Galaxy alpha rooted with odin. Says "pass" but device is not rooted - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hi.
I have a Samsung galaxy alpha. I'm trying to root it to install a newer version of android.
I'm using Odin3 with samsung_sm-g850f_sltexx_lrx22g.g850fxxs2crk3_boot.tar.md5.
It says "pass" and autorestarts but then the device is not rooted.
I also tried to disable autorestart in Odin3. It says "downloaded" on the phone but the android icon is green. I removed the battery and booted into recovery mode but nothing happend. When I power up the phone it is still not rooted.
Any help?

[Q] Did I just brick my s4?

Hi, I have a rooted galaxy s4 LTE with android 4.3, and was going to update to 4.4.2 via odin 3.09, but during the middle of the installation, I heard a usb disconnection sound, and a red light saying fail appeared on odin. I waited a while, but nothing, and when I restarted my phone, I got that message "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again" with some odin console messages on top.
I don't know why I can't recover with kies, nothing shows up on the list, and I tried to flash again with odin, using the same rom, but it failed.
what should I do?
I downloaded the official rom from sammobile.
thanks in advance

i had the same problem before! it was the usb ports in my pc ! i changed pc, i used my laptopt and everything were ok! just test another usb port or another pc using odin and original rom and everything should be ok! Dont panic ur phone is ok
remember always to run odin as administrator
hey! yeah, apparently it was those front usb ports, both of them weren't working properly, when I connected to another usb behind the computer it worked fine installing the same rom through odin.
phew!
thanks

[Q] How do I unbrick my galaxy s4???

Ok. So here's what happened. I wanted to root my verizon galaxy s4 and put stock kitkat on it. It was on 4.3. So I rooted it. No problem. Then I tried to put on CWM so I could flash AOPK. But, once I put CWM on, I could not get it into recovery mode. It said that unauthorized software was on my device, not approved by verizon. The only way I could turn on the phone was to put it into download mode and then hit cancel. I wanted to unroot the phone at that point and try again. Also with downgrading it. So I downloaded ODIN and tried to restore my phone to samsung stock 4.2.2. So I tried it, it worked for a while and then ODIN said that it failed. Then when I turned on my phone, it gave me a message saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again." So I opened Kies, connected the phone, and tried to do emergency recovery, but it did't recognize my device. So I selected firmware upgrade and instilation. It downloaded and everything but it said "this devices version cannot be updated." So now I have no idea what to do. I can only go into download mode now. Please help me! What should I do?

Not an easy one this one, but can be solved.
First step: get the right firmware from SamMobile. (phone/operator/country).
Uninstall Kies (and USB drivers).
Reinstall Kies.
Obviously, phone removed all the time form PC!
Shut down the phone (it should be fully charged before, using the normal power adaptor).
Get phone to download mode. Still not connected
Connect phone and wait for the drivers to install.
Start Odin and flash the right firmware (watch for the blue button in Odin, it means the phone is connected OK).
IF it does not work, try another USB port (maybe even a different computer).
If it does not work the first time, in spite off all the above steps successful, don't despair. Shut down the phone (keep pressing power button) and restart in download mode. Repeat Odin procedure.

Messed up odin flashing

Last night I've decided to flash a lollipop firmware on my galaxy s4 gt-i9500 using odin.
When i hit start, everything was going fine UNTIL i receive "fail". So i tried again and the same happened. I then unplugged my S4 and exited out odin.
AFter the phone turned back on it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue."
I've then installed kies 2.6 but it would stay on "connecting device" for a long time and when it did go through, it error out and i couldn't do anything afterwards. I've tried Firmware upgrade on both kies 3 and 2.6 but it says "Gt-i9500 does not support initializing". Also when kies 3 does detect my phone it says "The connected device is not support by kies 3"
When attempting to use Odin, nothing shows up in the message box. So im almost sure it doesn't detect my phone. This happen after the fail flash. And now in download mode i see

And yet the simplest solution i should of tried before posting worked.
Plugging it in another usb slot
And make sure you use the original cable. Then try flashing with Odin again. Unless you have the wrong firmware it should work. Also make sure that Kies is not running at the same time as Odin. Open Task Manager and kill any instance of Kies.
Make sure that you have all the files such as Bootloader, ROM, etc marked under their proper options in Odin and make sure you have your S4 in Download Mode (I am going off of how my Galaxy Discover SGH-R740C was. I had to replace the Rom on it 4 times before dropping it off of a ladder and completely shattering it...(accidentally)... because I had rooted it and kept screwing up stuff because it was the first device I ever rooted...
If you put it in Download Mode you cannot take the battery out or let it die or force it to turn off at all because it can permanently brick the phone... SAME thing if you put the wrong bootloader On it

