Android Q beta is live. links inside. - Google Pixel XL Guides, News, & Discussion

Android Q beta has been live for more than 24 hours now. So it's time to enroll ( https://www.google.com/android/beta ) and get your beta on. And hopefully the awesome devs we have still sticking with us on the original pixel XL will help us out with all things "root". I haven't tried it out myself but as soon as I'm done writing this I will and I'll also try rooting with Magisk and try fastbooting TWRP and hopefully if everything goes good I'll be back shortly to let you know if I was able to gain root and/or TWRP.
Just enroll in the developers beta program, if you haven't already, and you'll soon get a notification that there's an update ready to download and install. I'm pretty sure you'll have to have the stock recovery installed. I don't know about being unrooted or not. But I intend on trying the OTA with TWRP installed and rooted first and if no success..... I will fastboot the stock recovery then try again while still rooted. And if no success then I guess fastboot back to stock out the box and try again.
Link below.
https://www.google.com/android/beta

Oh and by the way the update is 975 mb.

Any one tried yet

I'm on it now. I took the OTA while I was on stock rooted android pie with TWRP. I'm now on Android Q no root and have not checked to see if I have TWRP. But I'd be willing to bet I don't. From the looks of it, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot different. The theme options have been moved to the "developer options " tab. As well as there are now different colors in the themes than we had choice of before. It as far as I can tell it's not as big a difference as there was from ice cream sandwich to jelly Bean. Or KitKat to lollipop. The Easter egg seems to be the same as PIE. So if you like drawing and slowly watching it fade away I guess you'll be stoked about that. I was hoping the Easter egg would be feeding the cat again. I know she's got to be starving. I havent fed her in years. LMAO. And from what I read earlier it may be a while till we will have root due to the system being structured completely different. But so far 30 mins in to it.... It seems smooth steady and normal. Not alot of change.

Here's a screenshot. "Request permission" toast looks a little different too...

Been using q since last night and it's very stable for a beta there's some small things to option out but works good

this means that if we will see Android Q, in the XL pixel version final

Couldn't we do like the old days and edit the OTA with wordpad on a PC to take out the "ota-wipe=yes" to keep it from wiping our device? I've never edited an OTA but we used to do that to the full Google flash files that would take you back to stock. And do we really need to flash the downgrade OTA to go back or can we just flash another rom or backup? Seems like on the Nexus 6p we didn't have to flash a specific Google built OTA to revert back? Seems like we used to be able to just restore a backup. I think I've even done that on this phone as well.

Been running this for about 20 hours. I have dark mode enabled and bars hidden. I have had to side load ticwatch apps. But everything seems stable. Really like the new looks and I feel like I am closer to not needing root. Adaway is my only miss so far. I checked out the desktop mode thing. Bluetooth seems to work well with my headphones. /super happy XL is still valid.

Modifying OTA packages invalides them due to size and signature checks.
You don't need to use this OTA at all. It has very little use. You can unlock your bootloader and flash the images instead. This OTA just allows anyone to downgrade without having to unlock the bootloader.

Hey y'all! And thanks for the insight, tweaked. Usually I'd be right there with you but I'm still hesitant because root doesn't work. In my case, it's AdAway too, as well as YouTube Vanced and Viper via Magisk Modules that I'd be missing mostly. I might be okay without the latter ones but I honestly don't want to use any device without proper adblocking.
So my question to everyone here is, and I'm sorry if anyone thinks this is off topic... Is there any good alternative for real adblocking without root nowadays?

I been reading and there seem to be a few that create this VPN thing on your phone. /blah... I read that root works or the Pixel and XL and 2. Just not on the 3 due to the partition change. I however can say that magisk 16 - 18.1 does not work. :/

Yes, Android Pie made it super easy because it added Private DNS! Just input Adguard DNS server to Private DNS setting:
dns.adguard.com

Guys, I've made the update after enroll the beta using the full it's, but after update some apps didn't work at all, like Waze, Gmail, etc. Did anyone had a similar problem?!? I had to flash pie again and restore the data partition from a nand backup. For the time, I'm out.

Disadvantages of rooting?

Hi there, I'm no new to development, but haven't played with a phone in a while.
Can someone please tell me what the disadvantages of rooting the Nexus 6p are?
My plan is to get root access only to use specific apps (eg greenify) but not to install a new ROM, i.e. I'll stay with stock.
Does this affect:
-Applicability of OTA updates from Google
-ability to use the fingerprint reader
-warranty claims
-speed/stability of the device?
Thanks in advance!

