Bootloop after update and flash of firmware - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi,
Im Matt, new to the forum. Pleased to meet you.
Im commonly known as Matt the fixer of everything, this is why I was given this Samsung Galaxy s8+ to fix. The story is, the guy updated it to the latest software update pushed to his phone. After the pushed update, the phone went into a bootloop.
The phone wont go into the options to allow me to restore, factory reset or clear cache. I can get it into download mode.
I tried a few firmwares before hitting too many errors, so decided to buy a subscription to sammobile to get the latest firmware, G955F - under the correct carrier listed on the phone XEU.
Here is the order I did things:
Open Odin 3.13.1
vol down, bixby +power - vol down to reject, then vol down, bixby + power again. (the phone wouldnt connect properly before and this worked)
Plug phone into the USB
place each file into the correct slot
Start
This would give me the progress bar, and flash with a PASS! it would take approximately 4m30
This put me into a boot loop again.
So i googled and found another option. I did the above but this time I extracted the .pit file from HOME_CSC and added that under the Pit tab and addedd the files for BL AP and CP.
Again, it successfully flashed, but again went into a continuous bootloop.
Im now stuck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. according to the phone owner the next option involves a hammer, and im not convinced thats going to help...
Kind regards
Matt

[Q] Son's phone doesnt work......

My son's Galaxy S4 has recently quit working and the following is what shows up on his screen along with a little robot icon with an open door that say's "No Command" under it.
Android system recovery<3e>
KTU84P.I337UCUFNJ4
Volume up/down to move highlight;
power button to select.
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
My son say's he has tried each of these items and has had no luck. At the bottom of the screen is the following message,
# Manual Mode #
--Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code : ATT
Successfully applied multi-CSC
Neither of us are tech types and are stumped by this. Please give some detailed directions to help a Grandpa help his son.
Use the volume up and down keys and scroll down to data factory reset and use the power button to select it then after it completes scroll down to wipe cache partition and use power key to select it after its done scroll up to reboot phone and use power key to select phone should restart and power on good luck
Well I followed the steps provided and it is just the same as when I started.
I tried it 3 times without luck.
Anyone know what else I might try?
If you can get the phone into download mode, hold volume down, home and power at the same time. You can use odin to flash the NB1 tar file in the AP slot on the new version of odin, PDA in older ones. You'll need the drivers for the phone which can be found on samsungs website. Info on how to do all that can be found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/guide-odin-to-stock-updating-rooting-t2926642 Hope you can get it working again.
Thank you for the help, I am attempting to follow your instructions now. Just have a question that may sound really dumb.
Do I need to have a simcard in the phone to do this?
This type of Tech is not my area so I really dont know.
I never tried it without a sim card but it should still work. After odin installs the new firmware, it will reboot the phone and you'll set it up just like it was new. Just make sure to follow the instructions in the thread I linked to.
No Joy......
After trying multiple times in the last few hours I still have the same screen. I downloaded the latest drivers to my pc, downloaded and installed Odin on my pc. Changed usb cables and ports and still the same screen.
It wont boot up, I cant get it to download mode, I cant get it to do anything. I think this thing is a "brick" now.
Thanks for the help folks, I appreciate it.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
That sucks you couldn't get it to work. You can take it to a samsung service center if you have a best buy near you That has one. Maybe they can get it to work. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you to.

Bricked S8s after software update.

