Fingerprint deletes itself after upgrade to Pie - Nokia 5 Questions & Answers

I have a Nokia 5 dual Sim. After the Upgrade to Pie my fingerprint deletes itself, my best guess is that the system deletes it to save storage. It does it unregulary so i dont know if it is true. I have 16GB ROM and other 16GB of SD memory. 94% or 30.17GB of 32GB are used. If someone maybe has the same problem or a solution to this problem or guesses what it could be he can post the anwsers in here.

I have this problem when I flash any magisk module and do a restart then either the FP data is lost or I have to add a new one of unregistered fingers to enable all that gets
deactivated
But it doesn't occur in Oreo
Weird!!

I've noticed that after a Google security patch update installation, the fingerprints get deleted.
I think this is for security purposes, or the update was directly linked to the fingerprint api

That's fine then! But i have another question that many users faced the issue or memory card being corrupted or unreadable after using it as internal storage. That's why I was a bit afraid to do so. Do you have any kind of problem??

No i didn't had any problems. Maybe if u set the SD card up as internal Storage it will probably tell you that it is too slow, but you can ignore that. Things u will notice are:
Afer Booting the phone up, some icons are grey, that means they still need to load the application. But after a few seconds they work.
If some application are too slow just move them from the SD to the actual internal storage. Here is how to do it: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/move-android-apps-to-sd-card,news-21279.html

[Q] not enough storage space

i flashed WP7 today, everything went smoothly, and it seems nice and fast but it keeps popping up a message sayng that i don't have enough storage space and that i should delete some music/photos. obviously there's not much to delete so i assume that I'm either doing something wrong or the current build that's available out there can't access all the storage it should have been able to..
any ideas?
Connect your phone and start zune. In setting of zune, click phone, and in a sub setting there will be one called reserved space. Go on it, and you'll see a bar where you can increase or decrease space on your phone for apps and stuff.
great. will try this. thanks!
I have the same issue - Zune tells me that 83MB of memory is available, and 0MB is free. I have a 2GB card in the phone, so I suspect it's not picking it up. I hadn't formatted the card or anything, so perhaps I missed a step towards making it work..?
I figured it out - the first time I'd booted into WP7, I took the SD card out since it seemed to cause MAGLDR to attempt to boot into an old Android port. It seems WP7 will only use an SD card if it was present on the first boot. Reinstalling WP7 and keeping the SD card in for the first boot seemed to do the trick!
I don't know if there is an easier way to tell WP7 to detect an SD card, but this worked for me. Of course, it does involve resetting everything all over again, but at least the activation code works the second time too!

Have you format your microSd before flashing?
point to setting->About
Reset Your phone and waiting phone restart.
Connect to Zune and check your storage spaces.
I did it and have more than 1GB free spaces with 2GB microsd card.
Hope this help!
I tried it still not workiing I took out the SD cards and formatted it still its not working.
Removed
reset
Had the same problem... , solved!
Went to settings - about - reset phone.
Ok, you need setup everything again, but I now have far more than 3gb on a 4gb sd-card.
Hope this will help you!

I had the problem of the phone running out of storage space. (without using an sd card)
It is a very simple and quick fix.
All you need to do is:
1. Sync with Zune
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on Reserved Space
4. By default its set to 0% - increase it to at least 50%.
(This reserved space is for your emails, pictures, music, texts etc i believe)
5. Restart your phone.
You can check the amount of space on your phone by going to
On your phone click on
1. Settings
2. About
I hope this helps.
You will then have available storage.

