I noticed that some Samsung apps have dark background instead of black. E.g. Settings, Messages, Phone ... have dark background and My Files, Calculator, Notes have black. Is it a bug of One UI 1.1 ?
When I had Note 9 with One UI 1.0 every Samsung app has black background in Night mode I think.

Are you sure that you are talking about "main" background ? A content in all apps has grey/dark background in rounded square/rectangle and the "main" background in all Samsung apps should have black color.
A problem in some apps as I wrote is that "main" background is not solid black (it looks like a gradient dark-black).

All my dark/black themes no longer work in PIE either. Bummer.

I'm considering pre-ordering the Galaxy S4 for Verizon but I've been noticing something odd. The international reviews show a firmware with A white keyboard, and consistent white menu/app backgrounds throughout. The US versions seem to have the black backgrounds for the settings menus and gallery apps, dark keyboard, but other apps such as messaging, contacts and dialer are white themed. Is there an option to change that? It just seems inconsistent to have some apps dark and some apps light. Perhaps a custom ROM will bring a more uniform theme.
On my S4 it's all black, didn't see any white yet, don't think any S4 has black/white mixed .

My S4 (AT&T) has the white contacts, dialer, and messaging...and everything else is dark. Wish I could change this somehow but there doesn't seem to be any options.
Hi, just simple question. How can I setup black background for all ROM apks that doesnt have their own background?
I tried Omega 5.0, Wanam 1.2, prerooted MF2 ROM and all of these have very dark grey colour backgroung in settings, contacts, messaging etc. Before MEA (e.g. on ME2 I used quite long) there was 100% black background (with well known smearing efect which doesnt bother me so much). So, sammy changed the background from black to dark grey for eliminating smearing efect and to shut our mouth up THX for advice I think many of us love our AMOLED display with true blacks and hate samsung for these cheap tricks!
Here are screenshot, if you cant see the difference, just use the pipette (colour picker) in your favourite photo editing program and observe what colour it truly is...
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a way to make the holo dark and light app backgrounds slightly translucent.
What I mean by that is that apps that now have holo dark or light theme get a translucent background so that you can see your homescreen background slightly lighter or darker (depending on the used theme).
A few days ago I had installed a custom kernel which installed an app called 'synapse', in this app's settings there where 3 theme's: dark, light and translucent. I liked the translucent so much that I wanted it on all my apps. Thats why I'm asking for this.
I've already tried to imitate it with some xposed modules that allowed me to customize the holo dark and light backgrounds, but I couldn't get what I wanted
I really hope someone knows a way to make this work.
Can anybody please tell me if theres a way to get my yotaphone 2 (black) to invert its colours or display white text on a black background on the EPD?
Basically I would like to have my phone function in the same way as the yotaphone white's do, i.e in a 'night mode' style display.
All help will be appreciated

Hello
Not sure of what you are looking for. You can always invert the black & white in Yota reader, but That's the only thing I know. If you want to invert the whole epd screen all the time, I have no clue.
Yep im trying to invert the EPD all the time like it is on the white version of the phone found in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYThtveI8iQ
Would it not be possible to flash the white versions firmware to my phone?

I have done that and it changes nothing about the display, my phone is rooted, do you think that might be affecting the white theme from working?
When you load the 'white theme' doe s it invert the colours/give you white text on black background?

The latest build of stock with August security update gives a strange glare after locking. I have attached the screenshot of the lock screen and the home screen. What is this difference? Earlier it wasn't.
You mean the dark overlay in the lock screen? It's been in stock Android since Nougat at least.

Yeah I am aware of the dark overlay. But this time it's somewhat white overlay which looks ugly (for dark wallpapers it is ok but as you change to colorful and lighter ones the white overlay comes on).

It's probably an "optical illusion". I've tried to simulate this effect in Gimp (add black layer with ~25% opacity, decrease saturation by ~15% and add a bit of blur) applied to your homescreen image and the result is similar to your lockscreen screenshot. Maybe someone can find in AOSP source code what exactly is being applied to the picture, but IMHO it's the same for light and dark backgrounds, just the result is different to our eyes. But I fully agree that it's ugly as hell, I was always removing this overlay with Xposed before Oreo.