-OTA are not possible when rooted. You have to flash back stock boot.img and recovery.img to accept an OTA.
-It does not interfere with Nexus Imprint (Fingerprint reader.)
-Does not affect speed or stability
-Warranty is not affected because you can flash stock imgs and relock bootloader.
You can take OTA's if you do the systemless-root. I believe you would have to flash the recovery back to stock, though.
I think you have to flash boot as well since it's modified.
the biggest disadvantage is your device become instantly awesome, so if you are used to being annoyed about the stock OS missing features this is hard to deal with
But honestly the best thing about owning a nexus is you can root and easily go back to stock if you change your mind. The flash images are also easily available for updates (even before the OTA is out). So play with it, and worst case you can always restore back to stock.
currently my only disadvantage to me is loosing android pay...
yea i know i can make it work if i delete /su/xbin... but i feel like its there for a reason and i shouldnt be deleting it.

Supersu 2.61 does systemless root ootb. No need to delete anything. Systemless root will just work and Android Pay will just work.

i have been using systemless root since v 2.61... im using 2.66 now
and android pay didnt work, and even wont pass safetynet test
delete the /su/xbin folder and it passes safetynet and android pay works...
so yes, for me it sucks that i have delete that to make AP to work... which is why for now i am giving up AP since i dont feel comfortable deleting xbin and breaking stuff
Mine passes safetynet test and is just systemless with nothing deleted. No Android Pay in the UK to test it with though.
Not being awesome.

Can I use Xposed with systemless root?
Thanks for the replies everyone - that was very helpful. I've gone ahead and installed three sustemless root, and installed xposed too, leaving the rom itself untouched as stock.
However, my system is disappointingly buggy. Apps keep crashing. Is this common? I thought this was supposed to be a stable/safe thing to do!

lol this seems to happen when you root and install Xposed or pretty much modify anything. Usually I see a decrease in stability and battery life but an increase in performance, and you get to play with new features early.
I'm contemplating rooting just to use the new launcher.

You have a couple of things going on.
First root IS as safe as you let it be. If you haven't installed any root applications it should not be any more buggy than stock.
You have installed Xposed. You have not mentioned what modules you have.
I don't have any issues you describe but I don't have a lot of modules installed.
I am stock with Xposed and root.

Pokemon Go with Fake GPS on the S5 Verizon

Hi,
I bought a used a Verizon S5 hoping to play PoGo using Fake GPS. But I am unable to select a Fake GPS app in Settings. I am currently on 5.0 (version ending in BPB1) and checking for software updates on the phone fails. Presumably because I do not have a SIM in the phone as I would like to continue to use my iPhone. The S5 would be only on Wifi (or iPhone's hotspot) and used only to play PoGo.
I have read through (most of) the painiac's (excellent) guide and I am trying to decide what to do next:
1. Try to install marshmallow update (no root) and see if the option to select the fake GPS appears in settings
2. Root the phone and try several custom ROM's to see if the option appears
3. Sell the phone back and try another phone
I have flashed custom ROM's with older Android phones some 3 years ago. Modding scene has considerably changed since then and I find myself reading warnings and seeing dead ends (permanently locked bootloaders etc) everywhere. Any advice would be appreciated.
Let me rephrase the question. I can update to marshmallow 6.0 with images available on the internet. I will lose the ability to root the phone. But I may be able to run fake gps and play pokemon go.
Or I can try rooting it and then installing xposed or other frameworks to get the set up on lollipop 5.0 - which is root-able.
Which would be the recommended way for someone like me with mediocre android hacking skills and very little time?
Thanks.
Marshmallow will give you the option to make Fake GPS the default mock application.
However, Pokemon Go will not run on rooted devices unless you know of a workaround for that.

you've come to the right person asking this stuff lol I used to cover all that stuff daily on my yt channel. gained 2400 subs in 3 weeks due to posting my vids on other sites that allowed pogo hacks to be posted. was doing 3-4 vids a day.
AOSP based roms will not work on Pokemon Go. That leaves out anything like Cyanogenmod or anything compiled from it.
The only way i got POGO to work on my spare s5 (i use it for testing) was to flash back stock NI2, re-root with towel root, flash a TouchWiz based rom with SafeStrap, then delete the Root binary and anything SU related, basically unrooting my rom and backing it up manually and only putting em back when it was needed
There's probably better ways now, but for me this worked 100%
POGO isn't worth the effort in my opinion.

