Can't root LineageOS 16 - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
I've tried all the rooting tools, but can't get root. Apps like F.lux need root, but I can't get root. I've tried supersu, magisk, one click root etc NOTHING IS WORKING.
Please help.
PS I'm still a newbie to all this.

The LineageOS 16.0 for the klte device is still Unofficial and actually considered Unstable as Haggertk is working out the Firmware.
Unfortunately the Apps still can't access the Superuser on this firmware at the present time.
The following thread is also the one that's specific to the Unofficial LineageOS 16.0 for the klte device for support and guidance.

Thank you for replying. I did try 15 (Oreo) and was able to root it - but my 4G didn't work!. Hopefully 16 (Pie) can one day soon(?) be rooted.

Yes Pie ROMs seem to be tricky. I can tell you that what seems to work for me on my 900T with latest baseband is to:
*Flash latest magisk.zip from twrp
*Reboot
*Install magisk manager apk (it does not seem to be installed through flashing the zip on pie ROMs)
This has usually allowed me access to root on my phone, however as @Ibuprophen has stated, Pie ROMs and specifically LOS16 are beta/unstable and this procedure may not work for you

I still can't root LineageOS 16. If there could be an announcement when LineageOS 16 is: 1) deemed stable/ready and 2) can be rooted, I would be most grateful.

So far there's no Official release on the LineageOS 16.0.
I'm pretty confident that when they roll out the Official builds, it will be announced on a new Blog from the Lineage Team within the following link.

Thanks for the info. Will existing LineageOS 16 users get newer versions via the updates or will newer versions need to be re-installed on the phone?

Based upon the 14.1 & 15.1 releases, it looks like the Lineage Team had implemented the ability to upgrade their Android Versions (Official versions).
Regarding the devices that specifically get the releases are all based upon the Official Lineage Team Maintainer(s) confidence in the stability of the Upgraded Release.
I highly doubt that they will ever release all of them at once. They typically release them in batches. They will likely release them anywhere from a few devices to several devices initially, and then more of them gets released over time.
Also keep in mind that some devices may have a type of EOL (End Of Life) with LineageOS 15.1 being the last build for them. This is all based upon a handful of reasons.

Official Lineage 16.0 now been released for KLTE devices
It has su zip bundled under extras and will root your device when you flash with your ROM / gapps/ etc

The Lineage Team Maintainers has identified an issue with the LineageOS 16.0 for the klte and the AddonSU itself not working properly for many of the klte device variants.
It looks like the next LineageOS 16.0 release for the klte device should have this addressed.

Just an FYI... The LineageOS Firmware has all been Nightly releases. Nightly releases are, technically, considered having possible issues but, the LineageOS Nightly Firmware has been much more stable than the former CyanogenMod Nightly's. LineageOS has not released any "Snapshot" builds. Those are, technically, considered Stable but, LineageOS has been up and running for just under a year +/- so I'm just being patient with them. I hope that I had answered your question okay via text... Amy further questions regarding the LineageOS, from the thread above, would be best posted on that thread for a better answer. It seems as though the Official LineageOS maintainers/developers has been fairly active within that thread. Hello, I have just decided to give Lineage OS a go on my LG G4, and I have noticed that it is no longer maintained due to a bug in the encryption. Is this the only reason that it is no longer maintained (I don't mind building it unofficially and using it if this is the only bug) Thanks

I don't have this specific device myself but, It looks like the last Official Lineage Team Maintainer no longer has this device any longer that resulted in it being dropped Officially by LineageOS as seen on the following link.

I'd love to have android 10 on my Nokia 6! Are you targeting the 2017 Nokia 6, or the newer 6.1? I'd love to help but I don't know much about android roms/rom porting. I have a TA-1033 as my daily driver, so I could test builds on that (if they don't brick my phone :^) ). Good luck!

Hello, during the lockdown I've tried to port Lineage OS 17.1 to our device, unfortunately after the build process I wasn't able to make it boot successfully. The source trees that I used are on Github. If I'm being honest, the Nokia 6 2017 is one of the best mid range phones out there and it is sad that only one developer is taking interest in this phone. I think it's because of the robust bootloader and more. Yes, Nokia messed up so bad on the Android Pie update. WE NEED MORE DEVELOPERS ON THIS DEVELOPMENT.
