and pretty much poorly adjust itself to the music.
It sounds awful. Is there any way to turn this effect off?

I'm using Subsonic, which doesn't really have any settings that effect the sound. I tried Google Play Music and seeing if Adapt sound was on, and it wasn't, so I'm not sure what's going on. I'm going to see if maybe my cables are going faulty or something. I might post a sample that demonstrates clearly what I'm hearing so others could pitch in. I'm an audiophile so I'm *really* picky about sound - the normal listener likely wouldn't notice what I'm talking about, but someone who's keen on audio knows exactly this effect and knows it's often turned on where it shouldn't be (like in many AVR setups).
I'm still experiencing this issue and can't find a solution. If I use the provided handset, the connection and sound seems perfect. But if I connect my phone to certain speakers using any old AUX cable, the sound volumes fluctuate and one of the channels seems to drop out depending on how the cord fits in.
My Exynos sounds good with Shures and DFX Player

I've tried 3 different aux cables, which work perfect for everything else, and I don't honestly see how another aux cord will fix anything. I'm pretty sure it's not the cord - aux cables aren't typically unreliable anyways. I think it's a poor analog "handshake" between my Note 4 and my A5's. If I plug any other phone into my A5's, or my computer, they sound great. And if I plug my phone into my receiver or the provided handset, it sounds just fine too. It's specifically when I connect my A5's to my Note 4 when it doesn't work fully.
The only new type of aux cord I would consider is one that's similar to the cord on my handset (3-ringed instead of 2). Do they make 3-ringed aux cords? That's the only thing I can imagine helping.
This dude is describing the problem I'm experiencing, but with his Note 3.
After trying the note 4 about 3 weeks...I had Xperia s before but even the time gone Sony the best of sound tech ..I installed today Walkman player ported from the new Z3 the sound get more better...try that app
As much as I hate to say it, the sound quality on note 4 is inferior to iPhone, Experia and HTC.
I have tried several scenarios and have always come to the same conclusion.

I think I have to take my phone back. My problem with doing this is that the problem seems intermittent and I might have trouble convincing the people at Sprint that I need a new phone. I think this because last time I had problems with my G3, despite me being able to reproduce the problem in front of the assistant, he basically brushed me aside as if it was unimportant and as if I should just buy their crappy overpriced headphones because they just so happen to work perfectly with the phone.
I don't get why my smartphone experience has been so poor when it comes to my speaker listening. My old crappy HTC 3D Evo worked perfectly for speaking listening (and that's a out it), but my G3 and Note 4 had been pretty weak.
Even if I did manage to convince the techies at Sprint that there's something wrong with my phone, aren't they just going to give me a refurbished phone that may not necessarily be brand new? The idea of that irks me. I'm also worried they'd charge me a deductible or something - even though I'm having a legit issue with my phone.
This is the first Android device I've ever had that has not exhibited Android's classic Bluetooth stuttering/cutout issue. I'm coming from a Note 4 that was on 5.0.1, and previously had S4, S3, HTC One M8, HTC One XL, S2, Atrix, Atrix 2, and this is a first. I've heard that maybe Google finally fixed the issue on 5.1.1, but either way, the annoying Bluetooth milliseconds cutout is gone.
If you say you didn't have the issue, you simply do not use Bluetooth or never listened at any length to render an observation. I commute 2 hours a day, at minimum, and podcasts and music would have this issue prior to the Note5. This was in multiple cars, multiple Bluetooth speakers. I'm happy to report that the issue is gone. You can bet that I will be investigating any software updates in the future to see if they reintroduce the classic bug, but I'm pleased.
Anyone else notice this has been fixed?
PS - the Note 4 community found a slight fix for this issue when II had that phone. If the screen remained on, the audio would not cut out. An FYI to Note 4 people.

I had a nightmare with my note 4 and it's bluetooth, it was awful.
I got a Note 5 and bluetooth was absolutely awful, I had to return it and got a new one and all is good. Very good bluetooth
Having bluetooth issues with my Note 5 and an my Chevy Equinox. The phone works perfectly with all my other bluetooth devices though. I think its the car but my wife's iPhone works perfectly with the car. Who knows.
I have a thread in the Troubleshooting sub-forum looking for help with my BT.
See here.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Also - OP - what carrier are you with?
I have a nexus 6 and thinking about getting a note 5 but I have never had any issues with Bluetooth on my nexus
About every 20 minutes mine chooses to disconnect from my bluetooth speaker.
I haven't had a single issue with BT yet in my car or with my speaker at home. I use both daily.
Bluetooth on this phone (A2DP streaming specifically) is fantastic. I have had problems with horrible sounding overly compressed bluetooth audio streaming in my car (old head unit, no Apt-x or anything supported) since Android switched bluetooth engines after version 4.1. All the nexus devices (I've had a few) apparently only support SBC streaming, so this leads to the horrible sounding audio with some receivers, I presume. I just returned a Nexus 6 because of this very issue. I couldn't tolerate it in the car, music sounded like garbage. This was an issue with the Note 4 when I bought it last year as well. I don't know what Samsung did on the Note 5, but BT audio sounds pretty damn good again. I'm so glad, because nobody seems to care about this issue so I had almost lost hope. Props to Samsung for improving it.
Thats great news! I was to the point of wanting to beat my Note 2 with a hammer after every bike ride with my Bluetooth headphones! - Every time I would turn my head they would cut out. I'm looking forward to trying with my new Note 5 on my ride tomorrow.
