Planning to buy Samsung S7 edge, how is it? need some suggestions before buying.
I just bought S7 Edge today coming from Note 4 N910C and I can say it is really a very good phone. Worth the upgrade
Depends on your current phone but honestly is the best phone I've had the chance to play with. Nothing to complain about here!
What kind of suggestions do you need?
I think it's a great phone. The only other phones I'd consider right now are the htc 10 and the Nexus 6p. I consider the S7 Edge, for my needs and wants, to be better than either. Your needs and wants may be different.
One suggestion: get a case. I've never used cases before, but the S7 is very slippery, and very fragile. I'm using a thin, clear TPU case just to provide better grip, and at least a little protection.
I think this smartphone has everything that you need in a smartphone. Firstly the design of S7 Edge gives you the slimmest feel in your hand without trading off the extra large screen size. Secondly, it's water resistant up to 30 minutes in a depth of 1.5 meters or below. So, I personally suggest you to go for Samsung Edge S7 which happens to be the Best smartphone in 2016

Haha, it's good to see you here again, I upgraded to the edge as well. I worked with you on N4 MM twrp backup if you remember. Anyway, I agree, it is definely worth the upgrade, even though I kinda miss spen.
Best phone out right now. Ditched iphone 6 plus.
I currently have an S7 Edge I got when I had to return my Note 7. Is it worth the money to switch to the V20 unlocked version that BH sells even though it doesn't offer Wifi Calling? Also I hear about the camera glass breaking on it as well easily.
Finally, would the iPhone 7 Plus be a better alternative to the V20?
Is there any particular reason why you want to switch? From reviews I've been seeing from actual users, the V20 can't match the Edge.

I get bored with phones lol. I had the s7 edge back in march, then bought the Note 7 then had to return that and got the Edge. Nearly got the iphone plus instead of the Edge but it was out of stock. Now i see the v20 with a larger screen and more features.
Also better cases for teh v20 that are more protective because it has a flat screen. Im using a Defender for the Edge which this screen protector actually fits tight to the screen but you have to tap hard because it's a thicker kind of plastic. Im thinking about getting Speck candygrip shell for it and sticking with the edge maybe.

we are not the worm in your stomach, why would we know what you want to do? ask yourself that then decide for yourself.
I switch to Iphone 7 for a month, couldnt live without root and xposed then came back to S7 edge.

When I returned my note 7, I tried both and had to return both. The problem you are going to have is the screen quality. Samsung makes the best screens on a smartphone. To me the LG v20 and iPhone was terrible compared to the s7 edge. That is the main reason why I bought the s7e, the screen is amazing. (also camera and battery life was good too.)
iPhone 7 plus
I also wanted to buy iPhone 7 plus but it was out of stock, instead I bought S7 edge. In my opinion, I see LGv20 as a downgrade from s7 edge. There's no doubt that iPhone 7 plus is the fastest phone you can buy. I really miss iMessage, FaceTime, great stand by time, way better app performance and excellent Siri features. However, the only thing you will be missing on an iPhone is Fast charging. That's the only reason I am staying with s7 edge and I hope that Apple releases the next iPhone with fast charging feature.

You won't get wireless charging too.
Windows XP would also run as the fastest OS on PC if you can manage to install it on modern PCs. That's why iOS is so blazing fast. If you're a casual user, iOS may be an option. But for some of us, we feel too limited by it. I can't even set it ti automatically change brightness and screen on time based on what app is in the foreground, at least maybe without having to jailbreak. On Android that's just a couple of minutes to set up.

Iphone
You won't enjoy your phone much with iphones because of short battery life.
I get bored quickly also I've had my s7e since release, I tried switching to iphone7 plus had for two days couldn't stand it sold it, then I bought a pixel xl which I did like a lot but the camera wasn't as good as s7e, which my wife still had an s7e so I was constantly comparing pics side by side but ultimately I returned the pixel also because I couldn't live with 32gb phone. So now I'm back to my awesome s7e, amazing it still reigns supreme after releasing so long ago. As for the v20, not impressed enough to even want to try it, why aren't you considering pixel xl? I think s7e and pixel xl are androids of the year
If you're bored with a top of the line Android, root it an slap a custom ROM on it.

