Hey all,
After a few months of the phone being off sitting in a pile, woke it up today. Left it last running a lineage 14 build from early 2017. Last time I had a sim in, it worked fine. Updated to lineage 14.1 latest official earlier. Put a sim in and no go. After that, tried going to a unofficial build recommended in the the thread. Still nothing, did a restore to the latest stock, flashed modem and all with success. But still no sim recognized. I've tried two known good working SIMs from two separate carriers. Both with no luck. Is it dead? or is there anything else I can try?
the same thing happened to me one month ago, I took it to repair shop and they told me that SIM reader was damaged.

Hi, sorry for just jumping in here. But, my galaxy s4 i9505, android 4.2.2, baseband version i9505XXUBMGA, has all of a sudden decided to not recognise the sim card its had in it for the past 2 months. Ive rooted this device but not played with it any further as im not sure what im doing. Ive tried the sim card in another phone and it works fine, other sim card from other devices also do not work in this phone. It first started showing no sim a couple of days ago but i restarted it and it came back on and it recognised it straight away but over night it totally stopped working. Ive googled and searched these forums and found no answer. Ive installed stock firmware and put it back to the state it was in when i received it with no luck. Im worried this may be a hardware failure and not a software one. Really hoping somebody is so kind to throw sme light on my problem. Thanks in advance
I had this on my i9505.
It came up "sim removed, mobile data will not be available until sim is re inserted".
Every sim i tried didnt work.
Had to send to samsung and they found a faulty sim reader. So they replaced it.

Let me preface this with some quick info about the phone. I bought it two years ago and it was SIM locked to Vodafone, Vodafone basically told the guy selling it to me it'd take 6 weeks to unlock so to get around this I went to a third party phone shop who told me they unlocked it but it wasn't until later I realised they had actually changed the IMEI of the device to get it to work. This was okay though, the phone worked fine and didn't give any real issues until two weeks ago.
Two weeks ago my N910F on Kyubi Note 5 Port ROM began telling me "not registered on network" (couldn't make calls, texts or use 3G), I went through standard troubleshooting with my carrier and it didn't appear to be on their end (the SIM worked in a Galaxy S 3 I have spare). I decided to update to 6.0.1 stock from Sammobile using Odin to see if it solved the issue, unfortunately it didn't. I was advised by something I found online to check if the IMEI was blacklisted on Swappa- turned out it was. I brought it back to the shop who had originally changed the IMEI. The guy in the shop told me it wasn't blacklisted but the reason for no service was because the device had a sum of "none" where the serial number should be when you dial *#06#.
He "fixed" the devices by changing the IMEI again and reverting to 4.4.4. He told me not to update it and everything would be fine. Obviously I wasn't too happy with being stuck on KitKat so he told me if I need to come back within 2 weeks after breaking it again that he'll fix it for free. Now the phone on 4.4.4 was giving a serial number and everything appeared fine.
I flashed 6.0.1 onto it and again the S/N became "none", but everything still more or less worked despite this. Since then I have Rooted it, flashed TWRP and installed Xposed. Once I installed Xposed problems began to arise again, the phone is reporting the SD card as corrupted repeatedly, everytime the phone turns on, once finished booting I will get a black screen with just a navigation bar and an empty battery icon (then after 2-3 mins it's fine), 3G wouldn't work at all, wifi passwords aren't being remembered, following boot I get the error message "process system is not responding would you like to close it".
Thankfully I made a backup in TWRP before putting Xposed on the device and restored the system to that this morning, which fixed the 3G issue but all of the other problems are still there (despite not having been there before Xposed was installed).
What should I try now? Should I go back to the guy again? Should I try revert to stock 4.4.4 or 5.1.1 through Odin? I'm really tempted to just cut my losses and sell it, but I love the phone so much. Any help is massively appreciated.

Changing the IMEI is illegal in most countries and therefore the discussion thereof is prohibited on XDA.

Hello,
i just got an old a5, the 2015 variant.
I was told it was from an colleague who wanted to throw it away since she wasnt able to surpass her mcafee security stuff and now its mine.
i made a wipe to factory settings and unsurprisingly, i got a clean phone. but it didnt recognize my sim.
so i tried loading the current lineageos on it, su it and everything worked. well..everything except for the sim.
i tried the last two days to get it running but to no avail. tried normal stock rom, older lineage, current lineage, some modem fixes i found here, nothing works. and im nearing the point of just throwing it away^^. samsung phone info leaves most of the csc-code field plank and in settings, i get invalid network mode (-1) in the networks section
Can anyone help me (or the mobile)?
solved it myself. for those who care: i put some ducktape on the back of the nano sim and carefully (theres more pressure on the card and holder) put the whole construction into the sim slot 1.
Even though noone answered id like to thank anyone who cared.
Hi, my OP2 was working with LOS 16 unofficial. But when I transitioned to the official LOS 16 a few days ago the sim was not recognized (no sim issue).
So, I went and flashed OOS 3.6.1. Same problem, no sim detected. I flashed the firmware on top, no difference.
At this point I have flashed at least 5 ROMs (including the one that was working for me previously) none of which can detect my sim. All clean installs.
Amazingly, while my sim is not detected in my OP2, the same sim is detected in my Pixel, and the Pixel's sim is detected in my OP2.
I removed the sim code, but that didn't fix the problem.
This is strange because the SIM was working on my OP2 before I upgraded from LOS16 unofficial to the official, but flashing back to the unofficial does not fix the problem.
Any other ideas for me to try?
A couple of beers to whoever helps me solve this problem.
Thank you for your help.
I am having the same problem, had two sims in my OP2, only one them is being detected, the sim that detected works on both OP2 slots, the one that doesnt get detected works fine on another one, hope someone can help us

Yes, I've flashed back to stock as well as LOS 15, neither recognized my SIM.
any luck on finding a fix for this?
Hey,
So I recently acquired an used S7 edge, so my first thought was hey I'm gonna flash lineage os on this, so I flash the unofficial lineage os 16 rom to it, after that I'mm setting it up I'm all done I put my sim in it and I'mm getting no signal, so I had no clue what was going on, i thought to myself maybe its just a bug from linage os 16, so I decided to see if lineage os 15.1 would work, so i flash it, when I get to the set up screen I get the SIM network unlock PIN message, so i google around and it tells me to call my carrier (which I did) but that didn't solve anything. I looked around some solutions online like dr.phone and some shady apps, nothing works, so I'm kinda desperate I don't know how to unlock my sim card, I tried re-flashing linage 16 but now my sim is not even being recognized anymore( before at least I got the no signal icon).
if anyone could give me any advice or tell me what to do it would be great, my knowledge goes from googling stuff to flashing a rom through twrp that's about it.
Thanks.

Personally I'd start from scratch, flash stock using Odin.
so you didnt check if phone is ok when u bought it?
check if you have IMEI in settings, check if its been on stolen list.
but first flash stock rom with sim inside

I installed stock firmware and it recognizes the sim, but in any rom I try to install its not recognized, so far I have tried lineage 16, 14.1, resurrection remix and pixel experience all of them to insert sim card. I really don't want to use stock firmware though its really bloaty.

i have a very similar problem I tried to flash lineage os on my pnone but the sim would not even show just emergency calls only I restored the efs partition but still couldn't call or anything no network tried this with 16 and 15.1 both did the same very disappointing and no answers to be found around apparently this is a rare problem

it's not rare. you probably need to update radio, but make sure you have EFS backup or just go back to stock
