Strange fingerprint scanner unlocks - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hi, does anyone else have this issue of the fingerprint scanner recognizing all fingers when only thumbs registered? Its definitely slower but always unlocks my phone.

Are you sure it doesn't unlock because of the face unlock feature? Just checking...

Okay I've deleted my fingerprints and registered again and it's working correctly now. Only thumbs recognised, how strange

Screen Off and Lock Apps break Nexus Imprint

Whenever I can I try to use software to lock my Nexus 6P (running Marshmallow 6.0 with Nexus Imprint Fingerprint Scanner) (to save the power button) - all of the non-root apps that I've tried including "Screen Off and Lock" lock the device, but then I cannot unlock it again using the fingerprint sensor. I have to manually input my pattern/password after touching the sensor, which kind of defeats the purpose. For some reason Android will require a password and not let you unlock with fingerprint if you turn off and lock the screen with such apps. Any thoughts? Any fix ideas? I've already emailed Katecca the Developer of "Screen Off and Lock" asking for help.
Waking/Unlocking is so effortless on the N6P with the fingerprint scanner i'm looking for an effortless way to lock it without having to press the power button. And i like my 2 minute screen lock timeout so i don't want to shorten it. A "Double Tap" or other gesture to lock and off the screen would be great. Especially for the N6P which is a HUGE phone the power button is not always easy to navigate to - especially with the volume buttons so close.

no wonder i couldn't find it! it's in the 5X section! thank you!
i would love to be able to turn the screen off and lock with the fingerprint scanner. hence - we would never have to touch the power button.
Try using the app Lockscreen in playstore ... The developers name is WangQi

is there any reason you believe that this App will play any better with Nexus Imprint vs. all of the other ones?

I'm using Nova Prime launcher with greenify to double tap to sleep and fingerprint scanner to unlock works a treat
Not using power button at all to power off or on

Same issue as Gekko2. This is not a solution if you enable fingerprints.

As I only wanted to lock the phone with double tap i didn't see the point in trying double tap to wake as I use fingerprint to wake
On nova launcher it only works on the prime paid for version

So can anyone else confirm.... I don't have 6p yet
Does setting up greenify double tap to lock and using fingerprint to unlock work properly?
Using nova or any other launcher that allows for gestures

Greenify Developer himself says it doesn't work. claiming that it does is just wasting everyone's time -

Question: I installed Greenify on my Nexus 6P looking to use the "Hibernate + Lock" shortcut on double tap. It works fine, except I can't unlock it by using the fingerprint scanner! It forces me to enter my PIN no matter what. Any ideas?

That's a known issue since Lollipop, due to lacking an API to lock the device without breaking the Smart Lock. I think the finger-print unlock works the same way as Smart Lock. See

And you don't have to enter a pin? We know it works but having to enter a pin is the issue
Also.... What steps? Is there a workaround?
Thanks

Home button getting scratched

Has anyone elses home button started to get wore out or like scratches on it? I noticed mine today. It doesnt affect the finger print unlock but im afraid that it may.
Is there any cover for it that would still allow for finger print unlock? Thanks

Skn sells body protectors. Or also touch button protectors? I found nothing about this last on site.

How do you unlock with just fingerprint?

I have messed around the settings a ton and I just can't seem to find the option if there even is one. I want to just unlock the phone by placing my finger on the scanner. Is there also any way to diable turning the screen on with the always on home button?
Mine unlocks with finger print.. no buttons just finger the scanner from the always on screen

Using nova launcher instand lock? This will require a pin insert.

S8 fingerprint lag?

Please have a look at this video as it is driving me insane. Is this lag normal? it doesnt do it all the time and sorry the video isn't the best. The apps seem to reload or "jump". I thought it was just on homescreen but it seems to do it in apps too.
https://youtu.be/RVu2RzM_iW4
Even my S8 lags while unlocking. Sometimes it wont detect my fingerprint. I have registered only my index fingers (each finger has been registered twice, to increase accuracy).
Would be nice if someone suggests a fix to make it better.
Mine does the same thing. It was not a fast fingerprint reader to begin with.

Mine does exactly the opposite. Its always responsive , faster than iris regognition and it unlocks without having to tap screen or by pressing the power button. Actually one thing i actaully love and its practical a.f si the fingerprint sensor. Even the fact that is positioned on the back.
Here too. It acts like my phone doesn't even know my finger is on the scanner.
It usually works, but sometimes I have to unlock it with the password because of this issue.
Very annoying.

Disable the fingerprint scanner

I am supposed to be getting my 6T within the next day or so. After I root it, if I want to disable the fingerprint scanner, is that a native feature in Oxygen? If not, is there a root level app or module that will allow us to turn the scanner on and off?