Only other phone i would consideris the iphone 7 plus if i was wanting to switch. Imessage, facetime and siri all suck! Better app performance is subjective. Been with apple before and hate being limited to do stuff. Battery life is superb with iphones granted that is the only thing i miss. Multitasking is much better on this s7 edge than previous iphones. Havent tried the 7 though but highly doubt much has changed. The s7 edge is the closest thing to the note 7 which i love. Why would u consider a total different ui is beyond me. To each their own but i for one wont be tied by the sack by apple.
There is no auto brightness in ios??? Wtf? Really?
And for you op, you change a lot of phones. Do the mother nature a favor and stick with your s7e. ?
I'm getting bored with my S7 edge, but I would never change to an iPhone because iOS is way to closed. The only way to open it is by jailbreaking it, but Apple is hunting the jailbreak and it's getting harder and harder to jb...
I'll buy a One+ 3T soon, then a One 4 or maybe Pixel 2 depending on the design

Not autobrightness. That's different from what I'm talking about. For example you open a game, you want autobrightness to turn off automatically, then turn on back when you exit a game. Or when going into Chrome, you want screen on time to automatically change from 1min to 10 minutes. That can be done on Android via stuff like Tasker.
But I've never seen any of my friends on iOS have autobrightness. It's always real dark or blinding bright.

s7 edge a better phone end of
So it's been a few months since I've been planning to replace my old Sammy Note 3, and now I can finally do it. And since I took the decision to replace it, I kept looking at comparisons between all the flagships out there, and the concluding battle is left between the V20 and the S7 Edge. Why I'm still conflicted after all this time is because of a couple of things: I've seen that the S7's camera is a bit better in the reviews, but most of them were testing using V20 test versions, so I believe the camera quality improved a bit, and I'm also a big lover of landscapes so the wide angle camera will surely come in handy... There's also that thing that V20's camera lenses suddenly crack, but I've seen that it sometimes happens with the S7 too, so I don't really know. And last but not the least, the fact that the speaker gets broken. Sure, all the technical problems wouldn't be much trouble if the phone wasn't such a ***** to get your hands on here in Romania, so I don't know what they are going to repair and what not with the included warranty.
Edge for sure.
The v20 dosent have it....
LG is bad at building phones.
Saumsung is much better not including the note 7.
and samsung have a grater devs forum.
Samsung is garbage now. I have never owned an LG product but have always had Sammy devices and an HTC........LG V20 is the best phone I've ever had. Only thing is its not water resistant but who wants to put their phone in water? Not me......You will be happy with the LG.....Sammy is not that great anymore. Plus I've taken 4 or 5 phones back as they have had hardware issues. I use phones hard......LG is doing a great job and under the radar.
Carried the s7.. the edeg.. note 7... this lg v20.. the htc 10.. the note 5..
The htc is falling behind with poor cameras but they have oem bootloader unlocks supported by htc some what.
The lg v20 has a good camera.. and the landscapes are cool... but lg phones in the past have been overheating and dying within 2 years and have had some design flaws. The v20 is big and bright.. but does make me worry how long it really will last with my kinda use.
And the samsung series..
Man.. I love my samasungs.. I miss the oled screens they use and how rich the colors are. And their camera is great also..I loved the note 7 and it luckily was rooted with a leaked img almost same day.. and here leads me to the cons.. everything s7 and newer is going to be bootloader locked. Root is going to be a lot harder and gonna take longer or be blocked almost fully because of this in the future without a leak or a bunch of devs.. this put me off samsung until they can provide a unlock..
So take it as is.. get what you want and underatand the pros and cons.. some will have to do with market base to and witch devices get the most love and development..
Maybe a pixel xl? Lol
Definitely the V20, I just sold my S7 Edge and I'm not looking back. Audio quality is the best of any smartphone without the need for an external AMP/DAC. The fingerprint sensor is so much better/more accurate on the V20 and it doesn't have an annoying edge that you hit all the time with the palm of your hand. Also it has USB-C which IMO is much better than Micro USB, more solid connection and faster transfer speeds.
Oh and don't forget the IR blaster, how many other phones have one? So useful.

I can't offer any help, but I'd suggest you make the same post in the Samsung 7 Edge forum as well.

There are water resistant cases for the V20 on Amazon.
LG will always be my favourite
LG any day (G5 or V20) They offer smoother UI than TouchWiz ! Samsung although have same specs as any 2016 flagships do, they lag and slow down over time! Also since "water resistance" phone like S7 Edge is being overrated trend they follow, this causes the S7 Edge loudspeaker behave badly after dunging it in water, the speaker quality comes out worse on any volume. Just look how LG is never copying design language as S7 looks almost an iPhone, how LG is being innovative on their own. I can't wait for the amazing LG G6 which is supposed to launch 1 month earlier than the Galaxy S8 (i'm more interested in G6 rather than S8)
All I can say is that I loved my v10, and then have it to my mom, and she loves it. Now I have a v20 and and love it just even more! Only thing I miss is the rear mounted buttons, but overall an awesome phone! I'll take it over the glued together Sammie's and iPhones all day long!

As someone suggested above, you should make a similar post in the samsung s7 edge forum. The main reason why I went with the V20 is the removable battery, the Quick Charging 3.0 (aftermarket), USB type-c port, USB 3.0 speed (aftermarket) and flat screen.

