I want to downgrade my S7 Edge to a lower Android Security Patch, so i downloaded, the Android 8.0.0 Version from the 30. May 2018. Currently my device runs on Android 8..0.0 with Security Patch 1 Jan. 2019
Im Using Odin3 v3.13.1, but each time I am trying to flash my device, it shows me "Fail" or doesnt even start.
I have tried using BL, AP, CP and CSC:

Then i left BL out:
Then i tried only AP:
The ending always put out: Complee (Write) operation failed.
I dont know what i can do. I followed every instruction i could find. My device is not rooted, and i dont want it to be rooted.

Most probably the reason for that is you can't downgrade, it seems your bootloader is newest and can't be downgraded back . This is most obvious thing

According to this Guide on this Forum "[Guide] How to downgrade from Android Oreo 8.0 to 7.0 (Non-rooted)" it shall work. I followed every step. Even if i try to flash the device, without making the mark at BL, it doesnt work. I always get fail, or i get stuck on Setup Connection.

You could flash older rom like nougat only if install TWRP aka rooting your phone and installing custom rom , officially u can't go back anymore .

Hm I don't know if u can downgrade your bootloader with TWRP ,it could be possible but can't tell for sure.
What I meant is you can use nougat only as custom rom.

Actually many apps are working just fine , thanks to magisk it can hide your root so u can use banking app,Pokemon go and many other as you have magisk .
As u seen it u can't go back via official way. Stay on latest stock without root ,no other way I'm afraid
Good luck

Hi Folks
My partner has just got the S5 Active and she loves it..
But now she would like to update from 4.4.2.. Phone says she has latest rom so my questions are this
1)What is the latest official rom for the Active?
2)Whats the BEST root method?
3)What Custom roms are suitable?
3)Finally what is the best route to take to flash a CUSTOM rom?
looking forward to your responses
regards
Lohtse
1) Here you can find the latest TW stock rom:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Android Lollipop is available for the S5 Active. You can download the latest Firmware and flash it via Odin. You don't need root for that.
2) My preferred root method is flashing CF auto root via Odin. After that I install another recovery like TWRP
3) Nobody can answer that. Try and find it out (perform a full wipe incl cache before you install a custom rom)
4) This steps: root, recovery, full wipe, custom rom, and at least if you want and need that: custom kernel

Thank you for the help...
finally got it sorted after reading around 9-10 different guides... all of which had little bits missing
now she's a happy bunny with LP on her Active and I'm a tired old fart with droopy eyes!!!!!
Just need a custom recovery now!!
Congratulations! How you solved it?
Yeah recovery is the same problem. It exists no recovery for the G870A
Two things that I found that allowed me to sort the Active which was mentioned
firstly to allow Flashfire to work you had too set clock back past 1/15/15
and you had to also set flashfire to boot into download to allow you to flash the G870A_OC5_Bootloader.tar.md5 file via Odin on the pc.. once I did these it worked...
Just depends which guide you read to find a COMPLETE one....
Damn that sounds very tricky

Not really just no two guides the same.... soon as I noticed the minor differences it was easy.
1) root with towel root copy stock LP(rooted version)
2) Install and set date to 1/1/15 then open Flashfire
3)Flash Stock rooted LP using flashfire making sure you have flashfire set to boot to download when finished
4) open Odin PC and connect S5Active
5)Point Opins AP slot to location of the G870A_OC5_Bootloader.tar.md5 file
6) Flash and reboot and your done...
MAJOR issue was the flashfire issue once found issue and set it as stated above I was Up and running after 10minutes Just had spent 4 hours failing before I notice and figured out what the issues was...
Simple really.... Well it was in the end lol
Ok, I have got G900F and I know EXACTLY what I want, but cant find the threads of reference cause this has become ridiculous, so many versions of the phone, so many topics, so many threads that are basically the same ..
I have G900F with android 5.0, baseband version G900FXXU1BOJ3
1. I want to root it, is this thread ok ? >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699648
2. I want to ask if there is stock rooted marshmallow ? and if there is, should I OTA and then root, or some other way ?
question number 2 is unanswerable using search. both XDA search and google. You only get tangled in unneeded information and chaos. Please help me as I have lost 2 hours clicking links that I dont need ..
1.) Recommended way to root is to flash TWRP 3.0.2.0 (Custom recovery), then flash SuperSU from TWRP
You can also try flashing CF Auto Root with ODIN 3.10.7
http://download.chainfire.eu/397/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.zip
But that doesn't always work and can cause a soft brick, needing the stock ROM flashed again to fix
Or if you don't want to trip KNOX, downgrade to KitKat, root with an app called TowelRoot, then upgrade using an app called FlashFire iirc
2.) No, you need to root Marshmallow yourself, using the TWRP & SuperSU method
You can OTA upgrade to Marshmallow, Flash TWRP 3.0.2.0, then Flash SuperSU Systemless 2.72 beta (Or whichever beta is the latest atm)
If you're not bothered about KNOX, just flash TWRP and SuperSU
You can download the latest MarshMallow stock ROM for the G900F using a tool called SamFirm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Flash with ODIN
Ok, found out some other stuff in the meantime
1. I obviously dont have OTA option, and now I see that the version people flash via odin is not official, but Shri Lanka .. ? is there an actual oficial international version of 6.0 ?
2. I started following mega-thread for S5 and downloaded ODIN and started downloading CWM but I guess I should listen to you - I would root it with TWRP, I mean the version I am on now
I will wait for better reactions for 6.0 as I have read a lot of 6.0 feedback thread and people are complaining .. maybe noobs, but still.
thanks again man, you simplified it for me
will report once I root current version
If you are stock (Not rooted or custom recovery) you have OTA option
Otherwise set SamFirm tool up like this, and you'll get the United Kingdom Unbranded 6.0.1 (Change the region to whichever one you want)