Thanks so much. I am currently not rooted and when I go to MM I cannot be rooted from what I understand. So I think I will do the upgrade when I have some time. I will lose the ability to root but I can live with that.

I agree on the effort comment, but I am not sure why you are rooting the device if it does not work on rooted devices? Wouldn't it be a lot easier to stay un-rooted and keep it simple and stupid?
Also, can anyone point me to a legit MM stock ROM? I have downloaded ODIN but I am nervous about the sketchy websites needing registration for downloading the ROM image. I need stock un-rooted Verizon ROM so I was thinking it should be easy to find. However I am not having much luck on the Googles.
Using Magisk 10.2 and the root bundled with it works. You just have to use Magisk hide which is now bundled with magisk.
I'm on vzw s5 running phoenix rom with root. Can still play pogo. No luck on xposed though.
Just a quick update. I got all the things in place for updating the phone to Marshmallow 6.0 and connected the phone to the computer for the first time. The phone gave me messages about installing software update agent and I followed the instructions. It offered to install the marshmallow update from verizon and I took that offer.
After the update, the option to select a GPS app showed up on the phone. I selected my installed app and almost everything works on pokemon go now.
I say almost because PoGo still jumps back to home location for a short second from time to time. But from what I can tell, the fix needs root. So I'll just leave good enough alone for now.
Thanks for all the help.

Anyone know how to get fake gps working on iphone full process please and stable working. I need to know full method which includes what jailbreak is best, what iphone versions are best and easy to do. Also how to disable or turn off mock location detection. [GUIDE][addison] SETUP Moto z play XT1635-02 : from stock 6.0 to custom ROM.

I have the habit of always asking on a new device no matter how much I think I know!
I have an xt1635-02 (I am US ATT Prepaid)(nano SIM) supposedly here tomorrow so I've been reading tons here.
However, it seems that a lot of the threads are aimed at rooting stock, which I never do.
As a rule, it's trivial:
[!] In this case it seems best to OTA update stock to 7.1.1 if it isn't already. I believe bootloader must be 7.x.x for doing custom Oreo ROMs . Since mine was 6.0 it took about 8 updates OTA and maybe 2 hours(wifi) .
[!]I go to moto site and do the unlock bootloader dance (already carrier unlocked supposedly).
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
[!]Then flash twrp-3.2.1-0-addison.img (Alberto97) using fastboot on my PC. (Ubuntu 17.10 dev 18.04 with adb and fastboot)(dual boot win7)
I do this twice in a row as I have experienced it not working the first time (dead android LOL).(OCD much??? )
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...recovery-unofficial-twrp-moto-z-play-t3495629
- - -
[!] -->then flash Alberto's verity patch mentioned at the top of his TWRP thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...recovery-unofficial-twrp-moto-z-play-t3495629
This modifies stock. Else your backups of stock won't boot. Learned this the hard way!
- - -
[!]Then use TWRP to backup (default settings) stock a couple of times and put copies of both on PC (via USB on stock).(or if for some reason my USB-C doesn't work, via wifi to my router using filezilla FTP and phone app: "wifi file transfer" by "DNL Media UG"(needs permission storage=on..) - I had to redo this twice - redo this twice - kept dropping back to stock recovery.
[!]Then flash the boot logo using fastboot on PC - I usually use TWRP for this but these that I found here are not set up to be TWRP flash compat so will just remove bin from zip and flash using PC. I think I have about 4 possibilities that I found on these threads. Nice! Easy.
[!]Then boot to TWRP and flash Alberto97's AOSP 8.1 arm64 ROM. Why that ROM you may ask. Been using mainly that Alberto97 ROM on my Moto G3 (32bit version of course), and love it. There's plenty of time to try all the others!!!
I usually consider 2 root options; SuperSU 2.82-SR5, or majisk 1520. (for future readers, these are the latest at this time.)(besides I'm very used to them.)
With SuperSU I have had no probs wiping all 4(Dalvik/ART, system, data, cache), flash ROM, flash 8.1 gapps, flash SUperSU, and boot to install.
With majisk I have sometimes had troubles during install if I flash majisk in the first batch so I tend to wipe all 4, flash ROM and gapps, and boot to install. Then when I finally hit desktop, boot back to TWRP and flash 1520 and reboot.
I need root to use TBPro - no restoring on first time with this 64bit ROM- got to do it the hard way!
SO I believe that's it, but if anyone sees a flaw or problem in there, I would appreciate your help.
Thanks!!!
yep look right, i would have added backup EFS and Modem partitions, if you want to be completely safe.
For now, open gapps 8.1 are only unofficial, i would feel a bit unsecure to use that, but it's only me.