I'm really tempted to get the V20. But I'm pretty set on getting one with 6GB of RAM. I want to be futureproofed somewhat. I tend to run a LOT of apps, so I need the memory.
I had the S7 Edge before my V20 and although I miss the AMOLED display I am much happier with the V20. The V20 does not lag at all, it is very snappy. The dual lens camera is stunning on the V20, especially the wide angle lens. USB C, out of the box Android N, factory installed screen protector, and a simple and lightweight LG launcher are reasons to choose the V20 IMO.
Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy S8 and S8+ to the world at the Unpacked event in New York.
These new devices are equipped with many new features.
I like first-time features of the new Galaxy S8 and S8+.
I think the main difference is size only.
Do you any other difference?

bigger battery in the s8+
Yep. Other than the slightly larger batter (3500mAh) and larger display (6.2"), there's NO difference between the 2 phones. If you're stuck between the 2 devices, it just comes down to preference. I will say that if you plan on using the fingerprint scanner, because it's in a kinda odd position, the S8+ might not be as good, if you have smaller hands.
In my personal experience with the S8+, I have small hands, but I didn't find it that bad. Though, that might be because I'm used to holding my phone in my right hand anyway, so I have no issue with the placement, except for it's barely distinguishable from the camera. XP
Besides that, for a 6.2" phone, it doesn't feel HUGGGGGGGEEEEEEEE, compared to something like the iPhone 7+ or Nexus 6, which is why it took me like an hour to make up my mind between the two, haha! And despite me picking the S8 over the S8+ to pre-order, I'm tempted to switch it...

I took another look at the S8 & S8+ again today, which I swear I've gone to Best Buy so much recently that the guy who works in the Samsung Experience area recognizes me, haha. XD It's only because I'm still struggling to figure out if I wanna switch my pre-order to the S8+ or not.
Funny enough, he totally sympathizes with me too because, while he loves how the S8 & S8+ look and such, he's unsure if he wants jump on ether of those or wait until the next Note comes out (as he currently has the Note 5).
While I pre-ordered the S8, the more I compare the 2 variants, the more I'm leaning towards the larger one. I'm scared to jump the gun because I'm worried that I might regret it and... I'm trying to avoid that restocking fee at all costs, lawl. I still have time to decide if I wanna switch, but derp... ^^;

The difference is one has + in the name and about 100GBP/USD more in the price tag
Oh yeah, that too with the price. ? Besides the slightly bigger screen and battery, that I mentioned in an earlier post.
If you're in the US, Best buy has one of the better deals, as you can save up to $100 on the phone ($50 on the S8 and $100 on the S8+), so the price isn't as big of a dent. With the discount, the S8+ is basically the cost of the S8 at full price, so at least for me, it's a more viable option.
If you're outside the US, then I'm extremely uncertain with and discounts or deals there are, if any. Someone else here might have a better idea on that one.

I find the plus just a bit too tall for comfortable pocketing and one handed use. If it were a couple mm's shorter it would have been a no brainer. I'm a little afraid that the S8's narrowness is going to bother me compared to my S7E. But maybe I'll just enjoy the large screen and easier reach on such a nice pocketable phone. By the time you case many of these large phones they become just too bulky for my taste.
EDIT: Just did the Best Buy side by side compare with my S7E. Ordinarily I would have picked the plus, but the little slick plain S8 is so portably nice, it is hard to resist based on typability, pocketability and one handed use overall. Not that the plus isn't very cool to hold an use and the most manageable "BIG" screen phone out there in my opinion, but the S8 is just too good without having to literally stretch both in use and pocket and holds it's own next to the wider S7E. I'm also making the decision with a view towards how the phone will plump up with a case. Anyway, I'm sticking with my regular S8 order.
xgman said:
By the way, has anyone else noticed how Best Buy increased it's no contract retail priced S8's by $100 over anyone else! ($820 vs $720 retail?) Shame on them. The good deal there requires signing up or adding to a existing contract.

Really? I just checked their site and it's still $749.99 for the full retail price. (well, besides Verizon, as their full price is $719.99) Yep, it does as with the payment plans, that's where the carriers make their money. Not on the phones themselves as they get them cheaper from the manufacturers. That's what I was told when I asked why the deals only work on the payment plans.
the s8+ does have 500 mah more battery but how effective that is in the real world is up for discussion, especially since the screen is .4 inches bigger.
I ordered the regular s8, the guy at Tmo took a case out of the packaging and let me actually try the phone in my pocket with a case on. It was just a tad too big for me. I love big screens (had the Note4 and Note 7), but for my lifestyle it was just too big (I go out, hike, go to shows, etc.). That thing would break at somepoint! The s8 feels perfect and is also cheaper with a much smaller downpayment on Tmo ($30 v. $130 and that doesn't include the taxes), price isn't that big of an issue for me but I don't want to put $200+ down on a phone I feel like I might JUMP in a year or less (note 8 or s9)...In the end you just got to choose what suits your needs.

