Dorimanx kernel undervolt support - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm sorry to bother you guys with this but does anyone know how to adjust undervolt values? Dorimanx has not exactly specified how to so if someone can help it would be appreciated.

afaik - Dorimanx wasn't a fan of undervolting, and if i'm honest - you won't achieve anything by doing it - you can only make your device more unstable...
if you want to save more battery - better set your CPU to a lower max value and ajdust some other settings in the Dorimanx tuning app that comes with the kernel...

[Q] Is it possible to overclock above 768mhz?

just curious really as my phone never gets warm or anything running at 768mhz the battery life is also pretty good.
hey,
i don´t think so, because in the worst case your phone will take damage. But this ~770 mhz are about 250 more then before. Im happy with this xDDD
that is true haha, i just dont see it doing much harm if the phone will run stable higher at the same voltage or the tiniest bit higher
No, that's the limit of the MSM7225. (Achieved by adjusting the PLL to its max, any higher will overrun the limits of the chip, and cause it to most likely fail)
i would like to know, if its very bad for the phone, if you let it permanently run with full speed. Ok, if it will get very hot.. thats clear, but is it bad if you have the 77mhz and it is for example in silent mode, or when you listen to some music. Should you ever take some possible speed away, if its not need? (thx)
The hardware life will probably be reduced. By how much, it cannot be said definitively, but, I am pretty sure that by the time the hardware fails because of overclocking, the phone will have been retired long back.
What you are requesting (Dynamically changing speed) is exactly what Speed Governors (Performance, Internative, OnDemand etc) do. If you are on CM7, use Smartass Governor, because it's the "smartest". If not, then use Interactive governor.
i use ginger yoshi... and sometimes it sais that the sd was removed. Could overclock be a reason for this?
I dont think so. I got the same issue once, and formatting the SDCard fixed it.
ok i will try it thanks

I have a sense rom on the wildfire, so I will try Interactive Governor. Do I still need SetCPU in order to use it?

To use overclocking and governers on sense roms, oc kernel and application like setcpu are must. Setcpu has governers too.

Even if it a custom rom? I am using JokerDroid 4.2.

Depends whether the rom has inbuilt oc kernel or not.

Looked at JokerDroid's thread and it says about version 4.2
■ Kernel : nFinity Kernel
■ Build Number : 2.37.415.1
■ CPU Overclock : 710 Mhz

So this means it has an oc kernel?

Yes, it does, and it is overclocked to 710 MHz, by default.

overclocking?

does anyone know if TF 101 can be overclocked?
oops nvm . spoke too soon.
also interested in overclocking Asus Slider, how to change max. frequency to make it changeable with "CPU Master"???

Read some of the posts in the development forum. You're gonna need to root, install a custom recovery, then a kernel that can be overclocked.

[Q] Difference between Bricked and Franco's GPU OC methods?

I have vaguely heard of showp talking about how with his kernel, the GPU speed is set at install because a whole bunch of things need to be switched out, but I also know of Franco's interface being able to change GPU clock speed on the fly. Can anyone explain the difference between the two? And advantages/disadvantages of the two, if there are any?
Thanks,

Kernel settings

Could someone explain me what is hotplug and how it works? I also would like to know which I/O Scheduler should I use to improve battery life and what gives Read Ahead Buffer.
Thanks to everyone who could teach me something new

Check AK Kernel thread.
The second post contains links that explain each option.

In regards to schedulers.. It depends on what you do with the phone (i.e. How much time you spend on it, if you multitask or use it for CPU-RAM hungry apps).
In any case the answer will probably revolve around SIO, FIOPS, DEADLINE and ROW (In no particular order).
Lastly, keep in mind that there are certain schedulers that do not play well with specific governors. If in doubt, leave the default kernel configuration as it is.
Happy reading.

when your cpu hotplugs, its turning cores off and on, as it needs to use them.

Pls help me out in getting a very high benchmark score (testing purpose)

I did everything that was mentioned by aldoblaga with prometheus kernel used the same saved config.
But either i get low benchmark score or normal score when i tried with different roms when not throottling .
So pls help me out in overclocking my s7 edge (new to this stuff) so each and every step help including aroma settings, saved config , rom recommendation, and kernel version recommendation.
I feel very sad when other people s7 get very high benchmark whereas i dont know how to get those scores (not a competition)(i need to get high scores like 160000 for testing purpose so someone pls help me out in this)
Thank you in advance
My highest score was like 147k. I don't think that going above that is safe. Once I was running benchmark on my laptop(no overclock. Just stress test) and my GPU blew up! Later they fixed it fortunately for free, cause it was on warranty. But still. Overclock it 1Hz and it might be gone a second later. Be careful.
Instructions: flash Voltaqe kernel and with Synapse set everything(cpu&gpu, try to avoid other things) to high and run benchmark. Also in my tests lowering resolution lowered benchmark score by ~10k. Which is weird but yeah. Have fun but be REALLY CAREFUL.

Thank you so much mahn...
You just saved me .
As u told i flashed voltaqe kernel but as i m really new to this overclocking pls tell me what settings i have to change and by how much or u could save ur config so that i can restore the config or just do a screen recording and show me how do u change and by how much u increase it.
Thank u so much

Just change CPU speed max/min as much as You can (don't touch voltage settings) . And then go to GPU tab and do the same. Also You can change CPU gov to performance.
Just play with 3-4 first Synapse tabs(except the voltage). I can't take screenshots unfortunately cause OnTheEdge has changed their kernel to HydraKernel. And if I flashed Voltaqe kernel I would break magisk root. But like I said. Change cpu&gpu frequencies to maximum if You want(just don't touch the voltage ).

Yay! . I just checked and nope. But Voltaqe kernel is great. So don't worry.
