Disable the fingerprint scanner - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I am supposed to be getting my 6T within the next day or so. After I root it, if I want to disable the fingerprint scanner, is that a native feature in Oxygen? If not, is there a root level app or module that will allow us to turn the scanner on and off?

Im in favor of just using a gesture (swipe) or something like that. Is that an option?

If I root, will the fingerprint scanner work?

Quick question guys, I read mixed feedbacks on this one.
I really love openness of Android and I always prefer root access on my Nexus devices. But I have read at a few places that, if we root our nexus 6p, fingerprint scanners might not work. Is it true? Will there be a possible solution to make fingerprint sensor work even after rooting in future?
It works on my note 4 I don't see why it wouldn't. On the nexus

Should work a treat! Cool feature.

Screen Off and Lock Apps break Nexus Imprint

Whenever I can I try to use software to lock my Nexus 6P (running Marshmallow 6.0 with Nexus Imprint Fingerprint Scanner) (to save the power button) - all of the non-root apps that I've tried including "Screen Off and Lock" lock the device, but then I cannot unlock it again using the fingerprint sensor. I have to manually input my pattern/password after touching the sensor, which kind of defeats the purpose. For some reason Android will require a password and not let you unlock with fingerprint if you turn off and lock the screen with such apps. Any thoughts? Any fix ideas? I've already emailed Katecca the Developer of "Screen Off and Lock" asking for help.
Waking/Unlocking is so effortless on the N6P with the fingerprint scanner i'm looking for an effortless way to lock it without having to press the power button. And i like my 2 minute screen lock timeout so i don't want to shorten it. A "Double Tap" or other gesture to lock and off the screen would be great. Especially for the N6P which is a HUGE phone the power button is not always easy to navigate to - especially with the volume buttons so close.

no wonder i couldn't find it! it's in the 5X section! thank you!
i would love to be able to turn the screen off and lock with the fingerprint scanner. hence - we would never have to touch the power button.

Same issue as Gekko2. This is not a solution if you enable fingerprints.

As I only wanted to lock the phone with double tap i didn't see the point in trying double tap to wake as I use fingerprint to wake
On nova launcher it only works on the prime paid for version

Does setting up greenify double tap to lock and using fingerprint to unlock work properly?

Question: I installed Greenify on my Nexus 6P looking to use the "Hibernate + Lock" shortcut on double tap. It works fine, except I can't unlock it by using the fingerprint scanner! It forces me to enter my PIN no matter what. Any ideas?

That's a known issue since Lollipop, due to lacking an API to lock the device without breaking the Smart Lock. I think the finger-print unlock works the same way as Smart Lock. See

Use of fingerprint scanner

Out of curiosity, is there any chance that fingerprint scanner can be used to LOCK the device as well?

I dont think that is possible. But isn't power button faster than Fingerprint scanner?

Touch screen after unlock

I am having an issue where the touch screen seems to be unresponsive for a short time after unlock. For instance, if I unlock the phone via fingerprint, pattern, or slide the first touch doesn't respond and I have to tap whatever app or item I am trying to use. I'm using Cataclysm ROM with the most recent ElementalX kernel. Maybe it's a ROM/Kernel thing and I should try stock but just wanted to ask here.

So I turned on "Show Touches" in developer settings so I could see if my touches were registering and I have discovered that sometimes when I unlock the phone there is a touch dot on the screen like something is registering a touch. When I tap the screen it goes away but doesn't open the app I tapped. It then disappears and taking the app again works. Wonder wth is going on. I do have a screen protector on. Wonder if it is that.

Is the touch spot in the same location every time? I have not actually ever heard of a screen protector doing that, but anything is possible.

Just got my rma device and it's still happening. So it has to be a kernel issue or an app. I'm on the latest stock 6.0.1 security update. Need to find the stock kernel.

Pretty sure I've figured out the cuplrit. Seems as though the double tap to wake gesture for elementalx is causing it. If you touch the screen when locked it holds on to that touch waiting for the second touch. Turned it off and haven't had it since going on two hours.

There won't be a fix to double tap to wake. How it behaves, whether it works or has issues, is due to Google's code. Flar2 just enables the option for the user in ElementalX.
Edit: only thing I could suggest is try flar2's Wake gestures app or stick with Sweep2Wake.

Turn Finger print vibration back on.

Hey guys after the new updates I noticed the finger vibrate when unlocking the phone is gone now. Is there a way to turn the back on? I'm noticing now that I'm unlocking my phone without even knowing when taking it out my pocket. before I would feel the vibration and lock it back.
No way
The only current way is with custom ROMs or Xposed+Gravity Box.

I had it installed before but I wasn't really using it like that so I removed it.
The other option would be to enable vibration on touch, but it will also enable vibration for back and recent buttons.