Yeah, the battery thing has me a bit disappointed and a little worried and yes you nailed it, "a tad too big". Just a tad, but you can't deny that little tad. I also typed on them side by side and it was easier on the smaller phone. Even easier than on the S&E.
I've seen the international version of the s8+ geekbenched and it got something like 6800 points multicore, that's higher than any s8 I've seen (which are very few actually), so that makes me think that the s8+ could be clocked slightly higher than the s8, at least the international versions. Of course this isn't confirmed by any means, it's just a theory.
I own a Galaxy S9 plus about two month..
But I'm already very disappointed....
I know I'll miss Dolby Atmos , the screen for sure..
Now I need to know how good is the camera, screen & sound quality on OnePlus 6T?

you can find a magisk module for viper or dolby
gcam works great and will do you well in regards to reproducing great colors
the mics are much worse, so be prepared for that
the screen is dimmer but imo I like my screen dimmer so that I do not burn my eye sockets with beams of light
I do miss the curved amoled display, but have got over it bc of the the 6.4 inch display with minimal bezals.
Battery will be twice as good when compared to s9 plus, mainly due to custom kernels.
the speaker is plenty loud enough for media consumption
I think it depends on what you use a phone for. If having a great camera, Samsung pay, awesome sound or wireless charging us a must for you than stick with the Galaxy. If you want a blazing fast, near stock ui, with awesome battery life and very fast charging, than go with the OP6t. I switched from a Galaxy S9+ and don't regret it one bit.
I used to have to keep the Galaxy on the wireless charger all day to make sure I always had enough battery to make it through an a few hours away from home. As soon as you turn that beautiful S9 screen on, it seemed like the battery dropped 10 percent every few minutes. I routinely make it through the day on the OP6t with 50 percent left and get around 7 hours of on screen time before needing to charge.
You don't need to do anything custom if you don't want to. I'm running stock and love it. I actually think the screen is awesome. Something about the size and color make it really enjoyable to use. It isn't quite as bright but who cares? I doubt most people use the S9 at Max brightness anyway.
The OP6t doesn't have stereo speakers but the one it does have sounds quite nice. They also recently added an equalizer and sound profiles which I like.
I think it's the ui that completely won me over. Samsung's always felt slow while oxegen os is the fastest Android experience I've ever seen, even when put up against stuff like the pixel.
I like Samsung pay and wireless charging but they aren't must-haves for me. The only thing I really miss is the camera. The OP6t isn't bad but it definitely isn't as good as the S9.
It's two totally different phones. I've had a Note 9 and 6T simultaneously for a while and while the Note 9 is the better phone in almost every regard except speed and battery life (software is subjective) i sold my Note 9 yesterday and keeping the 6T. The main reason being that the 6T feels so much better in the hand (Thunder Purple). The Note is a greeze magnet and that is very uncomfortable to me. The 6T hardly collects fingerprints at all and feels 10 times better in the hand albeit more slippery. But it just feel so much better in the hand. I do miss the audio quality in wired headphones from the Note. But I have recently ordered a Razer usb-c to 3,5mm dongle that is supposed to be much better than the pass-through dongle that is shipped with the 6T as the razer one has a good DAC in it. I also miss the stereo speakers from the Note. But I can live with this.

I have both as well. Going to keep both because both are awesome in different ways. On the weekdays, the note goes to work with me as I like using the pen. If I am traveling I'll take the note as well because the camera is a little better not much though o6t does a good job.

I was thinking of doing the same actually but the oleophobic coating was pretty worn off already in some places on the Note and that disturbed me. It got worn off on the edge parts very quickly by just laying in my pocket in a pair of jeans that has very short pockets so the phone was visible. It rubbed against the edges and in only a few weeks time the coating was totally gone in some areas. I really dislike the edge part of the phone I hope the Note 10 will be flat.
I had note 8 and sold it and went to the 6T. Don't regret it all the 6T is way faster with awesome battery life. I have to say that Google pay is faster than Samsung pay. The only thing I miss is the points from Samsung pay. I have the Galaxy frontier watch paired with the 6t, so use Samsung pay there and Google pay with phone.
At this point the OnePlus camera being being bad is a shoe that no longer fits. It was true in the past with previous devices, no denying it, but nowadays the 6T takes great photos and only those who need, want, and can actually tell the difference between this and the very best need consider it part of their decision process. The only real upgrade you're going to see is battery life, no lies were told above, OnePlus has got the battery thing figured out and you're going to love the new found freedom from charge sources if you move over. Everything else is more or less lateral in the big stuff and a matter of preference in the details. You're on an excellent device of the latest generation, if money is not something you have to throw around I'd stick where you are at least until spring. If you've got a bit of spare ching and the battery life has been annoying for you on the 9 it might be worth a move. If you've got real money then you scratch the itch because, why not scratch it?