I tried it like 2 times still it didnt work
in setting/about: it says..520 mb available (on 1gb card)...but zune doesnot see this even after changing the reserve space setting
tried everything still my avaliable space showing up is around 175 mb on a 2gb card . Even when I take out the card it showing the same amount of space I am pretty sure my card is working and I even increased the reserve space on the zune software.
any news on this? same problem here . I've tried both my 16GB SDHC that came with the phone and my 2GB. neither are recognized by the phone. I've tried allocating more reserve space but to no avail. This is what Im seeing after doing the registry modifications (with or without an SD card inserted on the phone.)
thank you very much... i got it finally......
i formatted my 8gb micro sd card on my comp before flashing.
then i flashed wp7 while i kept the sd card inside the phone.
it didnt format my sd card during flashing. i still have 6.3gb space when i check the space in wp7
ok, it was reported that for zune to work, you need atleast a 4gigs space...will try with bigger card

6.0 update external storage?

Ater I update to 6.0 and the external sd card is formated that means I will lose all the apps and games I have already moved to the ext car correct? Because there is still data on the internal storage of those apps and games will the apps and games automatically download again or will I have to download each one myself?
Yes, it will format your SD and put an encryption key on it. You won't be able to use the SD on any other machine except for the one that formatted it.

Formatting a memory card will delete everything on it. Backup the existing data and then copy it back on after the format process. But, you'll have to use the device to copy because the card will be encrypted.
I think the interesting question, which also I don't know an answer to, is this:

You have to do it manually. Android doesn't know which apps you want on the Ext-SD or the internal storage.
The safest way to do this would seem to be:
-uninstall all apps currently on SD
-reinstall after SD format
If you want to preserve any other type of existing data, back it up somewhere else, then re-copy back onto the SD.

There is no need to uninstall apps on SD.
There will be a persistent notification that asks if you want to forget the SD Card (that you had earlier formatted it as Internal i.e. Adopted Storage).
If you confirm, the encryption key will be deleted from the phone, and apps stored on MicroSD won't be readable by your phone or any other device.
The question: if automatic downloading of apps will occur has been answered above by Neo3D.
And when the external sd stop working, the system crash ?

Apps on SD Card

I loved Stock Android around when KitKat was out, but I came to hate it when Lollipop came out. I decided to get the Moto X and try out Marshmallow, but I'm already running into problems with/hating Google's (and Motorola's) oversimplified features.
Usually when I get a phone a put in an SD card so I can store some apps and data on there, as well as music, pictures, files, etc. that has been on the card for years. I pop in the SD card to the 16 gig phone ready to move Spotify and some other apps to the card, but then I run into that whole "format as internal storage. It says that formatting it will wipe the card (obviously), but it also says once I do I will only be able to use the SD card with this device, and when I asked a friend for help, she said I wouldn't be able to transfer data from the card anymore either.
I started searching everywhere on the internet for a workaround, but I can't find anything. Is there any workaround with this? I'm already rooted and on a ROM so I'm open to any suggestions. If not I'm just going to sell the phone or downgrade to lollipop.
Which version of twrp are you using ?
You need to make sure you have this version of twrp.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3200520
Prior to this version, twrp was broke in regards to the new adaptable storage that came in Android M, then finally a few weeks ago, 3.0.0 came out, fixed that, and also a few other things. I can not use the combined/adaptable storage feature in Marshmallow like it was intended. To be honest, it was the major reason I got this phone and bought the 16gb version. Its all good now tho.

The problem is Marshmallow wants me to format my SD card as internal storage just to store apps on it, and I am trying to find a way to store apps on there without formating it, as I've been doing with all previous Android versions.
I don't get why you wouldn't want to use the adaptable storage option. What's wrong with backing ur sd up to pc, format as internal(adaptable storage? , and then copy back from pc. If I'm missing something, my bad.
Otherwise,
Pretty sure there isn't way to do what you want on 6.0... But again, I don't know what you are actually losing out on other than having to back the card 1st, format, and copy back. A small hassle