Merci! Many thanks for looking in!!!
Yes, forgot to add that - did much xda search on the efs thing and best I found seemed to be a twrp-3.1.1-0-EFS-addison.img which I may very well flash first and do that since no other TWRP that I looked at offers backup efs. Official and squid2 derived (G3) don't. I assume Alberto's doesn't. Seems like I did it very manually on the G3. If you have it it's a pretty good guarantee that you'll never need it! (Murphy axiom)
As to unofficial gapps, I've been testing about 5 different 8.1 ROMs on the Moto G3 over the past couple months and if the gapps aren't built in to the ROM(some pixelexperience roms), all you can get is an unofficial gapps, or do a minor simple hack to an 8.0 so it will accept it. Usually devs will include it. Bless Alberto97 for not including it so I can select my own!!! But I've had no prob with gapps. Open gapps project has 8.0, but of course they won't work on a true 8.1 unless minor hack. I was planning on using open_gapps-arm64-8.1-aroma-20180109-UNOFFICIAL.zip (from https://cloud.kenzoroms.club/?dir=opengapps) unless you have a better idea. I wanted to grab camera from aroma(somebody's idea), but I also have about 5 other cameras and gcams waiting on the Sdcard that I want to test, simply because there seemed to be disagreement on what works on Alberto's new 8.1 build, so wanted to be able to report.
Thanks again!

Thanks for great link! yeah I think I used adb as well as an app last time. I'll add recovery this time so that's 3 backups on internal storage (and copied to PC) should be enough! (yes dear readers I am serious about this - 3 times! They are so tiny! And that pretty much guarantees I'll never need it, but if I do, it's childs play to get it back.)
Thanks!!!
If you're wondering about the delay, they sent me a -01 (Droid)(Murphy's law), so they paid for a UPS next day air label back to them(mailed at 4PM) - don't know if I'll get this going before Sat! Oh well!!! Never take these things too seriously!!! Gotta be costing them a chunk! I did briefly turn it on and stuck the SIM in it and it did show LTE on my ATT, but there's a few bands missing that are on the -02, so will wait. Pretty display, though!!! Really looking forward to it!!!

Good plan on sending it back. You would have been SOL trying to root the -01

yes. stock 8.x is a no-no. This one that is coming is 6.0.1 So I will let it ota update to 7.1.1 after giving it a thorough check-out, then try unlocking it, etc. Sound right? I have no interest in any of the hardware-type addons, just the plain phone 3/32 octacore etc. Why this one? - I love the reception (radio) strength of Motos, plus a ton of other things. I stick with them. Plus it's all Albeto97's fault for deving on AOSP 8.1
Lol Alberto97's roms are buttery smooth!

I think they are. He recently came out with an 8.1 AOSP version for the Moto G3 and I love it. I test others, but that's my daily driver. Sure not perfect, but quite good enough for me!!! So I figure when I get it (Tues?) that's what I'll put on it. There's always plenty of time to test others!
Okay, since I am waiting for phone (Tues) , obviously I am worried about "what-if"s and so researching on what to do, "if".
I succeeded in finding a nice zip for 7.1.1 with the Nov security patch
https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto Z Play/Stock/
(I am US)(there are many others at that nice site!!!)
That took a lot of time.
Then I needed to be sure that I could get RSD lite to run, and tried and tried to no avail to get it to recognize my phone (even on my laptop) (I was testing with an old Moto G3 stock zip and my G3 phone) before some post gave me a version number much higher than at the RSD site. google gave me:
http://rsdlite.en.lo4d.com/
version 6.2.4, which worked perfectly.
I really need to write a short guide on this stuff - feels like I'm re-inventing the wheel, even though many folks have written much before I came along!
The reason for the above two is that for a while the last few days I kept running into folks who had taken 7 OTA and wound up with a bricked phone. So, yes, I just did a search for "brick" on xda in moto z play and will start reading them! LOL
Quick EDIT: I think I am wrong in that brick assumption - the first 3 I looked at involved encryption and 2 downgrades to MM (which is a no-no). I will read further.
edit2 - nevermind - most are downgrading to MM. Wish folks would just ask before doing that. That is a no-no of most (all?) phones. -
Hi,

I have no problem with various cameras getting good image, but sometimes on still first pic doesn't save. ( tried camera MX and Professional camera hd. I'm sure lots work about the same.)
Forgot to flash Alberto's verity patch right after flashing TWRP. So I had to RSD lite 7.1.1 Nov 1 and start over - no big deal! OP corrected.
Hello Kris,
I would like to ask for a link where I can download a working RSD so I can unlocked my bootloader.

