[Q] What does swiping away an app from the recent apps actually do?

I was looking for an answer about this question on the internet, but I could onfly find contradictionary answers, no one knew exactly wheter it just disappears from the recent app drawer, or the app gets killed.
I've noticed that some apps seem to actually close, but some apps seem to be still running after I swipe them away.
So what does swiping away actually do, does it have any good use?
Whenever I've tried it, it has killed the app (app completely disappears from the "adb shell ps" list until it is reopened).
I haven't looked at the code so it's entirely possible that this doesn't happen in every case. Especially if the app is running a bound service that some other process is connected to.

Pop-Up ads appearing on home screen and over apps

Since yesterday I've been getting ads that pop up over any and every app when I start them.
I've had this happen from an app I installed once before and uninstalling fixed it, but this time I tried uninstalling everything I've installed or updated in the past 2 weeks but they still keep popping up.
And none of the ad detectors can find these type of ads so does anyone know how to track the source?
Also this is the app I had and removed months ago that gave same problems https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=game.gles.rubikcube
Some apps running in the background causes this. Uninstall all the free app or cracked apps from your phone
I've uninstalled everything from 2 weeks before it started, and it isn't just cracked apps that cause it like you'll see by looking at the comments of the app I linked to.
So I need a way to find the app or process to find it.

You can try this:
- Install Shortcut Master app.
- Open Menu > Capture Shortcut. Here you can select 'Manually capture' and 'Auto capture', which one is suitable for you.
That way you can capture the shortcut when the ads appear. You can also know which app that the ads belong to.
i have the same problem, when i unlock th phone appear chrome window with ads, or suddenly a window over any aplication that i use inthat moment.
dam.
Samsung is adding support for ad blocking to its browser app on Android.
News detail
The first content blocker available for Samsung's Internet is Adblock Fast, which is also available for iOS and Chrome and Opera on the desktop.

tracker.tpc.re floating ad?

So,
Yesterday I got this banner ad towards the bottom of the screen. It has an "opt out" tab at the bottom right. You click on this and it loads a web page that prompts you to install an app, use it then delete the app. Obviously didn't download the app.
Anyone else having this? Here's a pic.
This will be coming from an app you have installed. Check the apps you recently installed, it will be one of them.
Yeah, problem is I've been quite busy installing lately!
I've installed adguard and I think it may have worked. Ad popped up, but not filled in, then disappeared.
Score!
Try installing AirPush Detector. This can uually detect which apps are pushing out ads.
Well, airpush stops halfway through. Sent a report log to the developer. Maybe they can figure out.
Try Addons Detector. This also helps to find apps that are pushing ads.
Just press scan. After the scan, select 'Addons' and choose "Push Notifications" from the drop down (though I believe it is selected by dault)
Thank you. I've never had this problem, so I've never looked into these types of apps.
solved on my wife's samsung galaxy A5 2016
i clicked on one of the ads and a web page for the advertiser opened in a built-in in-app browser. i then pressed the application switcher button and it showed that the page had opened in an app called file manager.
i uninstalled file manager and then wiped application cache (turn phone off; then turn on by holding in power button + home button + volume up, when phone vibrates release power key but keep volume up and home key depressed).
note that adds ons detector nor airpush detector yielded positive results.
note that my wife is fairly (she says 99% sure) she did not install the file manager app - it most likely updated (theory). we both suspect the app came pre-installed on the phone. i was using the file manager app to browse her files and it seemed fairly legit as an app - it worked as one expects a file manager app to work.
note her phone is not rooted.
solved

I had the same problem...... tried everything but didn't get any results. I uninstalled "Bluetooth app sender" and everything was back to normal. No more floating ads.

Screen overlay???

So I got a replacement phone today. I can't use most of my downloaded apps. It says I have to turn off screen overlay.
It keeps telling me to change my settings. Ugh. I've Googled advice and I keep reading things about disabling lux for example but I don't have that app..
I've also read if I go into my app manager and click on more it should allow me to "draw over" and this isn't an option on my phone..

It's a message from latest security policy from Google. It was introduced in latest update.
When you open an app and this app asks for any kind of permission like access contact, storage or location, you have to make sure that there is no app running on top of everything. This is for your security because this app can answer for you without your permission.
Example: if you have a Messenger chat head open on top of the screen, Google will not let you answer if other application asks for permission. In this case just close the chat head.

A search may have resulted in a thread only a page back about the same problem.

Google as Home Button only works until you clear all apps running in the background

I have disabled HiVoice app which was using the home button using tool called Debloater! Now I am having a problem with my Huawei Honor Note 8 where I have given all permissions to Google app to act as my home button which works with the app or settings page opened but after I clear apps in the background it ceases to work until I go into Settings and disable and renable it from the Assist (changing what holding home button does). It will do the same again after clearing apps. Endless repeat. Is there a solution to this
I don't know who's bright idea it was at Huawei but clearing the running apps kills so many background processes too. Even protected processes get killed so I NEVER do that on this phone. It messes up so many notifications & running apps for me. It's one of the few things I absolutely hate about this phone. But again if you just never do it... it's kinda normal again.
I have never seen such bad management. I have resorted to keeping Facebook Messenger and Google in my recent apps list and never using kill button. This is very inconvenient. I can't forgive Huawei for doing this. Why won't they let us delete Phone Managed app even using Debloater doesn't recognise the app. This kills battery life by havinf the apps opened in recent app view. Seriously! Huawei I won't buy another phone until this is fixed. Will we be getting Nougat, this doesn't seem to be a popular phone online
It's one of the reasons I can't wait for a stock rom!
I'm going to wait until Nougat EMUI rom or Stock Nougat. I don't want to go backwards.
anyone that can help. I have gave it drop zone permission, autostart permission, trust app with all permissions and app secondary launch. nothing works!
