Looks like I can't find such a setting, I tought this was an Android built-in feature? Is this in some place I missed, or do I just have to rely on third party options?

I looked around and couldn't find anything. Used Tasker to accomplish it.

I'm looking for an app that I can set the LED's on a wing. I had a BB and used a app called "Blackberry Alerts". Does anyone know of anything like it???

You can already set it from WinMo...
Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications. Go to the right tab, and then select which events you want, and what actions you want them to perform. I'm pretty sure Flash Light is one of the options.
If you want something more advanced, then there's probably an app out there, but I think WinMo's settings are sufficient.
I kind of hate that this is my first post - A little pedestrian - I've been a longtime lurker and thanks to a lot of this forum, I made the jump yesterday to a rooted MyTouch 3G with Cyanogen's latest. I'm pleased.
Coming from a BlackBerry, I've been spoiled by the easy-switch between "profiles", specifically the ability to set the device to only ring for calls and not for SMS or other notifications.
I'm finding a one-touch solution difficult to come by - And I've already tried "Profiles", "Auto Ring", "Toggle Settings" and "Ring Toggle" - Each of them is either a multi-step process to get to "just ring for calls" or won't turn off SMS vibration, a common issue?
Anyway, great community here and I hope to be a small part. If anyone knows a simple, reliable way to set my phone to just ring (for nighttime important calls) and silent everything else (except alarms) - Please let me know!
Thanks!

Um have you tried going into settings, sound/display -> ringer volume? You can check a box and mute your notification sounds. Personally, I find this really easy already but if you must have that one-touch then.. I don't know

It isn't a deal-breaker or anything, but even with a shortcut to "Sound & display", it's a few extra swipes and pokes
I was hoping there was a shortcut directly to that screen or just a simple on-screen button that could turn everything but alarms and calls off.
Thanks

Yes sir! That's what we want - But how do we get that screen as a shortcut or widget on our home-screen?

i think that if it were developed it would need to also toggle the "vibrate on" selection within each notification setting for the various apps that utilize notifications. like gmail app, email app, exchange app, messaging apps, sms/mms etc. it is currently an android weakness compared to winblow and dingleberry but the other strengths of the os outweigh this and a few other features' immaturity. try the market...
well as of right now I can offer you one thing that requires 3 clicks lol
use a shortcut widget! But that is almost as long as doing it normally... lol
although there may be a way using better cut (trying to figure that out)
yeahhh I don't know what else you can do ;p
I give up looking for it. I tried using better cut / any cut and tried the "make your own shortcut"
Apparently there is an intent to adjust the volume but.. I don't know what to put in the "data" field. Searched around and not many people know how to use this feature either haha

...point about "vibrate on" is that you'd need a shortcut (as you say) for each app if, like me, you activate "vibrate on" as part of the notification profile for each of the app examples i listed above. in other words, simply silencing notifications volume from settings/ringer_volume/use_incoming_call_volume_for_notifications has no effect on the "vibrate on/off" selection profile for the individual apps.
It seems like the whole "SMS vibrations are different" deal is what really makes this a difficult implementation - Every application I've tried has difficulty specifically with silencing SMS vibrations that are turned on - Otherwise, it's totally possible - Very, very strange that this is still an issue...

Does anyone know where the quiet hours stuff is hidden on this phone? It's on stock 4.2.2, so how come I can't find it on this phone?
Also, how come third party keyboards don't work? I set it as default and it opens, but doesn't actually type anything...
Oh, and is there a way to get a battery percentage icon instead of the standard one?

Battery % is under "Settings", "My Device", "Display", "Display Battery Percentage". Would also like to know about quiet hours.
For Battery Percentage go to
Settings >> My Device >> Display >> Scroll to more settings,
Unsure about third party keyboards. Swiftkey and SlideIT worked fine for me. Currently using SlideiT

Quiet hours is called blocking mode, broseph.
Sent from my HTC One
Thanks guys, I've now got battery percentage on the notification bar and enabled quiet hours again. Why the hell is it called blocking mode, that's just stupid. Oh well, thanks again!
Now just to figure out why the keyboard can't actually type anything in the text boxes! Works in landscape mode, but not portrait...
In fact, are we sure blocking mode just silences the phone, or does it actually block any incoming calls, texts and emails like it's name would suggest?

Settings, Blocking Mode for Quiet, can't help with keyboard?.
Right, blocking mode ISN'T quiet hours, it actually blocks all calls and notifications when activated.
So where is quiet hours, where it just goes on silent?
I've been trying Llama (a free alternative to Tasker) and its great for setting up things like a Quiet Time based on location, hours or whatever. I've got it set up to disable 3G, syncing (both to save battery life) and go quiet between midnight and 6:30am. I don't think its quite as good as Tasker but its free, so I'll persist for a little longer.
That reminds me, I got tasker years ago! Didn't think to use that for some reason. There is DEFINITELY a quiet hours function in stock 4.2.2 though, I doubt samsung would have removed it.
Got it doing it via tasker for now until I can find the proper way.
The keyboard works now, it needed an update from the play store to work on a high resolution screen. All sorted now, thanks guys!
This app from Play is very good in case Samsung removed it:

Many people like me are used to easily change the volume profile from Normal to Silent in the quick toggles menu on top. However this is my first Google phone and I've noticed that this option is missing. Instead we're supposed to use Do Not Disturb which is not the same thing.
Other threads suggested using a home screen widget which does the trick but it's still not very convenient as you have to unlock the phone to click it.
After I've spent some time looking and testing apps from Google Play store I found what we need! It's called "Ringer Modes - Quick Tile" and it works as intended. Don't forget to open it after the installation and to give it the required permission.
Google Play store link
P.S. Don't forget to check the attached screenshots.
Thanks, this seems ideal, this should be built into the OS.
Thanks. Very useful
Thank you. Very useful

Can you edit the sound profile? Or add?

The profiles are fixed:
Normal - sound & vibration
Vibrate - vibration only
Silent - sound off & vibration off
For widget, what would be your recommendation?
I like something which is already available in the home screen.

I've tried several widgets but only one of them worked properly every time. It's called Sound Mode Toggle Widget:

Thanks for sharing!
Is there a way to do this? In short, I want my ringtone lower and my notifications higher. Is there a magisk module or something for this on OOS? Thanks!
I know using Tasker you can set them separately but I am not sure if the setting will stick.

No i dont think u can do that with tasker if the OS is not supporting. If you know a way that we can do this in Tasker in OOS can u please share it. It would be a great help.
Like I said, you can set them separately but I don't know if the setting sticks. I can't test this as I am in the office currently.
Check my screenshot, you can add the action to set each one.

thanx for the link :good: I've tried it, unfortunately won't support our mobile's alert slider...my phone will ring even when switched to mute and yes, i've checked all the necessary permissions and settings...
Oh, I don't use the slider, so it isn't an issue. I just use the silent tile and nightly quiet schedule when needed. Slider is a cool feature, but I just got used to never using one on any phone and rely on the other method to silent the phone.
Just odd how there is no separate ring/notification like their used to be. Guess Samsung and maybe others people complain about this lack of obvious feature.