Stuck on Samsung Logo Odin and Wipe done

Hi, I recently became a Galaxy S6 Edge+ as a gift, which is stuck on the Samsung Logo (blinking). I am not new to flashing Firmware and Roms (came from the HTC HD2 and Dell Streak 5), but everything I do, I can not come through this. Now I need your help, since it's my first Samsung device. Maybe I have something forgotten?
My device:
SM-G928F with Regional Code AUT (free Switzerland firmware) --> Also Samsung Smart Switch shows me this AUT Version (but it wont recognize it, shows it after typing in the serial)
What have I done:
Samsung Smart Switch does not recognize it.
The last 24 hours I have downloaded the firmware through SamFirm 4 times, I have flashed the phone via Odin about 8 times, after the flashs I have wiped the cache and resettet data (full wipe) through the recovery. One time, the phone came to the android optimatization, but it was stuck on the last app (was 30 minutes on this), after reboot it was stuck on the Samsung logo.
Now I need your help. What can I do further? Do I missed something? Any ideas?
Something strange I noticed: When the phone is off and I plug it in to the wall, the battery drains. I have to put the phone to Download-Mode to charge it. Is it linked to the firmware problem? The charger is original Samsung.
So, I flashed TWRP, the Note7 Deodexed Rom and SkyHigh kernel, but it's the same... any sugestions?
I read about a pit file, what is that? May be this the solution?
What I did the last 3 houers was to test Smart Switch With the mac version, the rescue function did not work, the hole program crashed each time. On the windows version it suceed, but my phone is showing just the blinking Samsung logo. Every now and then it vibrates, but nothing happens, so I am at the start of the problem again. Any ideas?
Next update: I flashed the original firmware with a pit file 3 minutes ago. I learned a lot, learnt that the pit files are the partition-files. Now I'm hoping, that with the new partitions it will boot properly :good: . Stay tuned!
Still the same issue. Please help me
Whenever I start the Recovery, it says "installing system update" and then there is a dead Android, does this matter?
A 4 part firmware with pit file did not help. I downloaded another Firmware from another source, also the same. Now I will do a downgrade and look, if this helps. Pleeeeease, help me!
Infos from the download mode:

Maybe the TWRP Log helps: There are errors in writing, is there something missing? It is the original firmware, with the newest TWRP and SuperSU installed. Still stuck on Samsung (animated) logo.
Listen do you have windows on ur mac i use parallels
but do you have windows anyhoe

Hello,
I'm quite new here, but not with flashing.
My son got an S6 Edge plus too, with almost the same problem.
I tried also almost anything, the last few days.
ADB sideload, Odin several versions.
It started out with FRP lock.
After I tried al I could find I think it bricked.
And now it is in the state as described above.
Only first screen and draining the battery if not in download mode.
And when I put it on USB cable it says: "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software."
But Smart Switch doesn't recognise the phone!
I can however get the phone in download mode by pushing vol. down, power and home and then vol up.
But in Odin only works: Pit, CP and CSC.
With AP and BL I get errors and fails.
Please help?
For me AP and BL works with Odin. I am a step furhter now. First I flashed with the option: Erase All Nand. Then I installed TWRP and a made a repair for the System and the Caches partitions. With SuperSU installed, and the caches wiped (manual, dalvik and normal caches), it says "Android is starting, Optimizing Apps" and then "Androis is starting, Starting Apps" on a blue screen and when it loads to the end, it is stuck there.
.You get only the first Samsung S6 Edge+ Screen? Then the system files are missing, there is no OS to start (flashed with AP in Odin). Your flash problem sound quite strange. Did you test another cable?
If you want to do it with Smart Switch, the phone should be in download mode. I also had to try it several times. Did you installed the drivers?
@ KatariaMax: I have Windows and Mac PCs, no Parallels. Does it work with Parallels?
So, one problem less. With the Audax rom and kernel, the phone charges normally (but not with Quickcharge), so I don't have to put the phone to download mode. But here is the same problem, after "starting apps" it is stuck. I will do a log from the install, maybe this helps.
@ HugoGroot: Maybe the second post could be the solution for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/s6-bricked-t3497687
I read about Sony devices, which are in a bootloop because of the battery. Could this be possible also for Samsung devices? I have bought a battery, just to be sure. Any other suggestions?

Samsung galaxy note 4 "Bricked?"

Hello I have a pretty weird issue,
you know when you fail something like rooting your phone and trying to install Lineage os (from this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...-unofficial-lineage-15-1-rom-t3760969/page101) everything went well until i restarted phone.
The product name shows SM-910L but mine is 910F, but that is not the issue, when i try to flash via odin the check goes on and gets stuck at NAND Write Start!!!
I've tried 3.09 and the latest.
There is no progress bar showing on my note nor the odin at all.
Also to mention the device is recognized as CDC composite device and modem.
And to add it shows Phone Triangle and PC saying something in chinese or japanese with kies.
Fixed by installing cwm recovery, boots fine, shows 910F BUT cannot flash still.
ps. Wanna flash new rom or custom cause stock one is bloated.
Update 3: Sticker says 910F, download mode says 910L (Korean version?)