2 User Account limit Oreo

V20 990DS I add one user Account no problems when trying to add a third one the add is greyed out. Is there a workaround to allow more user accounts?
Ok looks like I have to work out how to root then unroot after.
Ok further looking and no root option for 990DS Oreo even then this model seems difficult and risky to root. Annoying how they put a artificial limit in.

There is root, just do upto the twrp he twrp flash step using dirty santa root method, then flash latest twrp again and flash rooted oreo and mk kernel.
Do you have a link as it seems the only instructions say you have to downgrade to early version of Android N. This also sound like I will end up with a rooted phone. Yes I've spent many hours reading and looking into this but it seems you have to understand a lot of info not included in the tutorial. I've rooted older Samsung phones in the past but the instructions were clear and it was easier in Android 4. Some apps just don't like rooted phones so I don't want that. Thanks.

You do have to be rooted to edit build.prop, however with magisk you can hide the fact that the phone is rooted from almost all apps (configurable in magisk manager).

Root and Upgrade from 6.0.1 to ?

I have an SM-N910P (SM-N910PVPU5DQI5)
hardware: N910P.05
OS: 6.01
Build: MMB29M.N9100V0U5DQI5
Wi-Fi only since the connection to Sprint is no more (use my Note 8 for that)
TL;DR - where can I find the ROM for this phone for 8.1 Oreo? Where can I find instructions on how to do it?
I'd like to root it (have oneclickroot) to get rid of the crap finally; then upgrade the OS. Version 8.1 would be fine, 9 is buggy on my Note 8 so not sure I want to go that far yet.
What I can't find is what I need for the phone I have to do what I want. Yes, I've done searches. Yes, I've even used my Google Fu. But most of what I find is from 2016-17 or earlier. After so much researching and reading, I am in acronym hell.
ROM = something you flash to upgrade OS (yes?)
ODIN = some special something that can do all but I can't find (makes my head thor....sorry, couldn't resist)
TWRP2 = twerp something that helps with booting but not sure what else
I have found threads that discuss it but there's a lot of broken linkages both here and elsewhere due to age of articles.
I am a root-virgin. I was going to root my Note 10.1/2013 tablet but replacing the battery did not revive it. Funeral was beautiful, though.
There is a Lineage OS Unofficial 15.1 trlte based on 8.0 Oreo. However, being an unofficial version it will have some bugs. My suggestion is to search XDA Note 4. Then scroll down to Android general development Snapdragon and go to LineageOS 16.1 unofficial version, scroll down and it will have a link to the unofficial 15.1. Then look for the download version trlte. And just for the record, I totally understand what you mean by acronym hell. I went through that also. Had to stop reading to search 5 or 6 times within 1 paragraph of reading. It takes time to understand but if you persist youll get the jang if it. As for the oneclickroot I can offer you no info as I have no experience with it. I will say, Odin is the preferred method here on XDA. There may be members that look down an app to root. I am not one of them as I began my root with the S3 years back. I was unfamiliar with Odin, drives, and PC. Rooting with an app helped to get started. As. for your search, you mentioned most from 2016 & ,17. Yep , I know. The developers for the most part have moved on to newer phones.
Oh, if you have TWRP custom recovery, I strongly recommend backing up of all your parttisions before you begin, meaning check all the boxs before you back up. Also, there is an app called Tipatch which patches TWRP adding the ability to back not only data but alll internal memory. Make sure you TWRP is set to backing up to your external SD. If your looking for something close but not Oreo. Try GRX home zip on stock deodexed rom. Good luck
Twrp (team win recovery project) is a custom recovery which replaces your stock recovery. It is very important to download the correct one for your phone. I use twrp 3.2.3-0-trlte.img.tar and flash it with Oden. Make sure to turn off auto reboot. YouTube search for more details. A custom recovery lets you flash custom roms, kernel, and various zip files. The most important thing it does is backup all the parttisions. If you make a mistake later on soft brick your phone , you backup may be the only thing that gets it working again. I recommend backing up all parttisions (check all boxes ) before you root or mod anything. That way you have a clean backup of your original firmware. Backup everything to external sd and if possible make a duplicate and save to pc, flash drive...... And yes, its a bit overwhelming at first so do some research and ask questions if needed.
Back up what's that? LOL.. When I backed up mine, then started the wipe process I accidentally wiped away my back up. LOL lucky for me I have a complete stock firmware on reserve if it is ever needed. I'm itching to try something new, but might just stick to what i have now..

