After a few months of the phone being off sitting in a pile, woke it up today. Left it last running a lineage 14 build from early 2017. Last time I had a sim in, it worked fine. Updated to lineage 14.1 latest official earlier. Put a sim in and no go. After that, tried going to a unofficial build recommended in the the thread. Still nothing, did a restore to the latest stock, flashed modem and all with success. But still no sim recognized. I've tried two known good working SIMs from two separate carriers. Both with no luck. Is it dead? or is there anything else I can try?
the same thing happened to me one month ago, I took it to repair shop and they told me that SIM reader was damaged.

Recently I flashed nitrogen is roms by soleintic,the ROM was working flawlessly without any issues...Today I went to service centre to get my device's speaker changed.After getting my device back volte was not working while previously it was working,So I thought changing swapping the sim slots would do the work I did the same and volte was working then but my data was not getting connected it was showing some random error in ipv6 and ipv4,then I again switched the sim slots and in slot 2 the data was working but volte was not working so I thought reflashing the ROM would fix the error.I reflashed the ROM again but the error was still there...So I decided to switch ROM..so I flashed PE ROM 5 mins ago but it's showing the same error pls help me I can't understand the real problem.

In short...Volte is working in slot 1 where as data is not working in it where as data is working in slot 2 but volte is not working there....The exact thing on phone info is
Ipv4:fail(2)
Ipv6:fail(2)
HTTP client test:Failed(IoException)
Flash miui rom and then flash any custom rom. I'm not sure where it'll fix the problem but chances are high

I have a problem, let's see if someone can help me. Here's what I did:
I installed LineageOS with no problems, and used it several days.
Then I wanted to try another ROM, so I installed CrDroid, but although the ROM worked OK, I had this problem: it did detect my SIM, but it couldn't find any networks. Tested on both SIM slots.
So I decided to a flash stock ROM, I flashed an 8.0 ROM, but the problem persists.
I think the problem lies that when chaning from Lineage to CrDroid, I changed the slots, and I'm not supposed to or something like that.
I hope someone can guide me to solve this.
Edit: After some panicking, it started working when I flashed latest stock Oreo build from march.
I have been fighting with this phone forever. It had Temasek Cyanogen 13 rom on it and everything worked fine. I wiped it and tried to install the Liquid Remix rom and I kept getting a restart when it attempted to connect the SIM card. I flashed a new modem and it was able to boot, but it never did detect the SIM. I tried the 8.1 Lineage rom, I tried flashing other modems and just about every other fix I could find. I even went back to the previous custom rom and still get the same issue. I am at my wits end! Anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong? Verizon Note 3.
Whats weird is that the Samsung Info app now shows my phone model is SM-N9005 when I know it is SM-N900V.

Flash the latest stock ROM to see if that solves the sim issue.

So I recently acquired an used S7 edge, so my first thought was hey I'm gonna flash lineage os on this, so I flash the unofficial lineage os 16 rom to it, after that I'mm setting it up I'm all done I put my sim in it and I'mm getting no signal, so I had no clue what was going on, i thought to myself maybe its just a bug from linage os 16, so I decided to see if lineage os 15.1 would work, so i flash it, when I get to the set up screen I get the SIM network unlock PIN message, so i google around and it tells me to call my carrier (which I did) but that didn't solve anything. I looked around some solutions online like dr.phone and some shady apps, nothing works, so I'm kinda desperate I don't know how to unlock my sim card, I tried re-flashing linage 16 but now my sim is not even being recognized anymore( before at least I got the no signal icon).
if anyone could give me any advice or tell me what to do it would be great, my knowledge goes from googling stuff to flashing a rom through twrp that's about it.

Personally I'd start from scratch, flash stock using Odin.
so you didnt check if phone is ok when u bought it?
check if you have IMEI in settings, check if its been on stolen list.
but first flash stock rom with sim inside

I installed stock firmware and it recognizes the sim, but in any rom I try to install its not recognized, so far I have tried lineage 16, 14.1, resurrection remix and pixel experience all of them to insert sim card. I really don't want to use stock firmware though its really bloaty.

It was my friend phone, and it was working when I bought it. When i flashed lineage os it didnt recognize that the sim was inserted.
i have a very similar problem
i have a very similar problem I tried to flash lineage os on my pnone but the sim would not even show just emergency calls only I restored the efs partition but still couldn't call or anything no network tried this with 16 and 15.1 both did the same very disappointing and no answers to be found around apparently this is a rare problem

it's not rare. you probably need to update radio, but make sure you have EFS backup or just go back to stock