I don't want to use the adaptable storage because I will only be able to use the SD card with this phone and I won't be able to transfer data from it either.
This is a problem because I currently use the SD card between two phones, as a makeshift flash drive, and as storage for my DSLR so I can edit photos with my phone.
I went through this whole ordeal myself recently.
You can't have it both ways. I chose to format my card as portable storage so it will remain readable in any card reader. The draw back is apps can't be stored on it, nor most app data.
To work around this i'm making every app a system app. This will alleviate some of the burden of the internal storage. Some apps will just not work as system apps. I think swype is one example.
Some apps will require their .lib to be placed in the appropriate lib folder under system (lib or lib64 for 64bit binaries). Google maps and hangouts are two examples that come to mind. You'll know if you need this if the app crashes when starting.
The ideal solution is to have a phone with at least 32GB storage or more. This becomes a non issue then.
Yeah, Motorola removed the Move to SD card feature in favor of "the richer experience natively provided by Android."
I think you can use TWRP "Partition SD Card" to create 2 partitions on the SD, though... a FAT32 partition to share with your other devices and an EXT4 partition that you can use to store apps. You'll need an android app like Mounts2SD to copy apps to/from the external storage.
The other option is to downgrade to 5.1.1 or use a 6.0 ROM that still has the old Move to SD card feature. I'm not sure if there are any, though.

To the op Sorry man, I didn't really know all this. But this post seems to explain it pretty well. Looks like you may have to sell or downgrade. That sucks.
As far as this specific post is concerned, I'm trying to follow my best. As you said, best would be to buy at least at 32gb well some, including me have already bought a 16gb, unfortunately. Personally, iv chose to use adaptable now that twrp 3.0 is out. When i Install apps, wherever they go is where they go. After seeing this thread, I'm thinking maybe there is way to do things a different way to save some space. I went ahead and went into apps and tried moving Spotify from internal to SD card. but after I did this, I noticed every time I close the app it signs me out lol wth... that's a problem. I didn't know why it was doing that. Is this an example of an app not being able to run correctly on the SD rather than internal? Also, i tried moving maps from internal to sd, seemed to be running fine, but shortly after, i noticed on a reboot, it somehow uninstsalls. Its gone as if i uninstalled it manually but i obv did not. Like what? How is this even possible. I wanted to give you a few examples of what i tried and what was happening. But I asked myself why am I even doing this, is it to save space? If it is, that's fine.
But yeah man, it seems you know more than me about this , that's safe to say. But based on what iv written here, can you give me some advice on things to do if I'm using the adaptable storage option. Should I be moving apps? Why? Which ones? Or just leave things as is? Again i have a 16gb model with a 32gb card running adaptable storage. If there are ways to save space by moving apps certain places I'm fine with that. I'd just like to get your opinion on what exactly I should be doing based on the model I have, size card, and running adaptable storage. Hey sorry too bother you about this. I had noticed you replied to the op of this topic and you know what you are talking about.
And to the op, sorry if iv hijacked your post man.
Peace

Yeah I should have gotten the 32gb version, although it's kind of my fault because I already had a negative opinion of post-kitkat stock Android yet I got the device anyways. Maybe I can resell the device on swappa and get a 32gb version instead of buying a new one, mainly because the only two phones of the 2015 generation I have interest in is the Moto X Pure and the One M9. Worst case scenario is settling for Samsung (as oneplus said, never settle)
To make matters worst, I temporarily moved all the data to my computer and formated the SD card as internal as a test, only to find out the two apps I put on there don't want to act properly because the SD card is too slow (which is why the feature shouldn't even be here in the first place).

If I do do one of those options it would most likely be the second one because last time I messed with partitions on an SD card I, somehow, bricked the phone. I could look for a tutorial somewhere, but this phone's XDA forums is relatively quiet compared to other phones I've had (especially Android development).
@Sheetzie03, I can't help you with adoptable space as it's not something I have much experience with. It could be spotify relies on other components which are not accessible when on the sd.

Disappearing microSD

Hi, I recently stumbled upon an unpleasant issue. I got xt1562 (stock 6.0.1 EU, no root, no cwm) and sandisk ultra 64gb. Sometimes (I fail to identify the source of issue) the memory card just disappears and the phone doesn't see it. Since the card is formatted as internal, i cannot take even pictures or download anything via browser. SolidExplorer doesn't see it in the list of storage as well. Restarting the phone or replugging the tray helps for an uncertain amount of time, the card becomes visible and then disappears again. I looked for obvious answers, but it is something special (not mentioned here or in google to my best knowledge).
Does anyone know how to solve the issue? I would appreciate any comments as well.
Thanks.
I had this same problem, but it solved by itself.
for this particular reason I stopped using the memory card as internal storage.