How are you my friend? Always good to hear from you Mr doubledragon5. At one point, I thought I was alone in this forum.
LOL , Im glad you liked that"back up whats that?" LoL Perhaps I should have been a bit more tactful in my responses but I couldnt help myself . Just couldn't seem to convince that member the importance of making a backup before flashing and modifying everything. As for the systemimg fail in Odin, the PIT file from another firmware has partitioning that is incompatible with 5dq15.
It could be a combination of DM-verity, DRK, emmc/mmc fail and all the rest.

Ya I forgot to make my back up go to the external SD card, or at least transfer it to my computer desktop.. I love having complete control of my phone.. It actually works better than my Pixel 3a Xl... Only issue I have found so far is after upgrading my youtube vanced, I lost screen rotation, and can't figure out why.. I'm going to uninstall it just to see if some how that caused the issue.. If not then time for a complete reinstall... LOL I always visit this forum at least 3-4 times a day to see what is up.. Hopefully more people will come to realize, that the newer phones are just not worth the price, as they have become to restrictive and to expensive, plus not to mention to intrusive.

The 512gb Note 10 plus at about $1,200 is an experience device. The hardware is impressive, however, restrictive US versions have locked bootloaders.
Your YouTube Vanced app may conflict with YouTube when updating. I believe you have to uninstall YouTube updateds and disable automatic updates in Google PS. Then install YouTube Vanced . Advice to confirm this as Im not certain of the exact procedure. Just be careful not to unistall Youtube Good luck.

Youtube was originally installed, but taken out with TT back up and root, before Youtube Vanced was intalled.. So I went ahead and reinstalled the rom. Will see what happens over the next few days.. I know a fix was posted in the Rom thread, but the link is broken, as it is no longer being supported naturally.. But hope someone has a copy, for future use, rather than keep on re-installing.

Did reinstalling the rom fix the rotation issues? Can't help but notice how much you like YouTube Vanced so it must be better that YouTube. Now Im interested in YT Vanced.
What do you think of the Team BlackOut app in Dtux rom control mod center?

Yes. YouTube vanced is much better than the regular youtube.. But I can't seem to get the rooted version to work at all. I use the non route version with micro G. But you have to use a slightly older version as a newest version keeps on Forest closing.

I haven't the experience with YouTube Vanced so I can not advise. As far as the broken links in the developer threads it seem to be a common issue. Im guessing , the more time that passes the less the links will provide a download. As I notice your post on Dr. ketan rom and it links to a n910g xda thread. If you do go back to rooted stock deodexed rom before installing a custom rom then consider copying your system csc file/folder to external sd. Also, you may wish to check out the GRX home v8 touchwiz mod .zip. Its modern and customizable but can not easily be ported to the Dtux rom as some setting overlap but once familiar with the setting in GRX then you can avoid conflicting issues with the rom control app of the custom rom. GRX works really smooth and I liked it so much than when I installed Dtux the touchwiz launcher felt out dated. Anyway the last pic is an app for themeing the Play Store.

Ya it did, When I uninstall stuff from TT back up and root, obviously a app that I uninstall causes this. I have not figured out yet which one.. Since I had to do it 2 more times,. LOL But apps that I do remove have nothing to do with screen rotation..

Stuck on the 5DQ15, I noticed something in looking threw a .zip custom rom with knox system app removed./deleted. The files/app inside the folders were deleted. The folder was not delete but the property permissions were changed. I found this to be consistent rom to rom developer to developer. Ill post a few pics in the next post. So now I do the same thing with a root file manager. I just copy and past the folder to external sd before I delete files/app from the system. Then back out and change the folder permissions and reboot. Its recommend to wipe dalvik/chache making changes to the system but I get lazy and just reboot.
If you still have the Dr. ketans M12 rom or another rom with system apps that have been removed then you can look threw the rom .zip and copy the touchwiz home app to the external sd . I use an older app (ZArchiver pro) to be able to copy an app from a .zip without the need to extract the entire .zip to do so. Perhaps the newer free version will do the same.
