Wow.... I rooted my kfhd using adb commands manually. Thanks to Revs video.
I have no idea where you went wrong. Aren't you supposed to use 2 tools to completely root the kfhd? What is "señarate"? You may want to post this in the thread where you got your root advice. You can check out the Kindle Fire First Aide tool (link in my signature ) which may help you start over from scratch.
Good Luck!

So, I finally went through the process of rooting my KFHD7 yesterday and installing CM10.2. I have to say, this was the best thing I've done with my Kindle since I purchased it. One thing that I'm disappointed with is the loss of ability to borrow books through the kindle owner's lending library. I knew this was going to be the case going in, but I'm still determined to find a way to get my monthly quota of free books - after all, they're dependent not on my owning a Kindle, but on my owning a Kindle and paying $90/yr or whatever we're paying for Prime now. I'm paying for it, so I want it, right?
Anyway, what I'm wondering is whether I can just download my books through the Fire Emulator? I set it up and was able to register it under my amazon account, but there's no bookstore. Anyone know if I would have success were I to get the .apk from my original fire install and sideload it into the emulator?
I made a backup of my fire before rooting and flashing, but I don't know how to extract the apk from the .img file. Anyone know how to do this? Or maybe some other approach?

Kindle bookstore. I was able to mount my backup and extract all the .apk's from my original kindle os install. The bookstore just crashed though. I tried installing all of the .apks to see if I there might be a dependency somewhere, but nothing worked. All the apps from my backup just crash.

Can't be done. The work it would take to make three stock OS Alps work with Jelly Bean would be more effort than is worth. They really on certain libraries in the stock OS that aren't in Jelly Bean.

Sorry, I guessed I was a little rushed in my reading. I think you would have to make the apps part of the system partition (push it to /system/app/).
This's just a quick guide on how to get the Google Play Store installed on the latest Fire OS 5 for Amazon Fire tablets with no Root, PC or ADB required.
This should work on any Amazon Fire tablet released from 2014 onwards (4th Generation and above) that's running Fire OS 5.X.
NOTE (1): To install the required APKs, you may need a file manager from the Amazon Appstore, I used TOTAL COMMANDER - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00H4IHJ8M/
With later versions of Fire OS or SILK, you can just tap the download notifications as and when you download the APKs or use SILKs download manager, removing the need for the above file manager.
Click to collapse
NOTE (2): You'll also need to enable 'Apps from Unknown Sources' found under Settings > Security of the Fire OS.
Click to collapse
Now simply download the 4 APK files below using the stock web browser, SILK and install them in that same order, then POWER OFF and RESTART your tablet and afterwards open up the Google Play Store and log in with your Google account:
1. Google Account Manager 5.1-1743759
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...unt-manager-5-1-1743759-android-apk-download/
2. Google Services Framework 5.1-1743759
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...s-framework-5-1-1743759-android-apk-download/
3. Google Play Services 11.5.09 (230-164803921)
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...s-11-5-09-230-164803921-android-apk-download/
4. Google Play Store 8.3.41.U-all [0] [FP] 170066753
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...41-u-all-0-fp-170066753-android-apk-download/
In future, the Google Play Store and Google Play Services apps will auto update themselves in the background.
How to install? (Sorry, newcomer!)
I have downloaded the 4 APKs mentioned, but what is the procedere to install them?

download the apps, when complete you can tap on the notification, you will have an option to install
be sure to allow unknown sources in settings before downloading apps

Edit: stay away from ES File Manager, it was sold, and new owners have packed it full of junkware
there are several other great file managers

Tnx for your assistance sd-shadow. All working perfect meanwhile!

I take no credit for this, I'm just simply creating a quick and simple post (mainly for ease and future reference for myself) to get the Google Play Store installed on the latest Fire OS 5.3.1.1 with no root or ADB required.
All you have to do is download and install these 4 APKs below and login with your Google account, that's it:
Google Account Manager 5.1-1743759
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...unt-manager-5-1-1743759-android-apk-download/
Google Services Framework 5.1-1743759
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...s-framework-5-1-1743759-android-apk-download/
Google Play Services 9.8.77 (230-135396225)
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...es-9-8-77-230-135396225-android-apk-download/
Google Play Store 7.0.17.H-all [0]
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/google-play-store-7-0-17-h-all-0-release/
NOTE: This was all done on a Amazon Fire 8, 6th Gen. device.

Are those the prerequisites for Google play store? i have android system in my car multimedia. it does not have the google play store in it, and when i tried to install it (only google play store) it won't lunch and crash..
so i understand it needs all the 3 apk's in addition..
the version of android i have in my car is 4.4.2 - will the above apk version fit? or do i need different version?

Off topic question (does not pertain to device) - you'll need to ask your question elsewhere. And yes, different versions are needed depending on device type, capabilities and Android build.
I had to install latest Play Store version to get it all running on our Kindle Fire (think it's 5th gen). Version recommended above just went back to home screen.
Is there any way to get multiple Google accounts working using this method? I have a couple accounts that I need to have on devices for various reasons.
Excellent work!

