The only way to do that is lock your bootloader again.

Yes it's hideous and distracting. But for now they didn't find out how to get rid of it. It's probably part of the bootloader which can't be touched unless you want a total brick.

Yes, it's part of secure boot.
It's a requirement.
The screen is there to make sure some nefarious program does not unlock the BL and root your phone without you knowing.
Can't get rid of it.

Yes after rooting you have to unlock it using boot unlocker app.

NO, I meant AFTER.
See actually I rooted my phone through framaroot and boot unlocker it took hardly 5mins.
Root through Framaroot and then I unlocked the boot as it was giving a message "Waiting for root access"
Don't know about Toolkits. Sorry.

its two different types of unlocked. the nexus 4 is carrier unlocked, no matter where you buy it. but if you are unlocking the bootloader, thats a completely different thing that you are unlocking.

One more question does rooting with tool-kit and giving the device superuser cause issues with updates from google?
I really don't wanna run a custom rom.
also if I check the button USE CUSTOM RECOVERY it will use CWM right?
If u want OTA, don't use custom recovery. Only unlocking and rooting don't mess with OTA.

This is wrong having a custom recovery will not prevent you from receiving or installing the ota update. Its actually better to use a custom recovery because when you update it breaks root and twrp will ask you if you want it restored
From my BLACKED OUT N4
I dont want to unlock bootloader yet. So i wanted to root the device safely without flashing anything.
You simply can't flash any zips unless on a custom recovery and for that you have to unlock bootloader.
BTW the first thing i did upon getting my op5 was to unlock the bootloader.
"Root without flashing anything."

You're more likely to brick your phone using a janky and sketchy no-unlocking method than using the documented and manufacturer-recommended method.

Rooting touches your device just as much. Unlocking the bootloader is like using the key to open a door to get into a building. Trying to do it without unlocking is like using a sledgehammer to break in through the door.

Impossible, its like wanting to make an omelet without breaking an egg
You can just lock the bootloader again and noone would know you'd unlocked it. One Plus isn't like Samsung!

If there is a security flaw it's possible to root it. It's been happening with phones like sony for ages

Yes but one-click root apps are very unreliable in general and most don`t even work nowadays (especialy system less root). Unlocking the bootloader and flashing Magisk or superSU with TWRP is the best and safest method atm.

Sorry, quoted the wrong user meant the post of @xabierd
Mate, if you don't want to replace your recovery with TWRP, go to fastboot, make sure you have your phone discoverable and use the command "fastboot boot recovery.zip" - recovery.zip being TWRP. This will just boot into TWRP where you can flash magisk or supersu. This won't replace your stock recovery.
You will still need to unlock your bootloader however...
I just wondered if its possible to lock the OnePlus 5 bootloader with a custom ROM installed?
I only ask as I know it was possible with the OnePlus 2 previously.
Thanks! :good:
This is more out of interest but why would you need to lock bootloader after flashing a custom rom?

My guess is to bypass the annoying screen before booting. Don't question why they wish to do it just help them do it....
The only way I know how to lock the bootloader is to simply go into the Developers option and disable OEM unlocking. I never done it myself so not sure if this will wipe your phone or not. Just back everything up just in case.

Well it was actually possible with the OnePlus 3. So just asking if it's possible one the 5 because that unlocked bootloader loading screen is irritating lol
I just flashed latest Nougat and wiped my device. I am trying to find out how to re-lock BL. It seems that Fastboot oem lock doesn't work. Anyone know the function to use?

I am trying to sell it. If I leave bootloader unlocked, it may deter buyers. Are you saying relocking bootloader when it's 100% stock doesn't work? Why?

If you are truly 100% stock... Then sure... Lock away...
I'm not going to spell it out... For fear of the stupid...
But substitute 'flashing' for 'oem'...

If you just flashed Oreo, then it is beta.
Typically you don't lock the boot loader with beta software running.
If something goes wrong, and it can, you potentially won't be able to flash a downgrade.
I understand your reasoning, but it's normally a bad idea.
Although, essential doesn't instruct you to unlock the bootloader to install the Oreo beta builds.
I side loaded mine through the stock recovery and only unlocked a few weeks afterwards.

I am set to unlock the bootloader after permanently unlocking this phone. I am worried of the warrning that they talk about concerning the warranty. Is there a way to lock the bootloader up before sending it off for warranty to T-Mobile?
You know you can just restore the phone back to stock, and relock the bootloader right?

No, they will never know. I sent phones in that had root, fastbooted all the original firmware and they were fixed and returned to me. Now if you were talking Samsung, that's a different story.
