I've upgraded to Android 9, but am unsure that this want a preform before the upgrade.
I've tried using a variety of camera apps - Gcam port included - and have noticed that the audio doesn't record when shooting video. I have the same problem with the default Essential camera app.
Anyone else have this issue?

So I'm running Camera Zoom FX on a stock, debloated, rooted rom. It takes pics fine. However when I try to switch to video mode, it says "video switch not supported on this device"
Is there a fix for this? If not, whats another good camera app tha does actually support video. Thanks!
Camera FX has not been updated since August 19 , 2015 and it's not capable of handling the current api's unless they update the application. I bought the premium version and stopped using it because of this and other camera issues.
So earlier I installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/equalizer-dsp-manager-note-4-t3171875 this equalizer, but it seems like the DSP.zip messed up my cameras. I can't record on the default app or Snapchat, but I can take pictures just fine. Any help?
I'm having trouble recording 60FPS full HD video on Open Camera. Every time I set it to record at 60FPS or 24FPS, it records video but only at 30FPS. I'm getting the same issue with Filmic Pro. It's not a hardware issue since I can record 60FPS with the stock camera app. I've also noticed that when using the Cinema 4K app, the flat profile option just crashes the app every time. Is Asus doing this on purpose? It would be pretty ****ty of them if they did. The stock camera app doesn't give me a lot of options when it comes to recording video like Open Camera does. If I installed a custom ROM on it, can I get other apps to record at 60FPS?
I think it is the api, its a shame really as the API is not supported fully, Lineage OS might give you some luck but there is no guarantee, make sure you backup files b4 any mods
I have same problem and i don't think that any camera app can give you 60FPS full HD option.
I think that an api problem because i try 5 or 6 camera app and it just crash or show 60FPS but when i check video file, it's only 30FPS.
Install a custom ROM may be (just maybe) give you some luck but no one can guarantee that.
Lineage OS flat out doesnt support 60fps recording, not even with stock app
I used the vpn trick to update to android pie and have magisk installed. Everything works fine, 4g wifi etc. However, I noticed in the stock camera app video recording does not work. I can take pictures both on front and rear cam. When I enabled hyperlapse or slowmo, it can record video but never when those features are not enabled. I tried installing Open Camera from playstore (an opensource camera software) and tried to record video with that app but still nothing. It says "Failed to record video". I recently also enabled camera2api and installed gcam and it can take pictures but not record video. Weird thing is that I tried capturing video on Facebook Messenger and it worked. Video recording works on messenger but not on camera apps?? Did anyone experience this or is it just me?
Try to record video without audio in Open camera. If it works, download Cinema FV camera app and try different audio codec. It happened to me on Oreo, I couldn't find the reason. Once the full ROM has been released by Xiaomi, I reflashed it and video started to work in all apps again. Maybe something went wrong during OTA update, hard to tell. All I know is that it messed up with audio codecs and I had to use another as the default one to be able to record video with sound.

Hmm you're right the problem is with the audio. I tried open camera and disabled audio and it worked. I also followed your suggestion and installed cinema fv camera app and tried all the different codecs but it still doesn't work. It works though if I disable audio completely. Maybe I'll just wait for the new security patch to come.
I just found my old post, this codec in Cinema FV worked for me when I had the recording issue - "AAC-ELD".
Hello Oneplussers
Do you also notice that the sound of video recordings is strongly compressed by the standard camera app but also by gcam.
Do you have any tips or other apps?
