I am set to unlock the bootloader after permanently unlocking this phone. I am worried of the warrning that they talk about concerning the warranty. Is there a way to lock the bootloader up before sending it off for warranty to T-Mobile?
You know you can just restore the phone back to stock, and relock the bootloader right?

Also if I flash the international version on my T-Mobile phone, will I be able to flash the T-Mobile version back?

No, they will never know. I sent phones in that had root, fastbooted all the original firmware and they were fixed and returned to me. Now if you were talking Samsung, that's a different story.

Also, is there a way to skip the 7 day wait for the email from OnePlus to be able to unlock the bootloader?

It is possible to lock the bootloader, but you have to be working at HTC to do it.

...for now?
I reckon they have some sort of flashing box that just obliterates everything and replaces it with official software.
dont they just have to flash back the original spl, which we dont have?

That's what i think.
Unless someone can get that, no luck. Though it's probably a good thing that we can't relock the bootloaders.
I have a major problem, I need to know if it will be possible to flash a custom rom on a nexus 6p. It seems that it will be hard because of that new bootloader.

What do you mean? Any bootloader version on this device can be unlocked.

Sorry, I'm new to this stuff. I thought they can change the bootloader when you upgrade. Thanks for the help though

The bootloader does get updated. But you can unlock any bootloader, and updating it doesn't lock it again. Take a look at my guide:

Oh, because i was afraid of the phone won't boot because of the android n won't boot if the phone has a unlocked bootloader.

Nope, nothing like that to worry about. The locked/unlocked status won't stop it from booting.
Thanks. I can now upgrade in peace
Before I get this phone. Does anyone on AT&T know if they white-listed this device for VoLTE?
Also, can we re-lock the bootloader like Nexus Devices or once the bootloader is unlocked it can never be re-locked again?
Thanks

You can relock the bootloader if you want to unroot and return to stock.

Thanks I posted the question there..as I did not get a definitive answer. When I say relock, i want the behavior like the Nexus phones where it will do another wipe after the fastboot lock and fastboot mode shows correct lock status. Used to have one plus 1 and once unlocked you could never relock the bootloader..

AT&T only supports VoLTE on AT&T branded phones. So unfortunately, no.
Sent from my OnePlus 3T using XDA Labs

par for the course w/ that company. I think they have taken the mantle from Verizon as being the biggest jerks. If it wasn't for their iPhone business, they'd be sunk. They have done a fabulous job of raising the prices of all things DirecTV too. ugh.
I unlocked my bootloader, officially. And basically, I got scared when I have read from somewhere that my warranty is void and I will not receive any FOTA. Is it true? Can I relock it officially? Help.
You can relock but you already lost your warranty
oh fckk. I'll just put in my mind that warranty is nothing lol. But if I relock, will it wipe all of my data?

If you relock, can they detect that it's been unlocked?
And what if you use a non-official unlock tool?

If you unlock officially, your phone will be registered in their system as unlocked device. So they won't track your device status anymore. They won't know if you relocked your device or not (since there's no official relock method).
If you unlock unofficially, then won't know your device is unlocked in the first place. So you can relock and claim warranty anytime.
Thanks for the clarification!

Then I presume you need an internet connection to perform the official unlock (otherwise they wouldn't get notified). What if you unlock while being totally offline?

How safe/reliable do you think is the unofficial method? (We are talking about this, right?)

I guess the unlocker app won't work offline.

Nothing is 100% safe. Anything could go wrong anytime. But most people unlocked by the unofficial way without any problem (I did too). So I'd say it's very safe.

There's no method to unlock the bootloader on this phone, correct? I mean, none that actually work that I can do within say, the next 24 hours?

If it is a US phone then yes, there is no method to unlock the bootloader.

Unfortunately, US version Samsung phones have a firm bootloader that can't be unlocked.

That is unfortunate, it instantly devalues the phone from my perspective. Thx for the reply.