I've been running 6.0.1 for a while now on my G900F, and I get better battery life (6-8 hours SoT) and much better performance
Easy enough to flash back to whichever ROM you want, the G900F is unlocked
Make a nandroid backup in TWRP, then you can restore that to exactly the way the phone was when you created the backup

I've posted twice how to get the ROM faster using that SamFirm tool
Upgrade your laptop to 7 or later
I stumbled across this file on the net and thought I would give it a spin.
I was on Firmware N910VVRU2CPF3 dated June 2016
I flashed the "Combination file" using Odin 3.10.7
COMBINATION_VZW_FA44_N910VVRU2APB1_VZW2APB1_2932719_REV00_user_mid_noship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
I then flashed N910VVRU2BPA1 firmware from here
It worked and now I am on 5.1.1
I wanted to go lower but, because of the Binary being fused at 2, I was unable.
Perhaps someone can find a way to get back to 4.4.4 with this so we can root with CF Auto Root.
For those that might be confused on how to use this..
1. Place your phone in Download mode
2. Open Odin on your PC, select the AP button, and then select the combination file that you just downloaded..
3. After install the phone will reboot and it will be in a Factory repair or test mode.. feel free to tinker and explore.
4. Power off your phone and go back to download mode.
5. Go back into Odin and flash your desired firmware which would be 5.1.1 and above.

Perhaps ?
I have seen several warnings not to take any updates past a certain date on Android 6.0.1, otherwise you cannot go back, as the newer firmware prevents any downgrading in lieu of "security patch".
The Combination file enables you to install any firmware or newer than its specific binary.
In running this you will notice a bare bones KitKat 4.4.4 AOSP UI.
The Binary is fused for loading only firmware that includes KNOX, as it was first introduced as of 5.1.1 for the SM-N910V
Which is my belief why it is such a secret to go back.

unnecessary ! you can flash back to lollipop(5.1.1 bpa1) with Odin without the need of this binary and Knox hit the scene on jellybean final bud (4.3)
@mojoswagger1980
Please show me 4.3 firmware for the SM-N910V
The Verizon Note 4 Jumped from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 then to 5.1.1
Per Samsung the update from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 installed Knox on the SM-N910V.
This Binary is very useful ..
But glad to know you don't like that I posted it.
Lol the sm 900v (note3) premiered on 4.3 essentially the same phone seriously. For the record you said Knox kept us from downgrading as of lolipop I then corrected that statement with mine . device model firmware doesn't apply given that Knox was universaly added to all android devices at that time

Check to make sure you are not using a USB3 port. I always have issues with USB3.
Those of you that have downgraded back to 5.1.1. I have a question for you.
While on 6.0.1, did you have problems with your GPS with it losing signal? IF SO, did downgrading back to 5.1.1 solve this problem?
I've been having problems with my GPS for quite awhile now and I can't figure out if the problem is related to 6.0.1, loose screws or oxidation of the contacts inside of my phone.
Know what? I think all my laptop usb are usb3. I'll try my older laptop and let you know
i needed a pit file for the note 4 vzw i added that and erased the partition via odin and now im flashing 5.1.1 no errors this time

GPS Signal I believe is hardware related and I have that problem as well..
This appears to be the most feasible approach to fixing it and I will be attempting this shortly as it is not the same phone model but possibly the same cause for the issue.

Ignore all those video guides and just follow the guide from the TWRP thread. Yes wiping data means all your apps will be deleted. You can't get around this, and if you try to the device won't boot.

It fails because you cannot downgrade bootloader, hence the Odin fail at boot.img. you must flash the current or newer BL unfortunately. Have you tried to flash twrp + magisk for root?

The effort put forth by Extreme Syndicate is great except some of the disclaimers aren't promising.
This method will work if you are on Android 9 Pie but will put you on Android 7 nougat. There is no root for Android 9 Pie
You will not be able to use normal magisk
You will not be able to flash custom rom like Lineage or any other AOSP roms
You cannot flash custom boot images or recovery images such as TWRP
The whole reason to root, in my case - any way, is to put a custom recovery on such as TWRP and then flash a custom ROM to get rid of the **** Samsung provides.
In my case, I just downgrade to 7 nougat rom, then couldn't do much, so I got to think. I just wanted to revived this sucker!
Plug it back to odin and reinstall the lastest firmware from sammobile.
I'm not an expert on any of this, but like a said just bringing back this sucker, im in peace.
I can't stand Samsung's software so I'm "glad" in the sense that I bought the phone for experimenting and not to use on a daily basis because if I had to use One UI daily I'd descend into madness over how much I can't stand it.
Having said that, attempting to root it, put a custom recovery and rom on it are very frustrating tasks when Samsung's Knox and other code gets in the way to the point of everything in Odin failing.
"Food for thought" - How can your device be "your" device when it clearly and evidently locks you out of doing whatever you want on it?
I'm not sure if there is a community for anti-bloatware but if there is I'm just as much a part of it as I am with right to repair.