I had the same disappearing issues before but since I did a slow format in Windows, the problem seems to go away. Never had any disconnect or disappearing issues again until now.

I'm getting exactly the same issue. I'm using a 128gb card formatted as portable storage (exFAT ). I know when the issue starts because taking a picture with the stock camera app causes it to crash, and spotify complains about there being no access to storage. The card is being detected by other apps and Androids built in file explorer. I have to restart the device to cure the issue.
I have the same issue since updating from 6.0 stock to 6.0.1 stock.
What changed? There must be a reason for this behaviour.
Same issue here too after updating to 6.0.1 ota. Have to restart for it to fix itself. I'm beginning to think it might be linked with charging but not certain yet.
Searching the net it seems that Samsung users are on 6.0.1 are having the same issues. Google must be aware by now.
I fixed it with a different kernel.

Optimus --> works

Well, stock ist stock.
After updating to 6.0.1 I had no dismounts with stock kernel, but I didn't use it very long.
I flashed Phoenix kernel which resulted in lots of dismounts, this was fixed by Optimus Kernel for me.
I used to be have the same problem with a Sandisk Ultra 128GB.
I need to backup all files in windows and format it to back to normal.
This problem appears every 30-40 days after formatted.
The problem was finally solved by buying a new sd card (samsung pro).
Well, I was too fast reporting it fixed.
I still get unmounts. Not that often but it ain't fixed.
Never had a single unmount with 6.0.
Actually thinking of going back as this sucks balls.

I tried formatting my card back to exFAT. The dismounts were as much as every 10 minutes. I have now formatted the card back to FAT32, of which i had more stability, but this time I have started fresh with a completely empty card. Formatted in gparted then straight into the Moto. See how this goes.!!
Me too had similar issue after the latest ota update.
Everytime When I connect phn to PC via cable SD card disappears. SD card will not show in PC and phn. I need to restart phn to get it back. I'm using SD card as portable.
1st I formated the phn. But still the problem occurs
2nd I formated SD through PC. Result was successful. Now the card is OK not disappears while connecting to pc
This is the exact same issue I had since stock lollipop. I updated it to 6.0 since I though that this was the reason, It worked for half a day before it stopped and even on 6.1 it doesn't work.
For the record I also have Sandisk 128 gbs class 10. The only message I get is "Corrupted SanDisk SD Card”.
Some solved this problem with slow format option on PC.

SInce my last post, I have formatted the card as external. It worked fine until i filled it up to 10gb (out of 64gb). Now I have exactly the same issue. Does anyone know how to let Google, Morotola know about it? Is it covered by any guarantee? I start thinking that I am back to 2007 with first android versions

Samsung galaxy J5 memory full

I have troubles with J5, because it has 8Gb memory and official rom takes about 5.5Gb of rom so the rest is full almost imediatelly with 3 extra apps.
So I have rooted phone and put in external SD 32Gb and format is as internal memory, but still get notification all the time that storage is full.
I tried all custom roms here but none works, so I have installed official rom back.
Is there a way to do something to release that internal storage memory?

This this [Module] Magic Folder Binder (requires magisk)

Basically whats that modules does is to mount folders on your external SDcard on internal memory, so you can move your app data to your SDcard and use it as normal.
Any questions ask on module thread.

Thanks, I already formated SD card as internal memmory and moved all apps which can be moved, but basically none of google apps can be moved and that is a problem.
Also don't know what fills up memmory, because fresh installed rom have 5.5Gb and phone fills up in one month to 8Gb.
Some light room will be good but I tried all and nothing works.
Is there a way to remove google apps which usually can not be removed?