Hi. Browsed for ages and always come here for answers.
Here's my problem.
2x S8s. SM-950f.
Updated to most recent software through software update. Both phones were glitchy and crashing and just generally irritating after.
Factory data reset etc. This did not resolve the problems, also led to one of them having issues with FRP (annoying)
Used Odin to try and flash the latest firmware (from sammobile, UK BTU) after flashing both, they reset and powered on. Got stuck at the S8 screen.
Restarted then both were at the "an error occurred during update" screen.
Managed to get back to download screen. Re checked the software and model numbers, even that the bootloader was the correct version etc. All was fine.
Connected to Odin, shows that it is connected, but nothing happens when clicking start.
Now after attempting that, both phones will not power on.
(One will when placed on the wireless charger, but just sticks at S8 screen) and download mode or reset screen can not be accessed. So, not exactly happy. And totally out of ideas
Any suggestions, beyond taking it to a shop to see if anyone can help.
yes .....dont tuch the phones for 24 hours let the battery die ...it will...connect to pc and then try download mode....u may need to press combination for like 1 minute to get to download mode....flash twrp reboot directly into it when odin says successfully .....wipe system data ....dont turn on phone download any custom rom flash and enjoy.....it will trip knox but worth than getting a new board....
Okay, will give that a try.
TWRP?
TWRP install
https://dl.twrp.me/dreamlte/twrp-3.2.3-0-dreamlte.img.tar.html: Download link for twrp SM-G950F (dreamlte)
Just said, wait until your device powers off due battery insufficience. Plug cable and hold at the same moment vol(down)+bixby+power. Then press vol(up) at the warning screen to proceed to odin mode. Let it charging a while like 1 h. Then unplug it and plug it to your pc. In Odin select ap the previous downloaded file. Take your mobile in your hand. With one hand, prepare your fingers to vol(up)+bixby and with the other hand start the flashibg process. Be careful, and take your hand directly from the mouse if you clicked start in odin, and position your one finger to power button, but dont click. If odin start pass, press immidiately the buttons (vol(up)+bixby+power) and let it to start into recovery. If you arrived to recovery, reply to us if not search for help!!!
Good luck
memreb
Still trying to get them on. Powered on to download mode but only for a couple of seconds and switched off again.

Not sure what stage your at and maybe some more useless ideas
1. Trying to flash twrp is kinda of useless if you can't get into your system need oem unlock for that.
2. Have you tried taking out Sim card and SD card and reboot.
3. If you can at least boot try smart switch as it has a emergency recovery option.
4. Trying rebooting in safe mode.
All been attempted

Newbie Mistake, Loop boot, G950FD rooted. Help!

Hi,
I've looked everywhere before writing this so please forgive me as I saw there are a number of threads similar to this but couldn't find an answer.
Have rooted the phone a few days ago and flashed the Alexis Rom Oreo2.1S9PORT. As I had several apps that where acting up (no MIcrosoft Active Sync, no Outlook notifications among other things) I made a bit of a mess of it and decided to reset the phone by erasing all contents. As I went to boot up again the phone was in loop.
It goes on download mode and have tried with ODIN to reflash AP, BL, CP, CSC read everywhere looked on youtube but Odin fails each time. I've downloaded samsung drivers and firmwares to have Samsung Oreo back but to no avail.
Could someone please give me a hand in restarting the phone somehow? It's now in loop and I will wait until it dies down from battery failure as suggested in some threads in here.
Sorry to pester you.
Newbie...:crying:
latest ODIN screenshot. I don't know what more to try...please help...

No unfortunately. NOw the phone is battery drained.
THis is the Downloading mode. I can't think of what to do unfortunately. I've tried 3 or 4 firmwares as well.
Since I deleted through the phone system reset and not through TWRP (which I've now lost obviously) what would be the best way to reflash the mod (or the original Samsung one for that matter)?
ok I thought I made some progress, I've managed to reinstall TWRP and flashed again the Rom, Rom fix, and AOD fix. I was able to check the options of the Rom and the ROm installed succesfully. As I went to reboot I got stuck again in a loop with the SAMSUNG logo flashing continuosly. I can feel I'm close to a solution, could you point me in the right direction please?
The continuosly boot-loop could be the firmware doesnt match the Rom.
If you are game, try installing Renovate Ice: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ovate-ice-g950-g955-android-7-0-aqdg-t3598040
Click the orange colored RENOVATE ICE WEBPAGE link.
From the menu choose FIRMWARE, download and flash.
Then download and flash R.Ice rom - follow the How to Flash guide

Reinstall os

Hi.
New to all this and haven't a clue due to recent circumstances.
My lad, for some unknown reason to me, decided to install team win recovery as a way of trying to clean up his galaxy s 8 phone. He's wiped the OS!! Twr starts but when pressing recovery, it says no os.
I'd never heard of it before and haven't a clue how to use it.
So, after some googling, found out the basics and as I say, when pressing recovery or install or restart, it says no os so I presume he's wiped it.
Spoke to Samsung. They say they can reinstall the is if the rom is ok? I presume it is.
Think they can fix it? I haven't a clue and looking at threads on here about installing ROMs, still gobbledegook to me!
Thanks