FireOS yes you can update, Google framework will remain
root after updating, unlikely, at least right away

Thank you. Google Play Services on my Kindle Fire crashed and wouldn't allow me to access any Google Apps including Chrome, Gmail etc.. The message indicated that the apps wouldn't work unless an updated version of Google Play Services was installed and it seemed like the update wouldn't go through. I reset my Kindle to factory settings and followed your instructions and it seems great so far...not asking for a Google Play Services update. Thank you again Gilly10.

Hi, so you can update FireOS. But what about the google framework? Does it get updated automatically? Or if a new versione will be released, do you need to unistall the 4 apk first, and than install a newer version of the 4 apk?
Seems this method is no longer functioning. Applications are not searchable - only the webview application comes up on search results. When I search for my previously downloaded applications, they come up, but state that the administrator has not given me permission to install this item.
Furthermore it is the Google Play store for Work?
Any thoughts? This is happening on 3x Kindle Fire HD 8 devices, all of which worked previously. Running 5.3.1.1.

I keep getting a Parsing error when I try to install the first .apk file. Kindle Fire HD 8.9
I have Kindle fire 8.9. I've downloaded the apps but every time I try installing the first one, "Account manage" I get a "parse error." Do I need different files for my device or am I just doing something wrong?

parsing errors occur for a few different reasons
possibly one of these, but not limited to
app is not compatible with the os version
not much you can do about that other than try an older version of the app
there is a problem with the package installer
try wiping installer app data
some kind of caching error, or another app causing install failure
try a factory reset and/or flash firmware with adb sideload in recovery

Hi - I have a rooted HD8-6G with Google Play that has been working flawlessly for a long time now. However, I recently tried to update the Kindle app and it always fails.
I then tried to open the Amazon Store app, and it immediately terminates upon opening. I figure that the two may be related.
Is this a known problem?
I suppose I can root my HD8 and start from scratch again, but if Amazon apps aren't going to work anymore, I don't want to waste my time.
Thanks,
¿GJ?

I'm sorry but because of the root Amazon's factory APKs think your running a non kindle firmware, because these APKs have the ability to receive more offers, download more content, etc. You may need to uninstall them and then install the default ones from the play store.

What do you mean by "have rooted with Google Play"??? It seems like you don't understand what term "rooting" means.
Unfortunately (or fortunately ), Fire HD 8 2016 (6-th gen) can NOT be rooted; all "guides" available on internet are the scams and bloatware/rootkits installers, nothing more.
Where is no way to root Fire HD 8 2016 (same as 2017) but literally nothing wrong with the FireOS. Anyone can install Google's services and Play store app, and enjoy "freedom" of the access to the Android apps world!

I don't think you are really rooted, i ran into the same issue after installing the google play store. Simply uninstall the updates installed by google for store and kindle and they will work again.

Well, let's see ...
I have SuperSU v2.82 by Chainfire installed and operational
I can su in my Terminal Emulator to run various superuser commands.
I am running AdAway to block (almost) all ads.
I have Link2SD operational to convert some of my apps to System apps (like, Wakelock Detector Pro)
I have BusyBox Pro installed and operational
You can let me know if I am rooted or not.
Hello,
I rooted my tablet a while ago, froze several apps with Titanium and all works fine. Save for the Kindle app. I'm a Prime member and I use Kindle. Since the root, the Kindle app won't update and often crashes. I must often re-download books I had already downloaded before from my library. Is there a way to fix the Kindle app?
I tried freezing it with Titanium along with other apps that seemed related, and then to install an apk of a different version, but it will never install.
I was afraid to uninstall Kindle with Titanium. But is it even possible? If yes, will I be able to install the Google Play version of the app after? Thing is, I don't want to lose access to the Kindle app for good...
Thanks for any input.
Hello
I had similar problem before (rooted). You can try to clear the cache in recovery mode.
+ plus power on button to clear cache.
It works for me afterward.
I cleared the cache already, not in recovery, and it seems fine so far.
Still, being able to uninstall the Kindle version and get the one on Google Play would be best....

Good to hear that
The Kindle in Fire OS has some advantages over the one in Google Play...
However, it might be better to have a unified interface for most people ( I am one of them) , please share if you can get rid of that and if any side effect available.....

What are the advantages of the Fire OS Kindle vs the Google Play one?
I'm still very hesitant to completely uninstall it with Titanium (if it's possible), fearing I could not be able to install it again after the fact... If it goes on like now without crashing or erasing my downloaded books, I'll live with the Fire OS Kindle for now...

1. It don't need you to login XD
2. Not sure if Newstand an exclusive feature to fire os kindle ?
I think the package name for both play and fire store might share same directory so they are killing each other.
I am not a hardcore android user so i wont' able to test all of these, but worst case just adb update the fireos again should be ok
I have a HD 10 (7th Gen) on Fire OS 5.4.1.0. I uninstalled the kindle app using titanium and didn't have a backup (whoops). I downloaded from playstore and it installs but does not open. Anyone have the original kindle app apk? Also have same problem with Amazon Shopping.
I rather not have to factory reset and root again. Only have a few frozen apps..Advertising ID, amazon.jackson19, devicesoftwareOTA, Email, Fire Keyboard (Asian, Chinese), Fire Launcher, Forced OTA, Silk browser, Silk content service, Special Offers, and Unified Search. Any suggestions???