It seems that you're not that familiar with TWRP, and i think you wipe off your system without any idea.
Try to do these steps;
MAKE SURE TO INSTALL these drivers first to your PC or latop before proceeding.
Samsung Drivers
1. download your stock firmware using SamFirm. If you're unsure of your model, look at the back of your phone. Mine is SM-G950FD. its important that you will download your correct firmware to avoid any issues with your network bands
2. download the latest ODIN app
3. extract the downloaded stock firmware. you should be able to get the following files: BL, AP, CP, CSC
4. Extract Odin and open it (or run as admin).
5. Locate each files with corresponding file name BL, AP, CP, CSC on their respective locations. BL = BL, AP = AP, and so on. MAKE sure that you select the correct files.
6. if your phone is on boot loop (power cycling or stuck at samsung logo), force close it by pressing volume down + power button for 10 seconds. If it is not on boot loop, go to the next step
7. go to download mode by pressing volume down + bixby button + power button. you should be able to see a blue screen with text like this.
8. plug in your cable from your PC to your phone, and wait for the ID:COM to turn blue. that means you are ready.
9. press start and wait for the process to complete.
10. once your device gets booted, your're good to go with your fresh phone.
Note: Reboot may take a while. try to force close it (step 6) and reboot again.
Thanks for the advice.
I've installed and run SamFirm.
Put the model in which is smg950f. Region UK.
In 'Phone' I've put Samsung galaxy S8, I've tried Samsung, S8, Samsung S8, galaxy S8 but I get the same error: please specify PDA, CSC and phone version or use auto method.
Any help appreciated. Thanks

M30s Bricked - How to Unbrick it ? - Help !!

Hello everyone,
My m30s is bricked as well. The phone got off suddenly while operating youtube (A couple of apps were running in the background).
Phone was running Android 11 oneUi 3
I couldn't boot into recovery mode by pressing Power + Volume up button. Didn't work. Then read somewhere on XDA to press volume up and down together and enter download mode by connecting cable to pc.. I did that and successfully flashed the official Samsung firmware using Odin. Phone is still stuck on the Boot Samsung logo - powered by Android upon rebooting after Odin successful flash. I tried even entering recovery mode from download mode by pressing power+ volume down , releasing volume down after reboot and then pressing volume up for 2-3 seconds. I'm just not able to get to recovery mode at all. I just don't know what else to do now. Can someone please help me out.

Hi bro,
Kindly clarify please, my firmware files only has the above listed. No PIT file separately. Im downloading as you suggested.
Hello. The new firmware files contain the following 5 files - AP, CP, BL , CSC , HOME_CSC
Well also flash it but as you don't have tge pit file, maybe try fimding on web
Hi bro. Pit file is to be flashed how ? There is no option in odin to add that file.
Isn't there a PIT button?
Hi. Just now in the process of flashing. Found the pit button and file. Lets hope this works. Will post results once flashing done.
Hi. Flashing done successfully. Restarted automatically , now again it's not going past the Samsung logo - powered by Android screen.
Well might be hardware problem sadly
You sure of this ? Which area most likely ?
If that is the case, EMMC storage chip (Samsung was infamous of that with their S3 sudden death syndrome).
Well even if you have only software issue, something is blocking you from installing stock rom and as you does not have OEM unlocked, you can it flash a custom rom, so it is bad.
Ok.btw phone does not switch on while pressing only power button and volume down button or simply even power button. Happened yesterday as well. I have to put it to charge for a while and then again after an hour or so it automatically starts with a vibration and gets stuck on the Samsung boot logo - powered by Android. Any clue here whats happening ?

As a last resort replace the battery.
Hi. I opened the back panel. Heated the cpu for a while. It started, went to the single samsung logo screen and then restarted and went back to the boot logo. For a while android had loaded something with a loading screen indicator as well. Now back to square one.
Well you heated the CPU? Try slightly pressing on it while heated
